Bluetooth Handsfree - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam Accessories

Hi
I currently have a plantronics headset and the complaint from the people on the otherend is the fact that i "sound like im in a barrel".
The exact model is a "Plantroniss 340".
I am looking at a Jawbone and wondering if they are as good as they are cracked up to be. I spend all day using my headset so i want somehing good, and i don't mind paying for it. But if someone can reccomend something cheaper there is no need so spend the money on the JB.
It just needs to be a mono hands free as i don't use it for music or ne thing funky like that. The normal Vol and start, stop call would be needed.
Cheers

O well.
Ive gone and brought the Jawbone.

Has anyone tried the new Jabra BT800 with the Blue Angel?

Considering purchasing the new Jabra headset but I've noticed that it supports Bluetooth 1.2. Is this a problem and should I stick with the Jabra 250 (works fine)
Hmm, the 250 is the one that's supposed to have problems with audio quality according to BT, so I'm slightly confused!
Buy mail order, and if you don't like it you've got the opportunity to return it under the distance selling act.
Oh, and post the results
Bluetooth sucked until I upgraded to 3500. After that...all was well. I will post the results on the new Jabra when it arrives.
Have u got ur jabra yet? Tell us ur thoughts how it's working with PDA2K.
Thanks.
Hi,
There is a topic at PocketPC Dubai (under "Jabra BT800 and PDA2k") and the experiences of various people over there are not that encouraging. I myself found the statement: "spoke to the technical guys there and they said that Jabra has told them clearly that the BT800's caller ID function will never work with any PPCPE" kinda sad news.

bt800 with XDA2S
hi i have bt 800 paired with XDA2S
END IT WORKS 100% WITH CALLER ID
I CAN SEE THE CALLER PHONE NO PERFECTLY
I read the review, it's pretty expensive. I will have to wait for the price to go down and then buy some months later. With the Earphone mod, I am pretty happy how it is working out.
Hi All
I am succesfully using the bt800 with and XDA2s. The caller ID works fine.
i have the O2 Asian BT fix installed on the XDA until the O2 European Patch is released.
Regards
The Pilgrim
I nearly bought one of these until I read a load of customer reviews saying how bad the sound was and that it wasn't loud enough. In the end I bought the Cardo Scala 500.
Not a good experience. Range of about 2 metres (as long as it's line of sight) before the crackles start. Ok if you are calling someone, but takes 3 seconds or so to realise that youre recieving a call. Displays the callers number, so it conveniently tells you whos call you're about to miss because the pickup button works when it feels like it! (picked up 1 call in 4 today). When it does pick up a call it takes 5-6 seconds before you can hear each other
It's off back to the shop tomorrow. even the O2 Blue I sent back was better than this.....
I have been trying a few different headsets.
I am still using my Cardo Scala 500 which overall seems to work the best.
Best sound quality so far for me is Cardo Scala 500. This is also the loudest headset I have ever tried. On max setting it is actually too loud.
Best reported sound quality for person on other end is Motorola HS810.
Best connection in terms of range, pairing, reacquisition of signal is Scala 500.
Most reliable in terms of controls and function actually working was Southwing NeoVoice USB. The functions like pickup, hang up, transfer to headset, transfer to phone, readial etc ALWAYS worked, but the controls are fiddly cos you have to do everything using the little multifunction wheel.
Southwing was cool cos you could charge it from a USB port.
Motorola HS810 will also do this if you can find the right cables but Motorola don't tell you this.
Scala is very cool because it comes with some nice accessories like a neck lanyard, carry clip and a fitting that allows you to attach it to your glasses instead of hooking it over your ear.
