question for Atom Life owners - iPAQ rw6828, XDA Atom Software Upgrading

can Atom Life owners confirm that the LCD's are free from the horrible squealing noise? I am considering buying one.

I have had four Atoms replaced for the squealing LCD's and still the damn thing squeals its head off, I swore I'd never buy another O2 but the Atom Life is a good looking package, fast, plenty internal storage, WM6, improved audio, however there is no way I am spending $1000 on a squealing whaling faulty handset again especially with the customer support offered by O2! Why on earth would they continue using Quanta with all the troubles they had with the Atom and Atom Exec.

i suggest you buy o2 FLAME..it much better than all..
-=[serialzs]=-

Yeah I've seen the Flame looks a good unit too but its just too big, so can anyone confirm the LCD's are ok?

I'm using an WM6 atom life and have found no squealing isues with it.

Phone Selection Guide
I suggest you surf at www.pdadb.net and do a device to device comparison... from technical specs to looks and sizes... You can even set the specs you want and list out all the options.
O2 is not the sole seller of the good stuff... if you know what I mean.
Good Luck!

O2 Atom Life
Im wondering whats the problem really...because mine is totally awesome. I have no complain on my O2 Life even after I installed HTC Kaiser Home plugin, SPB Mobile Shell/Diary/Back Up, Resco Explorer, etc...what Im saying is that this is the best PPC/PDA I have so far....no complain. Full Stop.

Atom Life - best ever
Totally agree with Observer 365 - best I have owned.
No squealing, no call dropout (have prioritized GSM over 3G to avoid auto switching when 3G gets weak), only slow when i have more than 4 or 5 applications running and one is doing something (to be expected).
The only issue I have is that I have spent close to $3000 on PPCs to get here, and I spend way more time than I have available fiddling with it! Well done O2. A better device every upgrade.
mbb

I am very put off by anything made by Quanta! The Life is just the Atom with an upgraded CPU and bigger rom other than that I hear the Mobo is exactly the same....jigga jiggs is right O2 is definately not the best seller of the 'good stuff' Thank you for your feed back.... btw currently considering HTC Touch 2 (HTC Nike) only if its released with inbuilt GPS or the HTC Vogue if it is released with GSM functionality but I doubt it.

rofl get a nokia n95..
i regretted getting an o2 xda atom exec
this looks good check it out

no chance I'll ever buy any Symbian especially not a mechanical one

i have been using quanta apollo for a few months now and it works flawless....
though i would not say that it is fast but then it aint slow either and the 1GB rom is a plus point with a whooping 624Mhz is another whammy
but if u ask me personally i would prefer my sister's Flame any given day the 128Mb ram does wonders (though u must not mind its huge size!)

i'm with you on that one m8
i myself have jumped the boat too WM and dont regret it a single day...
though symbian is less hassle but then it may be because it has very little productiveness and the hardware config is still so primitive(i mean the processing and RAM)
... but one thing is sure symbian os is an OS to look upto in the near

[Q] Is HD2 best option?

I have been watching HD2 over videos since about a month now. Is it the best smartphone in the market as of today? Is it worth buying it (i will need an unlocked phone) or is there anything better in the market for Unlocked GSM phones?
Thanks for all the help

I had a Nexus One for 5 months and I am happy I made the switch since the Hd2's screen size is amazing and the Hd2 allows me to pair my bluetooth keyboard up to type reports on it.
The only thing I miss about Android is how Google Maps Voice Navigation is just a tinsy bit better than Bings Maps Voice Navigation when it comes to viewing options. Other than that Windows Mobile is just as good as Android and the HD2 has better specs.

I was confused over choosing HD2 or Desire. Though both are different as one uses WIN6.5 and other Android, and HD2 obviously has a bigger screen. But a lot of people told me that the only thing good about HD2 is the screen size and everything else is not as good.
Sorry if i am asking a lot of Qs, but is it the best pick when compared to any GSM handsets, be it Desire or be it iPhone?

