Wiki updated.
Will test and report back

Where did you get the radio from?

invalid model id tells me after it tries 7% update.
could be for other PDA.

Works fine for me. Flashed without any problems.
Now to monitor signal strength and battery life.

Strange. I tried three times and one time from bootloader with same error.
Could be because of SPL 2.60? But I think I flashed other radios with it, but I don't remember.
Will investigate it and try a downgrade.

I've SPL 2.60 installed as well but it flashed without any problems. Only thing is you need to manually soft-reset your device after the upgrade reaches 100%. It is a known 'inconvenience' of the latest SPL.

Testing
Downloaded it, flashing took less time then usual. GPRS and 3G works fine on T-Mobile in the Netherlands.
Testing battery now.

It was not that. I simply forgot that I changed my device ID last week and had to hexedit the .nbh. accordingly.

ATT - (Washington DC) - 3G
Picks up signal extremely fast, I would say faster than 1.54.07.00. GPRS is also quick, but I believe it comes with the cost of battery. Battery dropped 20% in an hour from regular browsing and couple of phone calls. This is noticeably higher than 1.47x and 1.48x radios.

so far so good in Rogers/Fido networks, I'll come later with details, still under observation

works good on orange israel
edward

Better signal strength and 3g where I used to get strong Edge. I like it much better. I used to think that people were just making things up about one radio being better than another, however this time I can really tell the difference.
Good upgrade from 1.54.07

New Radio 1.38.30.10 Imate??

There is a new Radio from Imate in the wiki http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Hermes_ExtractedRadioRoms Anyone try it and is it any better. I didnt download it yet but I imagine take the RUUSigned and put with RUU Wrapper v4 and I'll try it out today.
Here is the thread about the ROM update that is containing the new Radio:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=299597
I combined the RUU with the Olipro RUUWrapper v4 and uploaded to a NON Rapidshare mirror and added to wiki.
http://www.bestsharing.com/files/INdT1250288/RUU Radio Only 1.38.30.10.exe.html
Radios can be uploaded to the xda ftp, the M$ crap was just for ROMs.
been trying it out for the past 2 days...i don't know if it's the new combo of the new Lvsw build with this radio but my battery has gone down faster. I work in a building where typically reception is from poor to non-existent. I carry the phone in my pocket and set to auto band mode and the past two days working from 8 to 1 Battery life have been going down to 40%. On the older wm6 builds with 1.38.00.10 I can typically get around 70% by the time I leave work...
So what's everyone else getting? Have you experienced a decrease in battery life?
On a plus note, I can see that it hangs on to a 3G signal longer before it switches to Edge and a very slight increase in reception.
its no real change from the 1.38 update.... just fixes for WCDMA on the 850Mhz band....

I noticed the battery drain too.
I noticed something "strange" but I can't assure (yet) if it's caused by this Radio ROM or by the WWE AKU 3.3.1 ROM.
The strange behaviour is that my phone auto switched-on apparently without reason (?). It happens when I enter in the underground and the phone losses the signal, and when I leave the underground and the phone catch the signal again...
Since I've installed the Radio ROM and the AKU 3.3.1 almost at same time, I don't know what is the cause. But I will return to a prior Radio ROM in order to know it.
In any case, did anyone noticed something similar?
BTW: Bootloader 1.11 is really fast flashing radio!!!
Fail at 7% ...
Trying to upgrade from the HTC ROM 2.11 which install SPL 1.11
When I run the radio only upgrade, it will start flashing but will stop at around 7%, then reboot.
Any ideas?

