A question that has been asked many times, but I couldn't find a clear answer: how do I specify which phone number for a contact to use on the Favorite People tab?? It seems to dial only cellphone numbers...
Thanks.

Hi gullum, thank you for your reply, but I did already know that.
I'd like to assign a specific phone number (home, work, etc.) permanently to my Favorite People buttons. By default the mobile phone number of the selected contact is dialed and I couldn't find a way to specify another number. The same applies to the cube...
Then I'll keep using the Speed-dial...
However I've read about this problem in other devices' forums and it seems to be related to the version of the Home plugin.
Have a look at this, for example: http://www.4winmobile.com/forums/ph...b-files-all-devices-14-10-a-6.html#post149381

I don't know if this thread deserves a seperate space in this forum but I'd really like to disable the group of numbers when I dial or some incoming call comes in. Like when I enter any number first 3 number goes into a brick "(234)-234-234" and rest has also this grouping kinda thing, does anyone know how to disable this thing?
Also I have another problem. This one is funny. When u save number like 99111199 with some name then when I receive a sms message it comes like +(country code)99111199 and name appears if u saved it in the phonebook right? But my phone doesn't do that and i see just numbers....

Its in the manual...
But, find the contact in the People app and then press and hold the number for a list of options... one being, set as default number.

How do I change back?
Same thing happened to me...just go into settings on the computer and unchecked the box next to your phone number...everything will revert back to the way it was!
Yea. I had this problem yesterday. Scared the ish out if me. Sign in to Google voice from a computer and go into settings from the top right. Select the phone tab and uncheck both areas that has your number tied to it.

Heh, same thing here. I went to voice settings /via Chrome and disabled sprint integration.
Does anyone know how to use the voice app on the phone to switch back and forth between sprint/google numbers? I could do it on the Hero.
Guys, I know there are tons of threads on this but i'm stuck.
starting from stratch.....
should I set up GVM from the computer or phone? or do I have to do it from both ends?
At this point I only want to use the Gvoice mail because of the voice-to-text feature unless you know of another app.
I've used handscent but I dont think that feature works on it.
I'm not using integration but somehow today(7/1/11) I cant get the GVM to work with my sprint number.

It's better to configure it all online through Google.
I keep mine seperate and have the choice to use either before I make a call since GV is my business number.
You can set the settings in your phone also to use either or.

thanks for the reply but i've read people saying DONT download the google voice app on the phone and some people say it's ok. I cant get both options to work at the same time (sprint/google number choice and the voice-to-text ).
I have Google voice on my phone with notification OFF. It sends me a text when I get a voicemail. Also, I have the Google voice widget on my homescreen: makes it easy to listen my voice message from there. Go message is my default sms app and every text I send/receive gets copied in my Google voice account. It works very well.

well I'm glad for all the other people's success but I need to have someone walk me through the steps. Something is not working correctly. I dont think i want to integrate both numbers. I want two seperate numbers and the voicemail part. What am I doing wrong???

Ok. You can use both numbers without combining them.
First. Log into Google on your computer. Go to voice. When voice loads, sign up for a number if you don't already have one. (very painless)
Click on options in the top right corner and click voice settings. You will see your Google number. You should see forward calls right below your number.
Check the box to forward calls to your cellphone.
**Any calls made to your GV number will now ring on your cell.
Now click on voicemail & text tab.
Those options listed should be self explanatory.
Now click on calls.
*In my case I have Call screening enabled so I don't get spam calls etc.*
If a number isn't in your address book you can have them say their name before it rings and you can answer or deny the call. (Great feature imo)
Caller ID incoming: 2 choices are availible. I have it show the number. Better then seeing your GV number every time someone calls.
Caller I'D outgoing: * for me this is important*
I set it to GV number so i don't have to use my actual cell number to ppl I don't want to have it.
Hope this helps you out some. If you want 2 numbers without integration then follow my steps. If you want to integrate then make the appropriate choices.
You can also have GV mail set as your main VM for both numbers without having any conflict whatsoever. It works great for ppl who can't have phone at work and would be able to read their VMs from their computer. (Comes in handy )
P.S.: After you do the online portion, go head and open the app on your phone. Login and go to your settings. You can make a few changes their but the options are limited. Just review those settings against your online settings and test them out with another phone and you should be smooth sailing after that.
Good luck. Check back with results.

Also to note.
If you go into your phone settings and then select call, there is an option under voicemail to use your sprint VM or Google VM.

I just received my SGS2 and I'm trying to get to grips with it..
I'm on Villain ROM 2.4.2.
My question is about the smart dialling feature. It appears to find the contact that I want ok, the problem here is that it will only allow me to choose the first number that is saved under the contact and offers no way to access a different number for the same contact.
I have many contacts that have a home landline number as well as a mobile telephone number and in the majority of the cases, it defaults to finding the landline number and doesn't let me choose that contact's mobile number instead or any other number I might have saved for that contact.
I know that there is a little arrow/drop list option next to the found contact's name but it just brings up other possible matches to different contacts - not any other numbers?
I hope that makes sense! Does anyone have a solution for this?
I think I know what you mean and if you press the little arrow and you see the list of possibles you need to click the contact for the person you want and it gives you a further list of all the numbers stored for that contact.
You have to be careful though because you mustn't first press your desired contact on that first list or will "lock in" the first number stored for them.
Hope that makes sense.
Thanks for that. I'm sure I tried doing that but now you've described it better, it definetely works. Would much prefer it if they could just list all the numbers straight off..
Suppose i have multiple phone no.s in a contact with all of them having whatsapp. And if i send talk to that contact on whatsapp will the messages go to all numbers?
I had someone else's no. under my friends name in my contacts, that no. also has whatsapp, so when i was talking to my friend was the message going to that no. as well?
No. Although the multiple numbers may appear together in your phone's contacts, each number appears separately in whatsapp. Suppose if a contact has 2 numbers, his name would be listed twice in whatsapp contact list, each for a different number. Usually this is in the same order as it appears in your phone's contacts. If you send a message to one number, it goes to only that number and not to all numbers under the same name

Owh. Ok. I understand what you mean. It does open up the entire list of numbers for that contact but the messages are sent to only the first number listed there. Suppose, your friend Jack has two numbers +1 and +2, both with whatsapp. If you click on one number and it shows:
Jack
Mobile +1
Mobile +2
the message will be sent only to the +1 number. On the other hand if you click the other number, it will then show:
Jack
Mobile +2
Mobile +1
the message will be sent only to the +2 number.
They aren't sent to all the numbers. I'm sure of that

When it opens the contact details within whatsapp, a phone icon and whatsapp icon [latter depends on that number having whatsapp] are next to the numbers. If you tap the number or the phone icon, it will take you to the dialer screen or keypad of your phone, like you're calling him/her. If you click the whatsapp icon, it will take you to the chat within whatsapp.
Does that clear your doubt? If it doesn't, post a screenshot of the problem.
