I have been having this problem of stylus keep falling off from the silo.
Does anyone know how to fix it??

I don't know the solution (never needed it) but i remember seeing posts with tips when i registered last year. You must make a more extensive search
I put a piece of scotch tape around mine and I've had no problems since I did that. One wrap around was enough to keep it snug - right in the middle of the stylus.

yeah, i find that the scotch tape trick works perfect. i put it right around the "neck" of the stylus - that would be nearest to the gray head part.

I've read on a website, don't have any link anymore, that if you will turn your mobile on the back, and remove your battery, there will be 2 openings where you can see some steel. If you take some sort of pen, or mini-screwdriver you can push against it, and when it clicks, your stylus must be a little tighter in his case. Didn't test it, because i lost my stylus because of the same problem

yeah me too did it last year in sep2007.my kjam since then works well & i haven`t lost any thing up to date.
precaution- there are some plastic parts so pls be carefull
Solution to stylus falling out
I bought some sticky tack (you can get it at office supply stores) and placed a small amount in the channel. That seems to hold my stylus in with no problems.
Tape option is the best. I lost two stylus due to falling stylus and this time I put a small amount of tape on the outer edge and its perfectly fit in the phone. No more falling stylus.
I opened the phone, added a drop of hot-glue behind the little plastic pin and it holds the stylis like it was new.
The same trick I also applied to my universal, only there I added a bit to much, and the stylus now doesn't come out easily, so I need to use a little more force.

OK, I've gone and done a embarrasing thing ;o)
had the top of the stylus bit unscrewed. put the bottom bit in the holder on XDA, and it appears to have dropped down!
no amount of prising with screwdriver etc can get it out ;(
Any suggestions for how to get it out?
Disassemble etc?

I did the same thing, I got a small jewellers screwdriver and pushed it down while exerting pressure to one side, it took a few pulls but it got there gradually. The best thing would be if you can find something longer than the top part of the stylus with the same thread and screw that in, since it happened to me I went to a local engineering place and they sold me a piece of threaded bar that does the trick.

its just, i was looking at the XDA internals photos, and there doesn't seem to be a proper seperator?

I used the plastic top of a 3 in one stylus I bought (and discovered was a lot of rubbish because the reset pin was too big) and trimmed down the plastic, attached it to a piece of tube, and stuck it in, screwed it onto the bit in there and pulled it out.
ruined a stylus though.

Same thing happened to me: I just gently banged the tip of the antenna on the table. Dropped right out. But then maybe my stylus holder has become quite loose...

I bought the XDA IIs from a friend of mine in the U.K a month ago.
Everything works fine except that the STYLUS DOES NOT LOCK on to the groove provided behind the phone.
No matter how hard I push in it just would lock!!!
It was locking fine just an hour ago!!
After I charged the XDA IIs through a hotsync cable this problem seems to have arised.
Is there anything I can do at home to rectify the problem.
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE HELP!!!
P.S - I have tried with a new pair of styli though and even they wouldn't lock in.!!!

AND leads to a form of exercise too... :wink:
The only drawback being while typing multiple letters get punched & b'comes a pain to delete them all :evil:

I have this same problem but I just bought more replacement syluses and also make sure the device is in the normal position when I am wearing it.

what i did is open the back housing, put rubber sticker inside the place where stylus stay. now is tighter than before.

same problem, but realy easy to fix.
You have to use insulating tape (sorry, i don't know if this is the correct english name. This tape is used for insulating two elettrical wires connected togheter.)
So, you have to cut about 4mm x 1.5cm of this tape and then you have to turn around it on the top of your stylus.
This will produce a little gain of soft thickness right in the place where the stylus is in contact with your PDA.
My stylus slot was broken about one year ago: i used this insulating tape, and i have never lost my stylus.
follow some pictures... i have used white insulating tape in order to produce cleat photos: of course, you have to use black tape, as you can see in the last picture

I think it depends on the thickness of the insulating tape used, but I have found that I needed to cut the tape a bit shorter, for the stylus to fit. So it is worth experimenting on this.
I am guessing that the glue might soften in very hot weather, causing the tape to slide a bit, and make a bit of a mess, but this seems a minor problem compared to having to open uo my Blue Angel, which I reluctant to try. One can always clean up and use a fresh bit of tape.
I dare say it might be handy if manufacturers could perhaps produce stylus' in a way that overcomes this problem. One stylus I have seen has a small, rear springed, ball bearing inset on one side of it which would solve this problem. Unfortunately they do not seem to do these with the Blue Angel pecs in mind though.

