PocketCM Keyboard or .... - JAMin, XDA Neo, S200 ROM Development

take a look at this...started to use it in my prophet. Love it.

http://www.cootek.com/download.html
Happy trying...

both are cool & innovative. i don't use t9/predictive text at all, so any would do. using pocketcm kb atm, will try touchpal as well
thanks for the heads up

While PocketCM is great, Touchpal is really amazing once you learn it. These two are simply the best SIPs ever!

both are good SIPs.
For those who are using PocketCM Contact, TouchPal will not work for you. PocketCM Keyboard will. This is one reason why I use PocketCM Keyboard.
Otherwise, love Touchpal's flexibility.

Yes. For those who love Touchpal, please download before 7th Dec. Personally I like to use TouchPal but.....memory consumption is slightly higher than PocketCM keyboard.
Currently using Mysterious 1.0. Before installing TouchPal the free memory was 25mb and after is 23mb the highest. For your info, touchpal is the only "third party" software added to my PDA.

[Q] best keyboard for hd2

I am trying to find a really good software keyboard for my hd2. one that is much smoother and faster than the hd2 made one. anybody have any ideas?
I've tried many: cliquick, finger keyboard, swype, slideit, resco keyboard, spb keyboard - each one has advantages - concerning type speed or available languages, or size of buttons etc. But I finally stayed at the default HTC keyboard with reduced screen sensitivity (through BsB tweaks) and I've used to type quite fast. It just takes some time and training especially if you've used to a resistive screen device.
Ye, default HTC kbd is good enough

default keyboard is so terribly innacurate, but I have found perfect solution which works for me, I can type faster with less mistakes, that's all I need

I am using first version "Edit Kb by boogiecornejo.cab" which is GTX theme, but there are already some updates, therefore introduction is a littlebit confused

if the stock keyboard is inaccurate it might be your screen...
OP, I prefer swype. Force yourself to use it for a couple of days and you won't go back.
best is the default keyboard, but try the registry edits/cab ...21,91 and 108 given in leo registry tweaks.thread (sticky)

There is nothing special with my screen, because when I am using Android it is without problems, and the same is with keyboard replacement, because touch area for the keys is redefined.
The problem here is just simple design of the default keyboard and hypersensitivity, so something from area such as WM touch drivers and HTC keyboard. But that's another story

Best android keyboard

I'm a massive phone texter and am having trouble finding a good easy to use keyboard and was just wondering if anyone had any suggestions
Thanks

I've tried Swype, HTC's default, Swiftkey (paid) and few others. By far and away, my favorite keyboard is the Gingerbread (Android 2.3 default) keyboard.
+1 Gingerbread Keyboard
- HTC Evo 4G
I have fully tested the Desire Z and despite has a small keyboard it´s better than any on-screen keyboard.
If you don´t have big fingers will be perfect
I'm currently using better keyboard 8 but still not too satisfactory

That I can understand
I couldn't get on with the basic android keyboard (it's like the WP7 keyboard) missing numbers off the top row etc so installed swype, and while the numbers are in the wrong place, it did make typing easier, especially when on the move.
Much as I like the Sense keyboard I think I'm going to go back to swype simply for ease of use.
I've tested a few and Swype is by far my favorite. Swype is other keyboards as T9 was to the regular ABC input.
Has anyone tried 'thumb keyboard'?

I concur, although it took some getting used to coming from HTC's version. Once I disabled the speech input to get my comma back I was happy.
Gingerbread Keyboard > All.
I love the Gingerbread keyboard; that and smart keyboard pro for all of the customizations you have with it.
Using Ginger right now on my Nexis and love it though.
Swype is by far the best. Took some time getting used to but it's much faster I find than regular typing
I'm totally clumsy with any keyboard i use so i just go with whatever looks best
I have adjusted to Swype by now and am pretty fast....plus I am not in a habit of forgetting spellings due to shortening to words!
Guys, does anybody know a keyboard that works like old phones with a keypad on them? Where it had 1-9 and letters on them. If you tap twice on 2 you get B, tap three on 6 and you'd get O etc.

IMHO gingerbread keyboard is the best
What makes the gingerbread keyboard the best?
It doesn't look much different to the froyo keyboard, other than having numbers along the top row?
I'm a big time texter, probably 3000+ texts per month, and using Swype changed my life. (sounds like those cheesy commercials lmao)
I use the better keyboard 8, as well.
Recently just flashed a ROM onto my phone and it has gingerbread keyboard on it, so i'm mixed between the two. Gingerbread seems a lot more responsive.
When I've used Gingerbread ROM's I've enjoyed the keyboard. Only if it would have easy access to function keys(colons etc.), I'd love it. Hated it at the start, but it grew on me a lot.

