How to flash extracted radio rom WITHOUT overwriting olipro BL? - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam Software Upgradin

I have official BL 1.04 and an very old (1.03.03.10) radio rom. I want to update my radio and to xda live. Is the following procedure correct:
1. flash olipro 1.04 SPL to prevent bricked device
2. flash Extracted Radio Roms using Des SSPL (1.34.00.10 from wiki page)
3. flash xdalive
But I read that flashing the radio using Des SSPL overwrites the olipro 1.04 BL. IS this true? If so, how do I prevent that flashing the Extracted Radio Roms overwrites the olipro 1.04 BL (in step 2 above)?
Thanks

don't worry about it. You can just flash the olipro BL back afterwards.

no, flashing the radio will only overwrite the bootloader if there is a bootloader contained within the NBH file itself.

.VIBE: I thought it is basically not possible to downgrade back to BL 1.04 from BL 1.08?! And I think I would flash BL 1.08 on my device with the 1.34.00.10 SSPL rom from the wiki at http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Hermes_ExtractedRadioRoms, no?
olipro: I assumed that the extracted radio roms for SSPL in the wiki (see link above) do have a bootloader in the NBH file. At least that's how understood the sentence "These files are bundled as an NBH with the modified Hermes installer (using SSPL by Des)". So this is not true?

The one that I did (1.35.00.11) doesn't have a bootloader in the nbh. Only the radio rom itself. It will leave whatever bootloader you have intact. Olipro's RUU factory sends Des' SSPL to the device first then runs it. That's why an activesync connection is required.

so i can flash SSPL radio rom 1.35 and xda live and keep my original 1.04 BL? then I dont see a benefit of using hard-ssl for me...

The benefit of Hard spl bootloader will become apparent if something goes wrong during the flash process.
Also, don't confuse SPL bootloaders with Radio bootloaders.

but even if something goes wrong during flash process and i cant get into wm: since i have BL 1.04 and o2 cid, i can flash a shipped o2 rom with my cid without SSPL, no?

correct. loading this "hard SPL" bootloader just makes it even safer all kudos to Olipro, he da man!

I can think of 2 ways to do this.
The first way requires that you have already made your Hermes SuperCID. Essentially, you flash the 1.01MFG bootloader then use that to flash the 1.04 Bootloader. Once complete, you'll be able to upgrade your radio. See the 1.01MFG bootloader thread for files/howto. I believe its all in the Wiki too.
If you are not SuperCID, then you must find the bootleg 1.04 bootloader flash solution to upgrade your radio.

By all means, take the time to SuperCID your device using pof's solution once you're on BL1.04 sam2000
i try many time to flash the 1.04 Bootloader by flash the 1.01MFG bootloader
and evry time error
can you tell me mr Sleuth255 how can downgrade from 1.09 to 1.04 stps by steps
thanks for you
If you are not SuperCID then you cannot succeed until you obtain the bootleg 1.04 downgrade solution. We do not host that here as it contains proprietary IMEI_check code.
However, from you first post it appears that you may be SuperCID since you are running the SA 1.35 TyTN ROM on a JasJam device. If that is the case, you can simply flash the RUU radio upgrade RUU_Hermes_TMD-TMA_Radiopatch_1.27.00.00_107_GER.exe.
edit:
to your question: the key to flashing the 1.04BL from the 1.01MFG bootloader is the version of mtty you are using. If you are trying to follow the instructions using a version of mtty that has the default "MFC" icon, then it won't work. You must use the version of mtty included in the 1.01mfg bootloader download.
my device SuperCID
Best option is to upgrade radio using RUU_Hermes_TMD-TMA_Radiopatch_1.27.00.00_107_GER.exe then.

Dead Link!
The bootleg 1.04 bootloader solution is actively pursued by IMEI-check. It never surfaces for very long....
However, sam2000 doesn't need this since he is already SuperCID. The 1.01MFG bootloader solution can get him to 1.04BL.
Hi...
I've this problem where my friend's Dopod 838 Pro has its flashed crash at 14% and now its Bootloader is 1.09. Its giving the NO GSM error but I cannot seem to downgrade the bootloader because its CID is also corrupted. It doesn't even accept the generic Dopod ROM upgrade!
Anyone one help?

