Please Help. Orange Sim in O2 Xda, not allowing text messages - G4

Hi, I have recently bought a Sim unlocked O2 XDA Mini S. I am on Orange network and put my sim in. Making and receiving calls no problem.
It wont allow me to send or receive text messages. I called Orange to replace Sim and they wont do it. I am absolutely clueless about ROM s or IMEI s etc. and i would appreciate help and explanations as though i am a 10 year old.
All i know is that the device is a G4. I have tried searching forums but have no idea where to find it.
Please help as it is getting really frustrating.
Thanks

I might be wrong here but I had a similar issue, I think it is a case of setting the device so that SMS is the default mail application. I forget where in the settings this is but will look later this evening if you havent found.

Hi, Thanks for that. I have tried to change settings but it won't allow me to do so. I get a message saying "phone not ready, try again in 15 seconds"

I had this same exact problem/message once. I had an orange sim which came with the SPV M700 (trinity) hence it was a 3G sim card. Tried using it with a SPV M600 (prophet) and it kept throwing up that message. Using other sim cards and the M600 would work perfectly. The problem was the sim card and Orange UK will not change it to a 2G card even over their dead bodies!!! Only solution was to go back to a 3G-enabled phone (which I did for a while) or change network which I did eventually (T-Mob - lots of free calls on Flext 35 )

has anyone found a way round this yet?

Desperately need help with my XDA and 3 network in the UK

Can aybody please help. I have my XDA and at present an NEC e606 phone that came as part of my contrat with 3. The XDA is unlocked and I can use my 3 Sim Card with it and can happily make calls, receive calls and receive text messages on my XDA.
I cannot however send text messages using my XDA with the 3 Sim Card. Whenever I do I get an error that says 'The sim card is invalid. Please contact your service provider for a new sim card.' I do not want to have to use the e606 at all and am desperate to try to figure out why I cannot send texts via my XDA. I have put the sim back into the 606 and it sent texts fine so I don't think its the sim.
Also in the 606 the sim is read fine for the contacts stored within but in my XDA when I go to Sim Manager I get an error every time saying 'Sim is busy. Wait 5 seconds and try again.' Does anyone know why I am getting this error??
Apologies for what are probably basic questions but I am new to the XDA and am not too sure which way to go about this or what settings (if any) may need to be changed. It just seems strange that I can receive texts, make calls and receive them as well but cannot send texts.
Anyone have any ideas??? Any help would be MUCH appreciated.
With thanks

Hi
I STRONGLY believe that a 3 sim will never work on a GSM phone.
the 3 network uses 3G and NOT GSM. 3G is some new way of doing things that allows faster video hence all the adverts involving ducks etc...
sorry
If that is the case surely I shouldn't be able to do anything with the sim. It seems bizarre that I can receive texts on my XDA with the sim and can make and receive calls on the XDA with the sim as well. The only thing I cannot do is send texts with it.
Does this seem right????
With thanks
In agrement
3 is on the 3G spectrum, not 800-1900 GSM.
You are able to use the SIM card though because, 3 have a contract with O2. When out of 3 coverage you are roaming, just like abroad. To maintain service you connect to the o2 GSM network. now as to what level you connect I don't know.
You can receive texts ok. So do you use a message centre number?
You can make voice calls, o2 gsm network.
what about internet, video, data, etc....
Just remember where you are. Simple questions, are never simple!!
Martin
I haven't tried the internet, video, data etc as I never had any intention of using these services from 3. I went with 3 because of the amazing deal they are offering on X-Network minutes. All I want ot do is be able to do the normal stuff (make / recieve calls and send / recieve texts) as you would on a normal mobile.
I know that 3 have there agreement with O2 and that I drop onto there network when not in a 3 service area for calls. I am not totally sure about the settings for the message centre number but surely these would be on the sim card itself anyway. As I said I can send texts using the e606 handset but just not with my XDA. Why would I be able to receive texts using my XDA but just not send them.