I had an iPhone 3gs before my Nexus One so I'm used to both Android and iOS but I'd have to say if I had to give up all of my phones and I had the choice of a new one it would STILL be the Hd2. It really is the perfect phone for me since it fulfills every single one of my needs beautifully:
- Free Bing turn by turn GPS voice directions (iPhone doesn't)
- I access my Google Voice account for free text messaging through the browser m.google.com/voice to send free text messages
- I can pair up a bluetooth keyboard with my Hd2 and type reports on Word or Excel in my college classes (I looked forever but there is NO way to do this with Android yet unless you want to pay an extra $120 for a freedom bluetooth keyboard... the only keyboard that will work with Android)
- Its on T-mobile (so I have the best prices without having to sign a contract and I can sell it anytime without having to pay an ETF)
- I can play playstation emulators on it with my wiimote
- The camera is amazing
- The screen is amazing
- I can record my voice lectures in class with it
- I can tether my computer with it
- I can carry a tiny spare battery to last all day if I am going to be using it heavily (iPhone cant)
I was hoping the Nexus One would be my all in one device and fulfill all of the above needs but it failed in one crucial regard: The bluetooth keyboard support. Since the HD2 actually did all of these PLUS the screen is bigger made the decision quite easy for me.
Thanks again AP...
so this narrows down me to HD2 or Desire (leaving out Nexus one and iPhone 3GS).
I hope someone using Desire can post about Desire vs HD2 soon
thanks again

No, i have always been using Nokias till date (worst phones for business i guess). But as i am into software business and move more frequenty these days, i need a phone which can carry my mails and documents etc. Also could test my web applications on the device.
My bro is getting android, my partner has android and another partner has got iPhone. But i thought i could get more expert reviews here. Havent got to use the iPhone and Andriod myself as they are not in the same country as me.
I would suggest to wait a little longer before making your choice. This fall starting the end of September new phones will roll up and you will have more options to choose from. Check this out

hd2 has its flaws like any other device most notably the battery life is appaling..i
prior to the hd2 have been accustomed to nokia/symbian devices so going to winmo6.5 was a massive jump in terms of o/s..my general point of view is that most devices i.e iphone come out of the box fully functional however the hd2 involves alot of tweaking/customising to how you want it which is a great feature to have imo..you talked about android ,there are plenty of roms available and more to come im sure, stable or not and even one day we got winmo7 to look forward to not officially thou..i love my hd2!

In your sig, I see you use a stock ROM.
From my personal experience , I had a pretty bad battery life at first when using stock ROMs, but since I use cooked ROMs, my battery life is much better (some ROMs are better than others of course).
If I don't charge the phone every night (which I usually do by habit and because it's better for the battery), it usually lasts between 2 and 3,5 days with normal use.
Normal use =
- Around 15-30 minutes calls.
- 3-4 e-mails.
- 15-20 minutes surfing.
- 30-40 minutes doing various stuff (checking oMarket, downloading, installing and testing an app or 2, taking and watching pictures, checking the weather, my e-mails, my appointments, twitter, etc...).
- 20-30 minutes GPS with iGo Primo (not charging in the car).
- Bluetooth and Wi-Fi are off most of the time.
- 3G Data (HSDPA) always on, weather + twitter + 2 mail accounts checking every hour.
Usually at the end of a full work day, I still have between 75 and 85% battery.
Doing the same thing with the stock ROM left me with around 25% battery at the end of the day.
When the phone is in standby, it uses about 1% every 2-3 hours (Today was a quiet day, my phone still has 94% battery and it's been running for 9 hours).
So if the battery life is really a problem for you, you might want to try that

