Just curious if anyone has any of these and how well they work. Best Buy, for instance, has the Sony MEXBT2500 for about $185 which doesn't seem like a bad price for it. Actually it seems like a really good price for a head unit with BT built in instead of requiring an additional adapter (that is nearly $200 by itself). I mean, BB kind of sucks but there are plenty of places who will price match and offer somewhat better service.
I've been using the MEXBT5000 (the 2500's predecessor) since January. It's the best BT unit of any kind I've ever used - its phone performance is better than any headset I've used, and the A2DP performance is equally good. I'd expect the 2500 to perform just as well, if not better.
Note that the 2500 doesn't have preouts, which may be a factor if your car has a premium sound system.
Damn, I knew that was too good to be true. Who the hell makes a premium radio like this and leaves off something as important as the preamp outs? Sony apparently. Yeesh. Well, that officially prices most of them out of my price range I suppose. No way am I paying $500 to get one.

Then you will need an adapter to convert the speaker level output of the radio to something the amps on the speakers can handle. Generally speaking, though, when you install an aftermarket stereo into a system with a premium factory radio like that, you have to bypass the factory amps and run off the radio's speaker level outputs.
You could always wait a little bit, and buy a new car. Ford is coming out with the "SYNC" system that does a whole lot more than let you stream...

No offense but I've had it with American cars. When they build something reliable then maybe I will buy one but for the time being my '93 Infiniti J30 with 170K miles on it is far more reliable and will probbably outlive any US made car out there.

Haha. I think I'd rather pass on that. It would be much cheaper to buy an aftermarket stereo and pretty much guaranteed to be better quality too. OEM stereo system = teh suck. The premium ones are okay, but even they get their butts handed to them by a decent quality aftermarket setup.
I have tried to use the A2DP feature with the Sony MEXBT2500 with some luck, but with some problems.. There was an awful high pitch tone that comes thru the speakers when you stream audio via bluetooth to the head unit. I managed figure out that it depends on the Rom version of WM6 that I was using.. The best sound quality I got was from Nstefanelli's WM6 version...

I've been using Plantronics Pulsar 590A for some time and they have worked flawlessly. Good sound and I can easily go into another room still with good sound and no interruptions.
Yesterday I tried the Sony DR-BT20NX and was really disappointed. Excellent sound but the sound dropped when I turned my back or held it behind my back. Tried it with both the Tytn and the Qtek 9100 with the same result.
Just add to the list, it would be nice to know in advance which headsets work well with the Tytn

Design: Ok, however one "ear" flashes blue while in use. Makes you look like something from star trek...

Reception: Extremely bad. Can not even put it in my front pocket without the sound dropping
Talk: Didn't even try. The reception was so bad these were not an option.
Design: Excellent. Looks good and you just put the strap around your neck. While not in use there are small straps for holding the plugs in place so the cable doesn't get tangled.
I really like the Jabra 8010. The hook is flexible and adjustable. It's taken awhile for me to get used to it though. I've worn a Jabra 250v forever. It has a small cord that goes around the back of the neck that hooks onto the headset on the other ear. You can use mono or stereo.
I use it/them with the HTC 8525. It brought out volume issues with the phone that I didn't know I had though. Searching, reading and people on this forum helped me get those issues fixed and now everything works perfectly.

I'll cast my vote for the Plantronics 590. Phenomenal with the latest A2DP and hardcore's tuning tips. Never a skip and the battery life is incredible!

I agree on the Plantronics 590. They really raised my expectations, I thought all headsets were equally good which I have found out they are not.
Has anyone tried Motorola S705? They seem really awesome with lcd display, 3,5 mm jack (you can use your own headphones), radio, good battery life (better than with the Sony ones according to a forum I read) and BT class 1 instead of 2 which gives them a theoretical range of 100m instead of 10m which is standard. A little bigger than many but I am really tempted giving them a shot.

I think (and someone please correct me if I'm wrong on this) that both the BT transmitter and the BT reciever need to be Class 1 to get the kind of ranges that they state for Class 1 devices. I don't know of any current phones and only a few USB dongles that are Class 1. Class 1 devices are also more power hungry.

I highly recommend the blueant ones (X5?). I have them and then another three friends bought them. It also comes with a 3.5mm transmitter so you can use it with your PC/ipod,etc.

