Custom RUU V5.2 - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam Software Upgradin

new custom RUU is complete;
ROM Cookers, the good news is that this is now a single file, simply provide it with an NBH and you have compatibility with all SPL versions.
Fifth edition... with detection of all SPL versions, plus a very special selection of two soft-load options, including an "Unsafe" SPL which can be used to flash your device back to any SPL you desire.
5.2 is a small patch to fix an error with the unsafe SSPL not allowing you to overwrite the bootloader

Good Work Olipro One Question When Will It Be Available?
Cheers

fantastic Oli,

Great work, guy! (as usual )

Great works.

ok, Custom RUU is released, enjoy

uhm... minor bug in the old release... replaced

Thanks. You make life a lot easier....

Olipro, I can't flash using your new RUU and Hard 1.11SPL.
I got installed your Hard SPL 1.11. Start the RUU and selected "SPL-1.11 Bootloader" and mark "Is it Hard-SPL?", Everithing goes well but, when it tries to start the upgrade, the machine hibernates and, after some seconds an error 260 appears.
IMHO the RUU can't start the Hard-SPL 1.11.
Any clue?
EDIT: It doesn't leave a RUU.log in C:\ like previous version (?)
Thanks and best regards.

@VivaErBetis: put your phone in bootloader mode manually, then start the upgrade.

@VivaErBetis
Do you realy have SPL 1.11 on your phone? I think it means "Olipro SPL 1.11" is not SPL 1.11.
"Olipro SPL 1.11" can also be "SPL 1.04" and "Is it Hard-SPL"
So you must choose your original SPL and "Is it Hard-SPL".

no, you're horribly wrong.
1.11.Oli is based on SPL-1.11, 1.10.Oli is based on SPL-1.04

Great stuff Oli
So, let me get this straight: just stick an nbh in the same location as this and run yeah?
Genius and simple!

So, do I run this instead of romupgradeut.exe that comes with, for example, the WM6 roms, if I have hard-spl 1.11 installed?

yes, put it in an empty folder along with the NBH you want to flash, that's all.

A summary before upgrading to AKU 3.3

I've read and reread various posts about this. I just want to make sure I have the steps down before I go forward.
What I have now:
Cingular 8525
Rom: 1.34.502.1
Radio version : 1.16
SPL: 1.06
What I would like achieve:
Rom: 2.06.502.3
Radion version: 1.27
SPL: 1.04
Ext Rom: 2.06.502.3
1) Downgrade to SPL 1.04 by flashing the 8525 with file RUU_HER_Cingular_1.30.502.1_1.11.00.00_wwe_cws_ship.exe. This is because it matches my CID CWS__001 and it has SPL 1.04. I guess I simply run it without any other preparations. Is this correct?
2) Super CID and simunlock using HTC_Hermes_SIM_Unlock_v2a.zip
3) I choose the ROM RUU_Hermes_CINGULAR_WWE_2.06.502.3_6275_1.33.31.00_108_Ship.exe
4) Use NBExtract to decompress the above ROM to get files OS.nbf and Extrom.nbf file
5) Flash SPL 1.01MFG using mtty.exe. Is this necessary? Can't I flash OS.nbf with SPL1.04?
6) Flash OS.nbf file extracted using mtty.exe
7) Flash extrom.nbf file extracted using mtty.exe
8) Flash radio from file RUU_Hermes_TMD-TMA_Radiopatch_1.27.00.00_107_GER.exe by simply running it. Is this correct?
Am I missing something in the process?
Lastly, Is this the best COMBINATION of ROM, radio, and ext ROM? And how does RUU_Hermes_CINGULAR_WWE_2[1].06.502.3_6275_1.33.31.00_108_Ship compared to 2.05?
Thanks for any input.

