Hi, I've just bought an XDA 2 off contract, SIM FREE. However even though it's not locked to a network when you put a non-O2 sim card in it asks for an unlock code.
Does anybody know the unlock code to make it SIM FREE, or is it specific to each device???
Which means it is locked to a network, namely O2, the only way to get the unlock at the moment is from O2.

I met the same problem. I sent email to O2 Data support and explain situation. They asked me copy of the receipt, model number and IMEI of the unit. And at least i've got code. So, you must proof that you bought unit off contract.
can you tell me the email address you sent it to?
thanks

The same as in User Guide [email protected]
O2 have unlocked my xda2,
I provided them with imei only and they were very helpful, if only they could start to make their xda's unlocked in future so that we dont all have this trouble.
o2 are impossible!!
i think i need a miracle to get a unlatching code any time soon!
any miracle workers out there contact me plzzz!!
thanking u in advance
Well, I'm also waiting for a miracle, after several hours on the phone with no results....and from France , it's a lot of money....for nothing !!!
i bought the XDA2 @ expansys (ok it s more expensive) but i get the unlock code included in the package on a paper sheet as well and it worked perfectly on French and belgian networks
Hi ! Cyberbob, after an ultimate call to O2 , i'll probably do like you and sell my xda2 locked as a simple pda ....
But don't believe it's more expensive on Expansys (LOL !) , I have paid 1030 euros to the guy who bought the xda2 for me in Uk , plus around 8 hours of phone calls to UK from france....so I think , Expansys price is not so bad , and your xda2 is sim free !
the price for exclusivity of having the first XDA2 in France
i guess it will be to bad to sell it as a simple PDA i hope you ll find a better solution

Does anyone know how to unlocked Samsung Memoir so it can be used with AT&T?
hello all
i have xda2 model i tried to unlock it with many tools but i can't unlocked sucsessfully but when i am gonna insert sim or i am going to give unlock code it shows error ( 109 ) wrong tried wait i dont understand how to hardresset this phone also need soulution thanks for all xda team in advance
or is that pretty much the only way (sim unlock that is )
i can't garantee anything, but give cingular a call.
tell them you have a blue (AT&T) SIM card and the phone is rejecting it.
the 3125s were programmed to be locked from AT&T, but when they merged back into AT&T, the phones needed to be unlocked for new subscribers (AT&T) using existing (Cingular) phones.
they might try to call your bluff, but maybe not... it's free, and worth a shot.
I am a Cingular customer (ATT) and I recently called them and told them I was traveling abroad and they gave me the code...no problem.
$20??? Where at?
Where can I get my Cingular 3125 unlocked for $20? If not $20 then what is the cheapest place?

Agreed, but most posters asking for "unlock" want SIM unlock, and there's no free one of those right now.

It wouldn't do you any good - the unlock codes are IMEI (handset) specific.
I recently got my hands on a 3125 (im a previous Smartflip owner) on ebay, but came locked and with a busted outer lcd display, then tried to log on the webpage and then asked me for a phone line number. Since is purshased from ebay, i dont have one. How can i request warranty or unlocking service from them without a phone line?

I do not think Cingular will give you the unlock code w/o having service with them. You'd need a buddy w/Cingular or to do an outside SIM unlock....

They wouldn't give me the code until mine was activated for 3 months with their service - i think that's their standard policy!

You need to but an unlock code. Put a different network sim in the phone, it will ask for the code, put it in, done!

You need to BUY an unlock code sorry. ... and No,... No free methods that I know of.
There are lots of websites around, I have never used one though.
I use a £3 turbo sim, works brilliantly, lets me use my O2-UK SIM in my Orange network locked handset with no problems.

No problems.
1st thing I would do is get AmonRa's custom recovery installed. Then you will be able to change ROMs when ever you want.
Follow BTDAG's guide in my signature, read the whole thing through including the FAQ at the bottom,... then start playing!!!!

Yeah its locked to Orange. A turbosim is something that you stick to your own simcard, it then tricks the phone into thinking its using the network it was intended for. I got mine from good 'ol ebay.
Search for turbo sim or rebel sim
To Unlock it from Network Lock, you can use the Unlock code.............To get the Unlock code you can reach the site Onlinegsmunlock.com and get the code and Unlock it...Then You can use with any GSM Network Sim card....
My phone was locked to t-mobile, and i needed it unlocked...
Went to a local service, i payed 12 euros for unlocking (not with codes) ...
I not sure how those guys unlocked it, but i know they used a jtag and maybe used a hboot that obviously skips the "locking" security Don't know for sure (they didn't disassembled the phone for soldering pins and stuff the screws are still with the "void" sticker)
You can get an unlock code for a reasonable price at this site:
simunlocks . com
HTC uses database with codes, so there is no miss and hit.
Thanks
Hi all, I am really new to this forum.
First of all I would like to apologize if this is a double post.
Can some one please help me unlock the X10 from at&t.
I would always unlock att phones by calling their costumer service but they were not able to generate or give me the key to my X10 for some reason. I wonder if there is another way to unlock the phone so i can use sim frm other carriers.
I'm interested as well =)
Is there a free way to unlock phone from AT&T ?
Firstly, the search function at the top works wonders guys, this is one of the most widely posted issues.
There are two solutions I see frequently:
website htccode.com
user lancez on this forum
as i mentioned earlier im a noob in this forum. I could not find anything with the search function either. Could you please elaborate on the user lancer you mentioned.