Hot to downgrade raido 1.29.00.11?

Please help!
I have upgraded raido 1.29.00.11 form "Experimental", now I can't change radio to any version.....
How can I do?

You've Probably Flashed Radio Bootloader 108 On To Your Device.
This Means That You Will Not Be Able To Flash Just A Radio Rom Any More. You'll Have To Flash A Whole Rom Just To Upgrade The Radio. There Are Notices About 108 All Over The Forum

If you accidentally flashed your Radio Bootloader, how did you go back to the previous version.
My guess is that you were already SuperCID and you had to load a complete older ROM to get back. Am I correct?

Yes, I had SuperCID.
My method was upgrade to latest ROM (Include SPL-1.09) and twice successive flash.
First, SPL will upgrade 1.09, but radio still 1.29.00.11
Second, Radio will upgrade 1.34.00.10
not quite. Your radio bootloader is not downgraded. You can no longer flash radio in nbf with bl 1.04. You must flash in nbh using bl1.09. Then you can downgrade bootloader to 1.01MFG and flash os/extrom of your choice.

So he can change radio or not?
He can change. But he must start with a specific Bootloader and flash a full RUU in nbh. Then he must put on BL1.01MFG and flash seperate os.nb and extrom to change to the os build he wants. The "radio only" upgrades flash in nbf and will not work any more.

ok thanks, i'm iterresting for radio upgrade only (after bigggg mistake Flashed HTC_BOOT 1.08).
SO no issue for me now:-(
The key here is that Bl1.09 and radio bl 1.0108 work together. 1.09 will not allow the radio to upgrade unless flashed in NBH. Radio bl 1.0108 will not permit upgrades unless initiated from bl 1.09. If superCID is enabled then bl 1.09 will permit any operator's rom, flashed in nbh, to upgrade the radio.
I really need to flowchart this for the wiki... I barely understand this myself...
but why, after restoring all, bootloader 1.01mfg etc. it is still impossible to flash radio rom only?
i can´t get it.
Actuality, I used this ROM "RUU_Hermes_HTC_WWE_2.05.255.1_6275_1.34.00.10 _108 _Test.exe".
After flashed, I don't change SPL to 1.01 MFG or 1.04, just re-flashed it again.
The radio will be change 1.34.00.10.

Device BL 1.09 acts as the "key" for Radio BL 1.0108. By flashing to Device BL 1.01, or any other, you have broken the "key" and now can't access the radio rom...basically.

radio bl 1.0108 won't allow upgrade to occur unless initiated by bl1.09. bl1.09 won't allow radio flashing in nbf (which is what all extracted radio rom only files use)

