1. if im unlocking using the Pudding method.. will it really void the warranty on the device? anyone tried using warranty after unlocking? hardbricks guys.. whats your experience?
2. does the new 4.5.91 update from at&t comes with an unlock option in the bootloader menu?
thanks.
2. No the update does not. They removed the unlocked option.
As for 1, there is a warning that you may void your guarantee..

Key word being "May". They would have to prove that your modification damaged the device and not a faulty component. Such as when you buy a car and decide to put an aftermarket oil filter/air filter on it and then your horn quits working. They would still have to warranty your horn as the filters had nothing to do with the faulty horn.
So, if we have completed official 4.5.91 ota, what do we use to free up our atrix
What are the steps to unlock bootloader after one completes the new ota update 4.5.91 ?
And how to root after this latest update? Lots of messages about bricking so I would like to be sure of the correct method to use?

Just a question will I need to be unrooted to receive and or download/ install the ICS upgrade when it is made available?
Sent from my rooted HTC_Amaze_4G using Tapatalk
From what I recall, you need to relock the bootloader to install OTA updates... So, I would assume you would need at least to relock the bootloader if they do not give us a zip to upgrade to ICS... And even then, to update from zip, you have to relock the bootloader, it will also delete your superuser on the rom, so you will lose root. It will probably also overwrite your recovery at the same time, so in the end, it's best to relock the bootloader before you upgrade to OTA to prevent it from bricking your phone.
With the last update we did not have to relock our bootloader however we did need the stock recovery. We've only had one OTA update since we've obtained root so it's difficult to say what a totally new build will require.
In most cases with various different phones, you can download the OTA to the phone but it will not install if the /system partition has been modified and you have a custom recovery installed. In order to properly update with an OTA, the ROM would need to be returned to stock and you would need to flash the stock recovery back to the phone as the OTA does checks against the system to ensure it's okay to flash. You do not have to be relocked in order to install it, however.
The best idea would be to wait until the OTA has been modified to ignore /system modifications and can be flashed using CWM, but of course that takes a little time until it is available.
I found the Stock Roms forum but will that relock my boot loader as well. I'm thinking it won't but doesn't hurt to ask.

No, the only ways to relock the bootloader is to run the Relocker script in the dev forum, or manually type "fastboot oem lock" in fastboot. Flashing ROMs will not relock the phone for you.
However, it is worth noting that you cannot flash the official stock ROMs without having the phone relocked first.

Not true. we did flash the stock roms the last time ota update came out and we didnt relock the bootloader. it only required to have stock recovery because you lose root once you flash the stock rom.

You must relock the bootloader to flash the RUU file.
i think i will wait until one of the developers or x makes a ota rooted build, usually when all the major ota comes somebody makes a rooted flash leak about it,

I can assure you that you did not. What I'm talking about is the RUU stock ROM file. But the point is moot because you're wrong.

I have motorola atrix 4g (Android Version 2.3.6, Baseband Version - M_01.77.37P, Build Version - 4.5.141).
The phone is still ATT locked and unrooted. It still has manufacture warranty.
If I sim-unlock my phone, am I voiding manufacture warranty?
Do I need to root the phone for sim-unlock?

You can easily buy an unlock code off some website (I brought mine from a dealer in eBay)
You never void your warranty by network unlock.
Good luck !

Hi to all...
I've been struggling for a week now! Been looking throughout this forum without any luck...! I was running Energy rom on a Telus Amaze. Last week, the phone got REALLY slow and froze... It got into a bootloop and nothing could get it working.... I tried to flash a new rom (Nightmare, CM, Energy, Viper... I guess I've tried them all!!) I finally flashed T-MO RUU wich was the only way I could get it to work... After the T-Mo flash, I flashed Revolution HD and the phone was able to boot! Unfortunately, I get no IMEI# And no Baseband... The phone is S-OFF, Super CID and SIM Unlocked... I'm out of ideas and very desperate... I Tried flashing Telus RUU GB and It's not working....
If anyone has any Idea how to help, it would be greatly apreciated! I'm not a coder so if there's any info missing, please, let me know how I can help you figure out my problem!!
Recovery: EXT4
Kernell: Faux's latest
Rom: Energy, Revolution, RUU T-MO,
Network: Telus,
Android Version: 2.3.4
Sens: 3.0
Software number: 1.41.661.3
Trying to give as much info as I can think of!
Anyone...?!
I ran into the same issue a few months ago. Mine ended up being a hardware issue and had to send it in to HTC to replace the motherboard. However, before going to that point, download the stock RUU and install it through your bootloader. Your partitions may have gotten corrupted some how and is now causing the issue. If the partitions aren't the issue, contact HTC to see if your Amaze is still under warranty and they should fix it for free if it is. You would only be responsible to pay for the shipping there.
Oh, don't forget to back up everything before you do anything.
Edit: My apologies, forgot that you mentioned you already tried the RUU. I would just contact HTC.

By unlocking you mean from the carrier? If you update, you should receive the update from the carrier you are on.

After relocking you will (Bootloader). I am putting one of my One's on E-Bay, all the work is already done, S-Off, Dev edition RUU, 32 gig ATT version with the media thing. PM me if you are interested, it is going on tonight for shipping to US only. Very good condition, original box.
