I've extracted the radio ROM from latest Dopod chinese ROM and packaged here as a standalone NBH radio upgrade:
HERM_RADIO_1.38.00.10_Only_SSPL.rarThis radio has HTC_BOOT 0108 and no GPS enabled.
Keep in mind that the safest procedure to upgrade your radio right now is:
Flash Hard-SPL v1.10.Oli on your phone
Flash the desired radio upgrade using the RUU package
Both steps have to be done with phone connected to computer through USB cable and activesync enabled, Des SSPL will be pushed into your phone when the RUU starts.
Remember that when flashing a radio only you don't need to hard-reset your phone, so no data will be lost.
Note: Same radio GPS enabled (from trinity) is available here
Enjoy!
Thanks pof!
Flashing now...
EDIT- Flashed 100% ok, now using with full network reception.
Will post again if there's any probs.
is it have problems when i flash this radio to my x10HT?
no, there is nothing at all special about the x10HT folks...
personally, I recommend everyone uses this one instead of the trinity radio simply because we can't have GPS anyway and for the power you're wasting on non-working chip, it's pointless.
just wanted to say thanks. i had the newest trinity rom installed earlier and this has better battery life.
thanks a lot pof
I think I'll give this one a try... Thanks!
Given my device is SuperCID, does it make sense to apply the Hard-SPL still?
I have HERM_RADIO_1.38.00.11 but I install this new radio because the previous one spent the battery to me very fast.
moving over to this, no point having the gps enabled deal!
Completely agree, until we can get the GPS on the hermes working (which is unlikely due to bricking risk) there really is no need for us to have the GPS rom from the trin.
pof! thanks man I also had the gps 11 version and i figured why not go with the 10 version as well since we wont get GPS anytime soon, i will test for a few days and report back...
Removed the Trinity 1.38 radio very quickly but initial impressions of this native Hermes ROM are far more favourable.
Not had it installed long enough to get an impression of battery life yet but reception and stability seem good so far.

Hi,
I am a SoftBank X01HT user. Recently a rom update was released and I applied it.
ftp://210.136.175.150/F1_RUU/RUU_X01HT_1.33.761.4_1.14.00.10.exe
After update the bootloader version changed to 1.09, so I downgraded the bootloader to 1.04 and it seems to be successful (I confirmed it in bootloader mode screen). Then I installed the DoCoMo version shipped rom of following versions.
ROM Version: 1.23.731.2
Radio Version: 1.06.00.10
Bootloader: 1.04
Language: JPN (Japanese)
CID: DOCOM801
The installation finished successfully, but the radio version is 1.14!!
ROM Version:1.23.731.2
Radio Version:1.14.00.10
I tried to upgrade radio to 1.20 but in vain. I ran MaUpgradeUt_noID.exe and it seemed to work correctly till 99% (however it shows ERROR 114 finally).
After soft reset, I found that the radio version was still 1.14.00.10.
What's the matter? Anyone can help please?
Best regards,

In addition I tried this rom with bootloader 1.09 and radio 1.18.00.10.
ftp://xda:[1].35.255.2_1.35.255.102_1.08.00.10_SHIP.EXE
The radio rom was not upgraded to 1.18, it remains 1.14.
very weird... can you attach a usb-monitor capture when trying to flash another rom? see the wiki (upgrading problems) for instructions on how to use usb-monitor.
pof, see http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=1068511&postcount=35
might be due to the new SoftBank ROM sold since December?
Even they http://www.imei-check.co.uk/m3100unlock.php couldn't do it:
The Unlocker it will NOT WORK with Japanase Softbank devices with SPL1.09 and radio 1.14.00.10 sold after 1st December 2006. To check your spl just put the phone in bootloader :hold the [OK] button (from the left side of the phone where the volume button is) and the [power on] button and in same time press the [reset] hole (near to the charger connector -- use stylus to press it!) and you can see IPL and SPL
Radio version can be checked from Start->Settings->System->Device Information:Radio Version.
If you buy the unlocker and claim that your phone is a 1.09 we will NOT refund you. We don't know when we will release a new update or IF we will release one!!!