In the next few days I should be getting my hands on a SonyErricson HBH-660.
Hi, Just a quickie about the Cardo Scala 500 does this stop the echoing you sometimes get with some headsets..
Cheers
Ian
I have not experienced any echo on the Scala so far.
There's some static from time to time but you have to expect that with any bluetooth audio.
Generally the sound is crisp and clear at my end and I have had the occasional complaint from other people that I sound like I'm in a tunnel or "tinny".
On some occasions there is just a lot of interference from something (it's always hard to tell what) which makes it hard for the other person to hear me, but even if there is static on the headset I never have difficulty hearing them.
As with any of these things "your mileage may vary".
I recommend that you try one by buying it from a website like expansys and treat it like a two week free trial as you can always send things back under the distance selling act as long as you keep them in good condition and retain all packaging.
I have the BT800, and the called ID feature works perfectly. It came with 3 chargers: USB, AC, and DC (car). It also came with a belt pouch. I haven't had any complaints from anyone about sound quality. It also works well when you dial out, and the volume is fine, sometimes even a little too loud. Pairing was easy, and the MDAIII picked it up easily.
Now for the negatives. When my MDAIII is in standby mode, and a call comes in, the headset and caller ID usually won't register until the 2nd or 3rd call or so, about 3 seconds. Once it does, sometimes it has a hard time answering the call when I press the answer button, and you can't hear anything for a second or 2. The static varies from moderate to none, but still audible even with static.
All in all, I would say that it is a decent headset. I am pleased with it. I wish that it was easier in answer mode, but I understand that these things aren't perfect. I got mine on Ebay for US$85.30 after shipping.
Hi All,
Used the BT800 with my IIs and it paired and worked well. CallerID functioned as per advertised. Ringtones and Vibra alert were also interesting. The only thing that I didn't like about it was it's size, so I'm back to using my Jabra BT250/FS258....Jabra hurry up and release the BT500 in Australia would ya?!
I added the new BT800 CAB that came with the new 1.40 ROM. The sound quality is much, much clearer now. However, I have trouble answering an incoming call from the headset. Has anyone had this trouble?
Jabra BT250 & XDA IIs
Hi there, read with interest all your comments on bluetooth performance. Is there actually anyone out there with a descent performance from the Jabra 250 and an XDA IIS. All I get is SERIOUS crackle and very poor comms quality for the other listener. This headset worked fine on my Nokia but I cannot get anything with the XDA IIs! Any thoughts / comments welcome.
"I have trouble answering an incoming call from the headset. Has anyone had this trouble?"
ditto i went to the web site and they said that the TB800 was not be to use with the PDA2K; think i they knew about the 3-10sec. delay problem
Quite a few people seem to be saying that Caller ID "works perfectly".
I have to totally disagree with that. It only shows the number that is calling you, not the name listed in your Contacts. Thats pants!
Remember Xda1 early roms that wouldn't show the name in incoming text messages, only the number? Well for me this is worse as I get far more voice calls than texts.
JD
Hello everyone.
I have BIGGEST problem with answering option of BT 800.
I use it with Qtek 9090.
I wonder if anybody of you have any expirince to solve this problem.
Everything works fine exept answering function.
I spoked with Jabra customer service and they told me that new software update for this BT headset will be evalubale soon. But ... reallly don't know if it really could help. Think that possibly the situation could be in the ROM. Currently I'm using Dangard ROM 1.44.
Hope you can help me.
Regards!

