XdaII ExtRom Question

Hi,
I want to ask anyone know how to build an Extended Rom for XdaII to Upgrade it's Extended Rom?
My thought is that, we can't modify the extended rom, how's we buid a rom then upgrad the extended rom part? I think it's an alternative way to modify the Extended Rom.
does the "mkrom" can do it?
Since XdaII structure seems different to XdaI
Thanks!
Ciao
I have right now finished to upgrade my XDAII with WM2003SE 2.02, and in order to manage the situation that you have described I have used the program ER2003Edit . I found it very usefoul in order to take an already existent extended rom and replace / add / delete applications inside. Pls don't miss to modify too the config.txt files in order to start automatically the installation of applications files after an hard reset.
To, R0ger.
where to find the ER2003 edit can o post a link here.
thanks in advance.
you know the search function?
you know the wiki pages? Hint: Its one of the "XDA-developer tools".

stupid rom questions

I understand (basically) the makerom idea but what I don't get is why you would want to put all the other programs available in the kitchen in ROM. do the run better there? or faster?
why we want to make own ROM is your question, right ?
Because your own ROM can put anything you want and remove everything that you don't need such as operator that you will never ever use.
the Second reason is when you have trouble to Hard reset without warning. Your device will comeback with program that you desire. Do not need to install everything again or need to wait until you back to home and restore from your computer.
That should be the reason that I try to make my owned ROM.
OK, so you are saying that if I load the programs into rom instead of ram that when I reset(hard) all programs are reloaded?
Do the programs work better or faster if they are in rom instead of ram?
yes. Surely right.!!!! all programs installed in the rom must access fater than any other ram no matter how fast your memory card is.
OK, but more stupid ROM questions
My unit was originally an unlocked German T-Mobile branded MDA.
I flashed it with an O2 UK ROM to get English.
I use it with T-Mobile US.
I don't need all the O2 apps.
Device info:
OS=USB 32 1.60.00 WWE
Device=PH10
Operator Name=O2
Language=WWE
Ext ROM version=1.60.50
Radio=1.10.00
I am unclear as to which base rom to pick in the rom kitchen http://lumpistefan.dyndns.org/
This one? 4.01.16 ENG. Isn't that rom for WM2003 for the T- MO pocket pc phone?
Should I use the ruu172126wwe_imate.exe, file version 4.1.100.1332 instead?
my head hurts
*** ATTENTION ***
ROM's from the ROM kitchen are only for XDA I not for XDA II.
Don't f**k up your device by trying to update your device with ROMs from the ROM kitchen.
Regards,
mark
maybe LumpiStefan should put some kind of warrning on his kicthen so people notice that it's xda1 only

O2 Xda IIs Asian Extended Extended ROM

Windows Mobile 2003 Second Edition Version 4.21.1088 (Build 14132)
O2 Xda IIs Asian Extended ROM plus Xda IIx Extended Extended ROM
First off I'd like to say that some of you are pathetic to the core. Having said that I also like to add that I believe I can throw any amount of insults and yet the same people will still download in spite of. This brings us back to my first point.
I've posted the M.O. on extracting the Extended ROM from the Xda IIs but no one bothered to even try. Sad is that Xda IIs has been sold out of stock twice or more and yet zero Asian O2 Xda IIs owners came forward.
It doesn't matter anyway. End of story.
RE
Hi Dr. Stein!
Thank you for your postings.
I don't own an IIs so I really look forward to such postings to have an enhanced experience.
Thank you again.
RE
Hi Dr. Stein!
One question.
Whats the difference between the 2 EXT ROMs? Care to elaborate whats added/removed?
Thanks
RE
Ooooops! Sorry!
The 1st file is not the EXT ROM.
Umm, first of all I'd like to thank you for providing your ROMs to us. In my case, it's not like I'm not putting an effort in looking for an Asian XDAIIs Extended ROM. But the people that I know, none of them owns an XDAIIs. So I guess you should try to understand that not all people are as fortunate as you are to have a friend that owns an XDAIIs and allows you to copy files off it ... Try not to be bitter and just remember that we are just trying to help each other out here ... Thanks again, doc.
Thanks Dr. Stein! I hope my mongrel 2003SE will now begin to look like an 02 after im done customizing.
Apology
I sincerely apologize for my outburst. It was wrong for me to take on this forum as my wrath does not belong here.
And now for the business proper.
The first zip file contains the Windows Mobile 2003 Second Edition Version 4.21.1088 (Build 14132) and Radio 1.18.00 and not Xda IIs ROM and Radio as this has not yet been exploited.
The second is the O2 Xda IIs Asian Extended ROM plus Xda IIx Extended Extended ROM which has two folders carrying CABs to be extracted to the folders named.
Dr.Stein
Trying to irritate you again Is it only for XDAIIs or for XDAII also
First file is it similar to dcs or mystery man's version. I mean is
OS ROM :2.06
or
OS ROM : 2.02t1
or
totally different?
. I am asking this as I am on dialup connection and it takes hours to download 17MB here
RE
Hi Dr. Stein!
Just to confirm.
In order to perform the upgrade I'll have to dump all the EXT ROM files (from the 2 folders) into the same folder as the Windows Mobile 2003 Second Edition Version 4.21.1088 (Build 14132) and Radio 1.18.00 and then run HimaUpgradeUT, right?
2nd question - If I only need S'pore and Malaysia telcos I'll have to edit the AutoConfig file by deleting all other unwanted telcos and re-save it again, correct?
You need not to reflash ur device. I have my extended ROM unlocked so I just deleted everything from extended rom and filled it with the one dr. has provided. Did a hard reset and everything came alive. I've to say this extended rom is great except camera doesn't seem to work. I recon if i remove Camera_Patch_10080401.sa.CAB from config. txt, things should be fine with camera as well.
Don't forget to remove TPDISABLE.EXE from config.txt otherwise u won't be able to interact with SE warning msg. Enjoy!

