Mini SD cards above 2GB are split as Pure Mini SD and SD-High Capacity(SDHC).
Most of the Pure Mini SD (i.e Non SDHC) cards are OBSERVED to be working with all the G3 and G4 wizards of all tht HTxxx series. ( s/n can be found below the IMEI no.)
OBSERVED means >>>>Posts on the forums of XDA devs and Howard Forums.
All u need is a Non SDHC MINI SD card.

I mean I have lost everything from my SD 256MB lexar card - some vital data and some mp3, family pictures etc ... all of varoius size, hmmm
1. Flash Format v2.60 from CNetX has:
- some problems with formatting SD card
- then after card -reinsert it has formatted it FAT32, 512 sector size parameters
- all verify+ repair operations executed flawlessly afterwards
2. I have received XDA that has been flashed with WM 2003 from T-Mobile (marked test only - not for sale, but in my humble view it does not matter)

does anyone has an idea as to what to do to stop self-format SD card ?? is that a faulty SD card or something messed up with the OS ??

I read many posts regarding this issue and mostly related to TMO pre release ROM ugrades including 4.00.21. Why don't you upgrade to the latest official release 4.01.00 Maybe this issue is solved.

1. I do have apparently US version of XDA as it has dual band 900/1900 :? and that makes me think before flashing the unit with an english but UK version ... unless it is harmless :?: so the question is - is it going to work ?? even when I decide to visit US sometime next year
2. does it mean that pre-release version of T-mobile ROM which I have makes some SD work and some don't ?? my other card seems to work fine ... I am getting confused :wink:

if your network supports 900 MHz, OR your XDA have the 900/1800 radio option (GSM menu ... power + soft reset then calendar button) then it's likely that you can use your XDA with any RSU supported by your network.

Yes, I tested it my self but not for so long tho ... and I didn't face any problems. You can get ROM 4.00.21 and O2 RSU 4.21 from www.yorch.net

16MB SD card didn't fail to operate for over 48hours
I still havent't made up my mind to upgrade to the most recent software, mostly due to being afraid of loosing my piece of investment, heh

I have locked my 256MB SD card .... no content has been missing since then ... hurrrrrrrra !!!! 8)
seems like my problem is solved for now, at least until .. new and official T-mobile US ROM upgrade WM2003 arrives

Interesting... Would be great if we can use SDHC cards in our Prophets.
WM6 and bigger storage cards prolonges its life substantially IMHO.
Unfortunately I don't have a card to test... Anyone??

i have tested yesterday one toshiba 4gb...no the phone doesn't recognised it.there was some sdhc driver for wm6 in forum,try to search for it.
prophet ... sdhc = doesnt work :-> no driver in the moment!

Yes I do know the difference, reason i posted was to point others to this solution in case they didn't know there are working SD 4GB cards available in stead of waiting for sdhc support

1. May be I should mention again here.... prophet supports 4GB NON-SDHC (only SD )cards only @ the moment.
2. SDHC.... no clue yet ( I did try all SDHC drivers in this forum)..... if you guys wanna try, just simply go ahead wth a hardreset prepared.

use the search funktion for "unlocking" and "ROM" here in the Hermes section.
You will find Threads to unlock your device and you will find available ROMs to flash your Hermes.
For example this:

Won an auction for an Orange SPV M3100 on ebay, and plan to use it with Three Uk sim card, and if poss debranding it would be good.
If you flash your HTC Hermes will it still retain all functionality included in the branded rom?!

It will retain the functionality that is not dependant on provider's apps. So it means that settings for Orange MMS, Orange theme with Orange today plugin will be gone. This can however be installed back (you can download those files in extracted EXT ROMS part of Hermes wiki).
Free Hermes unlocker will unlock the Hermes for other carriers too. It can be found in Hermes upgrading forum.

So for example if I install Black Satin WM6 upgrade, will I have all functionality such as video calling, internet (3G & Wifi), mms, camera etc all working as intended with the phones original WM5 Orange branded rom?
The unlocking part sounds easy enough, I downloaded Hermes SIM CID unlock v3a I read the instructions whch say connect via activesync and run the '.bat' file. Should this take long? Should have the phone by Thursday hopefully so would like to know what to do in advance so I can get it ready for my 3 Uk sim.
I have a HTC 8525 and 2G Micro - SD, If I buy a 8G Micro - SDHC works fine?

It should, if you have an install of WM6.
WM6 on the hermes has the drivers for the card reader and SHDC support included.
i have a softbank x01ht running shaps 3.54b version of windows.
will i need to install the driver to have large sd support or am i good to go ?
