This looks to be the best sd gps unit out there.. great reception and a mini sd slot.. but because of the sdio bug with the XDA IIS, the bloody thing isn't compatible...
It seems to be a software/ driver malfunction rather than a hardware limitation... I'd really love to see someone try to tackle this prob.

to use on blueangel, we would need one sd adapter
btw, is that bug with all units?
also, i think for gps, the best is one bt antenna, because for sure we will fill the sd slot with one memory card

Hmm, I don't think so.. it's fits in to the sd slot on top of the machine plus it has it's own mini sd slot so you can still use extenal storage.
But that being said, because of the o2 xda iis sdio bug it doesn't work for that model.
unless we try another rom to see if the problam persist.
maybe one original 9090 rom
Actually that's a point.. I didn't even consider that a change of rom might fix this issue... good catch.

Hi All,
I have stumbled across a micro to minisd adaptor for micro sd cards and I was wondering if this would actually work on a HTC Wizard device.
http://351435.trustpass.alibaba.com/product/11709112/Micro_SD_To_Mini_SD_Adapter.html
Theoreticly it should because it's just a bigger size. But maybe the software can't handle it. It would be amazing if it could because they are now selling 8gb micro sd cards! The other option is to just use a 4gb Mini SD card but can't seem to find one that people say is guaranteed to work.
Thanks!
this would be soooo great if it would work...anyone have any info?
A micro-to-mini SD adapter should work, provided the microSD card is supported. The new 4/6/8 GB microSD cards are actually microSDHC cards -- a slightly different standard, one that is not supported by the Wizard. The older 2GB & smaller microSD cards should work on the Wizard using the adapter.
BTW, the 6 & 8 GB cards aren't quite on the market yet, as far as I can tell -- even the 4GB are very hard to find. Newer HTC models (TyTN, Touch, Kaiser, etc.) will support SDHC, provided you have the proper ROM firmware.
I was using one with a 2 Gig card until the USB connector fell off my wizard :-( I'm sure it's not related to the adaptor!)
Gordon
Yes it will work, if you did not figure it out yet.
just to confirm, i have been using a 2gb micro sd card in a mini adapter for about a year...no problems.
i got a kingston microSD card of 2GB
it come with a normal SD to microSD conveter
and a miniSD to microSD converter
both work just fine
2gb sandisk micro-mini working here as well...
The PNY micro-mini SD configuration also works fine.
i have PNY adapter to Mini SD. it works great
Transcend 2GB MicroSD (MLC chip :-( )works gr8 too
snif snifff
no micro sd hc 8go nor 6go for my wizard... sh.t !!!!!
got a wizard with a 2go mini sd 80x, good price, anyone interested ?
nobody ? sh.t i was sure !
I came accross this card :
http://www.netfreez.com/products/Netfreez_8GB_miniSD_Flash_Memory_Card_High_Capacity-10733-207.html
It says "high performance" but nowhere does it say SDHC. It would be incredible if it would work in the MDA (wizard). Anyone know anything about this card?
Oh I see it says High Capacity in the title, crap!
Are there any 6 or 8 gb micro or mini sd that are NOT HC? I want more than 2 gb in my MDA.
HEy guys! I have a small problem. I have a Kingston microSD with miniSD adapter and I wanted to use it with my Wizard, but it's not working! (On my PC it works) Please help! I've tried several ROMs (thought that it's the failure of the software), but no effect. Maybe the device's slot turned dead?
same problem
I have the same problem with my kingston 2 gb micro sd, but I know it accepts 2 gb micro cards because I used to use a lexar and it worked fine.

I just happened to see your post. I have a 4GB mini in my 8125 wizard and it works great. I have pictures, mp3's and gps software on it. I have never had any problems. I purchased it from Flash Memory Store. It is not an HD card...they also sell those. I have not seen any 6 or 8GB yet!!!
Here is the link:

Not enough information to tell from your post. Answer is not likely to work as the typical microdrive is the size of a CF card. MD in Athena is smaller and has a special connector, not the stnadard CF type.
i think he means the microdrive and a 6GB microsd with micro to mini adapter. will it all work. answer i believe is yes as it works on hermes, kaiser. windows mobile and our 624MHZ processor will handle it. ultimate confirmation will be when me and ltxda order our 6gb microsds in the near future. ultimately ltxda will prob tell us first if it works or not.
thanks , sorry yes i wanted to mean microsd

Was this module purchased by XDA member ?
http://cgi.ebay.com/GPS-ViewSonic-G...90531526629?pt=US_Tablets&hash=item43a50747e5
If so, any chance to get a report how it's working and perhaps some pictures ?
Thanks
I saw that too and was mighty interested. No pics of the hardware being sent or it installed in the gtablet so I'm just a little curious. I emailed the seller to ask if he's got more for sale or any pics...
I posted on this before. I think its a scam. I think they are selling a gps reciever that is not a internal add on. I got a gps unit for $20.
Scam with positive feedback from the buyer? (and it wasn't re-listed)
I don't think so.
does an external gps exist for this?

