AT&T (Cingular) ROM Officially released! - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam Software Upgradin

I noticed tonight HTC changed the carrier name to AT&T, so I figured hmmm... And there it is, the official release!
HTC's download page
It appears to be the same as previously posted from the Device Info screenshot, but the file name is slightly different. File size is a little smaller too.

looks like the 1.40.30 radio is now official...

why would people want to get that when they can get the ones on here?

New Rom ?????
Isn't this the same thing Shogun posted 3 weeks ago ?

I might have gotten excited a month ago.
But now, I couldn't care less.
(About the release that is, not this thread )

Have they fixed the bugs?
I certainly hope that they've fixed the bugs that were present in the 2.15 that shogun posted here earlier. I flashed that one on my phone, and it was very slow, and very buggy (taps taking seconds to register, applications not opening). And that damn startup sound was extremely annoying. The smaller file size suggests to me that maybe the ROM that shogun posted was a debug ROM, and this is the release one. (Just a guess, anyway.)
As for why people might want it, well, I'd be interested in it if it's relatively bug-free. I've tried the WM6 ROMs, and ended up flashing back to the Cingular 1.34 ROM (and applying CABs to customize it). The Cingular ROM has a look that I like (I like blue), and it's official, which means that even if they won't help you out, they at least won't look at you funny for running it.
(Time to update my sig, as I'm running Cingy 1.34 with SPL-2.10-Oli and radio 1.41.)
-- Joe

Okay, is it WM6 or WM5?
One would think that HTC would be screaming this from the tops of rooftops, but I see no such declaration...
Is this new ROM Windows Mobile 6 or is it Windows Mobile 5? I suspect 5, but I can hope.
I'm running Black 2.5 and couldn't be happier. See no sign of the strange bluetooth problems others have been reporting. Stereo Bluetooth is not perfect, but it isn't bad (the brain is a very wonderful thing at getting used to substandard sound, like when I used to listen to cassettes for a while and then listen to CD's ... I thought the cassettes sounded fine until I spun up that disk).
It would be nice to get on the straight and narrow again, just in case there is a real Cingular problem that they need to troubleshoot.
I would be a pain to downgrade the phone just to take it to them, then have to upgrade again later.

They pulled it from HTC, I only see the old ROM on HTC America.

Thanks for the find. I just installed this and looks good. Does anyone know if I need to install the DST patch again or does in come with this rom?
Thanks.

It's there, but the link points to a different file name.
Last night I downloaded 2.15.502.1 but the link today says 2.15.502.3. Maybe they're changing it?
Ok, now the link works. Downloading 2.15.502.3, file size is even smaller than the 502.1 from last night.

is this the same extended rom as the one posted on this forum by shogunmark?

After downloading it looks to be the exact same file Shogunmark posted. I was wrong about the file size being different.

Where did you find that link? I have refreshed the page several times and it still points to the 502.1 file. I even tried to just change the 1 to a 3. Could you paste the link or something?
Thanks.

Here it is, but it appears to be identical to the ROM posted by Shogunmark.

thats really weird.. the official upgrade link is for .3, however after you download the rom it shows as .1.. i havent actually flashed it yet..

It's .3 here, even on another machine.

Just give it a few minutes... they are in process of switching from .1 to .3 (it seems) as of about 7:30 am PST.

Mine that I downloaded is .1 also. This is weird for sure.

nah.. im flashing .1 i wanna see how it is compared to .3 ... i will run it for a day or 2 then flash back if it isnt any good... .3 is definitely a stable rom, very few crashes, but its sooooooooooo F'ing slow.. lets see what .1 holds...