This was suggested a while back (in fact, there was something about this in the wiki). For the most part, the section of the casing in charge of holding the stylus in place gets warped/cracked from use. Making the body of the stylus thicker allows the center to be locked rather than the top. Not sure about the glue, but for this to go bad, temps have to be rather high...
Instead of wrapping tape around your stylus, you can also take a 4x6mm piece of soft rubber and stick it inside the housing just behind the hook which should hold the pen.
You need 1,5mm material, if the hook is still there and you just want to improve the tightnes of your clasp, and 3-4mm if it is gone.
edit: replaced the missing clasp by using some piece of nylon- attached pic shows where i've taken it from. Glued this tiny part into the bay of the broken clasp and placed some mossrubber behind it as described above.
Works really good, and no tape smearing around in your housing
(Note: don't use cyanacrylate, it's like cancer to our housing...)
Hey guys and girls. I have a 8525 and the tip of the stylus broke off my phone while I was trying to remove it. Now the stylus is stuck in the phone and I need assistance in removing it without opening the phone.
Remember only the plastc tip on the end broke off. I tried tweezers but they were too large. Suggestions please.
Try an unfolded paperclip. If you can see the tip but still can't get it out, I would try some superglue on the end of the paperclip and put it on the tip until it sets...

I agree that a spot of superglue on the end of something is probably the way. Though personally I'd take the back off to remove it. I think a paperclip might be too thin and a bit hit or miss - but if you are not short of time then maybe you can spend the day fishing for it!!.
Just so we know where it is lodged - it is stuck in the white clip in these pictures (taken from another thread with a slightly different purpose).

One thing you MUST avoid if you use a spot of superglue on a rod of some sort is hitting the rubber block on the way up the silo. If you touch that with superglue it will stick fast and will likely unstick the block if you try to pull it out again. If you use this technique it would be VITAL to keep the rod you are inserting against the back side of the slot to avoid hitting the rubber block.

Okay guys. Thanks for the advice. I'll let you know my results. Also only the tip of the stylus broke so I don't have to worry about the rubber pad. In fact, the rubber pad is what is keeping the stylus in the phone because I could never get a good enough grip to get past it.

.... and I had misunderstood! I thought it was just the little greyish pointing tip that was stuck in the slot. Obviously the part that came off was at the opposite end. Not that it matters now

Mine broke like that on my old wizard, and the broken off plastic was still inside the stylus body, so there was nothing to grip. It was still in warranty, and I didnt want to have to send it off, so I had to drill into the stylus, and then stuck a small screwdriver through the hole and worked it out.

Finding a drill long and skinny enough to accomplish that must have been difficult. Granted I also have a Wizard (8125) and the stylus opening is slightly more accessible. I think that is a great option if it occurs again.
this happened to me on the same exact phone.. I used a paperclip and a lighter.. I heated up the paperclip with the lighter then pushed it into the plastic that was left in the broken end in the phone.. waited a few moments for the paperclip to cool down then simply pulled it out.

well i guess it a issue ..8525 so i found easy way a toothpick fits righ in and conforms to the shape...
This is my first review, so I hope it doesn't suck.
Both my wife and I have the Tilt 2. I decided to go with InvisibleShield while she wanted a case. After looking at all the comments here about cases not fitting, I decided to go with 2 different ones from Amazon. One fit horribly, so i wont even mention it.
She is using the Tilt2 Praetorian Slip and she loves it. Installation was a little tough as the fit is pretty precise. I suggest installing the top (screen) side first and then the bottom (keyboard). Install both with the KB extended. I have attached pics of the fit.
The only complaint I have (she thinks of it as a feature) is that the cover makes it a little more difficult to slide out the keyboard. She like it because it used to slide open in her purse (mostly because of the fact that she keeps it in an inside pocket of her purse which causes it to hit just right against crap she has in another pocket). Overall, this is a pretty nice cover. I am sure you can get it cheaper than amazon, but I had gift certificates to spend

Thanks for the review! I bought the same case a few months ago, although it was advertised as for the Verizon Touch Pro 2. I was unaware they made one for the Tilt 2. Now I won't have to worry about it falling off randomly!

Neat.. glad yours fit. I ordered one for the Tilt2 from Amazon as well, and Boxwave sent one labeled 'Touch Pro 2'. I see yours doesn't have a cutout area for the PTT button either, do you have issues with that? My praetorian case would almost always trigger the PTT button whenever I handled the phone.
The top/screen portion of my Praetorian didn't fit right and opening and closing the top was almost impossible - even ended up ripping off the protective plastic along one side of the keyboard. (the protective plastic that is designed to be there, not the temporary stuff it whipped with) I can see just by looking at your pictures that your screen portion fits waay better than mine did.
When I contacted Boxwave about the issues, no questions asked and they sent a postage paid label for the return. I'd love to try this case again, as I did like the feel of it, but nervous about another no-fit. I went with BodyGuardz instead.. not sure I'm happy with those..