Bootloader 1.09

somehow i have flashed the bootloader 1.09 onto my device/.. hahaahaha
has anyone been able to flash back to 1.04/1.06??
edit... and no its not SuperCID
One solution is to obtain the bootleg 1.04 bootloader downgrade solution. With bl1.04 in place you can SuperCID. You may also be able to unlock with IMEI-check unlocker which I believe will also SuperCID you for 20 euros. I'm not too clear on this though...
thanks... will try and have a look for it....
found it and tried it but im getting a '262' error.. and does anyone have the Readme.doc file???
woohoo!!!!! all works!!!!! i can confirm it downgrades it to 1.04...
At least you're somewhere. I'd try pof's superCID solution next. It may not work though. If not, you'll have to superCID with IMEI-check's unlocker.
edit:
the reason that pof's solution may not work is that your radio bootloader may not permit flashing of the custom radio rom required to implement it. I'm just not sure what radio you flashed when you mistakenly got bl1.09....
it's never easy.....
flashing POF's SuperCID radio now... currently 19%.....
works!!! now SuperCID after using DownGrade_SPL.rar and then flashing POF's patched radio... now to decide which version of OS and RADIO to update to... Sleuth, can you confirm if i now run an update from the exe will it keep the SuperCID and update the SPL to 1.09??
Best to stay 1.04 or even 1.01 MFG BL.
Flashing in nbh (using ruu exe) will maintain SuperCID so you can always get back to bl1.04 or 1.01MFG by using the bl1.01MFG solution (it includes bl1.04 in the download).
Watch out for the radio you flash though! flashing in nbh updates everything! Check the wiki: if radio bl is 1.0108 you don't want to go there!
Also: first test to make sure you are superCID by using mtty. Issue a "task 32" command. It must return "level = 0"
mmmm interesting... im using the Dopod838Pro variant of the HERM100.... now it was SuperCID, i just reflashed it with the HTC 2.05 Test ROM and now my CID is back to DOPOD001..... any ideas???
I was afraid of that. What's your radio ROM now? I believe you gave yourself a radio with bl 1.0108 when you originally flashed the rom that gave you bl1.09.
bugger.... put bootloader back to 1.04 and now reflashing radio to POF's patched SuperCID radio....
edit... but im curious as to why didnt it save the SuperCID???
pof's radio flash is actually failing because your current radio bl (1.0108) isn't allowing it to flash.
You may be down to purchasing imei-check unlock solution to get superCID. Your radio upgrade choices will be limited too if this is the case.
after you're done flashing and running the update, immediately go to mtty and issue task 32. It must say "level = 0" if you are SuperCID. The update program always says "success" btw.
whats the command in bootloader to get the version of Radio Firmware / BL??
Maybe no need, first get your radio version in settings->system->Device info then look it up in the "available radio roms" wiki section. Radio bl is shown there.
If you are on a radio with bl 1.0108, your options (still a lot of them )are essentially spelled out in this thread.
ok but if i have managed to flash a new version of Radio ROM and Radio BL, if i downgrade the Radio Version to lets say 1.20.31.10 does it keep the newer version of Radio BL??
edit ...... ahh sh**.... Radio version is 1.34.00.10, is there any chance/possibility of downgrading this??? so i can SuperCID my device???

Did you run Herm_Unlock_v2a.exe on your Hermes after flashing the unlocker's 1.16 patched radio? If not, that's why you lost SuperCID.

SuperCID AFTER AKU 3.3?

Hi all
I had a SuperCID Voda v1605 and I stupidly upgraded to the Test 2.05 ROM via EXE and lost SuperCID. Now I can't get SuperCID back even with IMEICheck v4! I do have IPL-1.01 and SPL-1.04 now though.
MTTY info 2 gives Level = FF. No SuperCID there.
Any help or ideas? Really need to unlock the Ext ROM & CID..
Q1: what did you use to SuperCID before AKU 3.3? HERM_Unlock (which version?) or imei-check (which version?) ??
Q2: Have you payed imei-check and don't get SuperCID after running their v4 unlocker?

I used IMEI Check v4 to get the original SuperCID from the Vodafone ROM 1.20. And I paid for the IMEI file for my device. This worked perfectly in the pre-AKU 3.3 days.
I just found IMEI Check v3c and gave that a shot but it failed saying that HTCBoot 0108 isn't supported. v4 gave no errors and claims 'success'.
I really do appreciate input here! Let me know if you need more details or tests done. Thanks!
imei-check unlocker v3 did not make SuperCID stick after rom/radio upgrades, you have to run it again after flashing a rom or radio to get SuperCID again, it also doesn't work with HTC_BOOT 0108.
imei-check unlocker v4 I don't know what it does, but I read from some SoftBank x01ht users with HTC_BOOT 0108 that they are getting SuperCID after running it.
I suggest you to try this:
1. Flash full AKU 2.3 rom with 1.09 bootloader (HTC 1.35 for example).
2. Run imei-check unlocker v4 with the .unl file for your imei.
3. Run HERM_Unlock_v2a.exe on your phone to "hopefully" make SuperCID sticky.
4. Flash a full AKU 3.3 rom again and check your CID.
so your saying that you have Radio bootloader 108 and got SuperCID by using the imei-check unlocker???
Just an other question. I flash my v1605 with ROM2.05 exe file. Before this flash my phone have the South africa rom with SuperCID. Now my HTC_BOOT are 0108. Can i downgrade my radio to 1.27 ?
Thanks
This is what pof say.
If you have a radio with HTC_BOOT 1.0108 on your device, you can't use extracted radio ROMs: This means you will not be able to flash radios in NBF format with MaUpgrade_NoID.exe anymore, you'll allways need to flash them in signed NBH format (ie: full ROM upgrade).
If you have a radio with HTC_BOOT 1.0108 on your device and flash a full ROM upgrade in NBH format, the radio will not be flashed unless your SPL version is 1.09.
If you have a radio with HTC_BOOT 1.0108 on your device and flash a full ROM upgrade in NBH format with SPL-1.09 on your device, your radio will be changed to the radio contained in the NBH file, HOWEVER the radio bootloader will stay the same HTC_BOOT 1.0108.

