Is it possible to flash extracted radio using mtty - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam Software Upgradin

Hi,
I have searched so please dont flame me. I just want to know if it is possible to flash an extracted radio nb using mtty if so what is the address to use when i lnb.
thanks

I don't believe that is possible. Somebody tried this IIRC and it had no effect. I believe this is b/c the actual code is flashed into the Qualcomm chipset itself under the control of the radio bootloader.

ahhhh gotcha...... for some reason i cannot upgrade my radio form the 1.07. I have Super CID and I also have the 1.04 /1.01 bootloader.... any suggestions?

you should be able to flash using bl1.04. Are you sure you are SuperCID? Go into mtty and do a task 32. SuperCID devices will return "level = 0"

I am SupCID it does return level=0.... but i think it is because some of us flashed the b1.08 and then back down to the 1.04 :s

ok, if you're superCID, on bl 1.04 and have one of the 1.07 radio variants, you should be able to flash any of the "radio only" upgrades without issues. What radio upgrade are you trying to flash?

Start in bootloader mode, download mtty.exe and start it, connect via USB.
Then type "info 2" - without the quotes.

Yes, once it is SuperCID you are able to flash any shipped ROM in NBH format.

please READ: to flash an exctracted radio you need bootloader 1.04, your bootloader is 1.09. The radio 1.27 is offered in two different formats: shipped (NBH) file which you will be able to flash and extracted (NBF) file which you will not be able to flash unless you downgrade your bootloader to 1.04.
@pof (hi again LOL!)
From what ive read (see my sig am on 1.09) i cant use these upgraded radio ROMs, but if im not really having any unwanted issues is it even worth trying to downgrade to 1.04??
More to the point (im most probably wrong but...) to downgrade to 1.04 i must flash a different ROM, im happy with the HTC south Africa one?!?

If you are happy with the 1.18 radio, and don't need to access the radio bootloader or AT command interpreter, you can keep 1.09 bootloader without problems. There's no difference in day-to-day use of the Hermes as a PDA/mobile.

That's a way, but as I see in your signature your device is SuperCID, so to downgrade the bootloader you don't actually need to flash a full rom. The steps would be:
1. Flash bootloader 1.01 MFG
2. Flash SPL-1.04 from bootloader using 'lnb' if you don't want to keep the MFG.
You can do this without having to hard reset your device.

Your CID is the part just after "HTCS"
So in your case you get (from info 2) "HTCSQTEK_001ÖUSB" so your hermes is an English HTC branded device, your device is not SuperCID yet.
Check this post to see which it is (im only going by memory)
EDIT: I upgraded to the 1.27.00.00 radio yesterday, aslong as you use the signed released version (the first option on the related thread) you should be ok, dont use the extracted one. You MUST be SuperCID to upgrade the Radio (covering ones ass).
@basilrsa: Your CID is QTEK_001. Your device is CID locked with bootloader 1.09, you won't be able to flash 1.27 radio unless you downgrade your SPL to 1.04 first, either to continue CID locked and be able to flash extracted radio or to CID unlock and be able to flash shipped radio.
Thanks Pof

Is it possible to downgrade X01HT from 1.09 to 1.04?

I had read many post here these few days and got so confuse.
I read in some post that reply from you and get this message,
please correct me if I am wrong.
If I buy a X01HT with 1.09 bootloader now,
Is it possible to downgrade to 1.04 use HERMES Bootloader 1.01 MFG?
After I downgrade to 1.04 then I can use your SIM UNLOCK v2a program
to SIM UNLOCK and CID UNLOCK. Also I can upgrade the radio and
ExtendedROMs to other language. Am I got the right message or wrong?
Thank You for answer my question!!

you can down to 1.04, but u can't get supercid, so u can't get Bootloader 1.01 MFG, and u can't flash other radio or OS.

If you want to discuss with one member only, please PM that person. If not, don't start thread with "To <member>:" You're only hurting yourself since doing this can limit the hits (people will ignore because title doesn't include them).
answer to your question: no, MFG solution is only available for SuperCID devices.