Don't take No for an answer from AT&T. By law, at least in the USA, AT&T has to give you the unlock code 90 days into your contract. Just gotta ask for it.... so they say anyway. Try taking it in to the store. The other ways, like Lance, cost $30+. AT&T should be FREE!

With a custom ROM you have UNBRANDED the phone but not unlocked it. Unlocking it means that you can put any SIM card into it so that if you travel to the EU or other GSM areas you can get a local SIM card much cheaper than an international plan for ATT.
It also doesn't mean that suddenly you have new wireless frequencies either, so if you put in a T-Mobile sim card you won't get their 3G/H or any EU 3G/H.
Some people have reported that your phone will show ROAM when on ATT after unlocking but this shouldn't be a problem as you are a ATT contract holder.
Don't worry i will help you to Unlock Your Sony Ericsson Phones from Network Lock,You can use the Unlock Code to unlock it from Network lock,But you can get the code from Online site...You can get the Unlock code from the site www.simpleunlocking.com and Unlock it......They get the code from Network Data base and provide to you.
for codes you can contact your service provider or can get it from online providers
How / Where / Who can Unlock the SGII from networks like O2 etc in UK ?
O2 will unlock after 12 months otherwise you have to wait until unlocking is worked out after the phone has been launched .

I work for o2 and as long as it is a contract phone and not pay as you go, you can unlock it anytime by either completing the online form (google o2 'unlockmyiphone') or by calling customer services and requesting them to fill out the form for you. It can take up to 14days for you to receive the code.
Failing that, there are numerous IMEI unlocking websites online who will send the code within 24hours for a small fee.
Regards.

I am presuming that it will not need unlocking to use a Giffgaff network sim as its part of O2 .
Three O2 shops today no stock and no idea if they will receive stock for launch 1st may .

You could use a Rebel Simcard. It's not the best solution but it definately does the job. I used one on my Dell Streak when they were exclusive to O2.
I take it you're getting it as an upgrade direct from O2?
If not open a contract with O2 through Phones4U and you'll get an unlocked device

It is £399 with O2 but will probably be locked
I also asked a popular online unlocking firm what the chances are of unlocking this handset and this was their reply:
This should be no problem at all. That's because there's one main database for all European Samsung Android handsets. We have unlocked the Samsung Galaxy S from all 6 main UK networks.

Because at this stage, nobody is really sure that the 'unlock £15' part of the process will indeed work You could end up with a phone that will not currently work on the sim you may have ( I do understand you have no contract, so if you are happy with O2 payg, fill yer boots).

My Vodafone HD2 came unlocked - that wasn't the problem. The killer was that because it was a Vodafone phone, it could only take updates from Vodafone, and their updates came months after the unbranded ones. Once the Devs got HSPL all sorted out then it wasn't so much of a problem, but that didn't happen overnight.
So be aware - it's not just the network locking that's an issue when you buy a phone from a network.

Thanks for the heads up. I think O2 don't mess around with their handsets. Only Orange, T-Mobile & Vodafone.

This was the same with the first batch of O2 HD2's only accepting O2 specific updates which they changed after the second batch went out as were getting too many complaints. Hopefully they've learned from this and will allow standard manufacturer updates from the start. This wasn't due to particular messing around it was due to the serial numbers being registered with the manufacturer as not being generic therefore updates were refused by them. I doubt Samsung are quite as good as HTC with the regular updates but always good to know you can update when it's available.

Here's a response I received from a query I made of an eBay seller in relation to unlocking the SGS2...
"This is GUARANTEE TO WORK because this code is directly from Samsung and it is permanent. After you unlocked it, you can do software update or anything you like and it will still be unlocked."
Sounds promising...
It does but would like to know for sure before buying.

Successful unlock?
Did anyone hear about any successful SGS2 unlock?
I also read in some places that when you buy PNG from O2 it is SIM free. This was the case when I bought an iPhone 4 when it came out. It was SIM free out of the box.
just either get CPW to price match which they are supposedly doing at £399, or waith two weeks as they are goint to that price soon.
This is very stupid from me but as with the SGS, would it be possible to retrieve the bml3.bak file and unlock?
I'm just assuming samsung is using the same method of hiding the Network Control Key.. maybe they're lazy..