Man, sorry you had so many issues. The PTT button is indeed covered, but she has had no issues with it at all (hers is remapped to toggle bluetooth on and off). The fit on the screen portion is *very* tight. Took some effort to get it installed properly.
Also, mine definitely said "Tilt 2" on the packaging.
It is disappointing that it covers the PTT button. I assume your wife has abandoned that function (easily switching BT on/off)?
Thanks for posting reviews on this case -- I'm trying to decide what route to take to give my new Tilt 2 some added protection, and more importantly, cut down on the slickness/smudge magnet-ness of the shiny battery cover (which is my #1 gripe with the GSM TP2, both CDMA versions have rubberized covers which won't fit their GSM siblings due to the placement of the 3.5 mm jack).
I really wish someone made a rubberized battery cover to replace the shiny OEM one. These snap on type cases are okay, but they become a major pain as soon as you need to pop off the battery cover in order to flash a new ROM (as I do often), reset the device, or swap out memory cards. I worry trying to snap-in and pry off these cases frequently will damage the phone -- especially when it's a super snug fit. IMHO, a rubberized battery cover, along with perhaps the upper portion of this case to protect the chrome bezel from getting nicked would be an ideal solution! I may just go down to Home Depot this weekend and see if they have a spray that can rubberize plastic, then I might just buy a spare OEM battery cover and see if I can rubberize it.

Nope, the PTT button still works perfectly under the cover. Does not get accidentally pressed and is responsive when you push it.

Sounds like skinning/shielding your phone with GadgetShieldz might be the way to go. The GadgetShieldz does take a little time to install but it works. The protective film on the screen is easy to install and bubble free. It makes the phone non-slippery. It would not protect the phone like a case but it does prevent scratches. When installed, it adds very little weight and dimension to the phone.
Actually, there are other protective films/shields but I only have experience with GadgetShieldZ. It might work for you.

Just to report on this, I got one of these in the mail yesterday. So far I love it. It wasn't terribly difficult to get on. It fits very well too. My only real complaint is that it doesn't accommodate the PTT button that the Tilt 2 has right next to the volume buttons. It's not a big issue since I don't use PTT and the case doesn't prohibit using the key anyway.
Just be careful and make sure you order the one that specifically says it's for the Tilt 2. They make other models. I know they have the Praetorian on eBay but to be safe I opted to get mine directly from Boxwave. I got what I ordered too and could have used they're return policy if I needed.
Oh...I'll be happy to post pics if anyone wants but I think someone already put some up of this one a Tilt2.

I wish I'd seen your post sooner! Home Depot and Lowe's does indeed have something like that. I'm sure lots of hardware stores do. It's called Plasti-Dip. I have a can right here You can buy it as spray-on or dip/brush-on applications. I use it on mountain bike parts and tools for extra grip. I'm not positive how well it will stick to a slick plastic surface but it is an option.

I ordered one from BoxWave and I think I'm still going to shop around for something else. It seems like the Tilt2 has less options than the other variations of the Rhodium so people may just be settling for this due to "Slim Pickin's."
I like the way the gel gives more texture and grip to the phone, but I still feel uneasy because it's definitely not a snug fit. The part that covers the screen section of the phone is very flimsy and after you get it on, you want to keep checking it to make sure that it is attached; it feels like it can easily slip off at any time. This is specifically evident when you slide your screen up and tilt it. Tap the top right, or the middle section that really has no grip around the phone, and it might just pop off...
I still have it on my phone because it is the lesser of two evils, have something vs. not having something, but are there any other options for the Tilt2?

It's held up quiet nice...even with as much flashing I do (have to remove the bottom piece every time). I've figured out a great way to put it back on that's really fast and easy. Some people say it's difficult to get on. I think the top piece is the hard part but I've taken it off a few times and have no issues there either. It still fits good. If I remember, next time I take it off I'll shoot some pics of how I put it on and upload them.

I like the way the gel gives more texture and grip to the phone, but I still feel uneasy because it's definitely not a snug fit. The part that covers the screen section of the phone is very flimsy and after you get it on, you want to keep checking it to make sure that it is attached; it feels like it can easily slip off at any time. This is specifically evident when you slide your screen up and tilt it. Tap the top right, or the middle section that really has no grip around the phone, and it might just pop off...
I still have it on my phone because it is the lesser of two evils, have something vs. not having something, but are there any other options for the Tilt2?