dilema....what would you do?

I recieved my blackstone last week and I love it.... however, the stereo headset was missing from the box......
I rang www.mobiles.co.uk to let them know... the woman was brilliant...apologised straight away and said they would send me a headset straight away...
which arrived the very next morning! Fantastic.....
except she sent me a £60 bluetooth headset. (Jabra)
I wanted a stereo headset so i could liisten to my tunes.... dont think i would ever use the bluetooth thing.
should i ring them up again and complain.....or should i give the headset as a xmas present or sell it????
hmmmmmm
Sell it, its worth more money and you can buy a good set of earphones (the HTC ones arent that great).

The HTC headphones are ok but sooooo uncomfrotable.
besides comfortable, the HTC headphones allow you to (1) listen to music and (2) use as a wired headset to handle calls. sell the headset and get a set of ultimate ears super.fi 4 vi; they're an good replacement and allow you to listen to music and use as a wired-headset for cell calls.

Which Stereo Bluetooth headset?

Hi there,
Can someone recommend my a good BT stereo headset to use with my TP2?
Ideally I'd like one where I can use my own headphones and have control over the media player.
Nice to haves would be Caller ID and /or track information display.
Thanks,
Richard
I got one of these.
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Slim-Bluetooth...3:1|294:50
Does the job well and looks good. cheap enough that i can wear whilst mountain biking and have my phone tucked safely in my bag.
sorry link was bust

It works great! But again... Audio-Booster is not working with this bluetooth headset...
And "volume control" is not working op the TP2... you can however control on the headset... [email protected] gives a notification of this also when connecting to the backbeat.
Oh! and by the way! you can multi-pair this headset to more than one device. What I have done: pair the stereo part to my TP2 and the phone part to my Ipaq914c for calling (business). When a cal comes in the music pauses and you can call and when he call is ended the music starts playing... NICE!

if you want to use your own headphones I would recommend the JABRA BT3030 if you want some quality...the sound is also good for a bluetooth headset...
if you're thinking of buying the sony ericsson HBH-DS980 because of the caller ID function, DONT, because this function will only work on the Sony phones...
ive got these.

play music, whene the phone rings just pick up, music will mute.
worked with my universal, does it fine on my pro2
OK. I bought the Jabra one in the end.
Works pretty well except that it only controls the builtin media player and not S2P.

I using set of BlueAnt X5.. No Problems.. Unfortunately it looks like they don't make them any more..

My friend Vardig, plz review the product before spending you hard money for it. It was real great experience to get something new but neva be hasty to buy something which you couldn't give a real-time experience like a demo hanging in the mall. Go through the following link before investing into this product..peace -->

Hi GillBostonian,
Thanks for the link.
The product is actually really good. I dont get the "it's hurting my ears" , "it's matt black" etc.
The JB-200 is an awsome product and is geared towards extreme sports people and at the gym.
Love it, however my taste in music requires BASS, and this is something it does not have, therefore I gave them away .
There was bass but not enough for my likeing.
I will be getting the Jabra Halo and see how they work and will report back
hi all,
i've just paired a sony DR-BT20NX wireless headset to my tp2 and i must say i'm quite please with the results.
When paired, the device does say that it will not support volume control, which it doesn't but it has it's own volume control which you can easily use to adjust the volume to your needs.
Also, when music is playing and you receive a call, it mutes the music and rings! you can then pick up, talk and hang up; the music resume as soon as the call is disconnected.
You also get the remote control features to fully work with it e.g play stop ff rev etc.
The quality of sound, especially bass, is pretty impressive i must say.
Anybody else who'se used it?
So far, I must say I'm quite happy with it - though only down side, it's slightly pricey? it's around for £55-70
Comments/suggestions welcome.

I bought the Motorola S9's two years ago and hated them... they had compatibility problems with my phone and desktop (skipping constantly)... but when I paired them with my TP2, they worked flawlessly... definitely recommended for this phone.

Yes, +1. I have the original S9 and the the new S9-HD and they are great, I use them all the time.
Look on Ebay and you can find the original S9's for $35 new delivered!! The only big difference between the the new and old version is while in a call, the old S9 only plays the call in to the left ear. The HD plays it back in both. Pretty much the same other than that.