I did try that. Twice now and it didn't work. I flashed HTC's 1.35 and didn't mess about. End result is still a locked CD. I suppose my only option is to wait for a HTC Radio bootloader downgrade from 0108?

A summary before upgrading to AKU 3.3

I've read and reread various posts about this. I just want to make sure I have the steps down before I go forward.
What I have now:
Cingular 8525
Rom: 1.34.502.1
Radio version : 1.16
SPL: 1.06
What I would like achieve:
Rom: 2.06.502.3
Radion version: 1.27
SPL: 1.04
Ext Rom: 2.06.502.3
1) Downgrade to SPL 1.04 by flashing the 8525 with file RUU_HER_Cingular_1.30.502.1_1.11.00.00_wwe_cws_ship.exe. This is because it matches my CID CWS__001 and it has SPL 1.04. I guess I simply run it without any other preparations. Is this correct?
2) Super CID and simunlock using HTC_Hermes_SIM_Unlock_v2a.zip
3) I choose the ROM RUU_Hermes_CINGULAR_WWE_2.06.502.3_6275_1.33.31.00_108_Ship.exe
4) Use NBExtract to decompress the above ROM to get files OS.nbf and Extrom.nbf file
5) Flash SPL 1.01MFG using mtty.exe. Is this necessary? Can't I flash OS.nbf with SPL1.04?
6) Flash OS.nbf file extracted using mtty.exe
7) Flash extrom.nbf file extracted using mtty.exe
8) Flash radio from file RUU_Hermes_TMD-TMA_Radiopatch_1.27.00.00_107_GER.exe by simply running it. Is this correct?
Am I missing something in the process?
Lastly, Is this the best COMBINATION of ROM, radio, and ext ROM? And how does RUU_Hermes_CINGULAR_WWE_2[1].06.502.3_6275_1.33.31.00_108_Ship compared to 2.05?
Thanks for any input.

You seem to have it figured out, but dont go on what i say here, wait for it to be verified by more than just me
My process (having already got superCID and unlocked a while ago) was to upgrade to radio 1.27.00.00 before anything else, then to flash SPL 1.01MFG using mtty, then flash the OS.nb file from the ROM i chose, then to flash ExtROM.nb (again from the ROM i chose). By using radio 1.27 you will have radio loader 107 which is recommended still.
Once some other people have looked over what you posted then you should go ahead (if they all give the "all clear" )
You combination of rom and radio is a good idea (the ROM and ExtROM is entirely up to you but the radio is the highest that doesnt have loader 108?)
It's even easier than that;
get my Custom RUU kit and you can skip the reflash;
take the 3.3AKU and extract the RUU_Signed.
extract the RUU signed with NBHExtract or my GUI tool (make sure it's all in the same directory) then you can create a NEW RUU with SPL 1.04, whatever radio you like (if you want a new one) and the 3.3 OS AKU.
remember: if you do it this way, you can have whatever components you want; ExtROM, OS, mix and match anything.
however... if you don't think you can manage doing this, tell me what you want and I'll happily assemble it for you
1. SuperCid and Unlock with POF VERSION 3
Website:
http://pof.eslack.org/hermes-unlocker/
Install Instructions:
Easy auto-install Instructions:
Unzip unlocker and run AUTO_Unlock_v3.bat
If you don't want to install automatically, or for some reason the process doesn't work for you, here are the manual instructions:
Transfer SSPL/SSPL-HERM.exe to your phone and run it
Tri-color screen will appear
Disable activesync (file -> connection settings -> uncheck "allow USB connections")
Connect your phone to your computer using the USB lead.
Run RUU/ROMUpgradeUt.exe
Follow the flashing process (Check the "I understand..." and "I completed..." boxes and update!)
Allow your phone to reboot.
Transfer HERM_Unlock_v3.exe program to your phone and run it
Click the Unlock Button, select unlock option. Select if you want SIM/CID unlock.
Click "Unlock!" and wait until process finishes.
When done, turn off your phone for 10 seconds and reboot after that.
2. Then Run this cooked ROM (Cooked w/Olipro software)
http://uploadingit.com/files/8194/RUU_CINGULAR_2.06.502.3_1.27.00.00_SPL1.04.zip
Rom: 2.06.502.3
Radion version: 1.27
SPL: 1.04
Ext Rom: 2.06.502.3
I think radio 1.33 or 1.34 is better then 1.27. I do not see a difference between 1.33 or 1.34 though.
You pretty much had the process but this will be easier for you.
just to point out; SuperCID and Unlock (unless using a different SIM) is unnecessary and *could* potentially invalidate your warranty.
SuperCID is pretty much redundant nowadays with the new SSPL; the only real advantage to having your device SuperCID is if there isn't a ROM for your CID with old version stuff to revert to.
Thank you for all the replies! I appreciate it.
@mrvanx and wpbear
The reason stated using unlocker v2a was because, from what I understand, if I use v3 it would put a patched 1.08 Radio BL (which I thought we want to avoid). Which means that I won't be able to "downgrade" to a lower version radio. Am I wrong?
@mrvanx
You said that I didn't need to downgrade to 1.04 BL because I could use 1.01MFG. I thought that I couldn't do that with 1.06 or higher. I had to downgrade to 1.04 first.
@wpbear
I assume in order to use your custom cooked ROM, I have to SuperCID right?
@Olipro
Thanks for the offer of cooking up a ROM. I think wpbear's ROM has everything I wanted. But again, if I wanted to use your ROM, I would have to SuperCID? Also, where can I get your GUI?
But what is the best combination right now of OS, Ext, and radio?
Thanks again!