Swype

Just started using Swype. The standard keyboard is OK, and way more responsive than my old HTC Touch HD. But man Swype is good. Can type messages and emails much faster than I normally can manage.
Just thought I'd mention it in case nobody has seen/heard of it.
Can find out more here - http://www.swype.com
Cheers

It really is the dogs cogs isn't it! I started off using SlideIT before they released Swype Beta.. didn't like swype at first.. but now I know how to use it.. I couldn't live without it!.. I was using it for ages before I realised that you can swype from the swype key to the "sym" key to bring up the direction and text editing keys...
Didn't know that about the text editing and direction keys. Cheers!

1GHz CPU, Android, capacitive screen vs 528MHz, WinMo6 and a resistive screen - no contest
Swype's pretty awesome but I personally settled on Ultra Keyboard because I was used to the half-qwerty from my Touch HD.
Ultra Keyboard combines the two as well as giving you control over the size of the keys and a whole load of other options.
Speaking of awesome and intuitive keyboards, does anyone know what happenned with Blind Type? I remember hearing something about google buying it up (i THINK i remember that, anyway) and had pressumed that maybe it would be incorporated into a future model of Android, probably 2.3. Now I'm running on 2.3 and have heard nothing of Blind Type since then, I'm just wondering if anyone has any idea?
Definitely the best keyboard i've tried so far is SwiftKey, even better and Swype (i have them both).
Another vote here for swiftkey, the predictive text (once it's trawled through your old texts and emails) is nothing short of amazing.
Although the way it can actually predict the next word after you finish the current one is a little scary/depressing. Am i really *that* predictable?
I had installed swype on my xperia arc and tried it out for sometime. I was not happy or rather felt that the original default kb was better. I uninstalled swype. There was a different keyboard then instead of the original gingerbread one. I had to then do a factory reset to get back the original kb
Sent from my LT15i using XDA Premium App
i never got used to swype i prefer standard Gingerbread keyboard. was upset it wasn't included with the arc, but you can find the apk here on xda
Or you can just download the Gingerbread keyboard from the market for free.
i bought swiftkey and tried it for a week but sadly it did not seem to predict very well for me.. swype is much faster for me, even if i'm just typing not swyping. i'm always hitting the wrong keys with swiftkey.
I use SlideIT now for a long time, it is personal of course, but for me its perfect.

Agree
I am on the latest beta for Swype and have to agree its pretty awesome! +1
Nice, thx!
I use ultra keyboard. Unfortunately it mixes up multitouch keystrokes (registers on key release). FlexT9 is also nice, and it does correct multitouch recognition plus excellent speech recognition (Dragon dictate)
But ultra has nicer option buttons right there in the prediction area, with inline translation, copy paste etc, and better correction after mistakes. Biggest gripe is the incomplete dictionary, no auto training/learning on email sms, bad capital recognition (problem in German mainly). Nevertheless, overall best keyboard so far that I came across.
SlideIT cannot do multitouch at all, bummer, otherwise very good as well.
My friend introduced me to the Swype but I was quite content with the existing ones. May try it later.
definitely recommend swype! ben using it since my X1i
Swyped from my LT15i-Arc
I'm looking for SWYPE for Xperia neo. Can anyone help please?
@enboug
Get the latest Swype 3.0 beta here.
@ all
I would definitely recommend Swype to everyone. It's a no brainer! Why type when you can Swype?
And here are 7 Swype keyboard tips for better Swyping. It's definitely going to make your swyping experience better.
My only gripe with it is that I don't know how to insert a new line. All I see is a smiley button instead of the enter button.
EDIT: The smiley button is only there in the default messaging app. In other programs, it shows the enter key.

