Radio cannot be flashed, always stops at 0% - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam Software Upgradin

I was handed what looked like a brand new I-MATE JasJam, except I was told that it was crashing a lot and could not make phone calls.
After reading lots of different posts on this site I have determined that the Radio's firmware is corrupt. There is "NO GSM" on bootup and no IMEI being listed.
I have been trying the last few days to flash the radio with a new version of firmware but have yet to get past 0%. I have had success flashing the device with Black 3.5 but the radio is still not flashing.
I have simunlocked and SuperCID the phone with success and I have tred USB Monitoring when I attempted to flash the radio device and have seen "AUX_process-FAIL..".
Before I keep trying with alternative ways of programming the RADIO is there anything I can do to determine that the RADIO is physically installed and electronically responsive. My concern is that perhaps the radio's hardware is broken and no amount of flashing attempts will ever bring it back.
Currently
IPL - 1.01
SPL-1.40.Olipro (I can install 2.10 if required..)
CID=SuperCID (Level 0)
Can Boot to OS ? Yes
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Hi man,
welcome to club!we have same problem and haven't found the escape way yet.you can see it here( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=338413) and share your experiences.I hope we can find the solution.

How say Hamed, welcome to the club...But first look instructions on the wiki. For me and Hamed, there is no solution for now. Mean on the software way, to solve problem.

Hi
Used to happenb to me. I always flash bu sd card way. Just put the radio image on sd card in nbh format. Rename it to HERMIMG and go into bootloader. It will put the radio on. Alayas fails for me when i use the customruu

your radio bootloader is dead, you're basically screwed.

Thanks, thats all I wanted to know.
Appreciate your time.

Its not dead. Use the sd card method. My phone is back from the dead !

then quite clearly... your radio bootloader wasn't screwed.

Sorry I think you misunderstood. All im saying is that mine used to stop at 0% Every single time using windows to flash. I started using the sd card and it would freeze as well but kept trying and trying and eventually it would start to flash. Usually on sd card method it would freeze around 12% but then eventually go on and update success.. Try the sd card way and it may work. Remember I had the same problem , no gsm , no imei etc

Indie, can you please tell us which rom you try to flash via sd card? Are you use nbh tool v101 to extract shipped rom, only radio part on sd card, or you boot completely rom t-mobile wm 6 (which version???)? Please give to us details.

I would flash the htc official wm6 rom, or get any of the extracted radio roms from the wiki. Now i have the official tmobile wm6 rom uk rom somewhere on this site. I just put the radio or whole rom in nbh format onto sd card and rename it to HERMIMG. then go into bootloader and it will do the rest itself. The exe files from the official tmobile rom get extracted to your temp folder and creates the nbh format. Just copy it from there
Remember if it freezes , keep trying. I once had to try 10 times before it did my radio. i would wait 10 mins at a time for gsm. if it doesnt move by then its froze. reset and try again

I think that my radio bootloader is dead, because when I try in mtty rtask a and then rversion I get nothing in USB monitor. Is my radio bootloader dead, and is there now a soluiotn for recovering radio bootloader?

Well based on what others are saying in this thread; yes, you flash the radio or rom via SD Card instead of activesync, and you do so by going into bootloader manually...read the thread.

I tried that, but its the same. It stops on 0%. I saw that others that had this problem had a functional radio bootloader (0107 or 0108). Mine is corrupt!

help with xda .2 update

update froze at 25% what do I do?
Try flashing from an SD card.
the only way i can access my sd card is through phone i get an error 262 when i try and use the recovery of the sspl rom flasher
Buy a card reader. Read the wiki; it explains everything.
its not letting me flash using the sd card says loading then goes back to bootloader
1) Use card reader to format the card in FAT32
2) Copy the .nbh file as HERMIMG.nbh to the root of the card.
did that now it says loading the goes back to the boot loader
or: Practice safe flashing techniques:
usb connect to rear usb port no usb hubs
screensaver/sleep mode off
pc running windows XP
close all other programs & refrain from using your PC for the 20 or 25 minutes it will take to flash

Ouch. I don't know what to tell you.
I thought as long as you just flash boot screens and OS you were fairly safe from bricks... I guess you got the raw end of that deal.
I wish I could help more. You might try the Linux RUU flashing tool pof made. That might work...
i get red numbers that say 0068002 when trying to flash of of card

