Hey guys,
I recently got a Touch and found that while the phone is nice in itself, it's not going to hold a candle to the Titan/Mogul. I'm sending it back, but before I do, there are several applications that appear to be part of the ROM that I would love to get my hands on, namely the Camera, Camera Album, upgraded X Button, multiple Messenger tool, etc.
I've read that it's possible to dump the ROM from the Touch, but I'm wondering if there's an effective way to extract those applications out, and then install them on our phones. I'm still very new to the ROM hacking/modding scene, but I'd like to take advantage of this opportunity, as I have the Touch here in front of me.
Any advice/information you can provide would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Tech
try searching here or sprintmogul.net
This is not Titan specific, try the "developing and hacking" section it is sticky and the thread is titled "All Extracted HTC Apps (cab & oem included) "

I just spent the last hour and a half or so reading various threads about updating the Dialer Skins on the Hermes, and I'm now quite confused. each one seems to have its drawbacks, such as things not working afterwards.
What I need is a Dialer Skin with big buttons, that has ALL THE FUNCTIONALITY of the factory dialer skin. I don't want ANYTHING missing, broken, etc.
Does this exist? I'm running the latest Cingular rom (the one dated 4/9/07) from htc's website. my phone is not cid nor sim unlocked; I don't want to void my warranty. The 8525 doesn't have the front video camera, so I don't need the video button.
But I really need a dialer skin that works as the factory does, with all the functionality (Smart dial, history, PTT(?), etc.). Dark colors, vista look, clear buttons etc. would be nice, but not required. All that I require is Big, one finger buttons and ALL functionality working properly.
Can someone please point me in the right direction? I've done due dilligence in reading and searching threads and the wiki.
Thanks in advance!

Try this link. There are many dialpad skins listed. Pick one and give it a try. They are uninstallable so if you don't like it, just uninstall it.
http://www.paulya.com/dialerskins.htm
Thanks for the link.
I am also confused!
I looked at the above recommended website and;
1. I do not know how to remove the "Etan dialer" (I assume this is the skin that Cingular/AT&T has supplied with the 8525?
2. Are the skins that I see displaying larger numbers than the default?
PLEASE chime in and help us!
ok, these are the two versions that we have been playing with.
version 4_05_29446 (titan original) is camera 1
version 5_07_28987 (vouge original) is camera 2
no need to move any files to the windows folder like the earlier versions. these versions run within the folders they create (program files\camera1 and program files\camera2).
each version will have it's own icon in the programs list and each version can be set to a hard ware key.
bottom line.... now you can have both camera's installed on your device at the same time. just in case you dont know which one you want to keep.
Now we're talking. Nice work Cody. I'll install these since you made it easier.
thanks for the cabs....so i tried it, and well, i could see no difference. thanks though...anyone else see a difference?
ok ill ask the MILLION dollar question!
DO WE GET THE FLASH WITH THE TITAN original cam cab???
well wait 5min and ill answer my own question
Can these be made into updated OEM's for the cookers?
Thanks Codyppc
One thing you might want to add to your original post
-Program must be installed in internal memory.
I loaded camera 2 (Vogue), did a soft reset just in case, and then took two identical pictures without flash. (I used the same White balance for both - I think it was the halogen WB)
Can't tell much difference between the two... The pictures look pretty much identical.
Might try to test it with different settings. But if they do take similar pics I'll probably just stick with the Titan stock camera because of flash option.
Can you please make a general cab for us non Mogul and Titan owners?

it is a general cab. should be able to install on all ppc's.
this doesn't remove the original camera. you will find the camera's in the program llist and be able to then assign it to a hardware button.
yes the flash works on the version 4_05_29446 (titan original) , camera 1

it wont be compatible with all devices.
I tryed it on my i-760 and had to wipe my phone because it didn't work and wouldn't uninstall. The camera.exe wasn't a trusted program or something.