I haven't really had any trouble with mine popping off. It took a bit to get the top on right and it was a pretty snug fit too. Getting the corner edges all the way tucked under was the hardest part. I'm guessing it's a manufacturing thing. Some say it's a tight fit and other say it's loose. I will agree that the sides on the top piece are flimsy because they're not attached the the phone but if they were it would probably make matters worse by either rubbing against the bottom piece or creating too big of a gap between the two parts of the phone.
I agree there aren't many options for the Tilt 2 and I hate to say it but there probably won't be.

If yours is a snug fit, I wonder if we received the same thing! Did you order from BoxWave? I have a little plastic tool that I used to get the corners onto the top half quickly which was actually made to fit into the creavice of a HTC Dash phone to pop the clips and take the phone apart. It works great and I can see the little flaps around the corner so you can tell the corners of the phone are between the gel lips.. It's still too easy to come off though..

Do you remember if yours said the same? Maybe they somehow shipped me the wrong one?

Yeah I got mine directly from boxwave. They have like 3 different models of that slip. Most of the adds I saw on Amazon and eBay claimed it would fit on 3 or 4 different TP2 models which I knew it wouldn't. I emailed boxwave about the pics in their online catalog because it didn't look like a Tilt 2 to me and they admitted it wasn't. They said they didn't have one for the pics. Which made sense I mean why spend that much just to get pics but they promised it would fit so I figured what the hell. The hard covers kinda suck.

I just got the unbranded version of this case off ebay (the seller's id was e-story).
It's not too bad on my unbranded TP2. It's slightly more difficult to slide out the keyboard, and when the screen is fully tilted, the top row of keys are slightly obscured, but nothing too major in my opinion.
I like that the case improves the grip of the phone, but I'm also rather concerned that the case will eventually melt under hotter conditions since the material feels rather gummy.
I read a lot of reviews about this case , but not a single review that pointed out a serious problem with this case.

I bought this case cover so I'll have some peace of mind, not fearing that my tablet would fall and break .
I put it over the tablet and it looked great , it felt like it would defiantly keep my note pro 12.2 safe .
BUT, I started noticing that the screen became less responsive to the touch , AND also the pen started to put out some deformed lines.
Around the middle of the screen, strait lines that i drew with the pen became curved , i tried to draw a box and could not get the line strait until i moved the canvas to the side of the screen.
After reading what other reviewers said , I guessed this was something to do with the plastic screen protector part of the case.
So i removed the plastic cover, the screen became more responsive to the touch as before, BUT!!! it changed nothing for the stylus accuracy.
I started putting lines all over my screen and i found out a 1\4inch dead-spot around the home button , the pen could not draw in that area , it just carved around it. This curvature was going through to some extent all the way to the middle of the screen , and was the reason for the strait lines becoming curved .
I thought that maybe it was something with the home button.
IT was Not!
The problem was the strong magnet at the back of the case, the same magnet that holds the hide-away stand in place.
as soon as i completely removed the cover , things went back to normal , and i could draw strait lines once again.
I don't know if having a constant magnetic field could permanently harm my wacom digitizer in the screen.
But since i bought the tablet for art making , it was useless if it don't have good pen accuracy.
If you Buy this Cover for the note, and plan to use it with the s-pen, then forget about it !

No, you're not. Most cases have this problem. In fact I was quite surprised to find that the Samsonite flipcover I bought recently didn't interfere with the Wacom sensors.
The magnetic field doesn't harm the Wacom digitizer. The problem is just that the Wacom digitizer also uses magnetics, and two magnets don't exactly work very well together.
There is no material that can block magnetic fields, so you can't solve it with a simple strip of fabric. (Although a strip of velvet or leather tends to help somewhat) You can try to cut out the magnet.
Something to know: There are two versions of magnetic systems in covers:
> The cheap, generic solution. Which is a single, relatively strong, magnet This causes problems with Wacom digitizers. It also causes problems with the tablets shutting off on their own for no reason.
> The more high-end brands use a different system, of a long magnetic strip or line. The overall magnetic strength is identical, but it is spread out enough so as to not interfere with the digitizers and sensors. My Samsonite apparently has this. (I emailed them.)

Actually, I asked an Amazon Q&A question about it and everyone who answered were too dumb to notice the magnet affecting the pen input. After I provided instructions to prove the problem exists, the price dropped from about $60 to $30. Man I don't get people. I am 100% sure everyone's Gumdrop has this issue, yet people are oblivious about it. Either they don't use the pen or they don't bother actually checking for the problem.

I guess most of them use the stylus as a finger replacement rather then a drawing tool.
