Unable to unlock Cingular 8525, weird problem... - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam Software Upgradin

I've used the v3a unlocked program many times without any problems ever. Today I got a 8525 in, and I ran the v3a program, everything went pretty normal, flashed the IPL/SPL radio or whatever, and then when it came time to running the unlocker on the phone, it wouldn't work. I tried to copy the unlocker.exe to the phone and then run it, the little notification comes up asking me if I want to run the program, I hit yes, and the phone does nothing. I hard reset the phone, then tried it, same problem. I upgraded the phone to the latest AT&T software and then tried it again, still, the program just doesn't run after I hit "yes". Anyone have any ideas as to what is going on? Thank in advance!

Are you able to post a screenshot? I think that the new interface leaves room for some error. When it is ready to run, you have to use the right softkey to initiate the unlocker on the phone.

after running the unlocker did you wait for at least a minute or 2? it can take a few minutes...

Thanks for the quick responses guys, I tried it again, but this time I did all the steps manualls instead of using Autounlocker.bat or whatever it's called and it worked!! Thanks!

My 8525 in en-route with FedEx..it will only be a matter of time before I have to go WM6 having got used to it on my old S200.
From this post I'm assuming that v3 of the unlocker is working??

trouble in paradise... why can't i flash roms?

first off let me start off by saying, yes, i'm a noob. i started out by reading all the posts in every thread i could. i have a x10ht that i bought at the local asian mall, not knowing that there were so many problems unlocking it
this is the second failed attempt at flashing a new rom onto my phone. i must say, i am not impressed. it froze the last time, i'm not sure where, and this time at 47%. kinda annoying when u think about it. i took the precautions and followed instructions, but to no avail
can anyone help? i'll give all the details i can...
bl 1.09
radio 1.14
old rom was 1.35
What state is it in now?
if i plug it in to the pc, it goes into bl 1.09
so, i was able to flash the old softbank rom onto it, but now i'm stuck with a japanese device with a sim lock on it(i think). i can't even set up activesync to try to update again. any ideas guys?
I don't have much xp with the ideosyncracies of the Softbank X01ht, but you should be able to build a sspl RUU featuring the os.nb of your choice. I believe you don't want to try flashing the radio ROM area but an os.nb only flash should restore the english version of your choice.
I'd look for confirmation on the above conjecture however, before trying these steps:
download the ruu of your choice and extract the signed nbh file using winrar or equivalent (the exe is an executable rar file)
use nbhextract or nbhdump to extract all the files
use Olipro's RUU builder to create a sspl RUU with only os.nb (use the 06_os.nb extracted from step 2)
flash this onto your device
This procedure should raise a lot of questions for you to research the answers to. The answers are all here I assure you. In researching, you will learn about the techniques of custom flashing for Hermes and whether they can really be used safely on your device.
Flashing the japanese ROM shouldn't have SIM locked you again. However, if it is you can research your free solution on this thread or you can purchase unlock from here.
Also: please explain what you mean by "Can't set up Activesync"
the only problem is right now i can't even access my device... there appears to be some sort of lock on it, something to do with usim and i have no clue what it says. but i can't do anything with it
Its probably saying the SIM is incorrect. You may well be SIMLocked....
You need to get it to the today screen to do sspl flashing. Try resetting with no SIM installed. the first thing you should see after the WM splash is the phone dialer saying "The SIM is missing" in japanese. Hit the cancel button which on my TyTN is the first labeled button above the green button to return to the today screen (you may have to experiment to find the right button).
i do get that, but after a few seconds, it goes to a screen where you can put in a code and there is writing on the left soft button, but you can't select it, i assume until a suitable length code is input, and it has no ok button, so i can't even get out of it... help!!!
and by can't set up activesync i mean that i can only get into the today screen for a very limited time, and activesync doesn't seem to connect fast enough, so i'm kind of stuck.
This happens when there's no SIM installed?
yes, it does. but i may have found out something. i can connect to my hermes through activesync on my work computer... hmmm... let me see here...
wow, that was an experience
so i think i'm good, i'll update you guys as teh day goes on, but i may have fixed this myself, and i feel so releived.
yes, the same usim message was coming up regardless of the way i started it up, but i had about 20 seconds of pda usage before it would come up. i got activesync working via the work laptop on the usim screen, and was able to copy sspl over, i restarted and quickly ran sspl, which got me into des's bootloader. from there, it was just a matter of running the ruu i wanted to run in the first place, WM6 .2, and voila, we seem to be back in business... but i don't ever want to do that again, so i think i'm going to flash that hard sspl... but first to test the radio's and and other features.... wow. last time the flash ****ed up on me, i had to pay this guy $30 to fix it, and tho he did, he never wanted me to know how so i could do it myself next time. screw him!!!!
thanks to everyone and their hard work on the forums here. without you, i'd be styling with a razr rather than hacking this thing apart like it was an xbox or psp....

