Install the cab. file and restart your PPC then enjoy!
Yep,
that did the trick! Thanks a lot!
UPDATE:
That did the trick under WM6 but what would I have to do under WM5 AKU3.3?
Can anybody tell me what particular file I would have to manipulate in order to get the blue symbols on top of the letters work right?

To change the operator ID:
1. Click on the Address menu item then click on Goto.
2. In the window that is displayed, ensure decimal and absolute are selected, type 74 into the entry field then click OK. This will position you at the operator string location.
3. Using either character entry on the right or hex entry on the left, enter the operator string device should be (or what you want it to be Smile ). Note that any non-used character positions should be edited to contain null (0x00) which can only be entered in the left hand side of the window.
To change the language ID:
1. Again, click on the Address menu item then click on Goto.
2. In the window that is displayed, ensure decimal and absolute are selected, type 94 into the entry field then click OK. This will position you at the language string location.
3. Using either character entry on the right or hex entry on the left, enter the language string your device should be. Again, any non-used character positions should be edited to contain null (0x00) which can only be entered in the left hand side of the window.

Have tried messing with the backlight settings in the control control, no good
I have tried the tomtom backlight fix, installed the dll, run the setup, says copied shortcut, the shortcut is there with no icon, when i run it, nothing happens
Does any one else have any more ideas otherwise i will have to reflash my xda2 back to 2003 Sad

Rik.
my backlight is fine wiv mine while using tomtom but it just leaves the blacklight and screen setting to neva timeout when i close it
Can i ask what settings you are using and how did you install it
thanks
final solution to tomtom5 backlight problem
Hello,
I was sick of using the regeditor to fix the messed up backlight settings everytime I started TomTom5, so I looked for a better solution.
I figured it would be the best if TomTom wouldnt mess with the settings
at all, so I changed the binary. it is not very hard to do.
copy the TomTom Navigator.exe to you windows pc.
grab a hex editor and change the following
0x182b9c 0x61 -> 0x62
0x182c0c 0x61 -> 0x62
0x182c3c 0x61 -> 0x62
0x182ca0 0x61 -> 0x62
what this does is change all the Registry Paths
ControlPanel\Backlight
to
ControlPanel\Bbcklight
as the result, TomTom will not be able to modify the settings at all.
everything will stay with your default values.
have fun
thanks man, that actually worked !
wow
Great works a treat.. Just search for backlight and change it with a hex editor... Fantastic... Thanks
Re: final solution to tomtom5 backlight problem
This is right:
0x182bC9 0x61 -> 0x62
0x182c0c 0x61 -> 0x62
0x182c3c 0x61 -> 0x62
0x182ca0 0x61 -> 0x62

I used a "HHD Software Free Hex Editor" but can’t find this numbers to edit
This newbie (no program experience) need some help...pleazzzz
in my case 0x182bc9 value is 00 and 0x182b9c is 69. How can this be ? I changed both of them to 61 (in 2 different files, mind you) and they both work, allthough the latter crashed a few times.
@ postman : I used xvi32 from this site, no programming experience either. I just opened navigator.exe, went to the mentioned addresses and changed the numbers. Seems to work..........
thanks pleun, i will try and let you know.
other question: i see that u use the 1.60
and i use the 1.50i(64) i did that just for more space
wat works best with tomtom5? the 150 or the 160?
don't know, never used 1.50. I got plenty space on the SD card
thanx for the tip works great !
I downloaded the XVI32, opened the tomtom navigator.exe
And search for the mention files, but no result, can’t find anything
See attachment
use address and goto, not search
Thanks pleun,
I edit the 4 items and change them to 62
0x182bc9
0x182c0c
0x182c3c
0x182ca0
But the tomtomt will NOT start
...did I forget something?
I assume you saved the file after you edited it and copied it back to the correct location on the pda ?
yes, edit the 4 files and saved it to the exact same name as bevore and reload the exe to the same place on the mda2
i edit only the 0x182bc9 and not the ...9C
is that the problem?
well try to leave c9 as it is and edit 9c. Both of them work on my MDA but you never know. You can also email me the .exe and I'll try it on my device.