Nevermind, I found your GUI. Thanks!
The only advantage of real SuperCID is being able to write to extrom once you've unlocked it.
You did a real nice v1.0 upgrade set of instructions btw They were perfect. In fact that's exactly what I did to upgrade my 8525.
However, the recent explosion of NBHtools that take advantage of Des' SSPL technique (nicely done Olipro btw )have opened up much better ways to accomplish this now.

no, you do *not* have to SuperCID at all with my RUU since it uses SSPL.
if you use the custom RUU (and you can tell, it has the XDA Dev logo on) then your device does not need to be SuperCID

You SHOULD be ok, i downgraded to SPL 1.01MFG from version 1.09 by just flashing it using mtty.exe. I followed the instructions on the How to Flash AKU3.3 Update thread (the first post) to get my new ROM onto my device. I used the HTC AKU3.3 Test ROM and it worked just great.

@mrvanx and wpbear
The reason stated using unlocker v2a was because, from what I understand, if I use v3 it would put a patched 1.08 Radio BL (which I thought we want to avoid). Which means that I won't be able to "downgrade" to a lower version radio. Am I wrong?

I do not think Pof unlocker put BL 108 on your device, but it doesnt matter anymore since SSPL bypass this and you can now still do radio only changes.

No, the bootloader bypasses this now, but as someone else pointed out, if you want to change your Ext_ROM with the hack in the Wiki later, you will need to SuperCID still.

I used the cooked ROM RUU_CINGULAR_2.06.502.3_1.27.00.00_SPL1.04.zip for the upgrade. One question, I have SPL 1.06 before upgrading. Since the cooked ROM has 1.04 in it, I thought it would downgrade to 1.04. Instead, the SPL did not change. Why?
Same result, same question.
Why?
Where can I download this Rom?
Where can I download this Rom?
Download link doesn't work....

Are you SuperCID with POf unlocker?
SuperCID/unlock yes. POF no.
Wiki and numberous posts indicate if the unit is SuperCID, it is SuperCID period however there is a v2 v2a and v3.
Is there more to SuperCID than just SuperCID?
Sometimes it sticks and sometimes it does not?
Can v3 be run over top of an existing SuperCID/unlocked unit without risk?
True you are either SuperCID or not, but we have seen people loose SuperCID for no apparent reason. Use mtty and check if you are still SuperCID.
Still superCID, still 1.06.