Yes, I think the new softbank device has the radio area "read only" somehow, that makes impossible to patch the radio in order to SIM/CID unlock. However I would like to see a USB Monitor capture of the process when trying to flash a radio rom on it, to see exactly what the bootloader returns. If anyone can attach it, it would be great

Would be an explaination but uedam said he is stuck on 1.14.0.1 since he installed the new X01HT ROM. This implies he had another version before - so it seems that the read only effect isn't caused by the hardware but by the ROM and can't be removed by flashing another ROM (at the moment).
Perhaps there is a hidden command executed when the ROM is flashed. Something that write-protects a range in memory. But I have no explaination why the process runs until 99%.
Someone has to log the USB traffic when flashing the new ROM.
By the way: I'm not willing to test this on my own device

pof,
I installed usbmon and tried radio rom 1.20 upgrade again (it also failed...)
Here is the log files exported from usbmon. I hope it will help to solve the problem.

Sorry, the file was too large to attach to this post.
p.s. If you need further information, please let me know.
Thanks uedam, the process seems to be the same like in every other device. The only "minor" strange thing is that when flashing a 0x10000 byte block at address 0x6d0000 you get a failure the first time, then the RUU does an 'rerase' of this memory portion, tries again and gets a success, and follows with the radio flashing process. But I think this has nothing to do with the problem we're facing here.

Yes, before upgrade I unlocked my X01HT and used with DoCoMo rom. The radio version was 1.06.00.10.
I uploaded the USB traffic log and please view the file. Does the same thing occur when writing another rom? or this is the first case?

Hmmm, would it make sense to have him log the full-upgrade process - presumably the "locking" happened when he did the RUU_X01HT_1.33.761.4_1.14.00.10.exe
and hopefully it would happen even if Radio 1.14 were already on the system when he re-did the full upgrade.....

ftp://xda:/Uploads/Hermes/Tools_and_Programs/fullupgradelog.zip
It's beyond my comprehension.
p.s. It's very large (about 400MB text file, the zip is about 120MB)
Hey uedam, nice work dude!
I've had a quick look and seems a normal upgrade to me, I see nothing related to the write-locking of the radio, but will look at it more deeply later, in case I skipped something important.
However I extracted GSM.nb from softbank 1.33.761.4 ROM and GSM.nb from HTC 1.18.416.1ROM which both should be radio 1.14.00.10 but the files are different, so I guess the locking is done in the radio itself (??).

pof, it sounds quite interesting. Softbank built the special version of 1.14.00.10 radio?
So, if possible, we cook new rom which includes radio rom same as HTC 1.18.416.1 rom then the person who has 1st version of X01HT can upgrade it safely?

If it is impossible, the person who has contract with softbank will have much trouble. Because they have to upgrade their devices till 1st of April in order to use internet connection. Softbank announced that we would not be able to connect to the net without upgrading to new rom.

Where is this announced? My understanding is that it is not possible to use "Direct Internet" if you don't have the latest ROM but you can still access the internet via normal packet communication - it's more expensive though.

I'm running ROM Version 1.18.255.3
Radio Version 1.03.03.10

I want to know if I can upgrade the Radio version to one of the newer ones. I have an HTC TyTN, unlocked, using Cingular Service. I'm just worried that if I upgrade the radio I won't get any access...any tips, or suggestions?
Yes I have read the Hermes upgrading guide, but it doesn't answer my questions.
I'd try re-reading it, and a few threads on here that have to deal with RADIO roms....

Hi sir, it would be better for you to thoroughly read the wiki and various threads on this. Having seen your ROM version etc... I would definatly recommend flashing a newer TyTN rom, the latest one available that is still in WM5 is the AKU3.3 ROM which has the newer radio rom in it aswell, you will possibly get better call reception etc.... also the ROM is a HELL of alot more stable than the one you are running now. Video playback in TCPMP/Coreplayer works with ATi Imageon turned on, and works flawlessly in rawframbuffer mode (so you can watch divx and things on your TyTN....worth it for the train)
Dont be too quick to flash it though....definatly read up on what you are doing before you go ahead. Any more questions (once you have read up ) come back here.
Alright, I was up pretty late last night reading the wiki. I'll continue to read today, and then I'll have some more questions. I've almost got it sorted, so...
Thanks alot guys for the help, as I was considering returning my TyTN, and going back to my older mobile.