You seem to have it figured out, but dont go on what i say here, wait for it to be verified by more than just me
My process (having already got superCID and unlocked a while ago) was to upgrade to radio 1.27.00.00 before anything else, then to flash SPL 1.01MFG using mtty, then flash the OS.nb file from the ROM i chose, then to flash ExtROM.nb (again from the ROM i chose). By using radio 1.27 you will have radio loader 107 which is recommended still.
Once some other people have looked over what you posted then you should go ahead (if they all give the "all clear" )
You combination of rom and radio is a good idea (the ROM and ExtROM is entirely up to you but the radio is the highest that doesnt have loader 108?)
It's even easier than that;
get my Custom RUU kit and you can skip the reflash;
take the 3.3AKU and extract the RUU_Signed.
extract the RUU signed with NBHExtract or my GUI tool (make sure it's all in the same directory) then you can create a NEW RUU with SPL 1.04, whatever radio you like (if you want a new one) and the 3.3 OS AKU.
remember: if you do it this way, you can have whatever components you want; ExtROM, OS, mix and match anything.
however... if you don't think you can manage doing this, tell me what you want and I'll happily assemble it for you
1. SuperCid and Unlock with POF VERSION 3
Website:
http://pof.eslack.org/hermes-unlocker/
Install Instructions:
Easy auto-install Instructions:
Unzip unlocker and run AUTO_Unlock_v3.bat
If you don't want to install automatically, or for some reason the process doesn't work for you, here are the manual instructions:
Transfer SSPL/SSPL-HERM.exe to your phone and run it
Tri-color screen will appear
Disable activesync (file -> connection settings -> uncheck "allow USB connections")
Connect your phone to your computer using the USB lead.
Run RUU/ROMUpgradeUt.exe
Follow the flashing process (Check the "I understand..." and "I completed..." boxes and update!)
Allow your phone to reboot.
Transfer HERM_Unlock_v3.exe program to your phone and run it
Click the Unlock Button, select unlock option. Select if you want SIM/CID unlock.
Click "Unlock!" and wait until process finishes.
When done, turn off your phone for 10 seconds and reboot after that.
2. Then Run this cooked ROM (Cooked w/Olipro software)
http://uploadingit.com/files/8194/RUU_CINGULAR_2.06.502.3_1.27.00.00_SPL1.04.zip
Rom: 2.06.502.3
Radion version: 1.27
SPL: 1.04
Ext Rom: 2.06.502.3
I think radio 1.33 or 1.34 is better then 1.27. I do not see a difference between 1.33 or 1.34 though.
You pretty much had the process but this will be easier for you.
just to point out; SuperCID and Unlock (unless using a different SIM) is unnecessary and *could* potentially invalidate your warranty.
SuperCID is pretty much redundant nowadays with the new SSPL; the only real advantage to having your device SuperCID is if there isn't a ROM for your CID with old version stuff to revert to.
Thank you for all the replies! I appreciate it.
@mrvanx and wpbear
The reason stated using unlocker v2a was because, from what I understand, if I use v3 it would put a patched 1.08 Radio BL (which I thought we want to avoid). Which means that I won't be able to "downgrade" to a lower version radio. Am I wrong?
@mrvanx
You said that I didn't need to downgrade to 1.04 BL because I could use 1.01MFG. I thought that I couldn't do that with 1.06 or higher. I had to downgrade to 1.04 first.
@wpbear
I assume in order to use your custom cooked ROM, I have to SuperCID right?
@Olipro
Thanks for the offer of cooking up a ROM. I think wpbear's ROM has everything I wanted. But again, if I wanted to use your ROM, I would have to SuperCID? Also, where can I get your GUI?

Thanks again!

Nevermind, I found your GUI. Thanks!
The only advantage of real SuperCID is being able to write to extrom once you've unlocked it.
You did a real nice v1.0 upgrade set of instructions btw They were perfect. In fact that's exactly what I did to upgrade my 8525.
However, the recent explosion of NBHtools that take advantage of Des' SSPL technique (nicely done Olipro btw )have opened up much better ways to accomplish this now.

no, you do *not* have to SuperCID at all with my RUU since it uses SSPL.
if you use the custom RUU (and you can tell, it has the XDA Dev logo on) then your device does not need to be SuperCID

Are you SuperCID with POf unlocker?
SuperCID/unlock yes. POF no.
Wiki and numberous posts indicate if the unit is SuperCID, it is SuperCID period however there is a v2 v2a and v3.
Is there more to SuperCID than just SuperCID?
Sometimes it sticks and sometimes it does not?
Can v3 be run over top of an existing SuperCID/unlocked unit without risk?
True you are either SuperCID or not, but we have seen people loose SuperCID for no apparent reason. Use mtty and check if you are still SuperCID.
Still superCID, still 1.06.