I currently use Touch X-Treme by Smaberg :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=631049
This ROM is very fast and stable, with great battery, though Smaberg discontinued the series, so it's not the latest build of WM6.5 and Manila (though that's not a problem unless you like to flash often just to get the latest versions).
The only problem I had is the fact that when running Android on it, I have the robotic voice (if you've tried Android builds, you might know what it is).
I'm still just testing out Android from time to time, but I'm thinking of trying the Omega ROM series.
Once I've tested that one, I'll post the results here if you want.
Btw, after installing a new ROM (any ROM), the battery life won't be too good for the first 2 charges or so, buy after that, it's much better.
still not clear if i should get an HD2 or wait for Desire HD or Dell devices with WIN7...
will really appriciate any help in this direction...
dude, i have HD2 and its aaa-mazing
its the best phone on the market right now, its way beyond our older phones and much more sophisticated. the only issue is the storage cards and winmo7.
hd2 wont be able to run winmo7 and the new storage cards with 64+ gb capacity wont work with hd2.
if you ask me im okay with it, im pretty satisfied with winmo6.5 with htc sense. the storage card thing is a bummer, but well **** happens
i heard a rumor about htc's new project HD3. and if thats real man, wow. you might want to wait for it, cause rumor says it will be unveiled later this year.
but right now. HD2. is. awesome.

Have you even read the posts, they say go and get it,but you have to do some tweaks probably many tweaks, they are all here in the first and second threads , by the time you do that, you will become an expert in WM and HD2 tweaking and will never let it go,at least, easily.
I got mine 6 months ago,my wife also got one last week despite having an Iphone, she seems to have discovered that watching the Two And Half Men series is an awsome experiance comparing to Iphone's smaller screen !!,and this weekend my son is going to get one too, looks like he is done with Nokias and doesnt like the Iphone much.!!
BTW we are still on stock ROM.1.66 and 1.48.

[Q] Should I buy HD2?

I am in a purchasing dilemma since my Diamond died. I have HD2, Samsung Galaxy S and HTC Desire in my list.
Let me try to write what I have in mind. Pardon me if I offended anyone but these are purely my opinion.
Looks: HD2 has the sleekest design, Samsung Galaxy S isn't bad either but I don't like the curved corners in HTC Desire.
Winner: HD2
Screen: SGS has 4" S-AMOLED. HD2 doesn't but has got 4.3" gorgeous display. HTC Desire is somewhat in the middle, offering 3.7" SLCD.
Winner: SGS. Runnerup: HD2
Camera flash: SGS doesn't have a flash. I assume HD2 has a better dual LED flash than Desire.
Winner: HD2
OS: This part is what I hate and largely contributes to my dilemma. SGS and HTC Desire runs on Android natively, which I think these devices have a long time to be developed before they become obsolete. HTC Desire may have a leading edge compared to SGS because HTC devices have a great amount of developers working on it. HD2 is capable of running Android but its fundamental operating system is WM 6.5, which soon may become obsolete.
Winner: HTC Desire
Graphic performance: SGS has a better GPU than HTC Desire and HD2. I also wonder if the poorly implemented GPU driver in HD2 would hinder progress in future Android builds such as Gingerbread.
Winner: SGS
Price: SGS>Desire>HD2 in my country. HD2 wins.
Guys, help me decide. I could have waited for WP7 devices IF my Diamond did not unexpectedly give up, but I don't have a choice but to grab a phone now. Which device should I go for? Or could I have overlooked any potential models?
nice review but which uses u do with ur phone that what important
I use my phone for browsing, instant messaging and GPS. I prefer phones which I can modify its software to fit my needs, for example, ROM cooking. I am leaning towards Android, I have been using WM for too long and I'm a little bored with it.
....ive been a user of HD2 for the past year nd honestly.....i couldnt stand the msgng client in it! it just is plain frustrating........also from the momnet u buy the hd2 u cant but start installing stuff to change the whole phone experience!........same thng with my previous diamond 2!
i bought a SGS nd so far have been very impressed.....no lags.......no restarts........however i miss wm apps.......you have open source apps for wm which span all categories nd most are free or cracked.......android is still new but has potential if you bear the wait.......for ex you can't find a decent battery/clock/weather widget for your homescreen!!!! ..........already am looking forward for windows phone...........but i guess android it is for now.
As for SGS vs Desire, well to tell u the truth, i became very doubtful abt HTC support services...........they never target the right issues! they're just too lame......
If you happen to have any spare phone (smart or not) lying around then I'd suggest you use that phone until WP7 phones come out. They are coming really soon and you should give them a chance to be considered. You might regret if you buy a phone now and a month later a WP7 phone comes out with features that you really really like.
Well, Just my opinion - that's what I'd do anyway if I was in your situation. In any case, good luck with your decision