:O NO WAY!!!!! you havent even touched the realms of stuff you can do with it!
Ok so heres some questions to start off with.
After reading the wiki, I kind of took myself in a loop. At first I just wanted to upgrade the Radio. It told me to downgrade to 1.04, and then I would be able to load any radio version I wanted. So I went to the downgrade page, and it said I needed the CID Unlocker. I tried to download that, however the zip is a corrupt file. If anyone has it, and could send it to me, that would be appreciated.
Now my next question is...do I need to use the CID Unlocker to be able to upgrade the ROM? Or can I just download AKU 3.3, install it, and it will flash the ROM without any problems.
Thanks!
EDIT: So I went here...http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=282073, to check the CID / SIM Unlocker, but it says I need to downgrade to 1.04, because I can upgrade.
Try reading: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=293665
I read that, and I went ahead and ran the program.
I'm still using SPL 1.06
ROM Version still 1.18.255.3
Radio has been updated to 1.16.00.00.
Reception still hasn't changed much. I'll have 4Bars to start with, and then it will drop to 2...
I also used the CID/SIM Unlocker, so I'm good to go.
That means I should be able to load AKU3.3 right? Or should I downgrade to SPL 1.04 first?

So youve unlocked the device and changed it to SuperCID. Good work.
Just run the latest AKU3.3 HTC rom (its at the top). You will get an updated radio version and the new AKU, remember to backup all your stuff and be prepared to reinstall all the settings/applications. As i said again, dont flash the rom unless you are sure you know what you are doing.
I should be good. I'm about to run it, once it finishes the download.
I just have 2 conerns...will the radio reception be any better, and 2 is it really that much better? I was looking for the "updates faq's", or what was included, but I didn't see anything.
Also the other thing, is not really a concern but more of it being tiedious, is re-entering all of the WAP, and MMS, settings...ballocks...oh well. Here goes...

If you are going to play with the TyTN like us people on here are (such as testing WM XDA-Live) you will get used to adding the MMS/GPRS settings.
There is a NOTICEABLE improvement in reception from radio version 1.27.00.00 onwards, the version in the HTC-AKU3.3 rom package is 1.34.10.00 so you SHOULD see a slight improvment. Stability is by far the best thing on that ROM.
I highly recommend downloading TCPMP and trying out some .avi files on it as it is the version with the ATi Imageon chip working as desired.
Since upgrading to radio 1.27 (and later to 1.35.00.11) the 3G reception of my TyTN has improved alot, such that i can get 3G reception downstairs where before i only got strong GSM.
Alright, the upgrade went smooth, now I just have to go and add in the MMS, and GPRS settings, so...I'll get around to that a little later.
So I have the latest ROM version, with the latest boot loader. I am a little dissapointed though. Even with the newest Radio version, it still does not pickup a signal as well as my Sony W810i did. Prehaps interference, from the bluetooth, or the Wi-Fi radios. However I don't even have those turned on. Hurm...
The OS runs alot smoother than the previous build. Now I just have to go in and tweak the settings. Everything else though seems to be nice.
About the radio. With my W810i, the signal was very strong, even when in the buildings on my college campus. However the reception from the TyTN, isn't as strong. This might end up being the breaking point...I'll keep testing it out, so we'll see.
As of right now though, I've full integrated my life into this device. I have my comlete daily schedule planned in with classes, meetings, ect. Today in class, rather than taking notes I was able to logon to the website, and download the powerpoint presentation that was being used, and used that for my notes. Gotta love having a campus that is 100% Wi-Fi.
Thanks for the help with the upgrade. I'm glad you stepped in otherwise I would have turned around and sold it, even though I've very happy with my TyTN, everything but the Radio problem though...
uh, "Latest" Boot Loader? You mean you put 1.09 on the phone? or are you talking about the RADIO bootloader? That you now have 0108?
If you put 1.09 on the phone you'll want to, IMHO, read about how to DOWNGRADE to Oli's 1.10.oli or 1.01MFG or 1.04 if you really want...
You should be able to do it with SSPL, but, I'd suggest you READ CAREFULLY this time.
Yeah its 1.09.
I'll take a look into what you just mentioned, and read up on it, now that I'm more familiar, and a little more secure with this. I was kind of worried, about flashing the rom, after reading alot of the "be careful...", or "at your own risk". So...
Obviously I will procceed with caution...
Any other pointed, tips would be appreciated. Thanks as always!
After a lot of work, experimentation and hundreds of hours of development time, AP4 is finally ready.
PK - ROM cook, and professional harasser of developers, we gave him the ROM and he chucked the crap into it.
cmonex - Special Adviser/Developer/Low-Level Hacker; when not being harassed by PK, took a few spare minutes in the day to learn C# and write a config app with Olipro in the same stretch... also saved the PDA world with revolutionary new kernel and other patches, also included in AP4.
Olipro - the Hard-SPL guy; largely considers himself to be "too good" for the menial **** and so only enjoys things such as implementing overwrite protection for SPLs with none built-in with cmonex and replacing the HTC signing certificate (oh fooking yes baby). Also found time from blowing cigar smoke in the faces of small children to write the ROM deployer.
So, Here it is:

