hi everybody just ahave a special request that can be cool if someone can do that
wm6 support many resolution higher than 640x480 like on toshiba G900 (WVGA)
so i wonder if it's possible to make wm6 to run on this kind of resolution on tv out (vga cable) ????

My understanding is that the XDA2 BackPack has a TV output of 640x480 pixels, which compared to full PAL resolution of 720x576 (or 720x480 NTSC) isn't that far off.
I can encode a full length DivX movie from a DVD at 640x480 and it will fix on my soon to arrive 1GB Secure Digital card quite easily at superb quality. What I'm thinking is, will I be able to output from the XDA2, using the backpack, to the TV, and play a 640x480 DivX movie streaming from the XDA2? Or is the TV output restricted to applications that support it only? (Such as Powerpoint, etc)
Are you sure the XDA II can play a 640x480 movie smoothly?
Not at all; after creating this topic I've read multiple times that the XDA2 outputs 2-5fps via the backpack - I guess it only needs to create an output at that frequency when working with powerpoint presentations.
A little disappointing for a 400MHz processor, but I suppose it all comes down to the GPU, or lack of...
ya... I was looking at some benchmarks for the h6300 which included the XDA II; needless to say, the XDA II didn't do too well in the graphics benchmarks
Url ?
I think those graphic benchmarks focus on applications or games, otherwise I can't explain why the xda II is always getting bad marks. We shouldn't forget that the ati imageon chip is designed exactly for playing mpeg4, and if you got players like BetaPlayer you can see the difference when you switch the ati support on and off.
If the video is not much larger than 320x240, it can be downsized and is still running smoothly on the display. Sadly you have to reencode your movies, but it only takes one hour or so in virtual dub.
Now I think your 1 GB storage card won't be very useful when it comes to movies...
Another thing, I'm not entirely sure but I suspect the speed of the sd slot isn't fast enough to play movies beyond 800 kBit or so. So even if the cpu/gpu was fast enough, there would be no way to play most movies with variable bitrate, occasionally exceeding lets say 1200 kbit.
For those reasons, I think even if the backpack did it, I don't think you could watch movies on a big screen.
However, it's disappointing if even the 320x240 don't work, which run smoothly on the ppc display and are comparable to vhs quality. I can't test it but I get this impression from what I read here.
so is the backpack not a good investment if i wana play some videos on a tv/monitor? dose wmv make any diffrence? and would it work better on a xda 3? sounds silly but @ £60+ i wana know what ill be getting.

Hi,
My Qtek 2020 had a camera resolution of 1280x1024 (1.3 MP) before upgrade to WM5. Now I can have only 640x480 max resolution.
I am so happy of WM5 that I don't want to downgrade just for the camera.
Can anybody provide a better camera driver to have full benefit of my hardware?
Thanks a lot.
Izi Doenyas
QTek 2020 have 1,3MPx camera????
According to the specs I found, 2020 has a VGA camera and 2020i has 1.3MP camera. So, you should be right.
Also according to the same specs my phone is 2020 (the CPU is Intel PXA263 400Mhz). But I know definitly that before the upgrade I took some pictures with 1280x960 resolution.
NOW I NOTICE that my phone had also built-in handsfree but now I see that the "Turn Hands-free On" option in the pop up menue of the phone is disabled.
Hey all, I'm getting a Hero soon and I want to know if there's a way to change the resolution of the Hero?
I now own a HTC Diamond2 which is almost 1:1 to the Hero hardware and it uses a 480 x 800 resolution.
And now since Android 2.0 is out it supports bigger resolutions... so the question is - is it possible to change Hero's 320 x 480 resolution to 480 x 800?
Hello,
I just bought a new VW beetle, but my friend has a Porsche. Is there any way to make my VW run 300kph like the Porsche does?
OP, I hope this is a joke. For your sake, and humanity's.
no problem, just put the diamond on top of the hero and push really hard.
you can also use your fullhd tv to get fullhd on the hero, but you need really high pressure then...
lol this made my day...

****ing hell guys... A little harsh? He was only asking a simple question.
The answer is no, unfortunately the screen itself is different to the Diamonds and won't support the higher resolution.