I am using HD2 and i'm very happy with it. If you wanna go HD2, be alarmed that the stock ROM from HTC won't be a satisfactory user experience. I would advise you to look for a custom ROM, that fulfills your user needs (battery power absorbtion, eye candy, crashing,...)
After that you get almost unlimited customisation ability. On the other side, HD2 won't gen any major official customer support, so if you are o.k. with that, there's no other trendemous downside.
One other thing...
if you are a regular customer, who prefers simplicity and no customization (iPhone), this is probably not suited for you
Sent from my HD2
downside if you get the hd2 is that, i doubt htc will release any further official updates for it however look how much this forum has to offer in regards with cooked roms, android port or eventually wm7 port(hopefully) but its fundamental o/s is pretty dire without the enhancements ie battery life and frezzing up ..your stated you been using windows o/s so in a way you know what to expect from a windows phone i havnt tried the desire but reviews are pretty sound..played with the sgs very briefly thought android alot smoother, i love the voice recognition aspect of it eg on goggle if you speak to it, it will fill in the google search field for you, i was impressed! personally i would hold on until the rumoured hd3 or hd7 comes out this year
I think you should buy a cheap replacement at for now. Since WP7 I think will be released soon(I hope), you can wait for it. Anyway in case you won't like WP7, you can still get the HD2(over SGS and Desire) and I think it will be lot cheaper but great overall.
I bought HD2 some time before Desire release.. I also was stuck a long time don't know if to wait or buy.. Then I sold it while Galaxy S hit the store cause I got good money for it.. Then I had the chance, Galaxy S or HD2 again.. I bought HD2 again and didn't regret it..
If I look at the price and the possibilities the HD2 is the winner for me.. Also the quality and display is really good.. Android for me is ready for daily use (Bangster 1.2A Build), no need for NAND atm love the possibility switch between WinMo and Android.. WP7 is coming for shure and Ubuntu also =) But if you don't want to change OS then buy Android phone, I came from Palm to Windows Mobile years ago but I never got an experience like Android, best usability you can get in my opinion..
Only advantage I see with Samsung is the better GPU, but in Quadrant benchmark I get a much higher CPU score, so don't know which is better.. NFS Shift runs smooth though =)
I have to agree with the last 2 posts, came from a Mytouch andriod phone to the HD2. If it wasn't for the fact that I can sync up my calander and contacts from my outlook, this phone would be have been sold 1 day after I bought it. 3 apps on the crappy windows market also make the phone ok. Being able to put different roms helps, but it really only changes screens around, it still runs on crappy windows
But if I had my choice I would have stayed with my Mytouch and spent $275 on a newer andriod phone then this POS.
Great replies. I've decided to go for Samsung Galaxy S. Cheers~

[Q] THE COMPARISON: x10 or HD2 w/Android, worth the swap?

Like some others I'm getting a little tired of my x10, not going to go into details about this.
BUT, I read somewhere that people are beginning to be able to run android - 2.1, 2.2, even saw 3.0 somewhere (might have been fake) - on their HD2 devices. It also seems like this is something that is improving at a constant rate.
Now, my question is, how competent would the hd2, running android, be as a replacement to the x10 (tbh to me it seems like there won't be much change with 2.1 for x10)? How do they compare hardware wise?
Anyone got any info on this?
thanks ahead of time
For one... 3.0 doesn't exist.
As they compare hardware wise, the HD2 has a 4.3 inch screen, does it not? To me, that's a little too large for a phone. (The X10 is already huge at 4 inches).
Otherwise, if you wanna move to an HD2 running a hacked version of Android when the similarly sized, but much more powerful Desire HD is coming out, more power to you.... I'd choose to not be stuck with "older" hardware if I were going to change phones six months after buying a different one.
I have previously owned an HD2. While, yes, you can run Android, it's not ideal. First of all, it does not have the ability to load Android in ROM. It runs it in a dual-boot mode and Android runs off the SD card. The presents a few issues and compromises of it's own. This also opens the door to some serious corruption of the device reboots or the SD card is accidentally removed while it is running.
I wouldn't recommend this at all.