Negative.
Extract the contents of Extended ROM and Storage folders to the respective named folders existing in your Xda II.
Now run the HimaUpgradeUT.exe from the WM2003SE Xda IIx folder.

Provided the Xda II has already been flashed with WM2003SE ROM and Radio ROM of your choice.
The camera patch is needed for SE customization. Your camera didn't work probably because you did not install the CABs from the Storage folder I have included as an Extended Extended ROM. If you go through the Config.txt you will know what I am talking about.
RE
Hi rehman!
I've the EXT ROM 'unlockextrom' file on my O2. Upon tapping it amessgae prompts out which says
debug
Usage: unlockextrom [-lock | -unlock] [-hide | -unhide]
How to unlock the EXT ROM?
Another question is if I only need S'pore and Malaysia telcos I'll have to edit the AutoConfig file by deleting all other unwanted telcos entries and re-save it again, correct?
Thanks
Locks
Works fine on mine.
RE
Hi Dr. Stein!
Sorry for the repeated question. I was typing when you posted the reply.

Yes. Just remove the unwanted CABs from the Extended ROM folder and edit the AutoConfig.txt accordingly.
RE
Hi Dr Stein!
I'm getting somewhere now. Thanks for your guidance as I'm able to see my EXT ROM files now on my O2.
BTW, I could not get the screen of the debug you posted although I could get it from the Settings -> Menus
How to do it?
Thanks again

I don't really get you. You could get the debugscreen from Settings -> Menus - where?
Yes Dr. I did copy files in storage folder as well. All those cabs were also installed during extended rom setup as they're mentioed in config.txt file. My problem is that camera applicatin opens but viewfinder doesn't seem to work. Camea version is 2.21 (Build 17576).
Strange
Why does mine show Version 2.50 (Build 15954)?
Are you certain you installed the 2 Camera CABs from the Storage folder?
I'm sure because all other storage apps like extended rom unlocker, view, intellidial and intellipad are installed. I wonder what went wrong with the camera

how to cook my own rom?

how do you customize your own ext. rom? i installed XdA2JoJo.v3.2zS in my xda2 and found too much programs with it..
what do you mean found too much programs with it ?
this tool
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=ER2003Edit
and then add cab files of your own to the extented rom

2003 SE with 2005 ext. rom??

Is it possible to use 2003se with the useful programs from wm5. ie can you use 2003se but have wmp10, pocket word, pocket excel and the powerpoint viewer instead of the standard pocket office?
Thanks in advance
WM 5.0 has no extended ROM
Sascha
Thanks, is there any way of using the program cab files from wm5? Or are they 'locked' into the OS?
Use upgrade from SX66 standardisation project to get every thing you want on 2003 SE without upgrading to WM5.
Thanks for that, but how do i do it for an XDA II/himalya not a blue angel?
cab files are only in the extented rom all other programs are bin inside the rom