thanks pleun (and all who helps)
IT WORKS!!!
2 Questions left
1) is it also posible to create a shot cut to "today"
i have to browse to the program files
2) i have copy the data05.chk, data14 and data16.vif, but no dutch (bart) voice
any advice?
Has anyone tried the keyboard hack on the after changing the Softbank X01HT to English?
I successfully flashed the JASJAM_WWE_1.20.305.3_1.20.305.104_1.07.03.10_ship ROMs and also loaded the Softbank Extended ROMS
The I followed each of the registry hacks for the Hermes shown here:
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Hermes_Registry
From the microsoft page the code for English (United States) = 0x0409 (Hex)
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Keybd] "Locale"= 0409 (Hex, not String)
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Oem\Qwerty] "Layout"= 20409 (Hex)
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\keyboard layout\Preload] "Default"= e0010409 (Hex)
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\keyboard layout\Preload\1] "Default"= e0010409 (Hex)
Did I do it correctly? The letters are all fine, but the punctuation is mixed up.
TIA
You are in the corect place for the reg change, all you would need to change is the value to 0411 for a Japanese keyboard since your unit has a Japanese key board.

softbank has made their own key layout, and they have swapped "." and "," from the normal japanese key layout (docomo layout.)
it's not 0411, and the layout is not implemented in any other roms.
anyway, use 0411, and swap "." and "," in your mind;-)
dooh! I guess it should have been obvious that the locale goes to the keyboard.
Now that I have this fixed, along with my BT headset issue, I have a full-fledged English language Softbank X01HT.
Thanks to all!
I just upgraded to WM6 and am having a problem getting punctuation to work - I'm using the SoftBank X01HT and have made all the required registry changes to 411, but the following key keeps reverting to 409 after each reboot:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Oem\Qwerty] "Layout"= 20409 (Hex)
Is there a way to fix this?
Thanks!

I have the same phone and I'm running WM6. When I make the reg changes I found just soft reset does not do the trick. You actually need to shut it down and then power it on again for the reg changes to stick. Also check that you regedit tool is saving your changes.
I have been thru this alot of times so I know it works properly.
Fantastic - it worked! Thanks so much for the quick help!
Yep, turn the phone off by holding down the power key and then clicking yes. When you push the power key, the phone will write the RAM buffer out to ROM. If you just soft-reset without turning the phone off first, the changes you just made may not be written out before the phone resets, so you'll have the old setting(s).
Technically, you can push the power off button, wait a little bit and then push the soft-reset button. The phone will write the buffer out to ROM when it goes to low-power suspend mode (where the keys are locked and the screen shuts down). I just turn it off completely though by holding down the power button.

mixersoft,
If you still want to fix "." and "," and make their placements correct, I hear that changing to this will do the trick.
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Oem\Qwerty] "Layout"= 30411 (Hexadecimal base)
But in order to do this, you will have to upgrade your rom to any newer rom than the one you are running such as i-mate 1.31.305.103 or later. Your i-mate 1.20.305.3 doesn't take 30411.
I haven't tried this myself as I use periods more than commas and it is more convenient for me just as is.
Nicely done in my Softbank X01HT
Hi,
I bought a Softbank X01HT. The symbolic keys on the left portions were not appearing as it is displayed on the keypad. And "," altered with "." Finally the modification of reg keys fixed the problem successfully.
The right modifications are:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Keybd] "Locale"= 0411 (Hex, not String)
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Oem\Qwerty] "Layout"= 30411 (Hex)
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\keyboard layout\Preload] "Default"= e0010409 (Hex)
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\keyboard layout\Preload\1] "Default"= e0010409 (Hex)
Cheers
Cab version
Why not run this cab file?
Quakie
(Upped from Tytn via Opera Mini 4.1)
why do the registry change? why not just use Schaps adv config to change the keyboard to japanese? this way you get to keep your "auto words" (the 4 choices that pop up for words)
I'm using pArtizAn's WM 6.1 Pro Rom, but this amazing Rom only supports xt9 for Russian and English. I'm a German and writing SMS without t9 really sucks!
So I was looking for a Language Pack like they exist for the Standard-Roms.
I found this Language Pack from MoDaCo. I installed it and - contrary to all other exisiting Language Packs - the t9-key was working and I was able to write with the dictionary, but the keymapping was totally mixed up!
Eg. my Hardware-Button 2 was mapped to 1, e & r (so if I wanted to type an r in the ABC-Mode, I had to press the HardwareButton 2 twice !)
Or if I wanted to write "test" with dictionary I had to press 3,2,6,3 instead of 8,3,7,8!
So I tried to copy only the 2 Files "hpd.5x4.German.kdb" & "DElsUN_xt9.ldb" from the cab to my windows-dir and I modified/created this 3 registryvalues:
"HKLM\Software\Tegic\eT9\IME\KDbFiles\0607" value = "hpd.5x4.German.kdb"
"HKLM\Software\Tegic\eT9\LdbFiles\0107" value = "DElsUN_xt9.ldb"
And appended on the 3 value (HKLM\SOFTWARE\Tegic\eT9\AvailableLanguages) ",0107"
After that, the keymapping was correct! But after selecting German in the XT9-Menu, it wasn't displayed in the XT9-Menu to be selected, but by typing with the dictionary the t9 suggested me some german words and by selecting them, the xt9-bar freezed and was visible everywhere until I did a softreset.
Let's simply say: It acted really confused!
My guess is, that this is connected with the file eT9.HQD.kdb
So. Is there any genius out who can help me???
post german language pack here.
i will add it in the next release, maybe.
Yes, please! I'd really appreciate that! Thank you!!!
XT9 German.zip:
The 2 language-files I suppose to be responsable for german.
Is this enough or should I try to upload the cab including Czech, Danish, German, English, Spanish, Finnish, French, Italian, Dutch, Norwegian, Polish, Portugese, Russian & Swedish ???
I had some troubles uploading this file - I guess my Connection is too slow (512 kbit up) and the server is getting into a timeout. But I can also put the file on my server and send you a direct download link via PM for this file (also tried to upload it via URL - no chance!)

