Is it possible?
The new XDA IIs has WM2003SE in the ROM image, so would it be possible to steal it from there and add it to a home cooked XDA II rom?
Is there a ROM Kitchen available for the XDA II, or is it only available for the XDA I?

1. It will never be possible to steal the complete ROM, since the hardware is different and unlike PC-operating systems, PocketPC ROMS don't have drivers for multitude of hardware. Hardware independant pieces of software could be chipped out and ported to another, like SRS.

I've used WM2003SE on my XDA2 & it works fine. In fact seemed to be rather more stable than the one it replaces.
It was a NFR version & I've since gone back to 1.72.181 'cos I want Blackberry
Then you must be one of the lucky few who got their hands on a XDAII WM2003SE Rom.
If NFR means NotForSale, that is why we never saw it.

What I meant was that a WM2003 ROM of an XDAIIs can not be used on a XDAII.
I'm pretty sure I could make you a WM2003SE with blackberry support.

Do you still have any of this ROM???? If so please post it here asap as it means a lot of effort can be saved in trying to rip it.

You are placing him in very akward position. He is probably under NDA of some kind. Those "releases" usualy very easy to track down to a particular person :roll:

Let's assume that this Himalaya SE ROM exists.
All major providers would easily have access to it.
The only reason for not releasing that, and ask people involved to sign NDAs, is to push sales of the newer hardware.
Which is an acceptable policy, from the viewpoint of a single company.
But when the good old competition works as it should, there is always one of the player breaking these situations.
If this does not happen, it is easy to guess that there is an agreement between the providers for not releasing the upgrade.
Now, that is against the law.
Just a thought, in case anyone involved in antitrust commissions would be reading this forum ...

Other than the WINDOWS LIVE application (email / messenger) ,the SD card encruption and html browsing, what else?
I found the HTCFLO aint really useful ....

Why should anyone convince you? If you don't like it, don't need it or don't want it..... leave it.
But if others like to fool around with there Prophet, don't argue either. If anything in live should have a practical reason the world would become a gray dull place to be, don't you think?
(Now is gray a color that matches perfectly with the HTCTouch theme by the way.... )
Who cares if it is usefull to flash anyway... It just fullfils some basic need we aparently seem to have in us.
I have windows mobile 6 running on my Prophet (Smart1 V3) and for me it is a lot faster than wm5. Not more stable, but stable enough. But a hell of a lot faster...
WM6.... HUMM Well it´s a lot faster that (default speed not overclocking.) WM5 .. but my main problem is that it mixes my contacts with mails and sim contacts .. i hate that ... In terms of stability i think it´s the same.. and if anyone can insert the portuguese keyboard layout .. that whould be wonderfull.. that whould make this perfect

No need to explain. Windows 98 and 2000 were also so stable and clean. But we are at Vista now. If you choose to stay where you are, you learn nothing, you progress nothing, and you are nothing.
The speed, the inherent keyboard and its facilities, the sms versalities in file management, the Cube, the HTC Home additional photo contact pics, there are lots of little nitty gritty embedded with minor improvements...
All of these shows we are on the move, and not at the stone age.
Yes, there are instabilities, and with third party softwares you might crash and burn. But we can't wear helmets all the time when we are on the street... We need to live boldly and meet the challenges. If you care to venture into this forum, you are already the one who feels itchy to move, otherwise, you are still using the good old grand father's phone at home with fixed networks.

mods hate these posts. as soon as one sees it, it will get closed. As they don't want the forum filled with petty arguments. Don't fight it! I've been there
just a tip - look at the first description page for each ROM. If you like the authors description, I would read through the posts started from the last one until you get to a previous version.
who knows, if you download the cooker you can make your own rom tailored to your needs!
