Having just read the thread about Nokia BT car kits causing echo (I've apparently got this problem ) I just wanted to know peoples opinion on what BT car kit I should replace my Nokia one with?
Someone mentioned the HCB-300 SE. Is the 'SE' but different from a normal HCB-300 that I can easily get on eBay, or here.
Are there any others I should concider for my PDA2k? Thanks for any help.

Ok, you've got my attention What BT version are you using on your BA.
I've also got a nokia CK7W and i'm struggling . With BT 3900 it doesn't work at all, and with BT3500 (and only after a re-rom) it's echoey to the caller and the callers sound 'distant' to me - I've tried fiddling with all the volumes, placement of speakers etc - if it's a feedback problem it's internal!
Could you let me know your configuration with this Parrot CK because i'd be really interested. Do all the features work?

Right, Device Information first
BT - 1.0.0.3900
ROM Version - 1.40.00 WWE
ROM Date - 10/3/2005
Radio - 1.12.00
ExtROM - 1.31.139
Had a CK-7W first, very echoey and problems with incoming calls not being answered correctly. Got the CK 3300 installed - works OK but not perfectly! I've got a mute kit so it mutes the stereo and puts the audio through the front speakers (it's what we design and make at work) so I knew this bit wasn't faulty when I had the CK-7W installed.
Created hands-free connection and serial connection in minutes. Transferred all my contacts to the kit. All calls work both directions, no echo at all.
The only thing it doesn't do all the time is automatically connect to the kit when I switch the ignition on - sometimes it does and sometimes it doesn't!
When using navigation (TT3,TT5,Destinator 3 and Destinator PN) it automatically connected to the kit and GPS starts up. With TT5 it actually mutes the nav when a call comes in
I've also tried the M500 and MPx220(with smartphone nav installed) with the kit and all work faultlessly so I'm well impressed.

Also do you have the same issue when using the Eten M500?

Hey guys,
I'm trying to find a bluetooth headset that will work clearly and cleanly with my xda iis.
I've tried the jabra 250 whilst in the o2 shop and the chap there blamed the crackly poor quality sound on the flourescent lights. Whatever!
Could we start a thread of known working bluetooth headsets for the blue angel or is there a list somewhere else?
I'm becoming quite tired of trying to find a clear working device.
Thanks.
I'm using a Nextlink BlueSpoon without any problems.
Motorola HS810 here, works fine.
i use the BodyGlove Bluetooth Headset.
No Complaints.
i use the Sony-Ericsson HBH-602 Headset, it works fine.
I have used the following:
Ultra Mini Bluetooth Headset - Crackle City
Sony Ericsson HBH-65 - Worked Great
Nextlink Bluespoon AX - Crackly City
Sony Ericsson HBH-600 - Crackle someitmes - but good otherwise.
Used BT800 with Telecom Harrier and it doesn't work properly.
Paired alright and it seems like the mic part of the headset is not working.
I can hear people talking over the phone but they can't hear me at all.
Upgraded to BT3900 and still doesn't work.
Tried with another BT800 and the same result.
Everything works but not the mic.
I bought the Motorola HS850 yesterday and it has arrived at 930am thanks to www.i2020.co.uk
Took it out the box, charged it for an hour (not the recommended two), went into bluetooth manager and created a new headset connection.
Within 60 seconds I now have a perfectly working bluetooth device. Just called a friend and they didn't even know I was on a bluetooth headset.
A big THUMBS DOWN  for the Jabra models and a big THUMBS UP for the Motorola models!
Thanks all for your input.

I deleted the profile and re-paired it but it ain't working.
It pairs alright and I can hear others talking but they can't hear me.
It might be my handset or the headset with mic faulty.
I will go get another one and try. If it still doesn't with my harrier, I will just wait and seek for a new model.

Hi,
just got the new Motorola HS 850, till now works great.
Sound is good, very little echo.
Using ROM 1.40 and Radio 1.13
On my carkit (Bluetooth Lintech for Cark-91) a lot of echo.
So far so good.
Regards,
Max
I've used both the Logitech Mobile Freedom and their Mobile Pro headsets with no problems.
Personally, I prefer the Mobile Pro because the ear clip mechanism allows you to clip the headset to a shirt.
i have the hbh 660 and it works great. you can even see who is calling you on the lcd of the headset... ooooh yeah
I use this one....
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=6402429860&rd=1&sspagename=STRK:MEWN:IT&rd=1
and its A PILE OF PANTS!!!!!!!!!!!
I get one call out of it and then anything after it asks for the pin, which when entered does sod all. The amount of times I've nearly crashed in a blind rage with this useless piece of equipement....
....Anyone know of anything that might fix this????? Or is it a lost cause???
Cheers