My battery is holding charge just fine. My phone hasn't been plugged in since I left for lunch from work yesterday afternoon. I have used it to make several calls and emails since yesterday and it's still showing a full charge.
Of course I live in an area that has really good coverage as well, so my phone doesn't search for signal that much.
I can report the same... no noticed change to battery life.
I have noticed a massive change with battery life. Also i cant go a call more than 30sec with out it breaking up, never a problem before with 1.34
Anyone else experiencing this problem?
I have been running version 2.11 for the HTC Qtek (South Africa) on my imate JasJam, it was running 1.38.00.10
I upgraded the radio to 1.38.30.10, and three times in 24 hours now I've noticed that the jasjam was asking for my PIN code and had switched the phone off.
This never happened with the earlier 1.38.
Has anyone experienced something similar ?
Thanks
JY
No, not to me..
Maybe depends by the ROM installed..
I upgraded the Radio for 2 days and can tell the followings: -
The time required to search network in Hong Kong (3 HK) has been reduced and the signal is stronger than 1.38.00.10. However, I notice one problem, I tried to call my mobile a few times after the upgrade, and 2 out of 10 calls had been directed to voice mail (signal was strong at that time). Don't know it is the problem of this rom or I had that problem long ago (as I hadn't tried before to call myself so many time).

what Radio ROM to choose

I just read the comments about the Radio ROM 1.48.00.0 and I'm not conviced I should upgrade, however I am useing 1.47.00.10 now and it sucks. I hardly get any signal. It took the hermes about 20km on the motorway to fetch a proper signal so I could call home (very irritating)
I hear some people talking about 1.43 being the best. Also some sounds that only the first ROM is generic and the rest is specific for the provider it was stripped from. Other users experience batterydrain with specific ROMs. There is no real favourite anyway
So my question is, which ROM is the best? I am in Europe most of the time so my focus will be on that functionality.
Please post your suggestions
Cheers!
For me the best is 1.43.
I installed 1.47, and I have a lot of problems with internet connection and missed calls.
Could you post please the link to the thread for the 1.48.00.00 bad comments?

Not specifically bad comments. It seems to work fine for the AT&T community, but not for others.
Big comments post
So why we don't make a bir query, a big post where people could speak they're experience with different radios, in an Standardized aproach, like:
-Phone Model:
-OS in use:
-Operator in use and actual location in the world:
-Radio Rom's used and the opinion on each of them:
What do you think??? I'm reading a lot to discover wich one to upgrade... But there are so many different opinions...
Can nobody on XDA decipher these radios and tell us exactly what's different with each? Higher frequency in one part of the band or some sort? I have no idea... almsost seems like for all we know, all the radios are exactly the same the manufacturers just rename them each time they release it with a new ROM.
im a cingular user and tried 1.48 and i know it did not work good for me .. went back to 1.47
im on tmob and i notice 1.48 doesnt perform as well as 1.43/1.46 never tried 1.47
I'm also on t-mobile and 1.47 has much better reception and battery life than 1.48.
I found 1.43 is best for AT&T in Southern California. I tried 1.48 and 1.47, but 1.48 drained battery too fast, and 1.47 only gave so so signal strength.

I just upgraded to 1.48 a few days ago and had a chance to test it from where I live in Palmdale out to Ontario yesterday. I noticed the same thing too. On a full charge all night on the wall I was able to take a single 10 minute call and use the internet for about 15 minutes. By the time I was heading back home my battery was almost drained! My power settings put the phone to sleep after 1 minute on battery power and my screen backlight is set to 30% on battery power. Definitely not acceptable! I think I will give 1.43 a try.
1.43 is amazing for battery life. i will not be upgrading to 1.47/1.48
I have tried them all (Rom's and Radio's). For me in the Netherlands is probably the 1.47 the best option. In combination with Schap's Rom even the power consumption is acceptable. I travel a lot and come often in Germany and Belgium too. No problemos with my combination!
The best option for you is try them out!
Good Luck with it.

Your case is a bit too weird. But I have tested all 1.40/41/43/47 and 1.48
1.48 is definitely drains power much faster than other radio version and without any extra benefits.
I will suggest 1.41 and 43 (they are both good and stable) but I am now testing 1.47.
BTW, I believe it also depends on where is your location and also the network operator. If your area or your operator has weaker network, the device needs more power to get signal (by my common sense)

Best Radio for T-Mobile UK?

