I have a WM6 HTC6800 and am trying to use MobileRegistry Editor to make some mods but I keep getting 'access denied' when changing HKLM values.
Any help would be great?

try using total commander. if it still doesn't work then do a search for sdkcerts.cab and install. then try again.
I had the same problem but PHM registry editor worked fine. I think it's that program that has the problem.
Use DotFred's Task Manager. It comes with a reg editor that is great. Check out the Development and Hacking forum at the top. A must have app

I am using Breaksoft Mobile Registry Editor.
Changing the Battery Icon to hide would not work, Access Denied.
Any TRicks ?
Which rom do you have?
I used resco registry editor without problems on my WWE TyTN.
1.20.161.3
let me try resco everyone always saying good things about it.
Thanks again, Resco works a treat, I like the file explorer too, think I will stick with it.
Registry locked!
Hi
I have a simular problem.. My Hermes (hTC TyTN) allows me to change the registry, but I can't make it remember the settings - when I softreset. But next time I do a softreset it's gone. Also if I install AvantGo it's ok, but I can't start the application, only if I run HTCunlock-application first. If I do a softreset I have to run the unlock-application again!
I use Resco to do regedits..
Strange..
Any ideas for a permanent unlock/unblock is highly appreciated.
Thank you.
Well, there you have it... that's the question, and the answer is obvious.
However, the caveat is not...
Does AEButton save your changes to the registry, or to a DLL?
Can someone tell me how I would go about cooking my personalizations into my ROM?
yes, you need to get the OEM package for it though. I have a lot of packages, but no aebutton.
you can one of two things....
1. learn how to create your own packages. there are a few tutorals here on xda.
2. send me the app and seriall number for activation and I will put one together for ya.

Cody,
thanks for answering, but i think you misunderstood...
I need some help figuring out how to make an OEM that will also set up all of my current button associations. I'm not sure if there's a DLL I need to pull off my phone and overwrite in the cab, or if there are registry entries I need to add to an RGU... I'm hoping someone has that info.
Any help?

The easy way to find your answer is to use a registry compare program... Export your current registry, then change all the button assignments you want changed and then export the registry again. have the program compare the 2..... here's the registry program that I use to compare with... works great.... You should see the differences real easy if they are saved in the registry.....

Thanks. I'll give your program a try.. I've been using windiff, and haven't been able to decipher the gobbledy-gook to figure out which registry entries are changed.
Here is a working AEButtons Plus OEM.
once you try user customization, you will love the flexibility in it. If a new program comes out, you can just uninstall your current version. Or, when you reflash you can just edit your SDconfig.txt
When you cook programs into the rom, you are stuck with that version

Can you tell me how to set up AE button with user customization?
LOL. I forgot about that. yOu have to use the hide and unhide function in UC. It is posted in the UC thread. I'm laughing b/c i just remembered AE button plus gave me the hardest time at first, until I found out about the hide and unhide.
When you install AE button plus, it pulls you up to the program menu screen. That will just freeze User customization. So you have to be in unlock mode. I actually just install AE button plus and .net 3.5 upon start of UC, then I lock the phone and let it do the rest.
AE Button Plus stores its config in AEBPlus.cfg. This stores the button config as well as your registration data. That file needs to be in the same directory the rest of your AE Button plus files are.
EDIT: I have attached the OEM I use for mine. It has my AEBPlus.cfg in it which you will want to overwrite with yours. Otherwise, you will have my config as well as my serial # which is only good for my device.
Thanks guys! you're all awesome.. thanks for the help..
I'm going to try to cook AE into my next rom.. with that success, I think I'm only 1-2 steps away from having PERFECTION on my phone... haha
Hello all!
I have a few things I'd last to ask, maybe someone could point me in the right direction (I searched for them). I've cooked several several ROM's now, and want to get into more advanced tweaking.
I want to continue:
Learning about how to implement registry tweaks before installation
Learning how to set a default theme (tsk) for ROM
Learning how to map functions/buttons (start menu, ok button, other WM functions) to the keypad (via registry?)
Thank you pros!
Learning about how to implement registry tweaks before installation - provxml
Learning how to set a default theme (tsk) for ROM - depends on what you use for autorun
Learning how to map functions/buttons (start menu, ok button, other WM functions) to the keypad (via registry?) - yes reg settings
Check this tutorial for cooking in reg settings; with the newer kitchens, you put the reg keys into the app.reg files instead of .rgus, but it's all the same idea. There's another tutorial in the same forum on cooking in files, and it's also well worth reading.
To find reg settings, it's easiest to first dump your registry, then make a change that will appear in the registry, then dump the registry again. Copy both reg files to your desktop and compare them with Windiff or Beyond Compare, and find out where changes occurred (ignore stuff like the time). If you want reg settings for cabs you've installed, then I'd suggest using sk tools and opening the 'installed programs' tool. Do a deep scan, and check out all of the registry settings for the program. You can also use SK Tracker to pretty much find anything you want; it's similar (but better) to the windiff method, except it does it on your ppc and it also finds changed in files and databases that occur when you make settings changes to your device.
got my s740 from work, but it is locked so I Can't install any programs on it.. any way to fix it? Tried some of the other threads in here but couldn't find anything that helps :/
Tried calling htc support, but they werent very supportive...
The error message I get "translated": You don't have permission to do this. That is when trying to run a cab file on the phone.
Maybe I can format the phone in some way and reinstall WM without the settings from work?
If anyone can help in any way I'd be very happy
have you tried Removing the Application Lock on HTC s740 Smartphone?
The same problem
Security removig tool from Modaco installed but nothing changed. If I try to install PHM Registry Editor - still saying "Installation of bla-bla-bla was unsuccessful. The installatioin file is not intended for this devise." The only program that was installed for registry editing was SmartReg. But this software can't make any changes in registry. Read olny or something

Thanks god! And thanks komunistvb Programs still don't want to install but at least registry key in Policies changed. Will make HardSPL and install some other ROM.
I have been using S740 for mainly GPS and I was wondering, is there any way to edit the applications that open up at start up?
I have Garmin Mobile XT for this phone so when ever I switch on my phone, I want this application to startup immediately.
I have searched google on how to but it couldn't help me. All I know is that I will have to play a bit with the registry in order to do that. I have Resco explorer with me so anyone can help me out?
Thanks
Application to edit startup : http://www.fewbits.com/startmgr/
You can just use any kind of file explorer and add Garmin's shortcut at the "startup" folder ( \Windows\StartUp )....
The best file explorer I can suggest you is "TotalCommander" : http://www.ghisler.com/smartphone.htm
Good luck
Thanks for the reply, sasiskas. I will try this out tomorrow and post how it performs
Great software, Startup Manager works great. I could add my program easily. Thanks again. But I am facing one problem. The SMS/MMS Window pops up after I switch on my phone. How do I remove that? And also I don't use a sim card for this phone so I also get a notification for SIM Failure at start-up. How do I remove that too?
"tmail.exe" is responsible for your sms/mms window...Try to find it using the program I told you...check everywere(when in the program press "menu"-startup/services/user notification)
As for the sim Failure I don't know...probably you will find it if you look in "menu-user notifications" in the program.
If you can't find anything there...then try downloading SKTools and go to "maintenance-windows startup"
Thanks again, sasiskas. But my ActiveSync says now failed to connect. Due to this I'm unable to install SKTools

what did you edit?
If you go to communication manager-connection there is an option that allows your device to work as a flash drive..do that and then move the sktools.cab file to your device and then from the device execute it.