Smartarses beware: don't try to flash from bootloader.
also, if you need the changelog, great tips and addons, then as usual, go to PK's great thread Athena Project 4.0 Series

Did not have to install drivers while in bootloader mode. windows never wanted any. made me a bit edgy so i let it wait 10 min. but everything went fine.
Nice and clear instructions. Kudos to the ap team
Btw everything working fine also wifi.

I wouldn't bother with flashing ap3,
just flash the radio, either 1.50 or 1.57 using

nope nothing special for the radio although some people tend to take the sim and sd card out.

great, thanx for the info. appreciate it. will do as recommended and report back.
Good Job guys!
Great work on a Great ROM!
Let see those donations flow in everyone!
I saw something here about this from azclown and really want to know if it is true.
After flashing nueSPL is it possible to downgrade to other bootloaders?
I tried to run unlocker (Olipro 1.20) and it wouldn't connect right. Do I need to use relocker then load 1.20 then load stock rom. I am testing this out for another phone right now and am a little curious why this would be created so that no other bootloaders could be reloaded.
What I am realizing is that this bootloader is not such a good idea for Verizon users, being that they will not be able to revert to the stock rom (as Verizon has not released a GPS Rom yet).
Am I right here?

um, DO NOT attempt to DOWNGRADE your SPL unless you want a permanent brick.
reasoning:
ALL ATTEMPTS whatsoever to downgrade the radio to a pre-GPS radio have F-A-I-L-E-D. They have all resulted in BROKEN BRICKED IRREPARABLE devices.
1.xx SPLS are not (at least that i'm aware of, compatible with GPS radios)
therefore, you cannot downgrade your radio to 1.xx.
You can downgrade to olipro-2.40, but thats pretty much it. Unless your device is SuperCID, i would NOT ADVISE locking your device, because you will only be able to download updates signed by VZW, and as we all know - there are none.
If warranty is a concern,... it would be better to turn in a complete brick than a partial brick. flash a modified VZW OS Only with proper OEMDRIVERS, then run my relocker and lock the SPL down, then warranty it. /... I wouldn't suggest this for anything else, because in case of a bad OS flash, you'd be pretty screwed...
Thanks for chiming in on this no2chem, there's a lot of good information in that post!

True, I see your point about returning a complete brick. The rest is fine I guess.
Thanks!

now, by that do you mean they werere were bricked by downgrading the radio with nueSPL previously (or currently) loaded on the device, or downgrading the radio on a device that never had nueSPL loaded on it?
the only reason i ask this is because ive done several radio downgrades from olipro 2.4 to 1.2 to the stock radio/ROMs for refurbishment and ive never had a problem. i dont use the stock SPL because theres no tech around here smart enough to check it.

