First of all... ¿How can i use ringtones that are stored on the microSD card?...i've a couple of questions on my mind but i just want to know this from an instance.
Create a My Documents folder on your card, and put the ringtones in there. You should now be able to see / select them in the phone options.
Thank you my friend . Foolish of me not to think about that .. I'll be back for some questions later....

Hi all,
I've searched the forum for anything like this, but i couldn't find it.
So here is my question: Would it be possible to create a virtual SDcard, so you can put music and stuff on.
That would be wonderful.

Steyn
You can partition your card, but it's not recommended.
Best thing I've found is just put Android in a different folder, and use the rel_path statement in your startup.txt. Not perfect, as Android does create some folders at the root of the SD.
Hi, I finally finished installing CM7 7.1.0 on a 32GB card and make it dual boot with nook color without having to remove the card. I am totally new to tablet and this whole new stuff of android and all those apps. I feel it's cool and fun. Now I have some very simple and silly questions need to solve and put it into real use.
I am going to add a lot of files that I created and saved in the the past to this gadget and each of them has to go either to the 32GB card or the internal 8GB (actually 1 GB) memory. I used the USB cable connected it to my PC and it does not seem look that the two know each other. Maybe this is not the right way. How do I add files? would the location of each file matter when I add them? I will use both the stock nook and the CM7 tablet. Some files maybe used by both system, e.g. photos and PDF files and some books. Will this cause some potential problems? I intend to add most files to the 32 GB card. Which is the right way or good way to add files to it? Do I take the card out and put it into an adaptor on PC and create some sort of folders and add files in? Can the android do this the same way as windows? Since I have made the dual boot posisble without removing the card I am reluctant to take that tiny card out again. I am going to add PDF, office files, music, photo and video etc in them. Except some simple apps I am still not comfortable in using some apps. I am a very bewbie to the android environment.
Thanks.
Hello friends,
My phone is a Sony Ericsson Xperia Ray ST18i (2011)....but my question is not related to the phone but all android phones.
I try my best to keep the folders and partitions organized in my laptop. but the same cant be done in the phone's sd card.
if i install a app for an instance, say Handcent app, it creates a folder in the main (root) of the SD card (i suppose /sdcard), with the name "Handcent" and similarly every app i install creates folders and now i have a big messy link of folders.
and also many are uninstalled but the folders are left alone in the card that i need to delete. (which i tend to forget).
Is there a remedy for this matter? anything that will remove the folder and contents (with user permission) when uninstalling the app?
SD card is littered with names and unknown codes that i dont know which app created this.
Please provide a solution that i can keep the card organized well.
Im running ICS 4.0.4 custom rom, with 32GB Class 4 Kingston MicroSD Card.
Thank you all,
Tim
Download system Cleanup from market. It will list those folders as "Delete Dead datafolder".
This tool require root I guess.
If you said about this
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.SystemCleanup.Inteks.org&feature=search_result
it is not the one. cause that is something for the data and app folder inside the android box. not on the sd card. i think something is fitting on SD Maid
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=eu.thedarken.sdm&feature=search_result
Will try the maid and give feedback.
Thank you!
Actually both of the apps work good. need to do some work with that SD Maid. very good one. but need patience to work with. And the other one is good but does all in the system itself. good to clean some caches.
Thanks! will be digging for more.

Regarding Android Jelly Bean version and my Verizon S4 (sch-i545)...
I know that the native folder location for ringtones, alerts, and notifications is at /system/media/audio
But, where can I create a folder on the sdcard (or ext_sdcard) to add my own ringtones?
I've created and moved mp3's into the following folder structures, rebooted and still don't see them when I try to add new ringtones:
\sdcard\media\audio\ringtones
\sdcard\media\ringtones
\sdcard\ringtones
None of the 3 above folder structures work. Anyone have an idea or do I have to move mp3 files into the /system location?
The stock ringtones are in /system/media/audio/ringtones ... I've been putting my files there but you need root explorer
\mnt\extSdCard\Alarms
\mnt\extSdCard\Notifications
\mnt\extSdCard\Ringtones
Those are 3 folders that work off of the external SD Card. Obviously if you're just looking for a place for a ringtone and don't care about alarms or notifications then just disregard the first 2.
I prefer the external SD Card so that my custom sounds can be carried over between ROM installations without a backup.

So I discovered what you responded above at the same time.
My problem was that I kept looking at the extSdCard as an external SD card. Therefore I was trying everything at the \mnt\sdcard level
When I finally stumbled onto the fact that if I put the files in the respective folders on the folder structure you listed above, then it works.
Again, my confusion is that I thought everthing needed to be placed at the root of scard.
Seems weird to me but I think the S4 looks at the external SD card as "sd card"

I think that TW on the S4 does something funky with what it calls sdcard where it's actually an emulated partition rather than a true file path like on other phones or variations of Android. Whenever you pull up default storage locations of app data and the like, it always shows up as something like: /storage/emulated/0...
For me, extSdCard is definitely my 64GB SD card that I put in myself. Maybe someone more knowledgeable can take it from here. This is my first Android phone from Samsung, and by extension my first experience with TW.
I noticed the same thing (storage/emulated/0/ ) confused the crap out of me at first. I would download files and had no idea where they ended up.

Yeah, I've been trying to research the SDcard vs. ExtSDcard differences. It seems to me like it's different from what I remember. I'd also appreciate any insight anyone has on this. I totally am not (yet) getting the emulated partition. When I go hunt for stuff, I use root explorer to go to \mnt\sdcard and don't start with the emulated partition. There doesn't seem to be much explanation out there so far as I can tell.
HI, first thanks for the help of people here.
Well, I'm using a feiteng h7100 for about a year and a half and im soon buying a new device (probably thl t100s).
the problem with the my current device is that it has low internal storage so I can't install many apps (1GB only for apps, etc), and I move each app I can to the 16GB sd card inside.
Now, I've gotta move all my private stuff to my new phone, including pictures, videos, whatsapp (and chat history of whatsapp too is important to me), I see that on phone storage (like internal storage, just for pics and the app data) there's nothing, all my data is storaged on sd card, including trash files that are not relevant from me of apps I deleted.
I wanna know how do I backup my pics, videos and music and whatsapp conversations and get rid the rest of the junk files.
I was thinking I could move all my media to the computer and move it to the new phone after, but what about whatsapp conversation history? I know there's a restore option, from what I can see the whatsapp backup files are located in my sd card, can I copy the whatsapp directory to my computer, then put it inside the phone storage of the new phone (since it has 32GB) and then when I install whastapp it will recognize and restore?
thx and sorry for long message hehe

To move your chat history to your new device do the following:
On your old device go to WhatsApp > Menu Button > Settings > Chat settings > Backup conversations
Transfer your SD card to your new device
Then on your new device open WhatsApp and click Restore

thank you, but I don't want all the information on sd card to move to the new phone, I want the whatsapp conversations to be storaged on the internal storage of the phone.

In that case copy the WhatsApp backup in your internal storage and restore from there.