Hi! I have Motorola HT 820 - this device work fine (Stereo headset, handsfree)
wireless modem applet fixes BT sound quality
On my SX-66, I have found that if I connect the Jabra BT200 and activate it (press the pickup/hangup button so the PDA sound is in the headset), then run the Wireless Modem applet (\Windows\WModem.exe), "Start" a connection, then exit the applet with the "ok" button, the sound quality will magically correct itself!
This confirms to me that the sound quality problem is a software issue. Every BT headset would work if whatever the Wireless Modem applet does was integrated into the connection routine.
This is not a great workaround because it take about 1 hour to prepare for a phone call  as the wireless resets and is stubborn about reconnecting. It isn't just the reset that fixes the problem because just reseting the wireless has never helped my sound quality problems.
For now, it is best to buy a headset that already works, but there is hope that in the future all BT handsfree devices may work correctly.
If anyone is using one with a Hero, can you get Stereo?
If so what ROM are you using and did you have to tweak anything?
I've got mine connected and get Mono (Left channel) audio only, although all the buttons and call control functions work perfectly!
I've tried tweaking the settings and enabling the headset only for Media and not phone calls to make sure thats not the problem with no luck.
My Plantronics 590a works in stereo on Modaco 3.0 without doing anything special. I know that isn't helpful but I just wanted you to know that it can work in stereo.
Edit: Radio 63.18.55.06JU_6.35.08.29
Im not sure what the difference is between the 590 and 590A variants. Maybe mine are 590A though i'm not sure how to tell (Anyone Know?)
Whats written on the sticker on your headphones? (If you don't mind looking)
Mine says:
Plantronics P590
FCCID: AL8-P590
IC: 457A-P590
Made in Mexico
Date Code: A07-B
SW:SB
I can try the 3.0 ROM and the Radio you use.. So I will give those a go.. Hopefully one of those will fix it.
Thanks for the Info
Turns out the Hero is not to blame here..
Somehow (I've used them maybe 3 times in the 1.5 years I've owned them) the right earpiece has gone faulty.
So I think they would work.. but would now not reccomend buying them as they cant be that reliable (I store them in thier case and havent dropped them or anything like that)
Thanks to the guy that replied.
My sticker is the same so we more than likely have the same headset.
I would say the same about not recommending them. Not because they are not reliable but because the sound quality is horrible. At least they are in mine
Hi,
my question is, whether is any chance to get to Wildfire an FM transmitter. I had it on Nokia N86 and it was great...
It's impossible since there's no hardware in it.. for once, I really envied some Nokia phones with fm transmitter..
Sent from my HTC Wildfire using XDA App
The only solution is that buy an FM transmitter with a 3.5 mm jack entrance .
Sent from my HTC Wildfire using XDA App
Yeah, I had that one time, but it was cheap crap and it got broken and not working ever since....well, i guess, I'll have to keep N86 for music and photos (got great 8MPx camera made by Carl Zeiss...makes beautiful picts ;-))
Thanks anyway ;-)
Hi everyone, I just found somewhere on this forum, that there is actually a device, that you plug into microUSB port, set the FM frequency and listen through car speakers. It was of course for older devices, but have you ever heard about that thing? I guess, that would solve my problem...thanks for any response

I didn't quite get what your query is, but what you have described is exactly the function of an FM Transmitter. They are very much available and should work on the Wildfire as well.

This has probably been addressed before. Has anyone found an apk file for the HTC FM radio that will work with the rezound . Thanks.
Yes it has been addressed before and nobody has this working yet. Just search this forum for it.
Found it and it works
If anyone is still looking, I found a thread on PCgeeks, followed it and it works great on my Evo 4g! Tried to post it but due to my utter noobness xda won't let me. Just google htcfmradio.apk and look for the thread on the PC Geeks forum. OBTW, other threads addressed an issue where people said the app wasn't working, but you have to have a three ring headset jack vs. the two ring on most. I can verify that this is correct. My earbuds have two black rings on the jack, no worky. My bose qc15 has three black rings, works 4.0! Sweet! Great sound, all of the stations come in very clear.

this is true. we need to have if so they can use the lower ring as an antenna. with out the hardware, i dont see this app ever working for the rez. there are alternatives like apps that you can listen to your favorite stations from there online broadcast and not over an FM tuner.
I tried the FM radio on my phone and I cannot get it to work. i do not believe that htis phoen has the FM radio chip. BTW, I was using the 3 ring headphone.
Googled it but couldn't find any that Worked. Link us or pm me the link and I'll post it.

