Dont think it will plug into the MICRO SD Slot of the Hermes

well....does your hermes have an sd slot? nice find but not for the hermes....at least that model.

they do even have a version called sdg-811
look here : http://www.spectec.com.tw/sdg810.htm

hehe, look at that carefully. it is still only for SD and miniSD, not for microSD. You can put only microSD card inside adapter to have your external memory still inside - for navigation program, but final product is still only miniSD. correct me, if I am wrong...

Looking at the ad, it implies the package includes a micro-sd conversion card.

nope it would look stupid and will probably break off. Think about it. Big SD to small MICRO SD....hmmmmm

I think that sinmae is correct - the product requires a SD or miniSD slot, but to compensate for the loss of the (mini)SD slot, it provides a microSD slot to put a microSD memory card into.
Such a shame, since I just sent my Garnin GPS 20SM back to Garmin yesterday for a RMA - it's not charging the phone properly. It seems silly to have to soft-reset my 8525 to have to get it to charge, when a USB cable connected to my PC works flawlessly every time. Oh well, here's hoping it was just a defective unit. *crosses my fingers*
-- Joe

@JoeVulture: most USB chargers wont work with the TyTn's due to the way HTC set up the mini-USB plug (there's loads of threads on it).

What a heap of crap! I will stick to my Rikaline bluetooth.

Just when I was gonna give up on waiting for a kaiser.

Micro SD Wifi - where to buy?

Hi,
I would like to ask, if somebody does know, if Micro SD WIFI exists and where to buy it. Is Micro SD same as Micro SDIO? I am really confused.

Spectec should be coming out with MicroSD WiFi shortly. You can preorder it on the Expansys website.
As for MicroSD and MicroSDIO, read here.

But you could have a long wait.
The Spectec card has been on pre-order for a long time at expansys, and remember that it'll take the place of any memory card that you may have installed. And they're going to be expensive if/when they do appear.
It would be great if they have a wifi card with atleast 2gig also in it
Hoping it will not cost too much!
i dont why they dont just produce one that goes in the usb port then sits all along side of device so as not to stick out, and even replace the battery cover with it for extra strength! or has this been done?

Don't think the Dual (or any/many windows mobile devices) can act as a USB host though. It'd be a huge power draw though, maybe half your battery life?
It cant act as a usb host unfortunately. Its a long shot but i would personally hold off for a couple of months and see how this WIFI project unfolds before investing in something as expensive as these microsd wifi cards will be.
To answer an earlier comment about it being good if they started making micro sd wifi cards with built in memory, its been done before with normal sd cards, only trouble is that HTC devices dont like them!!
Spectec Mini SD WiFi Card, SDW-822
Hello all,
It is possible to buy it,
check this website
http://www.expansys.nl/p.aspx?i=125665
or
http://www.google.nl/search?hl=nl&q=Spectec+Mini+SD+WiFi+Card,+SDW-822&btnG=Zoeken&meta=lr=lang_nl
If you buy and test let me know please
do you know the different about MINI SD and MICRO SD???
Mini SD are bigger than Micro SD, so you can't use Mini SD on the dual.
3s this for real?
what exactly do these micro sd cards do? 3m just curious..

With my Touch HD when i connect the phone via cable i can access the SD card like another drive. It doesnt seem to be possible with the Hero. Is it possible? Am i missing something? If its not its damn annoying to say the least!!

actually, my hero came with CD. Manual was also there. BTW I used to have problems mounting sd card... checking box near USB debugging in menu>settings>applications>development solved my problems.

[Q] Incredibly slow copying to SDCard?

Folks,
I just got my SGS2 the other day and picked up a 32G Class 10 SDCard with it. One thing I've noticed is that copying anything over to the phone is incredibly slow over USB ... and worse on the SDCard.
Syncing a lot of music would just fail as some point during the process. Just copying using windows was going to take over two and a half hours to copy 18G of music! At least by popping it out of hte phone and plugging it directly into my USB hub it was going to take an hour (still slow ... but what the hell).
Anyone else noticed this?
Here we go again Slow copy to 32GB card .
Usual
One its fake many are .
two format the card again in windows to FAT 32
three use the manufactures web site to check card and or download test app .
jje
I'd hope it's not a fake. I bought it over the counter along with hte phone.
It is already formatted to FAT32
I will try the later though.
Thanks/
Your symptoms sounds like a fake sdcard. Same thing happened to me with my 32gb generic/ Kingston ebay card. Any good/real card wouldn't fail on you when transferring data.
I'm running a 32gb sandisk class 4 card.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA App
Run crystal disk speed benchmark on it, see what speeds you get. Sounds like a fake.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA App
I can tell you from experience that if you bought the card on DealExtreme or ebay you could have a fake on your hands.
Don't understand. People should go to a shop. Proper electrical shop to buy sd cards especially micro-sd hc. It really is worth it. Even thiugh it might be a few quid expensive.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA Premium App
Proper electrical shop often means rip off prices .
Plenty of on-line top class vendors of micro usb cards .
jje
Plenty of on-line top class vendors that rip you off with fake cards too.
How slow is your slow?
In Ubuntu OS environment I do copy on my microSD card (PNY 16GB class 10) over USB with about 21-22MB/s. And then a strange thing happens - after coping the first 500-550 MB the write speed drops to 5MB/s for the rest of file.
If I run "J Disk Benchmark" app (50MB filesize, 4kb buffer size) I get consistent ~20MB write and read.
Using "SD Tools" app I get 14MB/s write and about 21MB/s read.
It seems the performance strongly depends of the file size, buffer size and the way test is performed (sequential or random access to card).
So, try those apps inside your SGS II and share the results!
I've had some SD card funkiness and I know it's not the card because I've used it in two other phones and it's less than a year old. For some reason, over time, the phone starts to slow down when it's media scanning and will occasionally stutter pulling large files off the card. I unmount the card and then restart the phone and it's fine again. Just rebooting alone didn't seem to help. I have no idea why.