Re: Help
Bumpity bump...
Pls guys... dont tell me none of you had this issue.....
help me out here ... i really need it .....
Hey,
I got mine sorted.
I bought something very similar to THIS
My one is slightly different. Only has one button on, which isn't going to get used anyway!
The above one would do the same I'd imagine.
Cost me £11 from Best Buys
Works an absolute treat. And sounds much better than my old iPhone.
Just need to run another cable from the adapter to the phone, and away you go!
Hmmm... that is a good solution for this....
But then again i think there was an HTC phone review where i saw this option pop out when u connect anything into the jack... lets see...
As for that .... ya that is a good option...
But lets hope someone comes along for another solution...
Ill have to check if something similar to that Jack is sold here in my country in India...
Thanks for the heads up man... appreciate it
wanted to post this as a seperate thread..also posted it as an answer to another nrelated thread where the question came up..
these are stereo headsets for music and calls...the ear bud options might work for you guys while driving:
I own 3 bluetooth headsets (yes i own every tecky geeky corny cool gadget I can find...usually I just test them out and sell them for a profit on ebay ).
I bought these Samsung SBH600 on woot during a one day sale for 55 bucks (shipping included) and you cant find them anywhere now (sorry...if you wait anywhere between a couple of months to a year woot may have them again..its one sale a day there). They are 30% passive noise canceling and really good quality. Can be used both for music and calls:
http://www.woot.com/Blog/ViewEntry.aspx?Id=14521
These also have a wire for a 3.5 mm jack so you can use for music only if you ran out of juice.
This is the amazon listing in case it ever become available again:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002CX03PA/sr=8-2-fkmr1/qid=1286355036/ref=olp_product_details?ie=UTF8&me=&qid=1286355036&sr=8-2-fkmr1&seller=
For comparable ones you can find the previous model but i cant vouch for those:
http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-SBH500-Bluetooth-Wireless-Headset/dp/B0016I6GUS/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=mobile&qid=1294670770&sr=8-1
You will have to check reviews and I do not think those have any noise cancelling properties. I think they also lack the 3.5 mm jack.
i also have the moto rockr headset:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001LXR0BW/ref=pd_lpo_k2_dp_sr_2?pf_rd_p=1278548962&pf_rd_s=lpo-top-stripe-1&pf_rd_t=201&pf_rd_i=B001EKQQ5S&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_r=0D7YT72QD8CD9NMWYTKH
This one is more of a startreky kind of look like a backwords visor. They have earbuds and it hangs behind your head. Good quality and has volume control and answering calls etc. Does not have 3.5 mm jack so bluetooth is your only option or noise cancelling.
Finally I have the very first version of these sony bluetooth headsets which also have a little led display on them. They can connect to more than one device so you could have them connected to your ipod and phone together for example (I think the samsung has that too but I havent tested it out).
http://www.amazon.com/Sony-Ericsson-Bluetooth-Stereo-Headset/dp/B003DQ1DCM/ref=pd_cp_cps_0
Other options I do not own and cannot vouch for:
http://www.amazon.com/Motorola-S305-Bluetooth-Stereo-Headset/dp/B002BH3I9U/ref=sr_1_1?s=wireless&ie=UTF8&qid=1294671987&sr=1-1
http://www.amazon.com/Sony-DRBT101-BLK-Bluetooth-Headset/dp/B001QXDSMW/ref=sr_1_8?s=wireless&ie=UTF8&qid=1294671987&sr=1-8
hope this helps...its usually the stero headsets which will play music and then answer calls...the ear muff style is good for planes etc..the earbud style for driving and stuff...

[Q] Stereo bluetooth headset

Anyone know of a good place to pick up a good Stereo bluetooth headset?
Headset
Love this one but there are many more. http://www.amazon.com/Nokia-BH-905i...121W/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1318638814&sr=8-3
Newegg. I got the Motorola ##9 in the ear for like 45.00 regularly 100.00. I also got one at Best Buy, it is made by Rocketfish for about 50.00. The Rocketfish is an on top of the ear, and I like it as well as the Motorola. These both have a hidden mic, and have great sound quality(I am not an audiophile)so that is my opinion. Motorola's are not as comfortable as the RF's, but they they are more concealed.

Sorry I guess I should have said that I am looking for a in the ear pair.
I have a pair of the s9HD's but the volume buttons stopped working after 3 months and Moto is jerking me around on replacing them so I am looking for something new.
They will mostly be used for road biking and working out.
Here is what I use.. I picked mine up at a ATT store. Love them!

It makes it much easier to control your phone while you're excercising for example without the cord connected to it.
At the same time the module itself also has buttons to control music and access voice commands.
Another thing is that the module also has a mic built in to work with headphones that don't.
Another +1 on the Sony MW600!

Thanks for the reply's guys.
I have looked at the Jaybirds before and for what ever reason I do not care for them.
I am kind of digging the Sony headset and think that I may give that a try. I like that it has built in FM radio as well so I can use them in the gym to watch their TV's.
Thanks again I knew that XDA would come through for me.

I bought this model from there for $25, and it works great.
BH-503 Designer's Bluetooth Stereo Handsfree Headset (13-Hour Talk/240-Hour Standby)
Works like a charm with my S2.
I picked up one of the Sony WM600 headsets this weekend. It was on sale at the local AT&T store and with my FAN discount and taxes, the price came to less than $42.
Today is the first full day of use, but I've been using it to stream music and podcasts and one 15 minute phone call all morning long. About 4 hours on it so far and the battery meter hasn't budged. Range is decent - I've wondered off about 20 feet with no loss of audio. Radio works better than I thought at pulling in relatively weak signals.
One complaint - the call/hangup button is positioned in such a way that when you grab it to release the clip (like you would to re-position it) you end up pressing the button.
One oddity - when you press the call/hangup button, it seems to sometimes loose it's connection to the music stream and can take a few on/off bluetooth toggles to get it to reconnect.
So far I really like it. The display is nice and passes on caller ID information. It's very small and from what I can tell so far, the battery life will be decent.