Wait, I thought it said "Loading" then went back to bootloader...
it does that but what i didn't see before is right before it returns to bootloader it shows those numbers.
This one's beyond me... Any gurus out there have any ideas?
just flash a full shipped rom (signed with proper key), if your device is not SuperCID then it must match your CID too.
i've tried
keep getting error 262 in hermes rom update utility
I see in your signature you have a 8525, are you trying to flash a full shipped cingular's rom?
edit: i tried to flash xda .2 and it hung now I am willing to flash anything that will unbrick my phone. So far the rom from htc is working.
yes,, I am downloading the one for the cingular 8525 from htc right now and am going to try that
Am I missing something here?
yes, the shipped cingular rom will work on your phone, as it is signed and matches your cid, no worries.
xda-live is not signed with the proper cert, that's why bootloader won't accept it...
this time I am going to cid unlock it since I am haveing to start over anyways

Back to stock using just memory card?

I am running:
SPL-2.40.Olipro
3.35 radio
dcd 3.0.1 rom
I have the verizon xv6800.
I have lost connectivity between PC to phone via USB. Verizon is sending me a replacement.
Is there a way to get it back to stock using a micro SD card (bootloader, radio, rom)?
If not I plan on sending "as is" once I get me replacement--don't really want to do this.
Thanks in advance

Have you simply lost connectivity to Activesync? Have you tried another PC? Do you not hear the 'add new hardware' chime when connecting your device? Can you boot into the OS? Can you not flash your phone via the SDcard method to another 2.40 bootloader using ROM? Have you failed in attempting the Wiki Downgrading instructions -- particularly using the Titan relocker?

Here is the answer:
1. Format your MicroSD card to FAT32
2. Extract the .NBH you desire to flash (use winrar) from the exe or zip and put it on the microsd card, rename it from RUU_signed.nbh to TITAIMG.nbh
3. Put the MicroSD card in your phone reboot to the BOOTLOADER screen (camer+power+reset) it should then start updating with the .NBH on the SD card and the procedure should begin automatically.

I think if he uses the sd card method above he will have problems. my understanding is that the stock rom will freak out with olipro 2.40. What he really needs to find out is if it is possible to relock without his USB port functioning. then the sd card method will work to flash a stock rom.
on a related question to the one asked by the OP, can a whole ROM be flashed using an SD card, including the radio? I think I read in the past that flashing radio firmware via SD was very difficult and troublesome...
Like maccaberry mentions, will the stock rom "freak out with olipro 2.40?" Is is possible to flash stock rom and relock from micro SD card?
I have tried several USB cables/PCs and it is just not activesync--troubleshooted with Verizon for 2 hours, the problem appears to be hardware related.
After creating this thread I did read up a bit on the wiki, and was going to try using instructions there, but the part about "the stock rom will freak out with olipro 2.40" has me a bit hesitant to flash stock. If I don't get a solution to update bootloader from micro SD, once I get my replacement and activate it I might try flashing to stock even with olipro 2.40--I am sending it back so if it does get messed up I just have to hope verizon does not come back knocking on my door.

You still haven't stated whether or not you hear a chime and/or see a change in the hardware devices list on your PC when your OS is loaded on your phone if you and you plug it into your PC.

Via the SDcard method, try to flash your device to another 2.40 bootloader using ROM. So that you don't need to be concerned over radio incompatbilities (if you do have the correct 3.35 radio installed for your DCD 3.0.1 ROM) you can try to reflash again with a build from DCD or a ROM with my kitchen. Or you can try one of the older OS/3.16 radio ROMs which also use 2.40. Each of the OS and radio ROMs can be flashed from the SDcard.
I'm sorry, but I wasn't clear in my first post that you do need an active USB connection to change the bootloader and that is why I asked if you could boot into the OS, heard your PC chiming on new hardware connected, or had attempted to reflash your phone to another ROM (or same ROM again) via the SDcard. Also, have you tried a hard reset on your phone?
The issue may be hardware but more than likely it is a software problem on your device or PC.

Yes, any ROM portion should be able to be flashed via that method. On multiple times I have flashed a separate radio ROM without issue.