Sent from the awesome ZTab
Yep, I use blue tethered to my incredible which works great. Not sure if i'd want to crack open my gtab and monkey around with it to solder on a component.
I think you are missing the point folks,
internal would be way more convenient.
I wouldn't hesitate to solder it but still can't find the right module.

I bought the Gps module. Yes it fits the board and Yes it's installed.
I haven't finished installing it because you have to put power to the chip and install the Ant. Insturction are really not very good. I will get it finished but it's on the back burner now as I'm Modding my Viewpad 10 dual boot.

Any chance you can share what module it is and/or the instructions?
Yeah, that would be great
I really believe an external GPS would be much better, you can reorient to get the best signal. I have BT Delorme but can't seem to get it to pair even with BlueGPS.

When did they release Android 2.x that works on x86?! I would go out and get a Dell Inspiron Mini Duo if I could run Froyo or Honeycomb on it as a dual boot option...
I've posted in another thread about my external keychain GPS receiver from Freedom. It works fine if I want to use the GTab for navigation in the car. It may be similar to the receiver sold by this Ebay seller.
Here's what I have:
http://www.freedominput.com/technical-support/technical-support/mini-gps
It'll be cool if there were cases made with gps built in for tablets.

2.2 x86 came out a few weeks ago finally. Still buggy I'm sure and probably not all that fast.
So how difficukt is the soldering work for tis mod?
So I really want the Galaxy tab 10.1, but why pay extra for the 32gb if the 16GB has a microSD card slot internally eh?
So thats what I want to know - does the Galaxy Tab 10.1 (ebay item: 110756156438), have a micro sd card slot INTERNALLY so I can crack it open put a quality 32GB card in and seal it up again?
Highly unlikely.
I'm pretty sure there is not a card slot inside. It's just like all other android devices that specify internal and external SD. The internal SD is hardwired. I'm not sure why they call it internal SD and not flash memory or NV memory as it only adds confusion. The best thing to do is get the 16 GB and buy the OTG usb host adapter on Ebay for $7 to connect a USB hard drive (that's what I did). Not worth an extra $100 for the 32 GB version IMO.
Damn you samsung, I can live with ALL the shortcomings of the Galaxy tab, but not the exclusion of a Micro SD card slot. It's a deal breaker - not just because I can add more storage but because should it get bricked I can grab my files from the SD card!
Then wait for the Toshiba AT200.
Or the Transformer 2?

Not this thread again. About 2 months there was a big debate about this. It ended when someone opened up a tab and confirmed there is NOT a slot internally.

Doesn't this come free with the tablet to begin with? I got one inside the box, so maybe they started including it later. Never used it yet, but I think this is what they threw in with the tab: http://www.samsung.com/us/mobile/galaxy-tab-accessories/EPL-1PL0BEGSTA

I just got mine last week from Best Buy and all that was in the box was a wall charger, usb cable and earbuds. The adapter you linked to was on the shelf next to it for $20.
It would love to take this thing apart and see for real. Im sure you could mod it to accept something bigger

Thanks for that dude, those pics were very helpful! I thought because the 10.1v had one (or some say it did), maybe the 10.1 would aswell for those not afraid to crack it open.
My bad it's not a simcard slot.

That's strange, over here (in India) it was a part of package i.e. the adapter was inside the box. Both me and my friend who bought the tablet about a week apart got one.
I didnt get one. :-(

Anyone reckong we'll see some hardware mods? I thought there'd be some by now tbh. I'd like to see an [android] compatible 3G modem and a way to fit an internal 32GB micro sd card (should be doable with usb host and stealing a 5v feed from somewhere inside).
For the modem, there already is a thread about it, but it doesn't look good atm.
Video out would be sick... I'm definitely not a hardware guy ... yet
No idea if it's even possible though