Best keyboard for S2

Hey all
I recently upgraded to the galaxy s2 from the HTC desire and just cant get used to the galaxy s2 keyboard. I used the HTC_IME mod keyboard on the desire and loved it, and am wondering if there is a similar one of the desire or what the best alternative is. the htc_ime mod does install on the galaxy s2, but it keeps hanging and make a few apps crash, so not really usable
The main thing i liked about it was that it could quickly remember thing like emails (which contain an _ and an @ (obviously) )
Ive added the email to the dictionary, but as the second letter is an underscore, there doesnt seem to be a quick way to get it to 'recommend it' onscreen without typing out the whole thing
Any ideas/suggestions?
i like stock samsung or Swipe
SlideIT

in my opinion A.I.type keyboard is the best for me.
Hey mate, I am from the desire also. I used the stock gingerbread on my desire, it was my favourite KB, although the size is terrible on SGS2 so I use HTC_IME mod and works a treat ;-)
I hate stock samsung keyboard and use smart keyboard instead for typing. Anyway I recently started using swype, at the beginning I hated it but now I don't using anything else since it's by far the fastest method for me, it just takes time getting used to (not more than a couple hours anyway). So my suggestion: give swype a try, I don't think you'll regret it.

I can use HTC_IME mod for some things, but it wont work on the stock email app (the one with the red stamp on the icon) and seems to freeze every so often an d stop the touch screen from detecting anything for a few seconds. Thats why im looking to change
I don't like the stock keyboard. I think it's too "stock" I don't like Swipe too. I'm using SwiftKey X and I like it.
Plenty of options, SwiftKey X, TouchPal, Better keyboard, and loads more.
I've tried most and TouchPal is very decent for a beta but always come back to SwiftKey as its prediction is extremely well and I like the way it learns words. New update due today should make it better. Free version already updated though so give it a try for a month.
Although it doesn't have that many options compared to others in the market.

Ditto !!!!
Depends on the user. If he/she like click typing keyboard then SwiftKey, Big Button, A.I.Type keyboard, but users like me, who loves Swype, could try SlideIT and TouchPal. But TouchPal is the best IMO. Still it has some bugs.
All I can say that the default Swype is a PITA. Least the one I used, 2.72, can't say about the newer version however.
New update is now out for paid users, finally got it updated let's see how much better this is. A.I type is also very good. Quite a vast choice now for users depending on what they want.

Swiftkey X is awesome, best predictions i've seen on any keyboard.
Trust me mate, I've tried them all, and ALWAYS come back to swift key...
Awesome prediction, I feel like it's reading my ****ing mind...

I would say it's all Down to personal preference, for me its smart keyboard pro. O can never get the hang of swype lol.

I'm not objective (being the developer) but I recommend A.I.type
Give it a try!
A.I.type Keyboard Plus (paid) or A.I.type Keyboard Beta (beta is over but we keep it on the market for now).
i'm using better keyboard
I find Siwftkey X is the best for speed, easily deleting unwanted suggested words, auto corrections and predictions for all the normal keyboards I have used. I started to like AI type keyboard until I realised it wasn't as good at the predicitons, autocorrect and removing suggested words... Shame because it had its pros as well.
swift key x without a doubt. the prediction as others have mentioned is top notch. it learns fast, looks nice, and works really well. (I have tried swype, stock, GO keyboard)
Touchpal FTW
Touchpal all the way, but for some reason its not working on the new Revolt update.... help?

[Q] Best keyboard app for Legend

I have problems writing text messages on my Legend (lots of mistypes). Of course main reason is small screen. Does anyone have suggestion which keyboard app is best for HTC legend?
Thanks in advance.
Swype. It's like autocorrect in a keyboard. Although I think it's only a closed-beta at the moment, so apply on their website!
Next up, I like HTC_IME for its customization and well-developed dictionary. You could type the worst misspelling ever and it will find it and correct it. It's somewhere around XDA.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=868131
And then lastly, I like the stock Gingerbread keyboard found in CM7, or another 2.3 ROM. If you don't have it, (like Sense too much?), download a similar one from the Market, such as Perfect Keyboard Free or Gingerbread Keyboard.
Thanks for reply. I have been using Smart Keyboard, but I will try Swype.
I'll stick with SwiftKey X, because of the Good dictionary, prediction and learning sentences you type. Sometimes I get a whole bunch of words out by pressing space only!

I bought SwiftkeyX Keyboard. The Swipe input is not for me.

I just installed TouchPal. Works for me. It is free!

I decreased the hight of the keys to see some more of the screen while typing. IF you used swiftkey for a while the autocorrection saves an huge amount of time.
Additional swiftkey has a funktion to detect where you hit the screen when you want to type a letter. This can increase your typing-speed too. See here w*w.swiftkey.net/swiftkey-x-update-brings-blog-learning-heatmaps-and-more
I use SlideIT keyboard on my Legend, got it when Google had the 0.10 cent apps. Great keyboard.