I'm really not looking for a device that has 100 m range, but I figure that if it has that kind of range having the phone in your front pocket or moving around in the apartment should be no problem.
Btw. The Plantronics also come with a 3,5 mm transmitter so it can be used for pretty much everything.
The Motorola set does not come with a transmitter but you can buy one separately. If you buy one you can pair it to the phone and another source at the same time. For example, if you are streaming music from your computer and you receive a call, the music mutes and the device switches to your phone.

I think the pricier ones are a really good buy since you can use them with all equipment imaginable. Forgot to mention that they also come with a regular cable so if you are out of battery or sitting on a plane you can use them without bluetooth.

Saw these in a swedish shop. They are from Korea and I haven't heard of them before. They were charged and I got to try them out. The sound was good but a little low on base. They were really small and I like the way they look, although the shiny front seems to smudge easily. All controls worked like a charm and I could put them in my pocket and walk around the store without any interruptions. Maybe not hifi but the were quite cheap, the store price was 700 SEK (or about 100 $). I'm thinking of going back later this week and test the call quality. Found a website with the specs here:

I have a Nokia HS-12W as well as a HTC BH S100 and both work well on the latest WM6 ROMS.
I use the Schap's ROM without any reg edits.
The advantage of the HTC is that it has a 3.5mm jackplug on the earphone side so you can attach your favourite earphones.
The sound of the Nokia blows away my IPod. Deep base and rich treble.
The range on both are about 10 to 15 meters in an unrestricted enviroment.
The Nokia costs about twice as much as the HTC in South Africa.
I can recommend both of these Stereo BT Headsets.

Well...I bought my R35 off of Ebay and I'll say that I'm a happy customer. Sounds great to me with Sleuth's WM6 LVSW variant, A2DP skip fix, and seems to hold a charge for a decent amount of time before needing recharging. I would say that they are not very good at the telephony part however...whenever I answer or make a call with them...I always get complaints about sound from the other party. They do work with WMP for what it's worth though. I'd say they are a worthy A2DP investment especially if you have a favorite pair of headphones already...
I have some Logitech BT head phones but they are just too big/bulky for jogging, gym, etc. I was thinking how nice it would be to have my phone in my gym bag and the little R35 clipped on!

These are not stereo though...
I bought the Pulsar 260 since the Pulsar 590A have worked really well. At first I was quite disappointed but I then upgraded my rom to LVSW and the sound was dramatically improved. Some slight background noice but nothing big. Controls work well and the range is fantastic. Also no interruptions yet.
The only thing that irritates me is the cable length. You can easily clip it to your belt and so if you hang it around the neck there is a lot of cable dangling around. The sound during calls where adequate but my girlfriend said there was a little squeking noice every time I stopped talking and it was a little irritating. This was with the old rom and I have not yet tested call quality with the new rom. I will report back on that.
Edit: The call quality is adequate and the sound did improve with the new rom. The squeking sound is gone, only a little static left but nothing much.

I got one on sale from Radioshack for $40 bucks I believe a while back. I've heard that some of the units have problems retaining battery but I have no problems with my unit. I get really great sound and reception in my 3 bedroom house. Callers can hardly tell that I am not speaking directly into my phone and its comfy too.

ive been using them since January, they have a massive battery life and work really well once you get your device streaming ad2p. the sound is quite good considering the price (i paid $50AUD via ebay) theres some threads on updating the firmware but it wont work on the A model which i think is usualy the only type you get from Ebay these days. RRP was something like $120AUD which will get you the later versions.
the only 1 downside ive found is even when the headphones are switched off the battery will go flat in a day or so without charge, i just leave them on charge overnight then use them to and from work the next day.
i guess the only other side note is the size, they are a little bulky but the sound is the best part of them.
all in all a decent pair of headphones considering you will pay the same price for an official corded handsfree.