Upgrading to WM6 ATT8525 Problems

So forgive me, as I'm mostly new. I have been searching for hour for a thread, not wanting to duplicate and I cannot find this issue.
Windows XP Pro Computer
Running WM5 on the BRAND NEW phone.
Just downloaded activesync 4.5
I bought an att8525 and want to upgrade it to wm6. I found the thread with the official rom's. I figured I'd do the official before I got tricky. My problem is this, when I run the program and the phone is connected, the phone kicks off into the tricolored screen (I believe is the bootloader?) I try to run the upgrade and before the upgrade begins one screen says be sure you have an activesync connection. Well, I can't get an activesync with the bootloader screen on. So I tried running the program with the phone in bootloader AND I tried getting the phone back to the OS before continuing the installation. Neither worked.
So both come back with an error trying to connect to the phone spitting back crap about be sure the phone is still connected".
In the bootloader?? screen it says 2 things.
herm100
ipl-1.03
herm100
spl-1.11
I have had no problems with this phone before... and I very much would like windows mobile 6, and I know it works, I've seen it, I just don't know whats going on. Please, any help would be appreciated.

I feel your pain and had the same problems.
Bag the conventional upgrade and use the memory card method. Refer to the instructions in the wiki. It works quite well.
I had the same problem. I used this and it worked:

Where do I put the .nbh??? first time to this. Thanks.

Upgrade Woes Please Help

Hey guys I just got my Hermes in the mail today to replace my old phone.
I upgraded to SPL-2.10.Olipro without any problems.
Now I tried to install the 1.51 radio as well as schaps wwe wm6.0 rom.
Both of these failed giving me a connection error (260). I do everything correctly autodetect works and everything. But when it goes to kick me to the bootloader which it does, the activesync gets disconnected. I'm getting really frustrated, can anyone help me please?
Thanks,
nomb
Same thing that was happening to me....when the progress bar comes up...but it in bootloader mode manually (Side ok + Power+ Stylus Reset)

You'll need to unlock your phone first. You can read up on it in this thread. Also, I would strongly suggest checking out the wiki and also MrVanx's upgrade guides here, before you go any further.
Good luck!
Well I got everything working. I had to update activesync and everything was ok. The only problem is I had trouble getting the internet to work over gprs.
I didn't unlock my phone altho I do want to. But the SPL-2.10.Olipro website specifically says that you do not have to unlock your phone to flash the roms anymore. Now you have me paranoid tho. Everything seems to be ok.
Any thoughts?
Also, I followed this guide (http://www.mrvanx.org/cms/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=64&Itemid=26) which didn't say anything about unlocking the CID. I also put on the 1.51 radio and a differant WM6.

Glad to hear everything went well.
Yeah, if you put on HSPL7 no worries about CID unlocking. You are good to go!

1) you should use Olipro 2.4 at minimum.. or NueSPL 2.47. Download Olipro 2.4... HERE . Extract the files.
2) find the exe called... titan_exitbl.exe in the directory. Open activesync and uncheck the box that says allow USB connections. Then run that exe obviously with the USB cable connected.
Nevermind
Im just an idiot. The unlocker i used on my Titan just unlocked the phone. This one did a total wipe. I installed DCDs ROM and everything is fine. Sorry for being stupid =)

Yup. If you get stuck in the bootloader screen.. you can just put in a MicroSD card with the TITAIMG.nbh file on it... and reboot. this will not only flash the new image... but will get you out of the bootloader screen.

New User - Telus P4000

Hey guys,
I just got a brand new Telus P4000, and love the look of this ROM - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=462827.
I have been trying to figure out for hours how to put this on, and have checked all the FAQs and guides I can find, and am very frustrated, and I am really hoping one of you guys are able to help...
So i updated the firmware from HTC from 5 to 6.1 I believe. I ran nueSPL-2.47 on the phone and believe it installed successfully?
Whenever I try to install a ROM it gets stuck at 0% and then says that an error has occured.
I am probably missing something stupid and small, but and so new to phones and am having a hard time.... Anyone have any insights?
Thanks
your probably not actually unlocked, put it in bootloader (power +camera then soft reset) and read what it says, should say 2.40 olipro somewhere there. if not, re-run the unlocker and make sure you follow all its directions explicitly. alot of people leave out the disconnect and reconect step thinking it's not necesary, when in fact, windows won't load drivers without disconecting first