I'm aware that the htc desire hd would probably be the best choice. But the thing is, I purschased the x10 while it was brand new for around 600£, so I'm not willing to pay for a new pricey high-end phone just yet. However, I thought that I would be able to find someone willing to swap my x10 for a hd2, one for one (I wouldn't lose more money, and I would still get a new experience with a new phone running 2.2).
And regarding the size I actually think the bigger the better (TWSS..).
Any ideas on how the two phones compare in raw hardware though?
why don't you just read the specs on gsmarena or something...
http://htcdesire-hd.blogspot.com/2010/09/desire-hd-free-map-app.html
look there, a hd2 is running the htc desire hd rom. It seems relatively stable!
HD2 is a good phone with no design. HTC is not a phone designer to me. I had it when it was running WM and then ported 2.1 and 2.2 and then I moved to X10. They are sort of stable but not flawless. Hd2 is sort of big and out of proportion. Hardware specs are good but if you are willing to spend the money and move to HTC(if design doesn't bother you) I recommend to wait for the HTC HD.
You have put-up with SE for a while and if you wait for a month or so you will have 2.1.
If you are a geek and like to flash new stuff twice a day and play with them with less battery, go for it or wait for something that at least is running android originally.
I really like the HD2 running winmo alone....would I trade my X10 for it? That would depend on how much better 2.1 is gonna be.....pretty much I'm down to the fact that 2.1 will make or break the X10 for a lot of people. If 2.1 isn't that much better even after this delay ill trade it in a heartbeat for an HD2..however if 2.1 proves to be worth the wait...HD2 can kiss my ass. As for the desire hd I think id give up my X10 and an HD2 for it...that thing is gonna be a beast!

Definitely not worth even if HD2 is loaded with Android as the hardware is not as good as X10 like the battery which is still on 1230mah lithium ion battery and HD2 is only using 5MP camera while HD2 is on 8.1MP camera.
Even though Desire HD is out, it is still using the same battery as HD2 so the battery life will only have slight improvement though it is using an improved processor chip which consume less battery power.
In terms of hardware specs or technology, HTC is no way better than SE.

But in terms of software and support they are much much better and ahead and i think the combination of good hardware and very good support and software is much better successful than good hardware and poor support and software update ... and X10 is not so good made and stuff... my 1st was crap and restarted itself all the time and from the store they had to change it with my 2nd one ... i hope it will be better this time ...and anyway its a hardware ... anything can go wrong aswell the x10, htc, samsung and every device in the market nothing is forever .... excluding my e51 ))))))
Why wouldn't you just trade it for a proper Android phone like the HTC Desire? Sell your X10, then buy a used Desire. Both phones should be worth about the same amount of money.

Get a milestone 2 that's going to be a better phone. I reckon anyway but always wait for at least a month after a new phone comes out. So you can see what is the best for your needs, I've learnt my lesson from x10.

You are right in some ways but you must remember that HTC provide firmware upgrade till a limit and basically those upgrades are to resolve those bugs which they have left out and not add in extra features.
I have used before HTC phones ranging from Diamond, Touch Pro, Diamond 2, Touch Pro 2 and finally HD2, it is a pain for every firmware upgrade as all my data will be gone and I have to backup before performing firmware upgrade. They should gather all the bugs or problems at one go and released one firmware instead of so many.
No matter how many firmware upgrades you have, the hardware limitation is there and this is a fact that you cannot do anything unless you change phone.
At least, I have a higher spec hardware and with software upgrade which is more flexible as you can add in extra features in the later part to enhance user's experience.
Basically, those are the different type of marketing strategy used by the two companies, end users have the choice to choose what phone to change or use and you have to try different brands of phones before you know each phone manufacturer's bad and good points.
Just sharing my experience as I have tried different phones before knowing which phone manufacturer suits me more and having better technology in their hardware.

