SMS Tone - JAMin, XDA Neo, S200 ROM Development

Where do I change the SMS tone in WM6, the "You've got message" from PDAViet is starting to annoy me
Thanks in advance

that is a good question
i would like to know that aswel my girlfriend is starting to lol everytime my phone goes off. if any one can help use please let me us know thanks

Go to Settings --> Sound & Notification --> Notification Tab --> Messaging: New text message

Ok works, thanks alot!!

i want to know if there is anyway that you can put a mp3 as ringtone or a wav file or something plaese help thanks

i use ringo mobile for that. wav, mp3, aac, ogg, wma ... no problem for ringo making as ringtone or sms... i manage my ringtone groups with ringo. thats more comfortable =)

just copy any mp3,wma in the windows directory and then select it from settings>>sounds and notifications>>notifications, then choose event and assign a sound

If I am not mistaken, I think that only wav works for SMS. mp3 or wma works for incoming calls only

Here are mine if you are looking for some "inspirations"
well if you ever saw the movie eurotrip, you may enjoy this .wav/.mp3 file
enjoy lol
EDIT: I have a .wav for an alert tone, and .mp3 for my ringtone (not this mp3 but something else)...and everything is on my SD card (in the root directory, never tried hiding it in a folder)
EDIT SQUARED: I uploaded another .zip file, it has two mp3 ringtones that i use, my email notification noise, and two other .wav files (the old and new SNCF tone)

Now to convert midi/poly ringtones to wm 2003 format

There is a utility called PSMPlayer which can save a regular MIDI file as a Ringtone. This saved MIDI format is compatible with WM2003.
how to do it:
1) open psmplayer
2) file> open > locate a midi file on your system.
3) play it to see if it sounds ok
4) click the RED circle icon
5) give the poly ring tone a name
6) tick the box "ring tone mode"
7) click ok, this will ask for a place to save the file to. Then click save
8) close program
9) copy the file you just made to your windows/rings dir.
there you go, a working poly ringtone
PS thanks to sheran_g for the link to the proggy
but somehow the files don't sound good? like the speaker breaks up or something?
Yeah i got the same thing..
they dont sound good and sometimes they are change to a lower Volume very low.
Any Ideas???
:?
yeah me too,
Can anyone (developers included) create a guide to have GOOD sounding polyphonic ringtones on the xda ???
Free Burgers* waiting
*meat flavour
This seems like a shortcoming in the Qtek/XDA. There are only 6 fixed instruments on it. When creating your ringtone, you need to figure out what the instruments are so that you get the best sounding tone. Also, there seems to be no volume regulation so that's why it sounds really bad (as if your speaker is going to blow  )
In my personal opinion, WM2003 midi ringtones have a loooong way to evolve yet.
I use 2 programs from acoustica.com pull out about a 10 second piece of a midi file and convert it to a wma file and then stick that in the rings folder. It's about 12k in size and sounds great! Good luck! - Jim
may one ask what the two programs are you use from accoustica?
I cant find any that say about midi..
cheers,
Ian.

MP3 as ringtone, possible?