Thanks for your advance, coz Im new here.
So what is SuperCID? How I can know my mobile have SuperCID or not?
If not, how can I change to SuperCID?
Thanks!
"The CID is a string that identifies carrier and language of your device, it is contained also on ROM upgrade files and is used to check that you're flashing your device with the right ROM."
So SuperCID allows things from a different carrier to be flashed to your device without needing your specific vendor updates.
Connect to your device in bootloader mode through mtty.exe and issue the 'info 2' command. Do not copy and paste commands into mtty.

Your method can work on bootloader 1.09?
If yes, after I change to mobile to SuperCID, then I can downgrade to 1.04,
right? And then I can upgrade the Rom, radio also?
I'm pretty sure that there's no SuperCID solution yet for your phone. I know you can unlock with the IMEI-check unlocker and I believe that takes you back to BL1.04, but you can't get to SuperCID since pof's custom radio won't flash on yours due to the radio bootloader yours has. Here's a link to a thread on this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=290228
You can make x01ht post dec-2nd SuperCID by paying imei-check unlocker. This will downgrade your bootloader to 1.04 too. After that you can flash 1.01 MFG if you want, and also unlock your ExtROM. To flash other radio you'll need to upgrade the bootloader to 1.09 again and use a radio in NBH format (shipped 1.27 for example). Your radio bootloader can't be downgraded and you can't flash extracted radio roms. That's all
To be simple, Post Dec X01HT can only be unlocked & superCID by IMEI-CHECK (NO FREE METHOD at the moment), better pay if you need the phone function.......
Ahhh... so the new IMEI-check unlocker also does SuperCID. Damn.... How'd they get their custom radio flashed I wonder? That's good news for users of this phone!
You said I can't update the Extracted Radio ROM, that mean I need to download this file "RUU_Hermes_TMD-TMA_Radiopatch_1.27.00.00_107_GER.exe", right? Yes, it's forced by radio bootloader 0108, you can upgrade to SPL-1.09 to flash radios in NBH, read more here:

Please help!

You've Probably Flashed Radio Bootloader 108 On To Your Device.
This Means That You Will Not Be Able To Flash Just A Radio Rom Any More. You'll Have To Flash A Whole Rom Just To Upgrade The Radio. There Are Notices About 108 All Over The Forum

If you accidentally flashed your Radio Bootloader, how did you go back to the previous version.
My guess is that you were already SuperCID and you had to load a complete older ROM to get back. Am I correct?

Yes, I had SuperCID.
My method was upgrade to latest ROM (Include SPL-1.09) and twice successive flash.
First, SPL will upgrade 1.09, but radio still 1.29.00.11
Second, Radio will upgrade 1.34.00.10
not quite. Your radio bootloader is not downgraded. You can no longer flash radio in nbf with bl 1.04. You must flash in nbh using bl1.09. Then you can downgrade bootloader to 1.01MFG and flash os/extrom of your choice.

So he can change radio or not?
He can change. But he must start with a specific Bootloader and flash a full RUU in nbh. Then he must put on BL1.01MFG and flash seperate os.nb and extrom to change to the os build he wants. The "radio only" upgrades flash in nbf and will not work any more.

ok thanks, i'm iterresting for radio upgrade only (after bigggg mistake Flashed HTC_BOOT 1.08).
SO no issue for me now:-(
The key here is that Bl1.09 and radio bl 1.0108 work together. 1.09 will not allow the radio to upgrade unless flashed in NBH. Radio bl 1.0108 will not permit upgrades unless initiated from bl 1.09. If superCID is enabled then bl 1.09 will permit any operator's rom, flashed in nbh, to upgrade the radio.
I really need to flowchart this for the wiki... I barely understand this myself...
but why, after restoring all, bootloader 1.01mfg etc. it is still impossible to flash radio rom only?
i can´t get it.
Actuality, I used this ROM "RUU_Hermes_HTC_WWE_2.05.255.1_6275_1.34.00.10 _108 _Test.exe".
After flashed, I don't change SPL to 1.01 MFG or 1.04, just re-flashed it again.
The radio will be change 1.34.00.10.