X10 2.1 sms issue

Hey all,
Just wondering whether its me or not, but ever since the update if I type a text longer than '1 message(+9) '(weird but cool feature if I must say) my phone will Not send the message no matter what..and as long as I have it under that character limit it works fine...
I'm in australia and with Optus, and I work for them as well so I know it isn't my sim or my account :/
Anybody else had this issue? Because I know currently the samsung galaxy S(2.1) is having compatability issues with texting, but I wouldn't imagine it'd be the same cause...
- Shalz
Sent from my X10i using XDA App
I just did a test text and it worked fine.. 2 messages sent no problems.. (UK Vodafone).. World Generic 2.1 firmware.
just wondering did you update to the optus 2.1 or the generic?
I have a feeling i must be on the generic firmware because i did have 1.6 Rooted prev. to the update
I asked the guys at work about the update today and none of them so far have been able to update...even though i downloaded the Australasian PC Companion.
but even picture messages and everything else works perfectly fine...its just that one thing =/
I have the exact same issue, it happened to me also on 1.6 bu that was more generous and gave me 2 message lengths before it would fail to send. its strange as the first couple of messages i sent on the nordic 2.1 update where fine and they were well over 2 message lengths and then suddenly if i try to send one over 1 message length it fails!!! weird
would love to find the reason to this
Someone found any solution FOR THIS??? Help
It's saying "Could not send" for me, but is actually sending the first 160 characters of the message
Edited to add: I'm on UK Vodafone with the Global Generic 2.1 firmware.
Further edit: I'm able to send long sms to myself, just not my intended recipient...? She's on O2, could this be why?
Even more edit: Just tried sending to someone else and they didn't receive anything?! Very inconsistent!
sms Issue
Hi,
I have the same issue with my sms, it will not send more than 1 message otherwise the text bounce back saying message not sent, I just upgraded to 2.1 Nordic. The problem did exist when i was on the 1.6 but then the message will not send only if it was more than 2 messages, I am on vodafone uk, my phone was not debranded whilst running 1.6.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I still haven't found a solution to this, interesting that you're also on UK Vodafone though, maybe it's something to do with them rather than the firmware?
has anyone found solution to this I have Rogers X10a and Telus sim card in it. Can't send sms if its longer than 160 charecters . Please help
I'm having the same problem as well. Any message over 160 characters and it won't send. This has actually resulted in my not being able to send shorter messages after trying to send a message that is over 160 characters. Not sure what is going on here or if there is a setting that can be changed for this.
I'm in the U.S. on AT&T. Used the xda flash to global and rogers and neither would send an sms message over 160 I guess? (it's 2 sms) Did a global firmware to 1.6 and then updated to x10a 2.1 via sony and then tried and it still would not send. It will send through GSM however using the edge network. It must have something to do with the h network then and no I don't get 3g to pop up at the top of the screen ever..
I'm not too sure what the problem is here but it is the only one I am having on my phone, everything else is working great!...
If anyone can help us all out with any ideas or suggestions it would be great but as of now it sounds like it's a problem with the new software from sony. Gonna try messing with the sms apn a bit and see if I come up with anything but as of now 2.1 sms is considered broken in my opinion.:/
im having the same problem. im using chompsms and at the botton, instead of saying 160 char it says 70 and wont send more than two texts long. If the network is changed to GSM only, any size text will send but then internet is slow unless its changed back. AT&T settings were found automatically but they are all correct.
my SE Xperia X10 on 2.1 wont send messages at all. no matter the size. ive tried to send messages like "Hey" or "No" and they dont send. Im with in Canada, with Rogers. And its not my signal because i have 4 bars...
-Thanks

Thanks Jeff! As I am having this issue too, awaiting for any news about it...
Hi Everyone,
I've heard back from our team today. This is not a generic problem. I will need information from your phones to pass on so I can duplicate the problem. Please PM me the following details:
Country:
Service Provider/Operator:
IMEI:
SI#: (SI is the ####-####.# on the back of the phone)
Did this happen in 1.6?:
Did it ever work on 2.1?:
I need at least 5 examples to pass to the team to move this forward. I will update you when I've collected these.
Hi all,
Ok, found a solution - try this and let us know how it goes, its worked for me!
1. Open dialer and dial: *#*#4636#*#*
2. Select Phone Information from menu
3. Scroll down to SMSC
4. Enter SMS centre number given by your service provider in this box
5. Select Update
I got a "update error" message but it still seemed to save the number, but with " and a 3 digit code after it.
If the above doesn't work, as a short term solution you caould switch to just "GSM" in your network settings and this also works - not ideal, but it's a workaround!

Can't change call forwarding?

I have a Toshiba TG01 on Vodafone Pay as you Go. I'm trying to change the call forwarding settings - so that unanswered calls go to voicemail after 30 seconds (rather than 15 seconds). When I try to apply these settings, I get the following error message;
"Cannot save your changes to the network. Try changing settings later, or disconnect data connection and try again."
Does anyone know how to overcome this?
Not sure if this is relevant but the phone was originally tied to Orange UK before I bought it. I use it otherwise with Vodafone PAYG without any issue otherwise.

it has nothing to do with your tg01 phone. it causes from most prepaid provider. try with a other sim card- it will work

HELP NEEDED!!! Cant send or recive calls!? PLEASE HELP!!!...

EDIT: Just tried a 3 sim card and it worked so I will get another T-Mobile Sim to see if the problem is a didgy sim card...strage as the sim works when I put it in a micro sim to sim adapter in another phone!?
Im in the UK, with T-Mobile and randomly cant send/recieve calls or texts
I called T-Mobile and they refreshed the network settings but I still cant call...they said it wasnt anything to do with network coverage as it was displaying i had signal, but in call settings > additional settings or call forwarding > voice call:
it says "Network or Sim error"
my sim works in another phone too so its not a dodgy sim...so it is 100% down to the phone that I cannot call or recieve calls or texts so not just call settings being messed up, problem surfaced 2 hours after flashing Foxhound 0.3 (but in those 2 hour calls/texts were working)
I have done hard reset, and facory reset, restored a backup...also flashed stock XXLF2, and also LF8 but all with no luck
My IMEI number is displayed in about phone, it is displaying full signal, and T-Mobile in the dropdown menu and im able to use my mobile data from T-Mobile so what is wrong, and how can I fix this?
Would be forever grateful to whoever can help me out...even if your not sure any ideas are welcome as my £500 phone is as good as bricked to me!
I will take it into T-Mobile to see if they will replace the handset under warranty but how do I go about making it seem it hasnt been rooted or flashed custom ROM, I know I need Triangle away but what order etc?
Thanks allot
Remove root apps .
Run Triangle Away
Flash original stock rom .
Check rom counter .

