So my Samsung Galaxy s2 has no password and is simply using a slide to unlock.
I've been using widget locker in combination with mclock in order to customize how my lockscreen looks.
Being the super perfectionist that I am, in order to have my lock screen look perfect I allowed widgets to overlap in widgetlocker in order to have my mclock and unlocking slider fit in the correct spaces. Usually my unlock slider would work if I added it after adding the mclock, but after getting a text message for some reason the order of importance has reverted and now I cannot slide my unlocker D:
What do?? The mclock widget is now on top of the slider and I can't unlock my phone. Remember there is no password, pin, or pattern lock. I have also disabled all of the buttons so pressing back, home, or menu does nothing.
Is there any way to remotely kill widget locker? Do I have to factory reset? (Please nooooooo)
Thanks for taking the time to read this!
Edit: Galaxy S2*
does your galaxy s2 have a "safe mode" that you can boot into and uninstall widget locker?
Not that I'm aware of. I'm relatively new to this phone. I'll do a quick google search to see what I can do though.
Have you tried uninstalling it via your pc (http://blog.artuc.net/how-to-uninstall-android-applications-via-your-computer/).
Attempting right now. Downloading all of the required necessities.
My phone is in debug mode and a feature of debug mode on the S2 is that when you plug it in in order to connect you have to press "connect" through the phone's interface before your phone appears connected on the computer.
This might be a problem because I followed the steps in the link that you sent me Theonew and on the cmd prompt after typing in "adb.exe uninstall com.teslacoilsw.widgetlocker" the reaction code i get is "- waiting for device -"
So no cigar I guess. Anything else I could try?
Resolved my own issue. I booted it up in recovery mode and wiped the cache. This booted me past the lockscreen and into the homescreen where I could promptly resize my lockscreen widgets. Thanks for the help and suggestions though everyone!

I should have known. Since you said you didn't want to factory reset, I ruled out dealing with recovery as an option not remembering wiping cache alone could do the trick. Glad you solved it though .
Hey all.
Anyone having issues with adding widgets on screen?
Whenever I add a widget its invisible.
If I hold down on space to resize it selects widget outline but still invisible. I can drag outline to delete it but Still cant see it.
I either need to reboot phone or wait like 5mins and eventually it will show.
Its really annoying !
Happened to me just once with a Factory Widgets clock. It occured after playing with many widgets for some time (downloading, testing and removing).
It never occured again.
My advice: Restart your device and try again. If it does not solve the problem, maybe you need to reset your Razr.
This is driving me totally nuts I have been trying for ages to figure this out and can't get it.
Samsung Galaxy S2 Totaly stock unrooted Android 2.3.5
My home screen had 4 icons at the bottom for quick launch.
Phone contacts messaging applications
Contacts is redundant since you can access that through the phone icon as well and I never use text messages so I swapped 2 of them for other apps so now the home screen is like this:
Phone Gmail Whatspp Applications
This is fine right up until I restart the phone
When it restarts all 4 are there until is "scans usb storage" at which point the gmail icon disappears
I have to manualy change my application tray from list back to grid view and then edit to put the icon back and then put it back in list view
The icon will then stay until the next restart
As I say this is driving me up the wall
Things I have tried:
Full factory reset and reconfigure the phone
Reboot of phone with tray in both list and grid mode
Clear data from twLauncher and set everything back up again
With and without external SD card installed in phone
No matter what I do as soon as I reboot that icon is gone and it always appears to be gmail.
And please I don't want people telling me to install a different launcher or to root the phone. I don't want it rooted and I tried the other launchers and don't like them
Dude - Sorry i dont have advice for you..but im sitting with something similiar..
Non-rooted phone..but when I reboot phone, the bottom icons (tray), get replaced by my last downloaded apps..for example, skype, flashlight and astro file manager...
After the phone has finished scanning they all return back to normal.
Im guessing this is some random bug, as I also tried clearing data from TWLAUNCHER and within time, after downloading some more apps, the same problem occurs.
Cheers

Using: EnSec Enhanced Security + Operative w TWRP. WP8 Launcher
I checked the "Always show statusbar" option in Swipe Status Bar. It works, shows the status bar constantly, BUT... Now I can't launch any applications except for the ones that are linked in the main launcher screen. When I swipe right to the drawer, tapping any app has no effect. It seems like it's blocking applications from either detecting screen taps or opening at all.
Even in the few I can launch, like Settings, it doesn't detect when I tap any of the menu options. I can scroll up and down, and pull down the status bar, but I cant make the SSB control panel open again to disable the option.
I tried booting into safe mode, but it still launches SSB so the problem persists. I tried changing to Smart Launcher, same problem.
Is there any way to prevent Swipe Status Bar from starting up?