Device BL 1.09 acts as the "key" for Radio BL 1.0108. By flashing to Device BL 1.01, or any other, you have broken the "key" and now can't access the radio rom...basically.

radio bl 1.0108 won't allow upgrade to occur unless initiated by bl1.09. bl1.09 won't allow radio flashing in nbf (which is what all extracted radio rom only files use)

Bootloader 1.09

somehow i have flashed the bootloader 1.09 onto my device/.. hahaahaha
has anyone been able to flash back to 1.04/1.06??
edit... and no its not SuperCID
One solution is to obtain the bootleg 1.04 bootloader downgrade solution. With bl1.04 in place you can SuperCID. You may also be able to unlock with IMEI-check unlocker which I believe will also SuperCID you for 20 euros. I'm not too clear on this though...
thanks... will try and have a look for it....
found it and tried it but im getting a '262' error.. and does anyone have the Readme.doc file???
woohoo!!!!! all works!!!!! i can confirm it downgrades it to 1.04...
At least you're somewhere. I'd try pof's superCID solution next. It may not work though. If not, you'll have to superCID with IMEI-check's unlocker.
edit:
the reason that pof's solution may not work is that your radio bootloader may not permit flashing of the custom radio rom required to implement it. I'm just not sure what radio you flashed when you mistakenly got bl1.09....
it's never easy.....
flashing POF's SuperCID radio now... currently 19%.....
works!!! now SuperCID after using DownGrade_SPL.rar and then flashing POF's patched radio... now to decide which version of OS and RADIO to update to... Sleuth, can you confirm if i now run an update from the exe will it keep the SuperCID and update the SPL to 1.09??
Best to stay 1.04 or even 1.01 MFG BL.
Flashing in nbh (using ruu exe) will maintain SuperCID so you can always get back to bl1.04 or 1.01MFG by using the bl1.01MFG solution (it includes bl1.04 in the download).
Watch out for the radio you flash though! flashing in nbh updates everything! Check the wiki: if radio bl is 1.0108 you don't want to go there!
Also: first test to make sure you are superCID by using mtty. Issue a "task 32" command. It must return "level = 0"
mmmm interesting... im using the Dopod838Pro variant of the HERM100.... now it was SuperCID, i just reflashed it with the HTC 2.05 Test ROM and now my CID is back to DOPOD001..... any ideas???
I was afraid of that. What's your radio ROM now? I believe you gave yourself a radio with bl 1.0108 when you originally flashed the rom that gave you bl1.09.
bugger.... put bootloader back to 1.04 and now reflashing radio to POF's patched SuperCID radio....
edit... but im curious as to why didnt it save the SuperCID???
pof's radio flash is actually failing because your current radio bl (1.0108) isn't allowing it to flash.
You may be down to purchasing imei-check unlock solution to get superCID. Your radio upgrade choices will be limited too if this is the case.
after you're done flashing and running the update, immediately go to mtty and issue task 32. It must say "level = 0" if you are SuperCID. The update program always says "success" btw.
whats the command in bootloader to get the version of Radio Firmware / BL??
Maybe no need, first get your radio version in settings->system->Device info then look it up in the "available radio roms" wiki section. Radio bl is shown there.
If you are on a radio with bl 1.0108, your options (still a lot of them )are essentially spelled out in this thread.

Did you run Herm_Unlock_v2a.exe on your Hermes after flashing the unlocker's 1.16 patched radio? If not, that's why you lost SuperCID.

Radio 1.35.00.11

Does anyone know how to upgrade Radio 1.27 to 1.35 without getting BL 1.07 changed to BL 1.08??
There is no way. But then, why do you care what radio BL you have?
I just like having all possibilities of upgrading Hermes components back and forth. I am aware of Des's SSPL tool, but you need to be in Windows Mobile to use it.
However, I saw an interesting post where Izzard-UK managed to burn the OS.nbh from the Micro SD, it is probably possible to do the Radio and ExtrRom using some sort of file that will tell it which location to start Writing.
It looks like soon we will have have cleverer and more powerful tools.
Well, the technique for microSD loading of an nbh image is not new. I would say that if you can get bl 1.01MFG loaded then you're pretty much good to go with the sspl solution.
My Radio 1.35.00.11 upgrade failed with 114 Error and now Hermes starts in Bootloader mode.
What could go wrong and what to do?
I'm now running update again to see if it fails again or not.
I had XDA Live 0.10 + Radio 1.18, Bootloader 1.01 MFG as far as I remember.
@schriss: you need to go into bl with mtty & issue the following commands:
set 14 0
task 8
the first command sets the boot flag from "boot to BL" back to "Boot to OS"
the second command resets your hermes
This is the problem you would see if you were using a .nbf upgrader instead of an sppl upgrader. Bl 1.01MFG is missing commands and causes an abort.
However, sspl executes its own bl which is v1.09.
When you were doing the upgrade, when the RUU put your device in tri-color mode, what bl version was displayed?