Typically on a regular stereo headphone plug you have a 1/8" TRS plug. TRS stands for Tip-Ring-Sleeve. Generally Tip would be Left ear (+), Ring is Right ear (+) and Sleeve is common ground.
The "3 ring" plug you are talking about is 1/8" TRRS, or Tip-Ring1-Ring2-Sleeve. Generally speaking, the configuration of these are:
Tip=Left
Ring1=Right
Ring2=analog input (mic)
Sleeve=Ground
This is the case for the Rezound's plug. Ring2 is for input (headset-mic, or for analog signals sent from devices such as Square dongle or the music control buttons on the iBeats headphones)
Plugging in a regular set of stereo headphones without the 2nd ring (TRS) simply disables the input by grounding it out (Ring2 and Sleeve contacts are both touching the "sleeve" of the TRS plug). To the best of my knowledge, the Rezound isn't capable of using this 2nd ring contact as an antenna lead, as plugging in a set of headphones with a mic (iBeats) would totally nullify any ability for that lead to act as an antenna. The coil in the microphone would absorb any signal that might be received on that wire.
I PM'ed Abu7 the link. When I google htcfmradio.apk the first link is the ppcgeeks one. Post #8 has instructions for how to install. Also, I believe the headphones need to be 3.5mm. The headphones with the microphone jack I believe will have the third ring. I just ordered some earbuds from Amazon that I think will work. I'll let you know in a day or two and try to link that as well.
Here they are:
ok try it with terminal app
1) Place the .apk on the root of your SD card
2) Type "su"
3) cd into the destination of your .apk
4) Use "install "name of .apk" /"destination"/"name of .apk"
like this
su
cd /sdcard
install htc.appname.appname.apk /system/app/htc.appname.appname.apk

I have tried many apks from all over the internet and they all fail to even install.
Just got these (3.5MM LG OEM Stereo Earbud Headphones /w Microphone Extension for HTC Droid Incredible (Black) ) in the mail from Amazon and they work with the FM radio. The two ring earbuds I have do not work (just static). The reviews on these were good and the price was right.
Not sure why the apk doesn't work for some. Could be an EVO only thing? I know the EVO came with FM radio. After I rooted I had to go find it again, though. Maybe some phones aren't set up for it.
I'm using an EVO 4G with a Nitrous rom.

Yeah, and that forum doesn't have the apk.
So the Rezound has the BCM4330 chip...
After a quick bit of research, it seems that ALL variants of that chip that I have found do contain an FM transceiver, which is really interesting actually. This means that technically, the Rezound should also be able to transmit audio sources over FM Radio to your car stereo as well as receive FM Radio.
Other specs I've found show that the Rezound should also support 5Ghz 802.11 A/N wifi too, but I haven't been able to get any 5Ghz networks to be visible to my phone...
My guess is these functions must be implemented at the kernel level before they will function correctly.
So, now I challenge any developer to get this working.

Seconded!
Actually, its really a shame how gimped this phone comes, now that I'm aware of more of its capabilities. For the first "Beats Audio" phone to the USA, where you would assume its audio features would have been the most important area of focus, most of the stock capabilities of the hardware aren't even implemented.
-So we have an FM Transceiver that can currently neither transmit, nor receive. The transmitter especially is an awesome features for people who spend a lot of time in a car listening to their own music.
-We have a relatively hifi audio DAC, the WM8903, with an awesome built-in headphone amp capable of driving big studio cans. Not implemented. The audio on this phone is processed entirely in software, essentially limiting the capabilities of the WM8903 chip to a simple headphone-jack interface and nothing more.
-Beats Audio mode itself was supremely disappointing in its extremely limited implementation.
-5Ghz Wifi capable but it appears to not be implemented either.
All of this stuff could probably be fixed. I know Anthrax kernel supports processing audio in the DAC, I know Voodoo Sound is compatible with this chip and supports the DAC and headphone amp but its currently not available on the Rezound...
The wifi and FM radio are both handled by the same chip, so likely we just need a proper driver or kernel support to add in the missing features supported by the chip.
**edited for false information**
gsmarena.com posted that the Rezound utilizes the Wolfson 8903 DAC. This appears to be false. The Rezound actually appears to utilize the TI AIC3254