No2chem.. I think I am an exception or my XV6800 must be special because I actually messed up my phone because i wanted the new Radio 3.42.02 but couldn't get my Phone to Flash From SD.. So I had to flash a sprint 3.56 ROM to get the Radio and then flashed Verizon kitchen before Sprint customization started.. but for some weird reason.. Sprint customization still ran after i flash the Verizon ROM.. My EPST Settings were all Sprint.. lols..
These are the steps I took to bring it back..
1. Ran Titan_Relocker to relock SPL from version 2.40 Olipro
2. Flashed Stock Verizon ROM and let Verizon Customization run
3. Unlock using NueSPL2.47 letting it format my SD card to enable Flashing from SD [Thank GOD you added this feature]
4. Placed the new Radio 3.42.30 onto my SD card and enter Bootloader and Flashed it [Thanks to You]
5. then flashed my Verizon kitchen.. All with no problem..
I've discussed this method with some of the guys over at PPCKitchen.org and they were concerned about me bricking my phone.. but I said oh what the heck.. my phone is already messed up..
every one was supprised that it worked.. lol.. I must be one of the lucky few..

weird. what were you running before step 1?
the problem seems to manifest itself when you take a GPS radio, and flash a 2.xx RADIO onto it. When you flashed the verizon stock rom, are you sure you had the 2.xx radio on it?
the reason everyone was concerned about your phone though, was because there were several bricks produced by downgrading radios - ask ImCokeMan, he'll tell you..

I didn't quite understand your question..
"When you flashed the verizon stock rom, are you sure you had the 2.xx radio on it?"
When I ran Titan_Relocker.. it installed version 1.06..
Before the Sprint radio upgrade I had...
Hard SPL2.40 Olipro
Radio 3.39.10
No2chem wm6.1 5067 Kitchen
I have also went from a GPS radio to the stock verizon radio/rom a few times because of accidentally letting sprint customizations run.
i am not 100% sure if i had the stock radio on my phone. however it worked with stock verizon rom and phone/ data/ text all worked in stock verizon rom/radio.... so i assume it was the correct radio since it worked with the stock rom...?
EDIT: i do believe i had verizon 1.3 radio on my phone after flashing back from a GPS radio
also i remember reading somewhere that if you do flash back to a stock radio/ rom that it might say stock radio but it will still have components of the gps radio's... i think i read it at ppcgeeks

i also have downgraded radio from 3.xx to 1.xx without any problems.
I flashed back to non gps as well. I was having bad experiences with dcd's 2.x so I went to his 1.7. No issues flashing at all.
I have also downgraded to 2 different phones from GPS radios to NON-GPS radios.... Verizons stock radio is 1.30, not a 2.x radio, so that may be the issue for some other folks on different carriers.... It may be an incompatibility with 2.x radios and GPS radios.... I have a folder on my desktop that has all the files necessary AND the instructions clearly written out on how to downgrade..... It has saved my butt 2 times now....

hmm, it might actually be an issue with 2.X radios. I'll do a little bit of research on this one.

Ya I used to switch from gps to nongps all the time back when the original leaked radio was the only one out... I also converted my last phone (sent in for broken button) back to complete stock vzw (locked and all) as well....
I haven't tried doing any downgrading after installing nueSPL though... are you indicating this is a probelm after flashing nueSPL? Your post has me a 'lil scared now but I'll wait for followups before I attempt anything.. no plans to go back to nongps anyways, though... the new radios seem to have the bugs worked out.

Only No2chem knows for sure, but after reading his post again I think he's saying you can downgrade to Ollipro 2.4, if thats the case then one should be able to downgrade back to stock as well....
I think no2 is onto something here. I am on VZW also and have gone back to stock from a 3.xx gps radio --> stock 1.30 radio.
I have a feeling that for once we may be glad that verizon never does any updates - they still use 1.30 radio - and that may be the common thread in all our (vzw) success at going back to non gps.
I'd say that I was onto this before him.... He just knows how to verify it...