Best ROM for Titan

Any recommendations of which cooked ROM would be good for a Sprint Mogul aka Titan? I want to flash one that still has the live search bar on the today screen, I use it constantly and would like to keep it.
I have been testing multiple ROM's over the past few weeks and here's what my experience/opinion is. You can load any ROM and then download Windows Live since it's not included in cooked ROM's.
The 2.17 stock ROM loads up with approx 25mb free if you bypass the customizations. I don't run this one, it comes with too much crap I don't need.
DCD's clean ROM 1.5.7 loads up with approx 26mb free with the 1.40 radio. Very stable, and runs great.
DCD's alpha 2.17 based ROM loads with approx 26mb free with the 1.47 radio. Didn't seem as quick as the 1.5.7 and I experienced issues receiving calls with this ROM (had to press the answer button twice and sometimes three times). I have not run this ROM with the 1.40 radio but DCD thinks it may fix the issue I had with receiving calls. I had to soft reset with this ROM alot more than the 1.5.7. This ROM also changes the initial HTC logo that you see on a soft reset with the words "dcd's clean rom" below it. A minor issue, but I didn't like having that there.
Custel's 1.1 4MB pagepool loads with approx 28mb free on the 1.40 radio. This ROM is the quickest and most stable ROM I have ran. My only gripe, albeit a minor one, is that the data connection is named Alltel Wireless and resets itself to Alltel Wireless on a soft reset even if you change it. I use Sprint so it kind of bugs me, though it does not affect your data connection and you do not roam to another network.
I recommend using the 1.40 radio in lieu of the 1.47 radio with any ROM. I get a much better and more consistent signal with it.

Im going to try out Custels' ROM, so all I have to do is downlaod windows live and istall it on my phone? I really just want the search bar in the today screen, because then I edit the key to search google instead of live.
Yup, that's what I've done in the past. Trying to find a link for you...

Its not that hard, only gets complicated when adding stuff not already included in the buildOS packages. DCD put together a nice little list of commonly used options, you click what you want, hit go, run a script which creates your .nbh, and flash it!
Actually I was able to make one and then test it but just ended up removing hardspl and putting the official Sprint Rom back on until I could figure out how to make something better. The only questions I have now is how add OEMS to the kitchen and will OEMS made for Wizard Windows Mobile 6 ROMs work in this kitchen for the Titan?

wm6 oems are wm6 oems. gsm stuff might have gsm stuff. it will (probably) build, and then you can fix/tweak it from there. if it fails due to conflicts, you need to identify the files in question, and decide which of the two needs to go. an oem is just a cab laid out. if the cab would install on wizard or titan, its oem probably would.

Great to know. I will start building a new ROM in the morning. It's 12:27am right now and I have to get some sleep. I've been up for over 26 hours thanks to working 2 jobs. I'm off tomorrow though thanks to a huge ice storm blanketing the area I live in. Sucks to drive in but hell I needed the time off...
I honestly believe Imcokeman's Clean alltelwm5 rom is the best. It boots with 28-29mb and is way stable. I haven't had one crash for 2 weeks. Thats saying a lot (for the titan lol).
I love DCD's 1.6.8 Rom over the stock rom. i have verizon.
it is very clean and i love the memory and speed on it. it feels faster than the stock as well and i do not know why i waited so long. doing the upgrade was a bit scary at first.
Some Points:
*All the skins look smoking hot compared to the default skins, The dialer is highly functional now, almost like the spb mobile shell dialer but without the bloat or memory waste.
*i didnt even have to do a *228 to program the phone after the rom update, everything just worked, email sync, text messages, get and make calls and internet.
*27.76 megs ram free after soft reset, i bet i would have more if i used a memory releasing program like oxios hibernate. 1.71.36 megs of storage free. that was more free than i had total before for internal storage.
*it has lots of tweaks pre-applied. like the text message sent confirmation turned off. the audio volume increase tweak, the 5 meg page pool.
*very polished feel, more so than the stock rom
*faster than the stock rom. i would say 50% faster? hard to gauge, but i notice it is speedier.
I have not tried custel's rom or any other rom's, installed this one and was very happy with it.
I've recently downloaded DCD kitchen and love it. I've also starting using OEMizer and making my own ROM's. It's a lot of fun and addicting. DCD Rom's seem to be the best for me. I like the clean approach and it gives me the option to install what I want and customize my phone. The other ROMs include to much stuff I don't find useful.

Has anyone extracted the gps stuffs?

Lets face it. The new radio sucks horribly. The leaked Rom is very bad as well. Countless problems for almost everyone. Has anyone extracted the gps drivers? I would kill to go back to the 2.17 sprint rom with the gps added on.
Won't work you need the new radio, and rom.
Mine is working without any problems, and the radio is great.

well, the new radio is a BETA after all. and i havent had any problems with it. The new radio is what enables the GPS in the phone, and the 3.16 based roms have the drivers that are needed for gps. so these go hand in hand. you need em both for gps.