Cant use Vodafone carrier out of a sudden - no call or sms. but internet works fine.

Hi ya,
the guys from android-hilfe.de sent me here because they cant help me anymore. I brought the HOX+ 3 weeks ago on ebay local. the first week everything went fine and then out of a sudden I cant sent SMS or call anybody. when I try to call anybody (no different if I enter the number by hand or chose it from the contactlist) the connection isnt established. no error message, nothing. just "beep" and thats it. I use a vodafone simcard and if another vodafone user tries to call me, he gets the same "beep" like me, when I try to call. SMS dont reach me either. the sender gets an error just seconds after he tries to sent. I cant sent it too. BUT i get access to the internet. surfing, whatsapp and the facebook-app works fine. I had switched off wifi to make sure the connection is established through my vodafone carrier...and it is.
I called my provider an they say it must be the simcard - so they sent my a new one. but it doesnt helped. the same errors like before. then i tried to chance my simcard with a friend who uses o2 in his galaxy S3. my sim worked in his phone perfectly and his sim in my HOX+, too. Then i took the simcard of another friend whos also using vodafone and put it in my HOX+. the problems with calling and SMS were the same. my sim card was working fine in his HD2. so i tried more and more...it seems that only vodafone simcards got the problem with my phone. i also tried to reset the HOX+, deleted call forwarding, which doesnt fix the problem too. even gsm-codes like #004# or *135# wont work and a got the error message "Connection Problem or Invalid MMI Code".
because i brought it on ebay i´m afraight it might have been stolen and locked by the provider - is there something like simlock or netlock? and if yes, how to fix it?
please excuse my bad english and thanks a lot for your help in advance
http://www.imei.info/
use that to check if it's stolen
Hi Lexx,
nice to see you here .
I dont think that is stolen ( more I hope so ). First check that out , maybe you or someone else is able to unlock it, if it is simlocked.
If it is stolen I would force as much preassure as I can to the seller...
Paypal or a complain to the police
thank you for you warm welcome.
i just checked the imei at imei.info and can't see any clue that the phone was stolen. do you need any information provided by the homepage or how to go on now? the phone still isn't working (except internet).
Goto the Vodafone website,
In their support area you can find a formulae to reapply network settings.
I had the problem you described with my dhd, reapplying carrier settings fixed SMS and calling.
Alternatively you can manually crosscheck all settings.

Alex
Sent from my Transformer Prime TF201 using Tapatalk 2
well I crosschecked the settings at least 10 times. they are definately correct. A konfiguration SMS cant be sent by 1&1 (a reseller of vodafone i use) because I cant receive sms at all. so my problem is still there. I recognized, that after I try to sent a SMS the connection always breaks down and I have to enter my pin-code again.
It seems there's something very strange with that phone. maybe any kind of lock?!
ps:
i can sent MMS but do not receive them.
Did you try a factory reset?
Sent from my HTC One X+ using Tapatalk 2
yes i tried software reset in the settings menu. But i didnt worked
Sounds like you need apn settings
Sent from my HTC One X+ using xda app-developers app
are you sure? The settings are correct and internet and mms wouldnt work if the settings were wrong. Right?
Depends and you said the Sudan? Hmm may be its a band issue. If your not on the same gsm bands your not going to receive voice. But if your on a compatible data band you will receive data. Now call your service provider and simply ask if the settings are correct. And there are data only Sims so you gotta watch out. Call the service provider and see what's what
. Good luck!
Sent from my HTC One X+ using xda app-developers app
it worked some days until it suddenly stopped working. i already got a new simcard and checked the settings. they're right. but i found out that i'm not the only one having this problem:
forums.att.com/t5/Wireless-General-Device/HTC-one-X-plus-stops-receiving-calls/td-p/3370861
i just use the carries 1&1 (a german reseller of vodafone),but the problems are the same... and it seems there's no solution to fix it
maybe you got a clue?
Hmm ok how is the signal?
Sent from my HTC One X+ using xda app-developers app
depends on where I am. Right now in the middle of berlin it says hsdpa with maximum signal.
Can you tell me what the right settings would be when I enter *#*#4636*#*# ??? there are loats of information and maybe there it can be seen which is wrong.
any clue? Well I found out that there is something called "vodafone protect" which seems to lock and/or delete the mobile when it's stolen. maybe I bought a protected one Or should this be "deleted" when I reset by menu??