I don't remember what was displayed, but you are right, I didn't use sppl upgrader because the link was broken and there was only one upgrade on FTP.
I've taken time and read WiKi and almost started flashing BL 1.04 hoping that it could let me run the upgrade again successfully - would that work?
I'm on mtty now trying your commands...
EDIT: That's the link that didn't work: ftp://xda:[email protected](GPS-Enabled)Trinity2Hermes-SSPL-comp.zip it's on GPS Driver first page.
EDIT2: Set 14 0 command helped, THANKS!
All radio-only links are still in the Wiki. The 1.35.00.11 link is still good there in the shipped radio only upgrades section. I'll check the GPS page & fix... The valid wiki link points to this file.
BL1.04 won't work if your radio is already using bl0108. Best to just use sspl and not worry about it.

You mean even if we flash radio 1.27..00 with the newest 1.35.11 using sspl method, radiobootloader bl0107 will change to bl0108.
if this true why we should upgrade 1.27.00 to 1.35.11 and loose the ability to flash extracted radios in nbf format?
IIRC, you will loose the ability to enter some radio bootloader commands if you go to bl0108 with sspl. OTOH, you will gain the ability to use the latest radio ROMs for your device if you go the sspl route (since they are all bl0108 from 1.27 on). Those are the tradeoffs IMO.
I was in the Wiki looking around for various "task" commands when you are the in bootloader using TTY but I don't see anything outline the list of commands (e.g. task 32, task 8, etc...).
I thought may be there will be specific command to get the version of the Radio Bootloader from TTY.
Nevermind, I needed to dig deeper
I was in the same dilemma whether to use radio v1.27 or v1.35.
After much thinking, I decide to stick to radio v1.27 with HTC boot 0107.
I've done a bit of digging and it seems there really isn't much difference between the radio bootloader commands available in 0108 and 0107. I was mistaken. I was thinking about the Trinity Bootloader that was missing the commands that got you into the Radio bootloader AT interface...
So, bottom line IMO is there is no good reason to stick with an 0107 Radio bootloader. All the most current radios have the 0108 bl and with sspl, it's trivial to switch to any radio you want.
Sleuth,
Since this radio rom is GPS enabled, have you found that it uses more battery power compared to the 1.34 version? Or are the GPS chips always on anyway?
It doesn't use any more power unless an "[email protected]" command is issued to turn on the GPS radio. The only program that can do this on a hermes is superdave's VRSerial driver which you must install seperately.
How is the radio 1.35.00.11 compare with Radio 1.34.00.10??
Will it be better?

my only concern is if the 1.35 rom is not as reliable/stable as the 1.20 rom i am using now, i am unable to go back since there is no SSPL radio for 1.20. The only versions i see in the wiki is 1.27, 1.34, 1.35
I updated my TyTN with the AKU 3.3 full update (OS, ExtROM, Radio 1.34 and the works).
Now I want to upgrade the radio to 1.35, since I have some connection problems, but wasn't it so that you couldn't do radio extracted rom only upgrades due to some reason?
Or can it be done with Des's SSPL bootloader?

Never mind, found the answer and now running 1.35 Radio

@joej: its easy enough to make one for yourself from any Full NBH that has that radio. Table in Wiki will tell you which.
Welp, after one day with 1.35 radio I've decided to revert it back to 1.27. I've found that this 1.35 version is even worse than 1.34. The line has dropped (voice) 4-6 times / 1 hour talk.
I drive by car 2h/day the same route so there shouldn't be much difference between the signal quality along the way.
