Is there a way to disable or even uninstall the default keyboard on the WM2003SE? I've been able to uninstall the Transcriber via the install options of Calligrapher but the default keyboard (w/c actually has absolutely no use for me, would rather use Phone Pad) still remains and is always the default input method whenever my XDA2 soft resets (I've tried to enable Calligrapher or Phone Pad as the default input method but the keyboard somehow manages to "overcome" them i.e when starting up I would see the Phone Pad or Calligrapher icon on the today screen (bottom right hand corner) but it will disappear after a few seconds. Its really very annoying! Pleases help.

I use the iGo (Stowaway) bluetooth keyboard with the WM5 drivers on my niki300.
unfortunately, it clashes with XT9, even in ABC mode.
with XT9, typing is very slow, as i am much faster on the keyboard than XT9 is with keeping up with what i type.
whenever i switch to ABC, the bluetooth keyboard behaves like the 20key slideout keyboard in ABC mode.
for example, if i hit the Y key twice, it writes X, not YY.
has anybody any idea how to solve this? ain't it possible to disable XT9 (and its bad habits) completely for use with bluetooth keyboards?

update: I just found out, that i have to slide out the hardware keyboard, long press the SYM button to show the XT9 options, go to ABC and close the hardware slider again! now the stowaway behaves correctly...interesting.
maybe you wanna try this cab so that you don't have to press XT9 to oget to ABC everytime you wanna type.

actually, I wrote two little MortScripts that set the registry key to 0 or 1 and put them into the HTC home launcher.
so when i want to use the bluetooth keyboard, i launch the ABC script. when i quit using it, and i am back to using the built in hardware keyboard, where i want XT9, i launch the XT9 skript.
I can upload them here tomorrow if somebody else is interested (along with the start menu links you need to add it to the launcher).
Im trying to set touchpal as my default keyboard, i select it from the keyboard list, then it remains my default until i soft reset, then back to the stock one. I thought I needed to use sipchange, so i used that as well, but i have the same problem, soft reset, and back to the stock it goes, I even went to input and touchpal is still selected as my default, but as i said before after a soft reset, u know the deal. How can i PERMANENTLY make touchpal my default onscreen keyboard?
I don't have the cab with me, but search for sip change, I think I found a copy over at ppcgeeks. It has to be the one for 6.1 and set the time delay to 40 seconds. (the old one doesn't have the delay function and TF3D changes it back). Good luck!
I previously had a wings phone. if I held down the * key then I could change the default input method to T9. with the keyboard open I could do the same with Fn+SPACE
on the s740 Fn+SPACE doesn't set the default any more. it only works once. I'll be happily banging away on the number keys and need to open the keyboard for something not in the dictionary and when I close the keyboard to continue it's changed to multitap.
has anyone else got this problem? have I missed something obvious in the settings?

I downloaded the latest version and, after enabling the keyboard settings menu - language and keyboard,
when I open a text message, and I try to change the input method, nothing shows, I have the ability to change keyboard
always appears the original, I tried to reboot to disable keybord smart, to re-enable it, but nothing,
When I click on "integration method" returns to the screen with the original keyboard, not smart .. Why?
something wrong? well, I looked around, and I have not found anyone with my problem ..

hello, I have resolved, I was wrong in practice once you've enabled the keyboard settings menu, open a new sms, and hold on "type text here" so you can choose the input method!
Ha just found this thanks my boss has a wildfire and didn't like the standard keyboard and me having a Galaxy S I thought oh thats easy lets get him a new one.
I had the same problem I couldn't for the life of me figure out how to change the default keyboard glad you figured it out I was there for ages.

I want to use another keyboard, however when I go into settings the stock keyboard and swipe are grayed out (I cannot deselect them). I can check the new keyboard, but if I reboot it becomes unchecked and the keyboard reverts to the stock keyboard or the swipe keyboard.
Does anyone have a solution to this?
I'm not having that error. Mine has the stock keyboard and ICS grayed out as well, but my other keyboard stays checked as default upon reboots.
