Hermes screen does not come on after a while... Plz Help

I am running windows mobile 6. Say after a while, the phones backlight and screen does not come on.. I have to restart the phone. The gsm light and the bluetooth light does blinks fine. Anyone know what's wrong??
I'm having the same problem exactly - but I'm running WM5 with the new Cingular 2.06 ROM. Anyone got an idea?
Thanks!
I have phased this problem today only and I'm running WM6
Search and read. There are several threads with in-depth discussion of these problems after flashing the test (Cing 2.06 or WM6) roms.
Tried the forums..
Well, the information you seek is already answered. Here is one of several returns I found when I searched the forums.

The link you posted does not work.. What did you search under??
8525 issue
I have had this same issue of my 8525 not 'waking' on both the WM5 and WM 6 on the original ROM and the more recent one from Cingular. I must soft reboot, this happens at least 1x/day sometimes more, and it is quite annoying. I never got this with my 8125. Any ideas?
i too had these screen locks with xda-live 0.20. Reverting to the cingular 2.06 rom actually resolved these issues for me. These issue for me were definately related to programs being installed on the SD card. While I relize that 2.06 has caused problems for others, for me, 2.06 is the most reliable rom. Sometimes my sd card still dissapears with 2.06, but it does not cause my whole pda to lock up and not wake up. Since I reinstalled 2.06, I had not been forced to soft-reset the phone due to a lockup.

After hours of digging through pages of forums and threads, I found 1 suggestion that applies to this exact problem:
Any program that appears on the "Today" screen should be installed into local memory - not a storage card. This seems to be especially true with some SPB products.
I never had this problem using my previous ROM, but tried this advice anyway. To my surprise, it seems to have worked. I used to soft-reset 3-4 times a day. I've now gone nearly 2 days without a single reset.
That one simple suggestion cost me 4 1/2 hours or scouring these forums. And people wonder why questions get re-posted??

Vario II fails to turn on 1 day after TNT WM6 upgrade!!

I've had a read through the forum, but cant seem to see anything that matches my problem. Apologies in advance if there was something which i missed. So here goes:
A friend of mine upgraded my Mda vrio II yesterday with the TNT Wm6 rom, its the one he uses, so I went with that. The upgrade went fine, and I actually quite liked the TNt rom as it was quite nippy. However, the next day I noticed a bug in it. It would reboot when I slided out the keyboard. I thought a hard reset would solve the problem, but it didn't. After the hard reset I slid out the keyboard to check if the problem was still there, and what do you know it went blank like usal...BUT instead of restarting, it just stayed blank and from then on it fails to start!! There seems to be no power at all. I tried to hard reset it again without any success. I connected the charger to see if the amber/green light comes on, but nothing happens.
Is there anything I can do to revive it? ANy help would be much appreciated.
ANy one have nay suggestions?
Dead battery?
Nope..its not a dead battery. I tried my mates working battery..and its still dead!!
Any more suggestions?
Reflash with a different ROM or a ROM you know works. If you still have issues then its probably a hardware problem of some sort with the keyboard.
WB
I would reflash if i could...but the phone doesn't even start up. I connected it to to my computer usb to see if i can connect via active sysnc, but nothing. Seems like its totally dead.
Sorry, missed the point about you not being able to switch it on.
Have you tried taking the battery out and leaving the phone without a battery overnight to see what happens? Might just work.
There was a debate on here a while back about being able to power a phone from the charger without the battery in it. Clutching at straws really but search around to see if you can find that thread. I guess if you can get power to the phone then you can look at other options like a reflash, if you suspect the rom.
Don't know what else to advise, I'm afraid. Hopefully someone will come along soon with a gem of an answer.
Good luck.
WB
Wacky - I've left the battery out of the phone for couple of hours but not overnight..something to try I guess. As for the charger being able to power the phone on...ill try that as well.
I just can't understand how the TNT rom can mess up a phone to the point where it doesn't start up when it installed successfully, or supposedly installed successfully in this case. I wonder if anyone else who installed TNT had a similar problem..hmm. I cant even seem to find the tnt thread to check..lol.
Bummer! I have had the TNT V2.0 for about 8 weeks with no major lockups or hard resets. I did not notice any problem posts on 'its rights' TNT thread like yours 'pulling out the keyboard'. This is one of the best Roms that I have flashed (I have the Hermes 8525 not the MDA).

Are these problems common?