Hi,
Is it possible to get mp3s as ringtones to MDA2? For midis, it's only a little plugin, isn't there same kind of plugin for mp3?
edit: Subject updated
ms like to push their WMA so thats the easiest thing to use
you can use a program like CDex which is free to convert mp3 to
wma
Well that might be the easiest way. Anyone have an idea why wma is allowed only as ringtone? It can't be assigned as alarm for example...
yeah it's odd guess they made the addon for rings because people wanted to have odd phone ringtones
and maybe the demand was not big on normal notifications so they dident bother
maybe it'll be in CE 2005 if it's not already supported in 2003SE
It's not supported in 2003 SE, I have installed it on my pda. I was hoping that more formats would be supported but no.. :?
You ca use MP3 for ring tones but you need WM10, In WM2003SE just ver 2.20 have WM10 .
wm10
i have xdaIIi which i was pleasently suprised to find has wm10 - however i can't find a way to use mp3 as ringtone - how is this done?
mp3 set as ring tone
this cab file let you set the mp3 tone as ring tone in your xda just install in your xda and choose your mp3 from the explorer and press with hold you will see in the drop menu set as ring tone.
With the Himalaya device?
Regardless of OS version?
I use caller id version 1.20 (build 18567)... i can assign mp3 ringtone for my contact... but i don't know whether this is because i use wm2003se ver. 2.20 chs or just because of the caller id.
anyone else want to try?
mp3 as ringtone
you can download audacity software, you can edit your favorite mp3 files and set the same as your ringtone....
Can anyone advise?
I've installed EnglishMP3SetRingtone.CAB as recommended on another topic here but am having no luck adding ring tones.
Viewing mp3s stored on my storage card I don't get the option to install as a ringtone by holding down over it.
If I look in the phone settings under system, I can see all the mp3s I have placed in Windows/Rings but if I select one & then press play no sound is heard. The only tone that does work is the default tone? Even stranger the other default tones that were installed on the phone such as bass, old phone & 02 tone are still listed but in the actual win/rings folder have disappeared.
If I go into Phone Contacts & try to assign ringtones for individuals it won't display any mp3s. Is the EnglishMP3SetRingtone.CAB meant to enable this to display MP3s?
This is all happening on an XDA 2i running Win 2nd Edition version 4.21.
Any advice gratefully appreciated.

i cant set mp3 as ringtone
i have execute cab file and add registry to wm registry
can u explaint how to install it ?
Phreakazoidz
O2XDAII
Rom XDA2JoJo+Sim Merged
The problem as I found is to do with either Pocket TV or pocket Divx. Can't remember which but if one of these is installed it stops MP3 as ringtones being displayed once you've installed the .cab.
Other than a hard reset I couldn't find away around it.

Does WM2005 have MP3 ringtone support?

Subject says it all, in case you missed it  :
Does WM2005 have MP3 ringtone support?
yes, it has mp3 ringtone support
i copy song.mp3 to root of storage card/storage/extrom or to My Documents and i can set it as ringtone
Every device that have Windows Media Player 10 have mp3 support.
I have WM2k5 on my XDA, and cant add an MP3 ringtone?
Come'on guys, try to decide. MP3 or not?
Which versions of WM2005 do you have?
How about alert sounds and other voices? Are there possibility for MP3?
Hate that MS policy to push their own formats instead of mainstream..
I can't use MP3 as ringtone (with media player 10)
Subj
But I really wanna use MP3
mp3 works ok for me added in root of sd card
Well from settings>System> Add ring tone you can assain mp3 tone for ring tone and alarm tone. Now I'll cut so of my mp3's and I'll make myself mp3 ring tone.
or you can manually put MP3 files in the \Windows\Rings directory of your device
if u add em to the windows/rings folder then that takes up memory on ur xda, i found that just by having them in the root of the sd card that they appeared in the available ringtones section of phone/options.
so i didnt need to add them, so u can add upto 1 gb of mp3
this was with 1.501 96 2005 btw
guys sorry
I've missed my forum - for blue angel platfrom there are some troubles. you can't choose mp3 from "add ring tone" even after all latest update (WM10)

MDA Message tone

trying to help a friend set a custom message tone for sms, e-mai but cant figure out how. it doesnt work like my dash does where i just stick the file in my documents and select it through sound settings. how you do it on the mda?
\windows\rings
and they have to be in WAV when not a phone ringtone

[Q] Voice recording => Notification sound

Hey is there any quick way to make voice recordings on the tb into notification sounds? My wife wants to record our baby talking and make it as her default text message sound.
Currently what I'm doing is using Miksoft's Mobile AMR Converter to turn it into a wav, then I edit it in Audacity and save it as an mp3, then move it back to my sdcard/media/notifications folder. (Just copying the .amr or converted .wav to the notifications folder doesn't work.)
Not that that process is difficult, but (and I speak for all husbands out there) the fewer steps there are on a honey-do list the more likely I'll actually do it.
Thanks in advance.