once you have superCID you can downgrade your bootloader by this http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Hermes_BootloaderMFG

Hermes SPL-1.11

The new AKU3.3 htc rom installs SPL-1.11 on your hermes.
This SPL has "Common Base Version : 1.51d" and some of the bootloader commands have changed, this is now more similar to Trinity bootloader.
The prompt is now shown as "Cmd>" instead of "USB>".
New commands:
getdevinfo - shows "Get CID Ok" and modelID encapsulated in HTCS + HTCE.
ResetDevice - resets the device
progress - shows a progress bar
wdata - now flashes NBH files (instead of wdatah)
password - now takes "BsaD5Se0A" as static password (info 3 and old method still works)
There's not much to worry as if you flash it on your device, it can be easily downgraded using SSPL.
It probably has other things we don't know yet, so if you find anything interesting about it, please post it here
Some new notes:
- The new RUU compatible with SPL-1.11 does a 'task 28' after flashing a NBH file, even if the NBH file doesn't contain OS. This hard-resets the device every time you use this RUU with 1.11 SPL.
- 'shmsg' command no longer exists.

Okay then the best SPL is the 1.09, with this we can upgrade the radio and still keep all our settings.
Thanx for the info!
No, the best is 1.11 with a hacked RUU that doesn't send the 'task 28' , so you can update the radio in 10 min instead of 20

No, this RUU is only compatible with SPL <=1.09.
I mean the RUU found in RUUInside.exe on the new AKU 3.3 rom from HTC.
Olipro integrated both old & new RUUs, making it compatible with all bootloader versions on Custom RUU V3, but it has yet to be modified to avoid the 'task 28' command after flashing a NBH. We still have to check if this will have any impact when flashing OS and not formating NAND after.
I'm planning to implement support for 1.11 on HERMflasher too.

We'll, if there's no negatives with this method then that's got to be the way forward. How come 1.11 can flash twice as quickly? Is it just optimisation?

The one pushing SSPL is OK if you start upgrade from OS with activesync enabled.
Tried Oli's 1.11 bootloader today and it is really fester. Radio flashes in less than 5 min! Also, you can flash any radio to radio-bootloader 0108 phones...
It is true that task 28 is executed after any flash, even if you only flash the splash screen. Needs to be fixed.

it is, I've patched the RUU and pof will test it... hopefully it works fine but it might cause issues if you are flashing a proper OS ROM, so I might have to implement a checker in my RUU in case 2 versions of RUU are needed.

Sorry, I thought that the boot screen could be changed by flashing a bootloader that did in fact contain a boot screen (I thought that some did and some didn't implement boot screens)..
Hello.
Is there ANYWAY to get this spl 1.11 WITHOUT having to do this flash? I did it and STILL can't get the actual rom I want flashed to work. It keeps saying something about it not being able to open the utility or something. And not only that, on top of that, the device won't read any of my sd nor sdhc micro cards. I even tried formatting my 8gb which had a tom tom navi program on it for install and lost all of that info for nothing. Please help.
You can't use an sdhc card to flash an os. You need a 2gb or less sd card. Once an os is on it may be able to read the sdhc card through the software but we couldn't get sdhc cards (or if we could they were too expensive) when the Hermes was released so they didn't bother allowing the bootloader to recognise this.... Unfortunately you wiped tomtom needlessly...
You can put back on though.
You also need Hard SPL ver7 to flash from the sd card.
Cheers...

What version SPL neede to do Radio Rom upgrade?

I just got a HERMES, with tha radio rom
1.16.00.00
32.53.7018.01H
and my spl is 1.10.Oli
I want to upgrade the radio. Some post in this forum say I should have a 1.04 spl for a safe operation.
Is that neccessary? Because I think since 1.10.Oli is based on 1.04. But I am not sure about this. Is there anyone upgrade radio using 1.10.Oli without downgrade? And how?
thanks!
Use the latest 1.40.Oli
Use always the latest version of HardSPL and upgrade the radio in NBH format using the latest CustomRUU.
I installed the 1.38.00.10 but the battery life drops!
It's still the 1.27 the best radio rom for hermes or the last 1.40 is better? TNX