I bought a pair the other day after my Sony DR-BT30QB set broke. Seeing as i only payed £17.99 + p&p for my sony ones, and the price has since gone up about 200% since, i decided to buy the HT820 when i spotted them for only £14.99 + p&p. The first thing i noticed was the quality of the sound is no where near as good as i had come to expect. However after using them for 12+ hours a day (thats non-stop) for listening to Radio 1 streamed via the internet to my office PC i've gotten used to it. The battery life is awesome as you might have guessed. I've not noticed them discharging while not in use but i charge them before every use anyway. Although i use them with my Vario II and an audio transmitter i don't use them much for calls so i can't comment on what i mic is like. Also i've never been on the receiving end of a call made using them. Some people complain of pain above the ears because of the way they sit on your head. I'm completely used to that as well now.
I have been using these for about 5 months myself and I really like them. The audio quality is very nice, as is the volume and bass. I do not have the problem of the battery discharging overnight (you may want to look into warranty replacement for that).
I really like that when talking on the phone with them, audio comes through both earphones and helps isolate you from outside noise. No one I have spoken to has complained about problems with my mic, and pick up seems to be good, even when I am speaking at lower volume in a noisy public place. They do not have noise cancellation though, so sometimes I do find it hard to talk on the phone with them (while walking near a busy street)
One other neat thing about them is that you can plug in a regular 3.5mm cord and use them with non-bluetooth devices in a pinch.
Finally, the radio on them is very strong and I rarely get any interference, even when moving 20+ ft away from my device, through walls.
I recently compared them with the newer MOTOROKR S9 unit, and there is no comparison. These are, hands down, superior.
I've had two different pairs and i think these headphones really suck.
I paid $130 cad for them and was really disapointed. The suond is really flat, there's no bass, the sound is really uncrisp and they're soo bulky.
One upside is that the battery lasts forever. They've been sitting behind my monitor here for a long long time, they're so terrible.
I know the problem isn't my phone because i plugged them into the computer's soundcard and had the same terrible --no wait-- devastating sound.
I give them a 2/10
Anyway, you want bluetooth headphones, go Motorola S9. That headset knows what the true meaning of true, clean, crisp bass/treble is. Plus, they're light weight.

also, i see conflicting info on g1 specs. some say bt v1.0 and other say v 2.0 and still other sites say that firmware upgrade is needed to support bt 2.0.
i dont care what i have to do, but my goal is not only to enjoy streaming music via orb and my home server but also streams from wolfgangs vault with a sound i can deal with. rite now its too sloppy and retarded that it plays thru speaker instead of my current bt headset. found this out the hard way while utubing at work. oops, my bad boss
Prices are not good. The one headset I can recommend wholeheartedly is the Motorola S9. They are fantastic for sports and/or working out.
Here's the thing. The S9's on the site are the old model and they're charging $70 not including shipping. The new ones are the S9-HD's. They have builtin SRS WOW technology and the sound quality is excellent. Best Buy has them for $99 in the store.
If you want the S9s cheap then Ebay is the way. If it was me, I'd be all over the S9-HDs.

S9s are sweet, but only if you have a tiny head. They're not adjustable. And eBay is definitely the way to go...as long as you're cautious. There are lots of Chinese knock-off S9 headsets.
I'm also anxiously awaiting A2DP for the G1. Right now using the 3.5mm adapter which is not bad for being able to answer phone calls while listening to music during my commute.

I have a Logitech Mini Boombox, which costs about the same, but is much better looking.
Can't really compare the sound quality of course, as I don't have the Monster, but the Logitech is very good.

I have 2 monster ClarityHD bluetooth speakers. I highly recommend them to anyone looking for a bluetooth speaker. I've owned a jambox too I returned it cause it was too quite. The monster is louder than the jambox after a firmware update to the jambox, you can disable the feature of the new update but you sacrafice quality for loudness.
Amazon has the ClarityHD for $49.99 right now. Very tempted to get one.

I use the iHome iDM12 bluetooth portable. It just fits in my pocket while I'm at work. (I have loose pockets, wouldn't work in jeans). Its got exceptional sound for such a small package. Sure they pander to Apple but it works fine on Android and its only $69. I've never had the battery go dead on me yet so I don't know how long it lasts. I play about 5 hours steady and charge it nightly most of the time. Even the couple of times I forgot to charge it, it lasted through the next shift just fine.

I don't know where the audio lags comes from or what causes it. Some times I'll get audio lag too, then other times it will be just perfect. I wish I knew what causes it. If anything I would suggest it is the Prime tablet not being able to process efficiently or something. Hard to tell.