Hi all,
I have Qtek S200 (Prophet).
I tried several WM6 ROMs, but all attmpts ended with following problems:
- after few soft resets the machine starts forgetting e-mail accounts
- the same time BT problem apears, all pairings are gone and are not saved anymore
- the problem appears sometimes directly after the flash, sometimes it can hold correct state for 2 weeks, but no version is stable in long time
- if I unlock ExtROM I have it with name like "Extrom2", so all apps which you cook to be at Extended ROM do no work
Currently I had to go back to WM5, because I need the BT and e-mail.
Am I doing something wrong, or it is common problem? How should I solve this?
thanks
Jaba

Yes I did
But any of proposed solutions like hard power off or email recovery program does not solve it.
Hard power off is instead of "saving" data generating the problem with 100% "success".
I did not find any other solution .... just something like "you are using it at your risk, nothing is guaranteed"
I cope with this ... but I'm sure I'm not the only one, who has the problem. Maybe someone had realy invented something ....
I'm also trying to provide the clue: Extended ROM is in my case renamed to "ExtRom2". Why?
Maybe the Extended ROM changed name can cause the data are not saved?
If there is no solution, I will accept it.
that's ALL
thanks

you do now that you generally should NOT use the stylus to reset the device? That causes these errors..

Nice advice, but my dear machine has tendency to reset itself occasionally with no reason. WOW ... here it comes.
It's not so often, but even one self-reset in 2 weeks is enough to make problems.
Do you have any clue, if WM 6.1 solved this?
My personal opinion is that it can have also link to "forgetting" PIN password with reset. The mechanism is the same. After reset some data are lost.
Or it can be connected to renamed Ext rom? I'm able to many tweaks with WM, but this one is out of my reach.
You know ... I'm looking for real solution rather than for workarround like "do not reset it"
Maybe nobody knows... Than OK. But let's to say it clearly.
If there is no known fix, the WM6 on Prophet are unsable for real life, maybe it can work as a gadget to play with
thanks

Let start by telling I don't have a solution either, sorry.
But... I can't remember encountering this problem of spontanious resets, nor have I red about someone else suffering from it. Perhaps you are looking in the wrong direction by pointing to WM6 in general as the cause of your missery. Perhaps you should have a closer look at your hardware. Just a suggestion.
As for the gadget part. I am using WM6 for almost a year now, even for proffesional (PDA, GPS and email) use, and it haven't failed me more then the original WM5 ROM. Perhaps I'm one of the lucky few, who will tell...?

I suppose, this is not matter of HW. Under WM5 there are no self-resets. They appeared as I begun to try WM6. When I reflashed back to WM5, it's stable again.
But this topic satified my hunger for information
There is no hope for me to have stable Prophet with WM6. I will stay with WM5 and start save money for new toy.
thanks for response

[Q] Yet another Wifi problem....

Hi there,
Long time lurker. I'm no programmer and so thought I'd have nothing usefull to say aside from inane comments about upcoming projects just creating more mess to read through.
So now is my time to shine, well, what i mean is ask you guys for help. so here goes.
Firstly I'd like to make it clear this problem occurs when my phone is unplugged from usb...
Ok so every time i flash something to my phone, (either a rom or a radio) my Wifi will work just fine for around a day, and then packs up. It greys out, and on the comm manager screen it will not switch back on. Hd2 thinks about it for a few seconds, and then gives up. I've gone to every single settings page where turning Wifi on is an option, and still it lies there dead. Just to clarify, I'm not turning Wifi on and not finding any networks, or only certain networks,,, the adapter simply will not turn on.
If common sense serves me well, this feels like something is messing with my radio rom after installation. The same happens when booted into android, so i don't think it's an OS issue.
I've tried as many different Rom and Radio combinations as i feel is necessary to figure out that I need to ask you guys.
Any help would be highly appreciated as I love this phone (got it a couple of weeks ago) and even enjoy trying to figure out all the problems it seems plagued with but just can't figure this one. I live in england a bought a TMOUS on ebay so that's my model.
P.S I searched and searched and searched before posting and only found one other thread with this problem but it never really came to fruition.
Many thanks in advance,, Babble over.

[Q] Touch Screen Lockup.PLEASE HELP!

Hi, im having a MAJOR problem with my HTC HD2. Every time i lock the phone, and turn it back on with the End button the touchscreen locks up and does not work. sometimes it goes on for hours, Unless i take out the battery which is getting quiet annoying..
I think its the New T-mobile Update, or could it be the HSPL? my friend said its software issues but im just not quiet sure, please help me!
DONT REPLY TO THIS THREAD, Instead, Reply here where me and others will post our ROM, Radio, and HSPL version.:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=841505
I had to send mine into HTC, and this is becoming a problem for many now, and it looks like it's growing. Try waking up with any other button besides the end key after a hard reset or battery pull, this is a temp fix at best, but occasionally it will still freeze. If under warranty I would suggest sending it in under repair and not mess with the new T-mobile update.
What am i supposed to do? Im using my Motorola RAZR until i find a fix or get a new phone which will be a very long time.
Hey,
I had the same issue, we should start tracking it so we find out a common problem, Try posting your HSPL version, rom, and radio in this forum and we can see if we can find a common solution.