For those (non titan people) who don't know dcd, the guy is a titan guru. So if he says its wont be compatible with all devices, you can believe it.
Sorry for the bad news.
hey this worked out great.. excellent CAB package. thank you.
i'm really disappointed at how badly the camera sucks on this phone. my daughters Moto Krazr is considerably better in all aspects - color, sharpness, everything..
so i installed camera2.cab.. soft reset. perfect.. i like the interface better than the stock camera. seems much less cluttered and easier to use.
i'll post my comparison pics below. (edited for size....image_10 and 11 is stock, image001 and 0002 is Camera2)
I don't know if i can tell TOO much difference.. still a D- in my book, either way. if anything, camera2 seems to take the hazyness away, and tends to represent colors a TAD better.
(and yes, the Candela flashlight WILL turn off, just before the shutter releases)
yes, there is no flash. but here is the interesting thing, if anyone can comment.
you CAN run have both of these cameras in your program folder no problem. launch 'Camera', then close, then launch 'Camera2'.. each work independent of themselves.
BUT - if i run regular stock 'camera', it actualy removes the flash completely.. in otherwords, the on screen icon for the flash is just simply gone. all other control buttons are there, and where they should be (Focus, brightness, etc.. ), but the FLASH button is gone...
so i was kinda disappointed in that.. i know Camera2 is not flash capable, but i would have liked to keep it on my device to take regular day shots, and still have the option of using camera1, IF i need a flash..
so i un-installed camera2, did a soft reset, and viola - flash button is back on 'camera'..
so all in all, stupendous work crafting this cab, and ensuring it didn't rape my system when i installed it.. equally smooth in the un-install.
not sure which one i'll go with in the long run.. but for now, i'll keep camera2 uninstalled.
great work
I was trying to get this to work my self...you got ahead of me...
Thanks...saved me a bunch of time wasting!!
Hi all, first I want to say that this site is UNBELEIVABLE!!! I've learned more in one day of reading threads than I did in the weeks I spent researching the 8525 before I bought it! Now to my questions....I am seriouly in love with the touch cube interface I have been reading about and seeing all over the web, I am exstatic that Slither has made one that is compatible with my Hermes, my questions are...if I install it on my phone will I lose anything as far as applications and/or functionality? is it a Permanent change? and am I still able to use my slide out QWERTY?(In ALL the vids I've seen of the program, I've never seen anyone acctually USE the slide out QWERTY)
thanks
Your phone will still be completely functional with Slither's SCLPC++ on it. Remember, you don't actually install it...you run it as a program on the phone. It exists outside of the regular OS, and simply acts as a application launcher/dialer. There is also a great configuration tool for it available here on the boards.
If you don't have fTouchFlo on your phone, you'll need to install that first, and then configure it to launch the cube with an upswipe if you desire that. Personally, I'm not big on that method; I edit my registry to change my left soft key to open the cube.
...and no, it is not permanent. You simply delete the file. Read the thread where Slither explains how and what to do to get it working. As for your question about the keyboard, the cube will not change to landscape when the keyboard is out, but it will still launch just fine and work as promised.
Thank you so much I also found a FTouchFlo on the HTC wiki Forums ( http://rapidshare.com/files/75947199/HTCCube_FTouchFlo_TFloCubeCtrlv110_Config-xplode.cab ) Is this one any good and what is the difference between this one and Sliver's? Also will I be able to change the back ground of my Home screen or will I need to install the HHC(HTC Home Configurator)?
fTouchFlo is made by another user, not Slither2006. See here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=338143&highlight=ftouchflo
Just get the last one on there, v.1.4.1. efrost also makes a commercial version of it, but I've never tried it.
As for you Home screen, I assume you mean the HTC Home plugin. Yes, HHC is invaluable for customizing that.
...I do suggest that you search for some of these answers, though.
I've just got my HTC Hero... I was going to hold out for the HD2, but 1) There's a recession on, and 2) I played with a dummy version and whilst it's fantastic, it's very very enormous, and I have issues with the size of my equipment. (Unsightly bulges in my suit. Um...)
Isn't Hero lovely? It's the thinking person's iPhone.
Anyway, can anyone help with:
1. I'd like to sync some files with my desktop, in the same way as I could with WM My Documents. What do I need to do?
2. How can I get my MP3 ringtones to register?
3. Is there a good time-based profile application? (WM Phone Weaver was excellent.)
4. I hear Hero will support Andriod Eclair? Does anyone know when it's coming out, and what's going to be new?
Thanks for your help!
Welcome
1) If you plug in your Hero into your computer, your Hero should have a USB notification at the taskbar. Bring down the curtain and "Mount" your Hero. This will allow the computer to see it like a USB stick. Just drag the files across as you would normally.
2) Sorry - I didnt quite search around to find the post that would answer this for you, but the process was detailed by Dayzee - search around one of the stickies in the general Hero section.
3) As i came from WM, i liked time-based profiling too, however, i have failed to find an awesome one just like Phone Weaver/Phone Alarm/SPB Phone Suite etc. Locale is a FREE program on the market which suggests it can do these things - i find it a bit confusing and not useful for me. Example, I cant choose the phone to enter vibrate mode if it sees ANY appointment in my calendar, but you can select individually the appointments to switch into vibrate. To me, it was too tiresome to continuously add every appointment so that it will turn to vibrate..someone might be able to help you out here (even me!)
4) HTC have stated that Android 2.0 IS coming to Hero and they are working on it. THere are numerous thoughts on when this will be and nothing is confirmed solid yet from HTC.
btw, most of your questions could be answered if you read around the forum. There is a wealth of knowledge around this forum and even at Modaco's about our Hero. Might be best to read around first before posting. Just had a skim through this section of the forums and i could see 2 Android 2.0 threads. That would of definitely answered question number 4.