My Hermes is Currently on 1.51.00.10 with rom version 3.54.255.3
Battery is getting absolutely caned and service seems to be very patchy.
Has anyone else flashed their T Mobile Hermes? I know T won't be upgrading to 6, which is kinda lame.
I've got WM6 Black Satin and radio rom 1.43.00.00
Battery seems to be taking a beating with Bluetooth on as well.
Other than that it's totally brilliant.
Doogs.
I am on 1.50 that comes with the T Mobile WM6 (not for sale) Rom.
Seems to be working lovely and battery life fine bu I do use the streaming alot so purchased a nice cheap second battery on Ebay.
I've got 1.50 and Black Satin and find thats pretty much okay, helps if you do things like turn down the screen brightness and turn of 3G/HSDPA unless you absolutely need high speed data transfers.
GPRS works pretty well for my e-mail and web browsing.
I do love web n walk
I'm on schap's 3.60a and radio 1.50...battery does seem to get drained but i have 3g/hsdpa on all the time and syncing with windows live and exchange server. Do need to recharge th ebattery everyday.
Im with TMobile as well, Im currently on:
ROM: Black Dymond
Radio: 1.41.00.10
Location: London
I tend to charge my phone every evening, so cant comment on the battery life.
My reception kinda sucks though, any suggestions as to what the best radio version is?
I've been using 1.50 since it came out, and it's definitely a good 'un! The 3G/HSDPA signal works perfectly (1.51 doesn't work on 3G for T-Mob UK) and download speeds are generally 900kbps+ when the network isn't playing silly beggars. Call quality seems OK, but I don't actually use my phone for calls much. Battery life is fine, but again I play with it so much that I always charge every night.
Plus, the version number is higher than all the 1.4x ones, and everyone knows a higher version number is more important than almost anything else!!!

Really? That can't be right, stuff loads lightning fast when it actually works.
Actually the little 3G icon on the phone sometimes changes to an 'H' also. That kinda weirded me out.
I might try going back to something earlier.
I get the H icon appear but only get like 120kbit/s or 190 max?
Isnt 900 like you mention the above the equivilent of nearly a 10mb line or have i got my bytes and bits mixed up or something lol?
I switched from the official WM5 that came with the Vario II to the unofficial W6 with radio 1.50. At the beginning it was working ok, however battery life was about 50% of what it used to be, so not too great but ok.
Recently the phone part freezes more and more, especially when I try to dial, ‘dialing’ just hangs on the screen, and after a while I get a 'operation failed' balloon. The phone also looses signal quite often and switches between GPRS and 3G, although my office normally has excellent T-Mobile reception. Only soft resetting brings back the signal, and sometimes I even have to repeat this several times.
So this morning I switched to 1.48, but still seem to have the same problem loosing the signal.
Maybe I should just try installing the whole ROM again, cause I can’t figure out if a particular software is causing the problems. and it seems I'm the only one who has these problems.
One thing though, I am definitely 100% sure that this unofficial T-Mobile Rom was not intended for the Vario II. Maybe for the new Kaiser, but TM was and is definitely not working on updating old Window Mobile 5 devices already sold.
I have a similar pattern of poor reliability and battery drain emerging after a very good start with Radio 1.50. I can't see why this would happen though, it was originally very good and I have only installed one new app since then (SPB Time, which I took off again).
Currently almost all calls drop within 2 minutes and Internet Sharing is intermittent over 3G/H.
Anyone recommend a stable Radio for Tmob UK?

I went back to 1.46 and internet sharing is rock solid and it seems better with regards to holding a signal.
It's not perfect but pretty close, still have the occasional missed call without the phone ringing but thats exagerated because I am on a borderline 3g 3g area, batt life is good too.