For the moment because i cant afford other phone i`m sticking with my X10 but in the future maybe next year or so i`ll defenetly no gonna buy a Se product and i`ll go with HTC ...this is what i think for the moment But anyway lets get back to the topic i think android is better for now than wm6.5 but not x10 android ... )
I just bought an HD2 because I found it dirt cheap (Telstra edition, works in Canada), but I'll be keeping my X10 until I figure out which one suits my needs better... (And that 2.1 will be out) I'll then sell the phone that has the least potential. The NAND edition of Android is supposed to be released soon though and dual boot is a really nice option... So we'll see which one comes out on top!

[Q] is it still worth buying a HTC HD2 or shall i go for a Nexus One / S?

Hello people!
I definately need a phone, cause the Galaxy Tab is way too big for everyday mobile use! I'm very into android, cause i created some roms and mods and i heard that the HD2 is capable of running android directly in the NAND so this is pretty cool!
Technically the HD2 and the Nexus One are the same, but the HD2 is slightly cheaper in my area (350€ vs. 380€), so for what phone should i go? the Nexus S would be an option too but its overpriced ATM and isnt much faster than the Nexus One!
Is the HD2 Community dying out or is it still as active as in the time after release?
Is the Nexus the better choose, because of better support from google and the massive modding community?
Or is the Nexus S the best choose, cause its the newest one with a rapidly growing community?
The hd2 society is certainly live and kickin..- other threads to see for yourself.. I would go for hd2 as it gives u diversity of uses and choices... wm, android.. and ... its hd2 for gods sake

go for Nexus
You wouldnt like windows
Windows?... what windows?
Go for HD2,because it's capable of running android and boot android directly from Nand.another special option is you will be able to play with WP7.
Personally after having a play with a friends Galaxy S I would go for that, the screen is beautiful, unless the nexus also has AMOLED?, there are also plenty of cooked ROMS on here for the Galaxy S. Alternatively there are supposed to be some tegra 2 handsets coming along in q1, might be worth waiting a while.
I think if you already have a HD2, it's worthwhile to keep it as it offers a lot of possibilities but if you are buying new, I would suggest buying newer phones..
WM 6.5 OS is dead.

What has WM 6.4 got to do with the price of fish?
The HD2 can run Android by itself now, WM is out of the picture.
Put it this way, If my HD2 suddenly died I would still go out and but another over any current Android phone, simply because I love the design and also because of its versatility and specs.
I have choice of multiple OS's (which list is growing) so I can pick and choose whenever I see fit.

I would have agreed last week but I was shown the Galaxy S this weekend, Android looks **** hot with the AMOLED, i'm sold, Phone is fast and has TV out as well, some versions will eventually get HDMI output.. sold yet?
Buy the HD2, wait half an year and buy a new dual core phone with Hardware video chip.
HD2 is versatile, I like it and it got like a new phone after Android, but stil i think at the middle of next year we will be buying a new toy.
I'm fine with HD2 being versatile and all, I owned a HD2 myself.
Buying the HD2 now is kinda late for the party, you know what I mean.
And you never know when the developement and tinkering for HD2 stops or the next super star device comes along.
In fact, when the Nexus One came along, I would thought it will become a developer's device that offer much more possibilities. But i digress..
Go for hd2 again..

If you like modding, tweaking and running a whole bunch of OSes on one phone, get HD2.
But if you're that kind of user which want a phone to run great out of a box, get Nexus S.
Nexus One is almost identical compared to HD2 in terms of CPU, RAM. HD2 has bigger screen, no 720p recording and few other differences, but IMO 4,3", beautiful screen is more than enought to choose HD2 . Ah, and you have to have at least basic knowledge about tweaking phones to run Android from NAND (or simply put few folders on SD card and run Android from SD card).

What he said.
I love modding&tweaking business and HD2 is just great (kinda designed for it) for that purpose. Half a year of new builds and I'm not tired.
But now I'm in deep need for stable OS just for phone calls, and I'm considering same thing or switching to WM6.5 (God please save me from this evil thing) for good.
@Erq001
Szukasz stabilnego OSa? Nie kupuje WM.
Z drugiej strony HD2 jest całkiem porządnie zrobiony i jakoś wygląda.
However, if you'd ask the same question in the Nexus One forum, everybody would advice you to buy Google's phone

[Q] Mozart or not?