Thanks for the answer. I just thought it's up to the software/OS...
the dimond is not 480x800
it is 480x640
But he wrote Diamond 2, so 480*800 is right.
Just FYI, LCD displays (and all flat displays regardless of type) cannot magically add resolution to themselves.
An LCD screen is a grid of lights. With a 480x800 LCD, there is a grid of 384,000 extremely small light bulbs, arranged in a grid 480 lights wide and 800 lights high. If you give the screen anything more or less than a 480x800 picture, it will convert the picture into 480x800, losing detail in the process.
In televisions, a 720p television (1280x720) can still accept a 1080p picture (1920x1080); it has hardware that will convert the image to the right resolution. If you bought a 1080p television instead, it would display the picture as intended.
I hope that, now you know how LCDs work, that you know how much of an idiot you made yourself look. No offence. We all have to laugh at ourselves sometimes.
Hey guys,
I have been researching this for a week at least, and eventually decided I wanted to be able to output video from my Note II to my HDMI products and my VGA projector. Now I have run into a somewhat small problem.
The MHL -> HDMI Cable Matters Gold Plated Premium MHL to HDMI Cable for Samsung Galaxy SIII & Galaxy Note 2 in Black - 6ft works perfectly alone
and the HDMI -> VGA Cable Matters Gold Plated Premium HDMI to VGA M/F Active Adapter in Black - also works perfectly alone
But when I connect them together using Female HDMI coupler it only outputs 640x480 60hz . I tested it with my projector and my ASUS monitor. I even tested just the coupler and worked fine.
Anyone have suggestions? I am running CleanAce 4.6 Rom rooted.
Summary: from Note II output from MHL to HDMI to VGA only outputs 640x480 60hz resolution
(on a side note i just ordered a micro hdmi to hdmi cable for my old droid x to see how that fares with the hdmi-vga adapter.)
standard VGA resolutions are 4:3 i.e. 640x480, 800x600, 1024x768, etc. The video card in your Note II is sending on 720p which is 1280x720, which is not a standard VGA resolution, so it downscales to lowest supported *standard* resolution because HDMI does not support analog at all. This is typical behavior with a passive adapter. With that said, 720p over VGA *is* possible, but I think I would try a different approach, such as a Monoprice MHL-to-VGA adapter.
Also, using premium cables i.e. "Gold" for digital signals such as HDMI have absolutely no benefit. These types of cables became popular in the analog days by audiophiles, and they do help to prevent the degradation of analog signals, but not by a huge factor. Of course these companies that sell "Gold" HDMI cables know they are selling snake oil, but consumer don't seem to notice.

Thanks for the info, in my opinion I think combining the adapters is blocking some function that checks back for resolution info. Anyway I totally agree with you on the cable premium stuff, I wanted to slap my parents when I learned their home theater system was put together with monster cables T_T. I just got the cords that were prime eligible and decently priced. Went for same brands hoping they might be more compatible.
Has anyone got experience of this? I have a cheap one which is working well. However the output is only 640*480. It says 1080p, but I'm assuming that's the 'input' resolution. What I'd really like it's an output of 1280*760 or better.
Has anyone got a slimport to VGA that's running better than 640*480?

Wow, I haven't seen or used VGA over a decade, but to my knowledge it is limited to a hard 640x480 pixels and 256 colors. I believe you'll only find it used on old security camera systems. If you are down-converting a digital 1920x1080 resolution to VGA, prepare yourself for a 4:3 horrific image.
Is the connector using a 15-pin D-Sub? If so, it may be possible to use a higher resolution than the VGA standard. Link me to the cable you bought and I'll try to help you out further.

By saying VGA I guess OP meant D-Sub (at least that's what we often call it in Poland) and it should easily work with FHD resolution.
Back to the topic - no idea
Yes, VGA is working with FullHD and 32bit colors.

Ah, then the question makes more sense. My fault.
The VGA Connector (aka DE-15) is able to handle up to a 2048x1536 resolution. The G3 should default to 1920x1080 depending on the cable. Wanna link us to the cable you bought, OP?
Yes that's right I meant the 15 pin connector, not VGA resolution.
Here is what I bought http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&id=231790943312&alt=web
I cannot see another one anywhere that looks like (in description) that it would be any different.
My monitor information tells me the resolution that it's running at.
Thanks for thoughts so far

Okay, I assume that either no one uses VGA connector or it only runs at VGA resolution. Shame.