Got it!
Thank you!
And also thanks to ghz.
Done!
Have upgraded the 1.40.Oli Hard SPL from 1.10.Oli, And also upgraded Radio Rom to 1.38.00.11.
But there is still some accident happened.
When I use the RUU, which is from the wiki, and I am sure I use the RUU ONLY.
But when I run it, and choose autodetect spl, I got a wrong warning.(see the pic attached)
I choose force sspl, and follow the steps, and failed. (feel lucky no bricking happened.)
Again I did not use autodetect, choose spl-1.11/1.13/1.30/1.35/1.40, it's done in less than 15 minites.
So, maybe the second time I was doing right?

are you sure your phone isn't asking for comfirmation when you use autodetect? this feature uses the RAPI of the phone and polls a memory area to check the version... if the phone is rejecting the request then you're likely to get this error.

My Downgrade plan. Looking for input from the pros

What I have now:
OS: Black 2.0 Cingular edition
Boot Loader: 1.01
Radio BL: 108
Radio: 1.38.10
what I want:
OS: WM 5 from the 1.34 cingular release
Boot Loader: Loader from the 1.34 cingular release
Radio BL: AFAIK you can't downgrade these so staying at 108
Radio: 1.16.00.00
How I plan to get there:
take the .nbh form the 1.34 cingular package and use RUU to flash the device.
Questions and concersion:
I'm looking for input on possible incompatabilities and hang-ups with varios BL versions and what not.
comments / feedback on my plan would be greatly appreciated and I will build a monument in your name if you help .
This has been covered before...
But, since you're well on your way to brick-ville, I'll buy your phone off you for, say, $100? It'll be worth less after you brick it...
Read up on the W*I*K*I and Oli's 1.40.Olipro bootloader before you do something dumb.
I did read it.
And thats the plan I came up with.
I was looking more for a confirmation.
The wiki has a ton of great info but its laid out reall crappy and not very cohesive. So I figured I'd post what I've came up with after reading it to see if I missed something. And from there maybe get more specific input on where the issues/dependencies are..... or maybe not.

The wiki has a ton of great info but its laid out reall crappy and not very cohesive. So I figured I'd post what I've came up with after reading it to see if I missed something. And from there maybe get more specific input on where the issues/dependencies are..... or maybe not.

From your plan it is obvious that, even IF you read the wiki, you didn't understand it. Re-read the THREADS about 1.40 SPL and also search for MRVANX and read his TUTORIALS...
---New plan
What I have now:
OS: Black 2.0 Cingular edition
Boot Loader: 1.01
Radio BL: 108
Radio: 1.38.10
what I want:
OS: WM 5 from the 1.34 cingular release
Boot Loader: Loader from the 1.34 cingular release
Radio BL: AFAIK you can't downgrade these so staying at 108
Radio: 1.16.00.00
How I plan to get there:
Flash to hardSPL-v6
Fash Radio to 1.16
flash OS i get out of the 1.134 package. (the os.nb file i believe it is named)
last flash the boot loader.
Questions and concersion:
I'm looking for input on possible incompatabilities and hang-ups with varios BL versions and what not.
comments / feedback on my plan would be greatly appreciated and I will build a monument in your name if you help .

I really appreciate the feedback. At least you're letting me know my plan wont work. Which will prevent me from trying it. But it would be kick ass if you could be more specific about what in the wiki i missed like :
-you can't flash the entire .nbh file cause it will try to replace your boot load and break it.
or
- Re-read the THREADS about 1.40 SPL because *something useful here*
Either way I'm still thankful cause I know my plan is a **** sandwich.
Very good.. You're getting there! It's nice to see someone read some directions..
You have it mostly right.. Flash the HardSPLv6 first. Then, grab the .nbh from the cingular rom and combine it with CustomRUU. Choose 'Autodetect' (we're looking for a hard-spl flash)..
Then, once that's done, you'll have the right radio, OS, splash, etc.. The only thing left would be to down-grade the bootloader, which I would advise against.. But, you can do it.. There is a seperate thread on HOW to do that, as it isn't just a one-step process.. Search and ye shall find.
Thank MAn!!! That kicks ass.
I need to send my phone back because the radio dies every 5 mintes.
So I want to get it as close to factory as possible.
So after I downgrade the BL i won't be doing anymore flashing to that phone.
Sometimes when I soft reset the phone is says "No GSM" even when sim is there. Soft reset it again and the radio is detected.
Very irritating.

