We are seeing almost every week updates for the tytn like wm6 or aku3.3! But they don't have the wpa2 in wifi settings!!!!!!1
Anyone has a experimental radio that supports wpa2??
I read that a Swedish rom aku3.3 has wpa2! Isn't because of the radio that they are using supports it (that comes with the package)?
The radio part (GSM.nb) controls the Qualcomm 6275 chip which handles mostly GSM/GPRS/3G/WCDMA/HSDPA (and GPS) part of the phone.
Wifi is handled by a complete separate chip from Texas Instruments, so a radio upgrade will not help getting WPA2 on the phone, that's handled by the wifi firmware / drivers / supplicant on OS side.
So we have to wait for a officially OS realase and hope that brings the wpa2 ?

My XDA
ROM ver 3.14.17 ENG
ROM date 10/11/02
Radio version 4.16
Protocol version 32S54
My problems are:
1.weak signal
2.phone hangs and wont automatically reconnect to network until I switch it off and back on.
Is that only my bad lack or others have similar problems?
Is there a possibility of improving this by change of settings or...?
Any comments appreciated :?:
MY XDA Freezes and Drops Calls
Hello, I am in Ireland. My Phone Hangs and Drops every now and then. It Releases itself after about 5 minutes. Sometimes I answer a call and it drops the line at this stage. I went into an o2 shop to ask them about this but they suggested that there is no other customers with this problem.
the same problem with ROM 3.15.15 ENG / Radio 4.16.00
I have the same hang up problem. I bought mine in Australia as well but use it all around the world, for that matter i have never used it in Australia but i have the hang up problem sometimes. Never the weak signal though. Maybe i am just lucky.
Exactly the same problem with xda bought in HK and used in Russia. And as i note this problem occurs while other mobile phone near xda shows "good" signal level. So I have to restart phone each hour
3.15.15 ENG / 4.16.00
I'm ready to write program which will switch phone module off and on hourly

hi have had and am hainvg same problem, phone freezing and dropping out and weak signal when signal is fine in a phone.
did you find a solution to this?

Same problem in SG. 3.14.17ENG with 4.16 Radio stack. Took my XDA to the service center and they upgraded the radio stack to 4.17... Seems like improved so far but not sure if this is a complete resolution yet. Have not seen this radio stack released on the internet yet.
I have the same problem - I seem to be getting a good signal, and all of a sudden the audio just clicks off totally, while the connection time is still ticking over. I've installed the new official patches which seemed to slightly improve things, but the problem still occurs. It'd be nice if someone could resolve this, I've got no idea.
Hi all,
Have the same problem here in Saudi Arabia if the signal gets week at some spot it will not come back only after a reset..
Hello folks,
I have a QTEK 1010 bought from Dubai in October 2003.
Model PW10A1
ROM version 3.16.52 ENG
ROM Date 03/10/03
Radio version 3.19.01
Protocol version 32S54
The device works well but periodically goes off (PDA and cell phone) and pressing the power button at this point soft resets it. I have tried removing add on software (D9 dialer and SMS name utility), soft resetting and hard resetting.
A hard reset seemed to solve the problem - until I synched with Outlook again - but then maybe I did not wait long enough since even after synching and software being loaded, it does fine for hours at a stretch. It is my impression that an incoming or missed call causes it to do that but since it happens inconsistently, I cannot tell.
My questions: -
Is this more likely to be solved by a ROM upgrade or a Radio upgrade? Or is this likely to be a hardware issue? A friend and I bought two devices together but his ROM and radio versions are higher numbers. He does not have this problem but then his cellular provider is different.

Hi everyone, love the site
Due to fortunate (and cheap) circumstances I am now the owner of two XDA/Wallaby/Qtek 1010 devices.
After much playing, I got to wondering if it was possible to modify these devices so they communicate directly with each other rather than using the existing (vodafone NZ) GSM network. I assume it would at least require modification of the radio stack ROM, if it is even possible. I guess the existing functions provided by the radio stack to the OS would be restricted to specific network related operations.
Does anyone have any further information about this, or modification of the radio stack? Also what are the risks? I understand that the wallaby is pretty resilient to permanant breakage through dodgy flash writes etc.
BTW if this sort of modification is illegal due to frequency licencing etc, then I am asking about this in a purely hypothetical sense
as far as i know it's supported by all of gsm pda's
when one setup a connection
one pick cellline rather then grps
ppl who have an isp which dont use grps
use it that way
of cause for 2 devices it would require software to work
where one acted server and the other client
like the good old seriel cable connection between 2 pc's
whoops, I mean without any celluar network involvement at all, just device to device communication over the cell phone radio of the devices. Pretty strange idea I know, but would it be possible?
if they used the 900/1800/1900 Frequiencys it would be illegal as it would interupt other devices in the area from being able to reach their gsm antennas
hmm damn there goes that idea. Such potential for long range comms too!
Dear all,
I'm the (un)happy owner of a HTC TYTN (u know the QTEK 9600 or moreover SPV 3100 from Orange) with an Orange contract.
It was a nightmare to configure the wap and mms settings. Anyway, it seems there is another problem, more serious than the settings: I've got a lot of network(s) issues. Either in GPRS or UMTS mode, I have a very bad signal strengh (compared side by side with my previous Nokia 6680), let say not far from half of the signal on the TyTN. The other problem is that I often have some disconnections and I thought it was when the phone tries to switch from GPRS band to UMTS one. Indeed, it's very strange, either I'm in standby (no move at all) or on movement, swithing appears and of course the data connexion is interrupted.
Well all that said, my question is quite simple: do you think an upgrade and certainly more a Radio (if it's supposed to provide a better "radio" power) ROM may get my life better?
Should someone from Orange (customer of course) with the same model help me by extracting an Orange ROM?
Kind regards for your help, I'm still totally angry at brands like HTC releasing some un-finished products without any decent support!

You can probably think of this as the RF (Radio Frequency) driver if you like, it is firmware (software for the hardware) that controls the way the device handles anything to do with RF, so thats wifi, gsm, hsdpa, bluetooth and GPS.
The main thing is, each radio version performs differently in different regions of the world, and also is dependant on your mobile provider. Performance being mainly down to voice quality, if you have a certain radio, and you have lots of drop outs, dropped calls and so on, its quite possible you need to try a different radio.
For instance for us in the UK, 0300 or 0321 is by far the best choice, in europe many people find 1600 or 1700 to be better.
Many people in Asia find 1800 to be best.
thx for answer
I'm currently developing a device driver in Linux and I was hoping to be able to obtain the current signal strength at my program's leisure. I was hoping to obtain this directly from the hardware, itself, however I don't know the actual chip used for 3G communication. Up until recently I've been using a similar phone to the S II, the docomo LTE version not released in North America which had Qualcomm's MDM9200 on it. Although this was through a proprietary protocol (QMI), I wasn't sure if this were at all possible on the AT&T Galaxy S II since it may or may not have a different 3G chip in it.
I know this is possible in user-space -- in fact I've been going through code snippets of methods for establishing communication with Qualcomm's (somewhat old but still supported) DM port, however not only is this not fast enough for my purposes but not in the android kernel, either.