Hi
Yesterday i've played araound with the files from HTC Touch Dual. Is there anyone who can tell me how to edit key mapping??? The current keymapping is:
Code:

"2" 1; e; r
"3" 2; z; t
"4" 3; u; i; ü
"5" .; o; ö; p
"6" ?; s; a; ä
"7" 4; d; f
"8" 5; h; g
"9" 6; k; j

The files are from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=1672748&postcount=4 and the howto i used is here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=1946530&postcount=263
I know that these are files from HTC Niki that uses a 5x4 keypad but how to change to 3x4??? I couldn't find a 3x4 xt9 kdb file for pocket pc.
StefanV3
Hi
Thanks for mailing me. But there is no need to upload it because it is available here at http://melgurth.ovh.org/index.php?page=downloads .
But, could you tell us how to activate it??? I installed it but i don't know how to activate it. There is no menu entry...
StefanV3
Hi
@ husbender
Thanks, i will try it again. Did you really mean the '#' key??? In private message you told me that you holding down the '*' key. '#' key gives me the list with symbols...
Back to Topic:
I've played around again with the files from the XT9 lang pack from the first post of this topic. It should be that the problem is related to the kdb files that Erofich uses for english and russian xt9. It should be special ones for the qtek keyboard. Is this right Erofich??? Could you tell us how to develope a german kdb file???
StefanV3
Hi
Please send it...
Stefan
Thank you very much for your help, husbender.
But this t9 languagepack isn't working on my WM 6.1 Pro Rom. After the installation I'm only able to write numbers and I'm unable to open the t9 menu by pressing the *-key! So I've uninstalled it and everything went back to normal - without a German t9...
I'm looking forward to Erofichs new rom /w german t9 or someone who could remap the keys from the t9 shadow languagepack.
But thank you husbender!
I'm looking for Spanish xT9
Hi, does somebody have the file Spanish xT9 only?
because I found a international languages, but i don't need all the other ones.
Thanks
Hello all!
Currently working on identifying which parameters are causing the Nike to identify which Keyboard to use. Don't hope that the parameters are deeper in the ROM...
Can somebody with an 16 Keypad version (P5500) look which registry value following key contains:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\OEM\Qwerty\Layout -- my Value: "1033" dec
I am currently using following ROM: US_Niki_6.1_V1.0_s600_touch.dll
If anybody has already clues, please share
thx and gtx qp
I have a 16 key version (P5500) and the value in the registry is: 2052
As I have the problem with the hardware keyboard (20 keys) I just flashed the original rom of O2 germany back and looked at HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\OEM\Qwerty\Layout. In the original ROM I have 1031 and in the Tom-Niki-Project-2.1.3 I have 2052 which gives me a 16 key keyboard.
After changing the value from 2052 to 1031 I got back my 20 keys keyboard.
Hope this helps.
Thanks guys for the Info!
I've tried to change the value to "2052" but it does not give me the 16 Key Layout.
I will try flashing the Tom-Niki-Project ROM.
greetings!