Flash HardSPL-1.40
Create NBH containing your provider's 2xSplashScreen + ExtROM + OS & flash it
Flash 1.16 radio
Flash-HardSPL-1.10
Flash your original IPL & SPL versions.
F-ya! That last part about down grading the BL is the part I was having trouble pinning down.
One last question:
Can I use the cingular NBH or will it try to flash the RBL and crash because you can't down grade the RBL
the the new mrvanx page is dope. found the donwgrade guide.
Bricked using this method

Pof,
I did it this way but after flashing the radio rom I get no GSM and then I'm stuck in the Windows Mobile Screen.
I have looked in the Wiki but how can I actually unbrick?
My SPL is still 1.40 Oli. But I can't get activesync to work.
Should I flash the new radio via SD card or any other way (mtty?)
I would be very gratefull for any help,
Cheers,
HJ
P.S. Found a solution; http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Hermes_UpgradeProblems#problem5
I will try to do this trick.
Thanks
@hellejoep: Try flashing your latest working radio again in NBH format.

Disable activesync, and use CustomRUU.

Done that but then I get a Error 260.....
Any suggestions?
Or is there a way to bypass this? I have IPL 1.01 and SPL 1.40 Olipro.
I now got a Connection Error 264 but the bootloader gives usb and I can reach the hermes bij MTTY.exe.....
What is going wrong?
@hellejoep: close all programs including mtty before u run ruuwraper. Make sure you're using the latest version (v4.2) and activesync is not enabled.

@LegolasTheElf,
This was great example on how to get people to read the wiki. I like your approach and I will try to use it in the future.

Flashing WM6.5 ROMS ?

A lot of users are developing their own WM6.5 ROMs
My question is: to flash this WM version, do I have to do this:
1. download the attached files
2. REMOVE SIM and SD CARDS !!
3. connect usb cable
4. copy sspl-1.16-nike.exe to your device and run it (usb cable must be connected!)
5. after a few seconds "USB" appears on the display
6. unplug and replug the usb cable
(OPTIONAL, better to skip it! step 7. if you only want to test the sspl try flashing the attached splash screen by running ROMUpdateUtility.exe from flash-splash-niki)
8. you can now flash the hardspl-1.15mfg-nike.nbh by running ROMUpdateUtility.exe from flash-uspl-niki
9. after installing the hardspl you can flash any rom (rom cook project

Yes! First, you need sspl 1.16, then hspl 1.22!

I've noticed that a lot of users ask me to help because it didn't work for them, I always asked what they did and the most of them did everything the correct way but still it didn't work, They told me they used sspl 1.16 and then hardspl 1.22.
I always suggested to start all over and try it with 1.15 hardspl, and for ALL the people I suggest to do that, it worked.
Plse keep that in mind.

If it works for you it shouldn't be a problem, I myself did it also with 1.22 but for some people or phones the 1.15 work's better, still don't no why.
I just wanted to make a note in this thread for the people who don't succeed with 1.22
Greetz,
Hi.. I want to ask some..
If want to flash my nike (5500), from original WM 6.0 to 6.5, should I change my radio version? It's still confused me. I red in one thread that it need radio version 1.65 or higher. But in another thread, after hardSPL, I can go install ROM without change my radio. Which one to follow?
Thanks before for response..

Hi fastbus, it is better to change your radio version because you could lose some funtions such as camera and sound, there are two ways to flash a radio.
1. Flash an original rom, it comes with an radio, after that flash a cooked rom and you will keep the radio from the latest flashed original rom.
2. Just flash the radio after you flashed a cooked rom, flashing a radio is the same as flashing a rom, it is just a bit quicker then a rom because it is a lot smaller.
There is also a 1.71 radio, if you want to flash that one you must have a 1.58 radio, to upgrade the radio to 1.71, it just don't work with an 1.65 radio.
If you are still confused just send me an pm.
Greetz,
Thank you so much Rataplan.. I'll PM you soon, there is some Q again.