Keystone thanks for you help...I did do the Device manager check...nothing. Several hard resets were done (memory card in/memory card out). I will try you suggestion about trying a different ROM (or same ROM again) that is made for 2.40. My radio is 3.35.04.
Is it a true statement that the Verizon stock rom/radio will NOT work with 2.40?--I could try this but like I said before I am a little nervous since I know I can't fail over to using USB to PC to help my situation.
You need to flash via the SD card as they say. Put whatever version ROM that goes along with your current radio version. Then once you get it up and running you should be able to connect via activesync and run Titan Relocker to get the 1.30 SPL loaded and 2.40 removed. Then you have a choice to leave it stuck there and return it like I done with one once, or you can flash the stock ROM and radio. There is a chance you can do that from the SD aswell incase your pc fails to pick it up again while in bootloader mode. You'll have to get someone elses input on if that part will work or not.
By the way, the stock ROM isn't your real worry. It's the 2.40 bootloader that will get everyones attention. So you really need to go ahead and properly flash and hope activesync will connect.

You CANNOT flash a stock (verizon signed) rom with 2.40 period. You must relock the phone back to the stock bootloader, and only then can you flash the verizon signed roms.
Key,
You seem to be the expert with SD flashing. Maybe you know a mehtod he can use to get the bootloader on without USB. What I fear is that his USB hardware is fried. In that case, even a flash of a olipro 2.40 compatible rom is still leave him stuck where getting back to stock is concerned. I notice that the bootloader uses a similar software as the roms for loading onto the device. Is is possible to get a bootloader loaded via sd card. I have a feeling it is not possible because the olipro's all use a two step process.. 1st they load a soft (temporary) SPL and then 2nd they load the hard SPL. I have read elsewhere (by ImCoKeMan) that you should not try to run the unlocker via RUU so I assume SD flash version would also not work.
Hens,
If Key cant help us here you might want to pm ImCoKeMan over at ppcgeeks and ask him if the relocker can be loaded via SD card.
Do you have insurance? The device might have an accident with a drop from a 3 storey building that will erase the bootloader altogether..
Finally, you could donate the device to Madman34. He is looking for bricked phones for JTAG experimentation. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=2019937#post2019937
I was looking into that before I posted my other reply. The one concerning thing about that is when I decompile the titanrelocker.exe file there was a relocker.nb and a 1.30 spl nbh file. I'm pretty sure both are needed, then again I could be way off base. The cool thing would be to get that relocker.exe to run on our mobile device. If that would work it would be easy to set up the SD card to autorun it once WM booted up.
Three story drop huh.... I was thinking Popcorn bout 10 seconds and
how long should this method take mine has been loading for 20min

Orange SPV M3100 flash to WM6 (or 6.1), help needed

I have just downloaded and run this file with my phone attached to my computer and Activesync 4.5 running etc ->
RUU_Hermes_DOPODASIA_WWE_3.54.707.3_6275_1.47.00.10_108_Ship.exe
It went ok to the point where it said Invalid Operator ID or something similar, in other words, silly old Orange have stopped the upgrade from going through somehow. What are my options now? I'm guessing its still possible to upgrade (although i don't know how, as i'm very novice at upgrading phones!)
please let me know what i can do now.
hi i have a a orange spv m3100 and recently put on a wm6 rom upgrade found here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=320829
i did put hard spl v7 on before i upgraded to this. it all worked fine and i was not stopped by orange as it lets you put roms on that are not the same CID as your device
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=296722
hard spl v7 is on this page and once that is on your hermes the rom should go on easily
ok will look into that, thank you.
a friend at work suggested using the Black firmware, would that be advisable? he has had success with it.

The reason you get an invalid vendor ID is because you havent put HardSPL on, and your CID doesnt match that of a dopod device (see the filename). CID is something you NEED to know about before flashing stuff dude, the more reading you do the better you will understand the device and the flash process. These devices are shipped with a CID which restricts them to use only ROMs intended for them....so your device will only flash Orange ROMs in its current state.
ok i have got as far as flashing the Pro Black 3.0.1 rom, it went well, only thing was, the phone was still locked after the upgrade, so i just ran the v3a unlocker on it, and it has now been unlocked.
my question now is why did it change the radio? what radio is best for the SPV M3100?
I should mention i am in the UK.
What was the radio before? Check what your friend has as this may be the best. Don't go for the latest update and Make sure you use the sd card method to flash (less things go wrong as it is dependant on the sd card inserted in your phone and your battery being charged, NOT on a flaky usb cable and pc that can be pulled out or reset/turned off). This is the riskiest part to flash making almost 100% permanent bricks if there is a problem.
My advice, use the one that your friend is using (if he knows anything about flashing he probably is a ppc flashing junkie like just about everyone else here) and use the sd card method.
As a footnote, radio roms are carrier specific - your carrier decides what is the best radio rom and using the wrong one means call dropouts and/or severe battery drainage or you.
Cheers...