No problems for me, works great and couldn't be happier with everyones work on getting the GPS and Rev A to work. I appreciate all the work that people are putting in to get all this going. I guess you'll just have to wait until your carrier releases their updated ROM with GPS enabled, maybe that will be less problematic for you.
I am betting when this is released there will be a newer radio, this is a beta and the radio is at least a couple of months old, I am sure they have done some tweaking since then, at least if they are seeing the same issues one would hope they have tweaked a bit more here and there.
Same goes for the rom piece of it it is an old beta as well they are both 2 months old, so whatever Sprint and/or HTC has been doing for the past 2 months is unknown.
You Sprint folks should all be happy to me it seems Sprint is the only provider that gives half a rats ass. On Telus the last rom came out back in the beginning of July and none of the other Canadian providers that carry this phone have provided any updates whatsoever.
As Fallingup said this is a beta and the issues we are seeing from the radio patch exhibit normal BETA behavior...
Hell even HTC is convinced the Radio isn't ready for Primetime and keep delaying the release! That says to me they have hit some roadblocks they are having trouble dealing with.
It would not surprise me at all if HTC consciously decided to leak this radio so that the community could take a crack at solving those issues and give them some ideas on how to fix the patch.
I am hoping someone in the community is looking at this beta version of radio and looking for ways to improve that....
Cause I'm betting the second someone can tweak that radio to work well, HTC will take that file and use it as a roadmap for an official release!

the actual results are somewhere in between...the ones with zero issues either don't use data connect extensively or haven't really run everything through it's paces. How could they the ROM is only a day old! LOL
Others just have issues with the 6.1 OS and still others have issues just flashing. The latter is simply user error and that will always be there no way around that. You have to know those issues will show up even if the perfectly stable ROM gets released.
The Radio is IMO definitly not ready for prime time. between the BT issues, Data Connect and the problem of having to prime the GPS before a navigation software like TomTom can use it there will have to be another update to the radio ROM before we can be sure we gain GPS capability without losing anything else...
Right now Radio appears to be a bit of a tradeoff as opposed to a simple feature addition.
Once an official (as opposed to leaked) radio comes out I think all the REAL problems people are having will go away.

As far as I know nobody here on XDA Dev has actually tweaked a Radio. People put together firmware files from other stuff, and bundle them all together, but to actually fix and recompile a radio file goes much deeper than anyone here handles.
I have had only one problem running dcd 2.10 and 2.20. I have run critically low on memory once. This has never happened before.
But as for the radio and OS, I think my call quality is noticably better than with the stock rom or any of dcd's 1.x rom/radio setups that I have tested.
Oh, just FYI, I'm in Utah. I wonder if the radio issues have to do with a difference in radio hardware on the towers in New Jersey.
After reading for several days and hearing the good the bad and the ugly I opted for the straight leaked rom. No unlocking and all that.
Well so far so good. GPS works, RevA not a real difference so far
Fairly stable. Happy with my beta software until the official release

Yup, me too.
As a matter of fact, I'm not going to go to DCD's 2.2.1 until this current flash (on my phone) bombs. 2.2.0 is working great for me.
For those who claim to have no problems...
Try downloading a file larger than 1 MB in PIE or Opera...
The issue has NOTHING to do with DCD's work...
Definitly the Radio...
There only problems I have seen with the 2.2X Roms DCD has put out is some issues with installing programs on the storage card...
But if I know DCD that will be fixed rather quickly.

Nevermind....Save_as worked
I flashed it last night. Seems to be running fine. I'm not sure if this is the final copy. But I guess we'll find out when it gets released. I do like it though.
What is the os version and build?
OS 5.2.19208 (build 19208.1.0.1)
Well flashed it redid the agps for alltel and put on manilla 2d seems to be working pretty smooth thus far
Quick look on this one. 25MB free RAM after the flash. As stated GPS works out of the box. Took a good minute to sync up to the sats but it worked fine with Google Maps. Feels pretty fluid moving through the OS. Other than that pretty standard 6.1 look and feel if you're used to a custom rom.

I believe 3.52.671.9 means this is Alltel's 10th revision of a 3.52 base. The release is older, but the revision is newer. A couple of the drivers seem preferable to 3.56/3.57.

