This is a cry for help as I am sure something similar to this must have happened to someone else:
I videoed a friends gig last night using the Nisis/Aiptek DV4 camcorder which records onto my 128mb Sandisk SD card.
I recorded around 60mbs of clips before the card became full. So to create more space I switched the SD card into my XDA and deleted my MP3s. I then put the SD card back in the camera and finished filming another 20mbs.
The camera reset the video clip file names from the start of the second filming session to number 1.
Now when I use the camera or my XDA to look at what's on the card, it shows that there are only the second sessions worth of 4 clips(the 20mbs).
However when I use the XDA settings/memory/storage card tool, it shows that the card has the full 80mbs worth of footage on it.
Is there a developer tool or program or XDA tool that will let me get to this data on the card or extract it onto my PC for editing??
Even if I have to pull the video off the card as one big file will be fine as I will still be able to cut and edit it. The camera records to the .avi format.
Any help or suggestions would be appreciated as this has me a little confused.

i had a similar situation as you did.
my uncle recently bought a kodak digital camera. it uses a sd card (256mb)
he took some pictures, so i figured i would put his sd card in my phone and see if i could view the pictures
not possible. the camera formated the sd card in such a way that the xda could not read it
i didnt try my sd card in his camera
maybe try putting the card u took the video on, into a sd card reader for a pc ?
i have a pcmcia multicard reader for my laptop, and it reads most everything. i use my xda sd card in it, my olympus compact flash in it, etc... a sony memory stick. it reads everything

So.. I got a new Prime and my buddy accidentally upgraded it to .21. It's completely stock. I had a few questions.
1) Is the browsing with flash on always this bad? Every once in a while it says Browser not responding. It also freezes very often, but only for a second or so. What is going on? II tried putting it in Performance mode but that doesn't help either. I read somewhere that ATP Tweak fixes this issue? What do you guys think about browsing on the ATP.
2) Wifi + Bluetooth streaming crashes if the video is HD. Once it crashes, i have to reboot the Prime to get it working again. I use a SE MW600 headset. I have had no problems whatsoever with Wifi dropout or reconnects.
3) How can i disable auto-rotate on the lock screen? It is very annoying.
4) Does having a fast micro SD (class 6/10) in the slot generally enhance the performance? For cache or VRAM purposes, may be?
5) Is it normal if my REAL micro SD is sticking out a lot more than the dummy one?
1) Yes. The browser freezing issue is a known one. If you have Flash set to ON it will be worse. Try setting your Flash plugin to "On Demand" which will allow you to interact with Flash content by clicking on it instead of it auto starting as the page loads. Also I have found the browser freezing issue to be much less of a problem by using Boat Browser available in the Play Store.
2) You didn't actually ask a question here However I don't have a problem watching HD video and streaming it to a set of bluetooth headphones. If your video player is crashing try resetting the video player app by deleting all of its data under App Management. If that doesn't help try doing a factory reset on the tablet.
3) I don't know. I don't think you can right now.
4) Not really. The SD card or microSD card has practically nothing to do with system performance. The Prime has its own internal RAM and doesn't use the SD card as a swap disk or anything like that. Having a faster microSD card can make your photos load quicker in Gallery if there are a lot of photos stored on the card. Also if you are recording video or photos directly to the card a fast card can help. However I am using a 32GB Class 4 and I have had zero problems recording 30min+ HD videos directly to the card so I doubt that spending the extra money on a Class 10 card will give you any meaningful performance benefits for the extra money you would be spending.
SD cards and microSD cards are a mixed bag anyway. Some companies Class 10 cards perform worse than other company's Class 2 cards. There isn't a meaningful regulating body making sure that card ratings are accurate so it is best to look for cards that have the most positive reviews.
5) Yes. Dummy cards are meant to protect the slot and are almost always smaller than actual SD cards.
Guys i 've been searching everywhere for this, but can't find a solution.
Ever since i instaled the Jb XXDLI1 and now the XXDLI2 i'm having problems with the external sd. The stock camera app can't record the photos on it. Mx player can't find any videos on the card too.
the weird thing is that if i go to the folder and click directly on the file it opens normaly.
Other camera apps work perfectly.
Another problem is while transfering files with the usb cable. it is so slow that would take hours to transfer a movie.
Anyone knows any solution for this ?

First thing...what is your rom? Is it a custom rom? XXDLI2 is a leaked jb firmware..thus different bugs can be observd.
Everything is working fine on dli2.. So it is not a bug in the rom.. You might need to do a clean install to get rid of these problems.. Also have you checked the option to store photos on memory card under settings in the camera app

The problem happens in the stock and custom roms. I tried both. I am using now the omega rom.
The weird is that if i go back to older leaks all is fine.
The option to save on the sd card is checked. Once i try to take a photo a warning pops up saying the picture cant be saved on the sd card.
Only the stock camera app and mx video cant use the sd. All other apps can see it normaly.
What bothers me the most is the extremely slow transfer of files using the usb cable. If i take the sd and conect it to an adapter the transfer goes fine.

i was recording a concert recently and i actually had to start the recording again at around 30 min mark.. is there a software restriction on the recording length of the video??
i have a 16gb version of the phone, and also a 16gb SD card. during recording i was using the SD card as storage and it was completely emptied out before hand.
any help will be great, thanks.

Probably the reason is:
"The maximum possible size for a file on a FAT32 volume is 4 GB minus 1 byte or 4,294,967,295 (232−1) bytes."
Which is about 30min of HD video recording.
Switch to internal storage or try to format SD card as exFAT.
There is a free app called "Paragon exFAT" it needs root, I have not tried it.

Maybe you can format the SDCard as exFAT or use any app that helps you to record more than that. I haven't try it so I can't tell you if it works, but I'm almost 90% sure it should do it (formating on exFAT).

Use a ROM that is partitioned to EXT4, this should help

thanks all. ill try those methods out and report back next time i have a chance to record a long video.
and yes the ~30min video is about 3.99gb.
if i format the card to exfat tho, will that affect anything else? (in terms of reading the card on my computer etc)

so i downloaded this app, i think it just helps mount drives to your phone, doesnt do formatting to exfat
so i tested it out today.
formatted the card to exfat using my desktop.
let the cam app run and it stopped recording at 33min 25sec again. same thing.

Had exactly the same problem. ExFAT is not the solution as Samsung prevents videos over 4 GB. The solution is an app that records for a preset time, then automatically start a new recording. I use AutoBoy Dash Cam. I can now record for hours and hours. You then stick the videos back together. There is a slight glitch at the join, but minimal.

I have bought an endoscope for my Android smartphone. It is connected via USB. And it requires to install a dedicated app. I would like to know if there is any way to use it as and internal camera. I mean, something that allows to use front camera, back camera or endoscope camera when trying to record a video with the original system camera app.