very foolishly, before flashing the phone with the unlocker, i didnt check the radio ROM. (though i have a feeling it was around the 1.38-1.48 mark)
i'm on Vodafone though. Isn't there one standard radio (to rule them all) that most of us in the UK can get away with?
edit: im looking at the HTC Official Europe WM6 rom that comes with the built-in 1.48 radio, it would make sense that they know what the best radio is, since they make the phones...

after much reading of the threads on this forum, its starting to make sense.
one thing i still am not sure about is SSPL.
Should booting into the SSPL bootloader allow me to flash *any* rom, cos thats what this thread is claiming -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=293651
but when i just now tried starting the SSPL-HERM.exe and then running the HTC WM6 firmware that i found through a bit of guesswork, it still got to the same Invalid Vender (sic) ID part!
Am i using the SSPL-HERM file the right way?
about the radio i am using vodafone as i unlocked my spv i have 1.47.30.10 found on this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=326995
this is working well for me at the moment.
as for your question about flashing the roms i use the hard spl v7 which i flashed the offical htc rom with i then used this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=293665
to unlock my phone and super cid it i have since flashed black satin and schap's wm6 pro 4.31 and both went on fine
gd luck ask if ur not sure about any of this
Flash Hard SPL back on as it has been downgraded to 1.10 olipro instead of 2.10 olipro. This is for safeties sake.
You don't need to use sspl to flash os's from the sd card IF you have SPL 2.10 olipro installed. Just rename the .nbh file (on sd card) to hermimg.nbh and reboot into bootloader with sd card inserted. Too easy..

Followed wiki and Stuck on Verizon logo pls Help

Hey guys, this is my first post but have been doing research for a long time(weeks) to gain knowledge.. I followed the instructionson wiki for flashing to
Radio Rom 3.42.50 using micro sd and Rom 3.2.6 . I uploaded the bootloader to nueSPL-2.47.exe no problem. but after the radio Rom was loaded it is stuck on the screen.. Im not sure how to use the titan_exitbl.exe. at this point.. please help, thanks
oh by the way, I am unable to connect to ActiveSync. I will not recognize a device being connected.
Two things to try..... 1 pull the battery out for 10 or so seconds then try to start it again.... if that fails.... load a newly cooked version of 3.2.6
I'll give that a try when I get home from work. Thanks I hope the cooked ROM works. So I pretty much go through the step again of loading it on my micro sd and press power+camera+reset right.
yep.... I've personally found it better to load the ROM after the Radio... It sounds like you already have the radio squared away so it should just be a matter of loading a ROM.
Still having problem loading up ROM. did I use the wrong bootloader? when I get to the tri screen it reads TITA100 SPL-2.47noChem Titan SPL EVT CPLD-9 am I bricked?
Did you remove your micro SD card before you did power-camera-reset to flash your ROM? I assume you are trying to flash your ROM using the USB cable right? You may have a titan.nhb file on it, that the bootloader is trying to flash.

this is where I went... Is there a way I can flash ROM dcd 3.2.6 using micro SD? it seems like thats what I need to do next.
I'm in the same state. I just got my replacement xv6800 from Verizon. My old one was flashed long ago to SPL 2.40 and various DCD roms over the past 8 months.
I didn't remember the whole process I used back then. I used the wiki to flash the new one and got the process out of order. I did the SPL 2.40 first and then the radio, both using USB. Now I am stuck at the VZW logo.
I updated the wiki.
It sounds to me like you are doing ok.
I recently had to replace my phone and basically what I did was load the NueSPL on the SD card and ran it. Once I soft-reset, I confrimed that I had the correct bootloader and it appears you do.
Next I loaded the radio file onto my Microsd card and renamed it to TITAIMG.nbh. I then hit the Power, Camera, Reset to get into the bootloader and it should auto install the radio, which I belive it has for you. Once you reset, the phone will most likely show the VZW spach screen as the new radio is not compatible with the old VZW ROM that is still on the phone.
SO the next step, it to remove the radio file off the MicroSD card and load the ROM file onto the microSD card, again, this needs to be called TITAIMG.nbh. Place the card back into the phone and hit the Power-Camera-Reset button again and the rom should now load. Once it says its complete, reset your phone and you should be in business.

the correct order is
SPL 2.47
Radio ROM
OS ROM
Carrier Cab
Trouble is if you can't replace the TITAIMG.nbh file on your SD Card.
I thought the correct order was:
Radio 3.x Minimum
SPL 2.47
Radio ROM required by Custom OS
Custom OS ROM