and i would agree with you!
Speaking of the man himself ^^^^ .. I would note that you had all the data, I just thought it was odd that anyone who tried to go back to a 2.X radio would brick it, while us verizon folks would go back to 1.X and have no issues....
Last saturday i have upgraded my Touch Dual with the latest official Dutch ROM from HTC. These are my first impressions:
My nike was running with HardSPL v.1.15 and an custom build ROM with the dopod s600 dll inside. After the upgrade my SPL was still showing the same 1.15 version.
At first i thought the performance of the new rom was much slower than the WM6.0 ROM, so i did the following. I reverted back to the original spl that came with this phone (v1.16) using NetrunnersAT instructions and did the flash again. After that the my SPL was showing version 1.22.0000 and the performance of the phone was way better. I'm now very happy with the performance. The only thing i'm now waiting for, is the Hardware 3d drivers to run smoothly on this ROM.
I'm very curious about everyone else's experiences.
For the people how want to flash their branded (vodafone, orange etc etc) touch dual's, follow these steps:
1. download the spl files (flash-uspl-niki.zip & sspl-1.16-nike) from this thread.
2. REMOVE SIM and SD CARDS !!
3. connect usb cable
4. copy sspl-1.16-nike.exe to your device and run it (usb cable must be connected!)
5. after a few seconds "USB" appears on the display
6. unplug and replug the usb cable
8. you can now flash the USPL by running ROMUpdateUtility.exe from flash-uspl-niki
9. after installing the uspl the phone will reboot
10. after that you can flash the new HTC rom update.
Congratulations, you are now running the new Windows Mobile 6.1 ROM, with the new 1.22 SPL and the new 1.65.28.25 Radio rom.
Note: To solve the bug with not getting the sim pincode screen after the upgrade, you have to switch the phone function off and on using the comm manager, or touch the signal icon at the top the screen to make it come back again.
Good ROM, faster than the "old" wm6 ROM.
Yes for me its really faster than the original rom
and it have the Cube
never mind, i looked with my eyes closed, got it from dutch htc webbie
Performance is alot better.
Sux that they removed Microsofts new home screen so that the only "advanced" home screen you got is the same "HTC Home" as in the old version. It would be nice to be able to choose the new home screen that Microsoft have made in WM6.1

Anyone else to confirm this?
And how can you flash the update again after reverting back to original spl? Is it because you have an unbranded niki? Mine is from orange, will i be able to flash with spl 1.16?

Is it really necessary to flash the new rom again after reverting back to spl 1.16?
Why flashing spl 1.16 not enough?
Thx

In my case, the only way to get the new 1.22 SPl installed. was to revert back to the original 1.16 SPl and then reflash the new rom again. I guess the new update only installs the new spl, if the original 1.16 is installed.

Hey twolf,
I have the feeling it's even better than the dopod s600 response.
Grtz
I have tried a few things
If you have HardSpl on your device , no new SPL will be flashed.
If you have USpl on your device you will get new SPL (1.22) on your device. No need for Original SPL, USpl is enough.
USpl is always overwritten if you flash a "full" Rom.
I have the feeling if new SPL 1.22 is on the device it's a bit faster than (Hard)SPL 1.15/1.16 could also only be a feeling

New HTC 6.1 on my Niki
the new rom run nice - first the battery consumption is higher compare to other kitchen roms and the general performance is a bit slow.
anyone share same impression?
Until now, my impression is that this rom runs very nice. Performance is just a little bit slower than cooked roms. But my oppinion is, the rom is more stable than cooked ones.
Free Space could be better :-(
~ 105MB Storage
~ 55MB Ram
Battery drain i cant say much to, because i have my nike nearly the whole day connected to my pc.
Signal strength is better tahn old roms.
No problems found so far, al my programs i use are ok.
UPDATE:
I have tested SPL 1.15MFG and 1.22, my feeling 1.22 speeds up the device a bit.
For performance feelings, it would be nice if people could post wich spl they use:
1.15MFG, or 1.22?
There's people telling that the new spl 1.22 make the official wm6.1 upgrade faster and i think it would be interesting to know if this is really the case.
I have hard spl 1.15mfg on my device and running wm6.1 for one day now. Can't really notice any performance gain since. What is the most easy way to get my spl to 1.22 now?
I have upgrade the phone from my wife and I found that after the start the screen where you need to enter your pin code is not there, it only visable for 1 second and then it disapears.
Anyone has the same issue, and what can I do to resolve it.
I've got the same issue. It looks like something is starting over it and put the pin-code screen tot the background. When you touch the signal icon at the top the screen comes back again. If that won't work you can put your phone into flight mode and than into normal mode and your pincode request is there.