Hello all,
I have grabbed a deal on ebay for a brand new htc 7 mozart for 205 GBP.. the phone is locked to orange uk (i intend to unlock it).. is there any cons I should know about this phone? pls advice me asap!
Thanks!
Biggest cons for me:
Xenon flash obviously doesnt work when shooting video
Slippery as hell (look at my other topic about dropping it. I dropped this phone more than 10 other phones I owned)
Touch buttons for search/home/back suck. I dont know how often I already hit the touch search button and had to think of this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7GM4Lt5k24s
lol!! thx for the comment! so, do you think I should close the deal for that price or it doesn't worth the money? I wouldn't buy it for 400+ GBP that orange sells it, but for the half money I might do!
it is a good phone carmello, especially for that price. i'm using mozart over 2 months and (from hardware perspective) can't really blame it. whether or not wp7 will fit your needs/tastes is a different question...
basically if you feel confident getting a wp7 phone or want to give it a try in any case then mozart is a solid choice.
I am a pretty confident with wp7 because I've tried it before on my bricked focus! my concerns rely on htc's quality.. for me wp7 with nodo serves all my needs as what I seek is some time-wasting games (really liked xbox live), fast internet navigation, gps, office and some usefull apps.. and smoothness first of all! won't be a problem I guess to flash it with nodo as I read from other posts, right?
Cheers guys, appreciate it!
for less than 200 GBP I can find a new optimus 7 as well.. shall I choose that instead of mozart? any advice? pls?!

Even though the Xenon flash means you cant record video with light I would still go for the mozart above all phones for:
Looks, the body is sexy
Cam: 8Mpix instead of 5 and Xenon flash is great for pics (example) http://dl.dropbox.com/u/22045001/mozpic.jpg
Uniqueness -> You will hardly see anyone else with a mozart.
I would really suggest a good casing/cover/pouch though cuz im not kidding when I say its slippery, specially if you have dry hands (which I do)
I've had the Mozart since January, and imo it's an excellent little phone =)
I agree with the others, I have dropped it quite a few times already, but so far not even a scratch so it's pretty resilient!
One bonus of the Mozart is that you can upgrade the memory on it (have already fitted one with a 16gb card, will be putting a 32gb card in mine once hardware warranty has expired!) but can be a bit fiddly...
Only bad point I've found is it has a tendency to freeze, or simply lose sound until I turn off and on again! If it freezes, only option sometimes is to pop the battery out for a minute or two...
But, this seems to be happening less with NoDo, so hopefully with more updates it will become even more stable =D

I'd go with the Mozart. It has gorgeous looks and the camera is quite excellent. The Optimus seems to be a more popular phone but I think it feels awkward in the hand.
I agree that the Mozart is a bit slippery and I have dropped it loads of times and it is still in one piece unlike some of my friends iphones.
The only downside in my opinion is the screen, it has good viewing angles but has some colour banding. Not sure of the screen quality of the Optimus so can't compare them.
already got the mozart in my hands.. its really beautiful and not regretting it at all (not yet at least!), and it only cost me 171 GBP from ebay! I gues this thread might close now! thanks everyone for your help! really appreciate it!
btw, I had unlocked it so I can use an O2 sim card on it and connected it to zune twice so I got instantly the feb and march updates without any chevron unlocks or whatsoever!
You can get the mozart from cex for £195 with a years warranty
http://uk.webuy.com/search/index.php?stext=htc+mozart&ispostback=1&mode=buy
I paid £166 BNIB! that's a deal i think! Point is to be satisfied and cert ainly I am with my Mozart!

If you plan to use your phone as a music player, Mozart is arguably your choice over Optimus. And, as weird as it sounds, HTC is better than even Samsung in this area, while LG is subpar. I'm talking about WP7 devices here, obviously, not in general.
im so dumb i had to find out the meaning of subpar, typically state school education