If you have NueSPL working with a 2.x radio, perhaps the the information on no2chem's site is just referring to the ReLocker?
Anyway, I updated the Common Problems wiki with blancmik's info.
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=TitanProblems
Thanks blancmik and necromis.
I had to wait until I got home to pull out my 1GB microSD card and reader. I was able to flash the radio and a ROM.
I did it the following way and it is booted up to WinMobile 6.1.
SPL 2.47
Radio ROM
OS ROM
When I did all this 8 months ago I used USB. I like the microSD upgrading way much better.
Glad to hear that it worked out well for you. The first time I ever flashed was also via USB. After I understood the MicroSD method I've never looked back!

Thaks for the help,
You are right on where I am. But still no luck.
So let me see if Im getting this right. After transfering the file (dcd_titan_3.3.4) to my sd card, Im to rename it TITAIMG.nbh.. thats what I did and nothing.

the correct order is
SPL 2.47
Radio ROM
OS ROM
Carrier Cab
Trouble is if you can't replace the TITAIMG.nbh file on your SD Card.

yeah this is where my problem is, I cant change .exe file to .nbh. my solution was I found a .nbh file for the original and flashed that.

DCD releases his ROM on his site as a self extracting installer. In order to get to the actual ROM, I usually open the .exe with winRAR (winzip) will also work, and extract the RUU_signed.nbh file out, which is the ROM. That's what needs to go on your SD card renamed TITAIMG.nbh.

HD2 errors flashing new radio

im trying to flash a new radio (2.07.50) in my HD2 512 t8585,
the sd card method always shows an error when trying to flash it.
is there something wrong with my phone?
usb method doesn't work either. my phone does not boot to WinMo6.5 (it freezes on HTC screen).
error is 00018003
i have 2.08 HSPL installed.

It is actually not the new radio. The latest radio is 2.15.xxx
Maybe the file you downloaded is corrupted. Try to redownload.
Make sure you turn off your antivirus, firewall and internet when flashing.
Cheers
i flash using the SD card.
all Roms with a Radio built in gives me an error.
i actually can't even get into the OS. it gets stuck at the splash screen.

Without radio, you cant get into OS
Most known issues are because of the damage or incompatible card.
Try a new card and format it with FAT 32. Many users suggest 2 or 4 GB. But I, myself, can flash with 16GB Card without problem (Sandisk)
Make sure battery at least 50%. When transfer the file from PC to your card, Use card reader to avoid corrupting the file.
If those procedures dont work, I dont have any more suggestion
Cheers..

try to flash the radio-rom and the os-rom separately...and not with the sd-card method but with usb cable...
Sounds like the infamous "stuck radio" . When you flash stock from SD does it show " rsa radio fail"?
Not seen a definitive solution to it, so fingers crossed its not that.
no, it just says
00018003
LEOIMG.nbh - FAIL
RADIO_V2 - FAIL
update terminate
update fail
just some additional info.
i have HSPL 2.08. i tried the FAT32 2GB sandisk method and still no go.
I even tried task 29'ing it with mtty but still no go.
when i put it in bootloader to run the original asian WWE original stock rom, i get to 1% then it restarts and it says image file corrupted.
and what happens when you flash over usb? Your posts so far only mention sd card. (please dont say 'but i cant boot into windows, how can i use usb?' I just couldnt bear hearing it one more time.... hehe - you can flash usb from bootloader, , once it says USB at the bottom of the screen)
when i try to flash from usb, it goes to the HTC screen with the bar, after 1% it blacks out then restarts. then the RUU utility says image file is corrupted, please try again.
will JTAG help solve this issue?

hmm, ok, you have a regular hd2, right? and on it is 2.08.hspl, right?
Try using hspl2,3 or 4 to reset your spl to a regular stock spl, (i'd try 1.66.0000) and then flash the latest correct stock rom, via both methods.
Im guessing here, just offering things to try, but i have seen 2.x not wanting to be removed (its not a reg hd2 stock spl, 2.x are tmous only), and since your flashing fails at 1%, the first few % are the spl being flashed. radio fail for example tends to fail at 9%
no go. i tried hspl2 loading 1.66 and it says successful, but it still shows 2.08 hspl
Urgh, yea, thought that might be the case. Looking like jtag is the next thing.
bump!!
same error for me!!!