I have the Satechi pocket version ($30 2 watts with 3.5 mm audio jack). I like it a lot but am looking for more power and richer sound. This BT version looks like it could fill the bill. How many watts?
Also the Kinivo BTX110 Wireless Bluetooth Mini Portable Speaker likes like a knock-off of the Satechi BT. Has anybody trtied this one and how does it compare?
I understand that the Asus TFP has the Wolfson Class W headphone amplifier but some kernals do not yet support it. The Samsung Fascinate also has Wolson Class W and I have the Voodoo Sound Plus app on both my rooted Samsing and my rooted Asus TFP. My rooted Samsung has a kernel with the required driver supporting the extended sound controls but my Asus TFP does not. Voodoo Sound Plus makes a big difference in sound quality between my Fascinate and Asus TFP. It's all about the kernal having the required drivers.

I recently went into a Bose store, after seeing reviews on their bluetooth speaker. And I'm not a fan of Bose. They are overpriced and generally there are better alternatives for less money.
I listened to the soundlink in the store and immediately i knew i had to have one.

Yes it's expensive, but even if you look through the 4 i've had, they are cheaper now then ever.. I've probably spent over 200 on them. So that 300 dollar price tag that absolutely blows all the others out of the water doesn't look so bad.
And the best part is, you can go to a best buy or bose store and listen to it.. Hell, take your prime and pair it up and play your own music. You won't want anything else at that point. Aside from an ultra portable. I will still use the x3 for some traveling because it will fit in a smaller bag.

I completely agree with you on the Bose sound link. I picked one up over spring break at the beach and I love it. Yes it is expensive but you can't beat Bose at sound quality. The best part is i can pair my transformer and my phone and my laptop all very quickly.
The thing that surprised me the most about it was the base response. I am astonished as to the deep rich sound that it produces from such a small package.
Another point of interest is the folding cover / stand. It acts like the smart cover on the iPad. When you close it the speaker automatically turns off.
There is also a line in jack for any device you have that may not be Bluetooth capable as well.
I've found the battery life to be somewhere around 12 hours for standard use. This tapers off the louder you like your music of course.
Best of all I managed to get a refurbished one that was a wopping $75 cheaper.
What I use for a bluetooth speaker is a Sony HWS-BTA2W bluetooth receiver/transmitter, with standard powered speakers plugged into it. The Sony can be used as either a transmitter or a receiver, depending on what devices you have. I usually use it as a receiver, paired to my Prime, or phone, or even my laptop with a Jabra bluetooth transmitter connected to the headphone jack, and just plug standard powered speakers into it. I get good stereo, good sound, and the Sony isn't expensive. If you shop around, you can get one for ~$50, and you probably have some powered speakers on hand anyway.
There is always a delay with bluetooth. I had the bright idea to use bluetooth as a connection between my guitar and my amp, so I could connect wirelessly, and not have the cord to mess with. It's unusable, since there is a pronounced delay between the time you pluck the string and the sound coming out of the amp. The delay is almost a second, and it makes playing too much of a problem to deal with. I see the delay sometimes when I'm connected to the Sony with my phone or my Prime. They play a short sound when an email arrives, and it comes both through the internal speaker and through the bluetooth connection. The sound from the internal speaker is heard almost a second before the same sound comes from the speakers connected to the bluetooth connection.
Since there have been reports of issues with wi-fi in combination with bluetooth I'm wondering if you guys are experiencing problems using the bluethooth speaker while using wi-fi??

Just got a set of them, granted the price $159 was a little steep. I just didn't want wires, and working out with the Note 3 its a little tough. I was looking on amazon and best buy, but needed to go to target for some house stuff and walked by and saw them for 159 instead of 199 everywhere else. I guess its a 3 day sale according to the clerk that rang me up. The website says 199, but they are on sale in the store. Ill take a pic of the receipt later today...

Beats Audio - for those more concerned with image than quality.
Bad choice. Sorry to sound harsh but, basically, you have paid a 40% premium for a brand name, and not a particularly good one at that. You could have gotten a far better wireless solution for less money, and they would have had a frequency response that didn't involve the mid and upper ranges being overpowered and ruined by ludicrous levels of bass like all Beats Audio headphones and buds. Just one example are JBL J46BTs which you could have gotten for near half the price. There are others.
Yeah they are over priced but so are many things we buy. How do you like them? I bought some wireless Jaybirds Bluebuds X locally for $55 and i love them but i like the design of the Beats better.