Use tone picker, you can download it in the market place. There are other apps that do the same thing but this one works fine for me.
It's also possible to select a ring tone in the original music player. When the song/ringtone is playing in the full screen app (not in the widget), press menu and there is an option to add the song as a ring tone.
Hi,
I have just received this tablet and it sucks.
But I paid much money for it and it took a very long time for it to arrive, so I just want to give it a try.
It runs android 2.3.4, but it has no android market. I managed to install the Market APK, but to my surprise, there was no way to add a google account, so I can use the market. Anybody knows how to accomplish this?
Second, I want to root this sucker. I tried SuperOneClick 2.3.3, but when I put the device in debug mode and connect it to the pc, it does not search for drivers, even though I have the android SDK installed. Anybody???]
Plus, if anybody has this device too, please share your experiences and maybe one day we have a developer willing to make a ROM for it.
I also have just received this tablet, I am a bit disappointed too (for the display quality actually), but I am trying to understand what I can make out of it.
I installed some versions of Google Market (and also the GoogleServices) but its seems unable to connect with my account. Will search some more if I can find some way to have it working, this post was just to let you know that there is also somebody else in your situation.
As always, any suggestion/step forward shared is more than welcome.
Bye

Hey I managed to install the Market and GoogleAccount and have them working.
I installed the gapps packages found at this url and they seem to work: (I cannot post links so please remove the spaces from the address below)

I have a ROM that is built for the GADMEI T863. It already has Market cooked in as well as some other tweaks.
I shared it on my google account.
https://docs.google.com/open?id=0B3fxq6Qouia0MzZiOGU2YmYtMWJhYi00YjY0LThjMGItMzhhM2UwZjkzYTA5
Just unpack and copy the four items to the root of the sd card. Turn off the tablet. Hold volume up en power button to begin flashing.
Nice dude... you scared me a little when I realized that it has chinese as the default language but I managed to set english quite easily.
Thank you!!!
Thanks!!!
You save my device. My internal sd was corrupted and i've tried a lot of solutions without success. Flashing this rom repair it.
allright, more users with this particular device.
Question, is the wifi on your's slow? My wifi is terrible. I can only get about 1mb/s a second. My router is a Linksys E4200 and my internet is cable 120mb/s.
It is slow with this frimware, the old firmware and the new (official firmware), no matter what.
Please share your thoughts.
My top speed is 1284 kbps with a line with 30mb/s very slow

Hi everybody,
Happy to find some users of this tablet. I'm really satisfied by this stuff. The 3D effect is nice and the performances barely good. I've put on the back a door hinge to create a kickstand
I rooted my device thanks to two little things : PdaNet to get a generic driver, then DooMLoRD's Easy Rooting Toolkit : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1321582
@hyellow : Thank you very much ! Where did you get this rom ? I'm curious to know the modifications provides by this rom, and i would to follow his evolution

I found the ROM on facebook. It is a dual device facebook page, because it is also offering roms for the GADMEI T820.
http://www.facebook.com/GadmeiT820
there is also this chinese forum, from GADMEI themselves.

Thanks.
This rom is great, finally my Google account and better performances in the system and 3D player. 'm Waiting for the next version
Does anyone see in the 3D mode strange rainbow-like color effects? Is it a low-quality panel or is it my device that has problems?
Thank you for sharing your thoughts!
today all cheap panels 3d glasses-free are low quality with rainbow colors and duplicates.
Best view at 50cm distance with low tilt in the y axis, when you stop to see the rainbow effect is the optimal distance-tilt, best with a solid color foreground in the movie.
I got one 2 weeks ago from BRANDO.
I don't think it's expensive, the 200 $ get exact change to euros, so it's 160 euros with delivery included.
The hardware is Ok, not the best but quite reasonable. And the glasses free display really works with the included video and photo players. The screen is HD-ready resololution and the video works quite well with every format I have tried.
On the bad side: the screen gets scratched easyly just by using it. It comes with very little documentation in chinese and just a few apps installed and some more on the internal SD, included a chinesse market. The construction looks a bit cheap and the plastic back makes sounds when you catsh it.
Still haven't tried to root it, with the Android Market installed surely will get more from it. Does anyone know if there is a chance we could upgrade it to Honeycomb or Icecream?

yes, it has the 3d player. But make a backup of the 3d content (movies and pictures). because, that is not included.
Does anyone know if there is an SDK to activate 3D mode?
LG and HTC have them for their phones. I assumed this device only needed the image to be vertically interlaced, but it appears something needs to switch on for the parallax barrier to activate.
thanks

Thanks. Does it also fixed the internal SD problem and improved Wi-Fi performance? Do you know how to make a backup of the existing ROM before upgrade? Could you share any screenshot?
Trying to install this rom,
It boots to the sd install screen and gives an error
E.Bad Boot Loader Arguments "(null)"
E.unkown volume for path [/udisk/factory_update_param.aml]
E.Can't mount /udisk/factory_update_param.aml]
anyone know what this is?
have you put the extracted files on to the internal or external sd card?
It might not make any difference, but i put it on the external sd card.
Be sure to extract the rar file and copy it to the sd card.