Alltel Touch Pro 2.01.671.1 ROM update

It's on HTC's website, dated July 7th. I haven't seen any other threads on it, and I wanted to see if anyone else has tried it. I've updated to it myself, and it seems to be an overall improvement over the version I had. There's really nothing much in the notes, though it seems they tweaked quite a bit. Most notably, it's done wonders for my battery life. I used to always come home with a phone that was nearly dead. Now I get home with 60-70% still left on the battery. It could be my imagination, but the phone seems a bit more responsive now as well. If the battery life is anything to go by, it could just be from general optimization of the ROM. Other points of interest... the activesync app is no longer self-launching, and Opera Mobile appears to have had an update as well.
-edit-
Here's the link: http://www.htc.com/us/supportdownloadlist.aspx?p_id=200&act=sd&cat=all
im in the process of doing it know, ill let ya know what i think in a bit
I tried it when it 1st came out, its definitely better than the shipped rom, but its still got all of the bloatware and other b.s. that interferes with performance. IMO, you're still better off with a cooked rom.
ya i honestly cant tell a different between stock rom and this update
Oh yeah, I'm sure a cooked rom is faster. Just thought I'd put the PSA out there. It does seem to address a few issues for my launch version of the ROM.
one of these day ill get around to putting a custom rom on my phone.
thiers just to many and i cant figure out which one i want
stock
if i have already unlocked my phone and running a custom rom and want to flash to this stock rom do i need to do anything different?
No, just flash as you normally do. Every couple of flashes I go back to the stock rom anyway. Probably just the "placebo" effect, but I've convinced myself it helps.
Do it for the Radio

Notation to everyone here this ROM includes an updated radio. 1.12.20F. So that it's self should be worth it. I run NFS rom but I am going to update to this so I can grab the updated radio. I will then jump to his. My radio is currently 1.03.16F. It also has the later PRL and PRI.
I see the in the Radio Thread in this forum that they have the alltel readio without the whole ROM. So if you want go that route. I have just found that doing a stock flash every once in awhile keeps my custom flashing less problematic.
im still having problems as far as radio signal.........and the only reason i don't just upgraded the radio is their is no alltel dump yet
I also get great battery life after the update.

typing this didn't do anything...all i got was call cant be completed as dialed
One very nice discovery I made today (because of how little I actually talk on my TP) is that they've changed the call answer screen a bit. Seems they took a page from Apple's book and changed the answer and ignore buttons into a slider. You slide it all the way left to answer, and right to ignore. Should fix the accidental answer problem I know a lot of people (including myself) have had.
Will this work on Verizon TP? I know i will have to apply keyboard patch but would it work?
Radio should work no problem, especially since alltel and verizon are 1 now.
I dispise Verizon ROM. No YouTube, No Internet Sharing etc... Got it as a insurance replacement when my Alltel TP broke. They said they don't have Alltel TPs anymore.
Please give me the good news... PLEEEAAASE
PS: I already have GPS unlocked using MR1 release from Verizon.

I wouldn't attempt it if I were you. Have you considered trying a custom rom? If you've never done it I could help you through the process. Stock roms SUCK!
Can i ask you if it works in a touch pro un-locked of the vodafone Italy company?
I have an alltel touch pro but my area switched to verizon now, im assuming this won't be a problem because i didn't need to do any update when they switched so im guessing the radio won't be an issue? Really want to do this if it increases battery.
Also will this remove any settings or themes that kind of stuff?
edit nevermind i see it removes everything.
if i take my memory card out before i update can will all the programs that are one it reinstall? and when i put all my backed up data back on the device do the programs reinstall or do i have to do something to reinstall them?

Which Radio to use

Hey guys,
in all recent roms Froyd Villain, Elelinux´s roms I experience that my data connection breaks down after some hours (sometimes days) and I have to restart my hero to get it going again. Additionaly my WiFi has similar problems too, just that it sometimes breaks down after some minutes so I looked for Radio updates.
All the radio threads I could find are older and it does not seem that there are recent radio updates out, so I wanted to ask which one do you guys use or where can I find recent ones?
I am European, from Luxembourg next to Germany so I guess the European radios should work
Thanks in advance
Have had this myself too. My theory is that its not radio related but maybe CPU settings. Radio flashing feels like russian roulette cos have done it myself a few times but not really sure if there was any difference. Heard that villain had a good list of radios, but don't be suprised if you already have the latest or that any make much difference : )

Yeah I checked it out but the post was around a year old so I don´t know how accurate it still is. For the rest I agree, radio updates are kind of russian roulette but atm its the only thing that I suspect could work (even though my issue is not a worst case scenario but I d still prefer it to work properly).