OK, I'm sold, I will have a go with it and report back.
I'm still using 1.27 tried 1.40.30 and 1.50 and a few others but although data was fine on them i had loads of people who couldn't get through to me, straight to answer phone or would ring there end but not mine. never had a problem with 1.27 but will keep trying the new ones
I have been using 1.50 since it came out and have not had any problems with it at all. Battery life is very good. Phone rings after 1-2 rings on the other end. No dropped calls due to my end.
Will look out for the problems people seem to be having here though.
I have just changed my UK T-Mobile MDA Pro for a Vario 2, and one of the first things I did was to flash it with the unofficial T-Mobile WM6 upgrade. After about a day, I started to experience lockups on the phone and GPRS. So I went back to WM5 (found a T-Mobile WM5 on the Wiki, albeit Hungarian!). That cured the lockups. The weird thing is that the radio remained as the upgraded 1.50.
My conclusion is, WM6 is not yet compatible with T-Mobile UK.

Syd, don't give up so easily on WM6! I've been using it since the first test ROMs surfaced - the main reason being I wanted to get rid of the daily lock-ups I was experiencing on WM5. I haven't had a lockup for months now, and can go several days without resetting the phone (generally do it whenever the available RAM figure gets lower than I'd like). The T-Mobile WM6 ROM was just a test ROM and as such may well have bugs. I'd suggest trying some of the Chef cooked ROMs over on the WM6 forum, or trying Pandora if you know what you want.
T-Mobile and WM6 make a wonderful partnership, believe me!

Confused Stu, Thanks for those encouraging words. I will indeed take the plunge again, and go for a cooked WM6 ROM. At the moment, I am torn between TNT 2.0 and Schap's Pro 3.6.
Thanks again for the reassurance.
I got my Vario II at the weekend so I can't really comment on improvement from the defaults, but I upgraded straight away to Schap's Pro 3.6 and the 1.50 radio and everything is stable.
I am thinking of changing to Black Satin though, just to see the difference.
Yet to really put the device through a tough test though, will let you know if I manage to get a day's use out of it when I'm caning it hard.
I've had 1.50 for about a month. It took me a while to realise I was NEVER getting 3G (I put it down to TM's flakey coverage at first!).
Also noticed I kept failing to get to the phone in time to answer calls (2-3 rings max) - At first I though my voicemail setting were too aggressive, then I tested by calling myself and realised it was ringing 2-3 times before the Hermes even woke up I put this down to the usual windows bloat at first but after reading here I see other people associate this problem with the radio firmware.
Oh, and battery life is appalling. Have been caught out several times, and it's down to 20-40% by the evening if I don't use it for anything. Definitely DOESN'T make it through the night if I forget to charge.
Just gotta work out which version to switch too... !

1.56.70.11 radio rom for Hermes

i have Cingular 8525 and have just finished the radio upgrade to 1.56.70.11. and i can say that it's pretty good, no it;s awesome! the signal went 1 bar up! and I'm happy I did it!thanks to wiki!

I just flashed this. Will see how it goes and report. update..I have not noticed any difference than with 154.30.10
AT&T Phoenix Az USA
Remember, the radio rom is carrier specific. Just because its awesome for one person doesn't mean it will be good for you and your carrier. Try to minimize flashing of radio rom as it is the ONE thing that pretty much results in a PERMANENT BRICK, at this time, if the flashing is interrupted..
Cheers....
Has anyone in Australia tried this Radio Rom on their phones using Telstra? If so, do you recommend it?

So far looks fine.
drained my hermes battery from 94% to 68% now in just 3hours time. no calls or other wireless activities going on, just a few sms. reverting back to 1.47.... i forgot the numbers

but for this radio rom my battery usage is lower.. then 1.54.30.10

well after using this radio rom i came back to 1.43.10.70 the reason is that 1.56 uses way too much power, and this one is perfect for me using battery and it picks a good signal.
flashed this radio - from first impression the radio rom is good (receiving, data transfer ,,,)
will test for few days and report
i am on Orange Israel