Thanks julandroid. I'm getting good results from within the phone (using the app you recommended). It's a class 10 card and I'm getting 18 write and 31 read. The problem appears to only be over USB.
Any useful suggestions from people would be nice (as opposed to critiques and assumptions over how I purchased that card).

Ta. I'll give that a go before I try and copy my music again (I've since discovered I need to go on a massive tag cleanup on my collection since dropping iTunes/iPhone. I found it a bit of a mess. )
J disk benchmark app tests internal memory, unless its been updated recently.

Which Brand SD card you have purchased.
Either thru phone to usb or actual microsd straight into the computer you need to run a memtest that transfer big files.
From your description its a faulty card. Some name brand cards can end up faulty on store shelves. Was it a mom and pop store? How much did you pay? You haven't mentioned a brand yet.
The faulty card I had would lose data, fail and drop speed while transferring.
All in all you need to run some test and check for lots of bad sectors. Use anyother format tool besides windows. Try to fill all 30gb and check for corrupted data. Any problems and I would return it.

Not so much for the card but would recommend MediaMonkey to help sort out your music tagging.
Also, this might be patronising but are you connecting as a USB drive? I.e. enable USB debugging then pulling down the notification menu to activate mass storage. I find this faster than using the KIES drivers.

The lexar class 10 32GB microSD card has very poor random write speeds. So unless you are copying a single large file onto a totally empty card, e speeds will be well below e rated 10MB minimum write speed. Use Crystaldiskmark and do a Random read/write test with QD=1 for a 10 MB file and you will see the poor results. Even the Sandisk Class2 32GB card is quicker at random writes.

External sd card

Since the dna does not have an sd card slot, would I be able to get a adapter for micro usb to usb and then use a flash drive for more space?

Yes, USB hosting is supposed to work on this device.
So, as I posted in a different thread, why not a case that plugs in the the usb and has either flash memory or an sd slot? The make those extra case batteries, why not an extra storage case?

You have to be rooted and have a app from chainfire call root stickmount.
Update: I was told "Sense 4+ has the option for it!", so I'll have to look under settings. So it looks like you don't need root and you can turn on USB host.
Internal micro SD hardware hack?
I posted this question in another thread, but posting as reply here too. Since the J Butterfly has a micro SD slot, I'm guessing the DNA has the internal connections for a slot. Can anyone verify this? Might someone be able to develop a hardware hack to add in an internal micro SD card?

Someone posted pics of the DNA taken apart, and there is no spot for a SD Card.
---------- Post added at 01:48 AM ---------- Previous post was at 01:46 AM ----------
On another note... anyone have the DNA unlocked/rooted and an OTG cable? If so, can you plug a USB Thumb Drive into the phone, boot to recovery and see if recovery recognizes the drive? I only ask as it could serve as a SD Card to flash ROMs/Zip Mods and store Nand backups if it does... and if it doesn't, we should ask the TWRP guys to see if it is possible.
Good news and bad news...
So on the plus side, I can confirm that USB hosting works!!! I made a horrible makeshift OTG cable and it works!!
Its really nice, I tried a 4 port hub with keyboard mouse and flash drive. I love it. Now all I gotta do is put linux on here
However, space is so limited on this thing, didn't think I was gonna regret not having an sd card slot!! Bummer...
But WorldOfJohnyboy gave me hope. His idea is great. Unfortunately I was disappointed when I found that neither CWM nor TWRP picked up the drive.
I was hopeful that it was gonna work since it works perfectly on android with out any thrid party apps, but I didn't even see flashing from the drive while booting recovery.
Oh well, hopefully its something that can be worked on.
I bought a cable for $2 on ebay, plugged it into the micro usb port on the phone, stuck a microsd card reader on the other end and I can read and write to my old SD card. No problems at all here.
If you had a ton of extra storage that you wanted to access, you could get one of those hard drives that creates its own wireless network. They have mini flash-drive sized ones, but they're pretty expensive and arguably unnecessary.
Havoc, I have a feeling the reason why the recoveries didn't recognize it is due to the programming end, I.e. its not setup for it. I'm sure someone could get them to work with it though, someone smarter than me haha.

SD Card Support

Greeting all. Has anyone been successful using a SD card reader with the Surface Duo? I posted this question on the Microsoft community and received the following reply:
"A USB-C accessory that indicates to Surface Duo that it needs more then 600mA of power or draws more than 600mA of power will not be enumerated by Surface Duo. Additionally, if you are using a USB-C hub that meets these power requirements, the hub will be disconnected if a device attached draws more than the maximum power declared by the hub."
Your thoughts?
Hey!
Yep I am currently using this one and it seems to be working fine.