Yea, I like them they sound great. Granted the price is higher than most they are the only ones that fit my ears correctly and comfortably. I hate having earphones fall out when i am running or zipping while mountain biking. Sure Beats is expensive, they sound good, feel great.
I tried theses - JBL Synchros Reflect BT In-Ear Bluetooth Headphones with Mic - Black (JBLREFLECTBTBLK) they are $100 dollars, they would pull out because they don't wrap around the ears. I also tried I tried Bose's SIE2i headphones, but the volume was far too low. They are great headphones but wanted something wireless.
Comfort - I wore these for 4 hours straight doing yardwork today. My ears didn't ache or felt uncomfortable.
Bluetooth - connects instantly, long range is great approx 30-45 feet outside, and have not experienced any skips or connection interruptions yet.
Mic - Great for calls can hear the other party on the line, and they can hear me great.
Price - $159, But in my opinion, they're worth it.
Its like anything, as a Mechanic I buy SNAP-ON, why because they are top tier when it comes to tools. Smooth and allow the ratchets to move in a few degrees to get what you need done. We all buy Brands that we like. Whether its clothing or what not. 200 dollars is steep, but 159 I needed to try them to make sure they fit and got the Job Done.

Comparing Snap-On tools to Beats is disingenuous. Snap-On are worth the premium you're expected to pay, Beats are not.
Looking online here in the UK at least, the Beats retail for around £160 and the JBLs for around £70. You also have the Jabra Rox which can be picked up for around £90. Both of which have better sound quality than the Beats offering.

Not sure how the beats sound but I just got a pair of jaybird freedoms for $30. They sound great. I've tried a few bluetooth headsets and they are the best I've used. The only issue I have is I have to put a tie in the cord that connects the earpieces otherwise it hangs on my neck and sticks while I jog. Other then that they are great especially at $30.

I got these for $14 on Amazon lightning, but they are worth $25. The first pair went back under warranty repair.
Overall, they are great. Battery life is awesome, and they are, in fact, waterproof! ( The second pair I got I inadvertently left outside in the rain for 24 hours once and they still work fine)

jbl with note 3
Hi guys,i i have my new bluetooth speaker jbl 3 and i have a problem when i connect it with my note 3.when i play music from my library,everything is ok.if i turn on the wi fi (to play music by live radios or you tube)it disconnect!after 1-2 minutes connects again for a while and after that disconnect again.has anybody problem like this with his note?
Just got me a pair of the PowerBeats 2 wireless at Best Buy for $99. Not sure how long the sale is going to be. I don't understand why people give it so much flak. The market is there to give choices to the customer. Animosity towards those that purchase Beats is like someone being upset someone bought Nike Jordans or UA Currys for basketball shoes over another more affordable brand.
I have the Bluebuds X that I purchased last year and Bluebuds X2 that I purchased when they came out. For what they are marketed for, they are by far the best. The market isn't for audiophiles. It's for people that need them for an active lifestyle. I can't speak for everyone else but they work great for the upbeat music I listen to when I work out.
The fit when compared to my Bluebuds X & X2 is much better. I can wear them without them falling out during a sweaty cardio session and they don't irritate my ears like the wings on the Bluebuds do.
Sound quality wise I think everything in the $100 - 200 price range for the most part sound the same in regards to bluetooth headsets (please read https://learn.sparkfun.com/tutorials/bluetooth-basics to understand the limitations of bluetooth headphone technologies). The differences are subtle enough that if you aren't actively trying to critique them, it sounds the same. Also keep in mind the source file quality. Let's just be honest, many people utilize one or another type of streaming service. The free ones are typically music compressed down to anywhere between 64-128 kbps for free streaming, and caps out at 320 kbps for paid services. I highly doubt anyone has a lossless 1411 kbps audio collection on their phone/ipod/etc. Unless you have a lossless audio collection, the differences in sound quality for BT headphones in this price range are for the most part negligible. What's noticeable are the preconfigured EQ settings of the headset. (I.E beats products tend to be a "U" with a focus on bass and treble, Bluebuds for the most part are flat with slightly more emphasis on mids).
For specific comparison, the Bluebuds when comparing to the Powerbeats 2, the Beats have much clearer bass response, mids and highs are comparable. Overall, I prefer the listening experience with the Powerbeats because with my Bluebuds there are times when the music sounds artificially filtered.
Bluebuds have a much better sound isolation, whereas the Powerbeats are designed to allow some ambient noise so that if you have them in while running/gym/exercising you'll still be aware of your environment.
Just my two cents.