Problem with network signal on Sim 1 or Sim 2

I use a X829 4/64 GB and i recently noticed that i DO NOT HAVE ANY MOBILE NETWORK SIGNAL on Sim 1 (no data no calls). The truth is that during the last time i stopped using my le max 2 as my daily phone, so although i flashed many different " eui" roms i did not tried to insert my sim cards in the phone and try make any calls as i had no problem in the past. Yesterday i flashed AICP - Oreo - X2 (very good by the way) and this time i have the same problem with Sim 2. Some members have created similar threads in the past but i did not found any solution. I really wonder if someone here has any idea or any solution

I really appreciate your reply. Thank you. To be honest I already had this in mind but i finally solved the problem after flashing the zip file that andr68rus gave at this post:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=71130265&postcount=5
Just to notice that, although i am not totally sure (since i had to use my phone for a long time), i think that the network quality is also better now as i think that i have better signal than before

I did not went back to stock. I flashed the zip when i was on latest Cuoco92 23s rom (coming from Oreo, as i was trying to find a solution) and then i flashed Oreo again. In both cases i had both sim cards wotking with a better (as i belieeve) network signal than the previous months i used my phone
I had the same problem with my network and the newest cuoco92 rom, but flashing the zip-file of andr68rus seems to have solved the problem! At least at the moment, the networks works again und I also have the feeling, the strength of the connection is much better than ever before!
Update:
The flash somehow only worked shortly. After a day or so, I had the same problem again. No network at all ( (neither data nor for phone calls), although the phone shows good network connetction! Strange.

For testing reasons i'm using the phone continuously for more than two weeks and i have not any problem at all. Considering that the network signal is better either at my home and at my work i believe that the zip from andr68rus made the "miracle". Of course i do not know what the zip file really did after flashing it (and if the better network signal is because of it) but i can "enjoy" the results
can i flash this on oreo

My sim sometimes shows no service when I switch data from 1 sim to another sim. After restart or several times turning on/off then it shows my sim.
Don't know if it's rom related issue or not but I want to try this zip as users reported that it works like magic.
Is it OK to flash?
Thankyou for your response

When you switch data from the one sim to the other it is normal to loose the signal for a while . It happens with every phone but normally the signal "comes" back again in a few seconds. I don't know if the zip will work for your problem but why don't you ask andr68rus "directly"?
So it's normal?
Yup that exact scenario. So if it's normal then I think it's ok.
I have already flashed this zip and now my data works better then ever. I have sent him pm but he didn't reply. Now you already cleared things up for me. Thanks for your response.
Can someone tell me does both sim slots supports LTE or not?
I am wondering if it might be possible, that this data connection issue is related to the battery status of the phone?
At least, with a fully charged battery fresh from the charger (for example in the morning), I typically always have good connection. The same when loading during the day. But then, and after a while without charging I loose connection or it gets more unstable at least.
Did somebody observe something similar?

Yes. Both sim slots support LTE (but as every phone, not at the same time of course)

It "sounds" strange. Personally i never had similar problems nad i think that this is not a common problem
I found that on a German website, the same problem that I observed concerning the network connection and the battery was also reported. For everybody able to read German, you find it here:
https://www.android-hilfe.de/forum/leeco-le-max-2-x820-x821-x822.2715/lte-bricht-zusammen-keine-verbindung-bei-akku-unter-60-mit-netzteil-ok.860971.html
They report that the network works very stable as long as the battery voltage is above 4 V. Once it is lower, the phone loses connection. If this is generally true, then this might be the problem in my case. With the phone coming from the charger, the voltage is about 4.3 V, but relatively quickly if falls below 4 V.
Is this purely a battery problem? Or could maybe some software modifications somehow help?

i wish to know this too did you find a solution?
No, but I will let the battery change. I can update you if this is successful or not!

Please add me to update.
As mentioned in another thread, I have been experiencing the same problem when the battery level goes down to 70% or less (~4volt) the mobile network indicator still shows good signal but both voice and data stop working ie. cannot make or receive phone calls and no internet connectivity. But as soon as I plug in the charger, everything works perfectly.