Same problem here, except I stayed in the SSB settings long enough to discover that unchecking that check box again is one of the things that having it checked prevents you from doing. Long story short, I think this has probably made the decision for me whether or not to switch from EnSec+Operative to Loki's new ROM...because I am not sure there's any way out of this without flashing.
I had the same issue,
Only thing I could do was open up play store and uninstall.
It took forever to figure it out and took many tries till it finally registered my clicking.
If all else fails, you may need to wipe the watch via recovery and start over.
I have since stopped using the app as I never want to go through that nightmare again.

How do I get Swipe Status Bar to work?
Launch Swipe Status Bar
Select the first two options
Done

Now your only options are to either factory reset in TWRP or flash back to stock and start over.

Bummer.
Not sure the quote was relevant.
Should have checked the app's page when I saw that feature though:

...Granted, it doesn't mention anything else not working, but that would probably have been enough to keep me from experimenting, even though it still wouldn't have led me to think that checking the box would make it impossible to uncheck the box...

Found another way!
...For those who are remotely comfortable with adb, anyhow.
adb shell 'pm clear cz.chladek.swipe_status_bar'
This is essentially a force-stop and clear app data on Swipe Status Bar. Only works if you already had usb debugging enabled or find a way to enable it, of course.
Thanks for the tip Kilroo, but it was too late for me. I went TWRP and wiped it. Yeah, it cost me a lot of customizations gone, but at least I didnt hand anything there that wasn't backed to the cloud.
One silver lining: Now I get to rebuild the launcher, icons, widgets etc in a bit more usable form. AND I'm staying away from that SWB setting until is out of beta! Thanks for the help, all!

I was afraid of that. Well, maybe if anyone else makes the same mistake it will help them.
I'm still trying to figure out whether I want to go from EnSec+Operative to the new Unified Rom doohickey or not, since I no longer have to redo everything regardless.
I've been using nova launcher for months and finally uninstalled the stock S launcher. Today, I went to put my phone into ultra power saving mode and now I cannot exit it. If I get a notification, I can switch to that app and get into system settings, but I cannot exit ultra power saving mode. Without a notification, I can't even turn the screen off. The home button does nothing (no launcher) and the UPSM toggle is missing from the notification window.
So, my question is- does anyone have the stock APK for the Samsung launcher -OR- know an ADB command or some other way to get out of UPSM?
You didn't say whether you looked at the full quick settings palette or just the selected tiles subset? You should find the power saving tile on the full palette. Also does the phone exit UPSM when you fully charge the phone battery?
If that doesn't work, then just download the firmware for your phone and you can extract the stock launcher with winrar.

There are no settings tiles. After I get a notification, I can pull down the notification screen (not before) and hit the gear to get the settings page. In there, there's only wifi, bluetooth, airplane mode, mobile networks, location, sound, and brightness. There's no way to get rid of UPSM.
Fully charging it didn't work. Fully discharging it didn't work. Wiping cache and dalvik didn't work.
Can you provide a link to the file in question? I'm not entirely clear on your terminology. I thought the firmware was just for the radio and such while the rom had the program files?

Have you rebooted? Usually does it for me.
I tried taking the battery out, restoring my SYSTEM backup from a few months ago, upgrading to a newer version of the stock rom, and nothing works.
Everything I've tried ends up with the phone going back into UPSM with no way to leave it.

If you are using TWRP there is a file manager under advanced. Use that to navigate to the /system/app directory and rename "Emergency" apk to have .back appended to the end after the .apk. This will "hide" it from the system and should disable it. Btw the name of the apk has Emergency in it i don't recall the exact name of it though.

No we can't. And the reason that we can't is that you didn't provide any details about your phone. The firmware is different for every model of S5 and carrier. We don't know if you have a 900T, 900F, 900A or some other S5 version. We can't see your phone and can do little unless you provide extensive details.
Simply go to a firmware site like sammobile, click on firmware and enter the model number of your phone. Or do a search of this forum. Then use the Odin program to write that firmware (factory software) to your phone.
.
I'm having the same issue on a Verizon S5. Under /system in twrp I don't see anything. Tried chmod but didn't help. Any suggestions?
Apps Drawer
Same thing happened to me. Mine was stuck in between normal and Ultra. I was able to go to my apps drawer, clicked on the gear/settings, found Power then disabled Ultra Power Saving mode there.
I had same issue and I SOLVED it.
No disable option in the notification drawer. Gear 'setting' option (in the notification drawer) only display few setting options (no disable ultra saving mode).
I solve the issue by holding down the HOME button to trigger Google NOW app. In the search bar of Google NOW app, I clicked the microphone button and said "OPEN SETTINGS". This will open the full version of setting window. If you scroll down, you will see the 'POWER SAVING MODE', click it and you will see the disable "ULTRA POWER SAVING MODE" option.
It's a unusual way but it worked.
I also faced the same issue while running Action Launcher 3. Google Now wasn't working for me, so the way I solved it is:
- press and hold the menu button (capacitive button on the left) and select "Manage Apps"
- from the three dots on the top right corner select "Reset app preferences"
- reboot
- pressing the home button showed up "TouchWiz Home", which then allowed me to select "Disable Ultra Power Savings mode"
-done
HTH
I have they same problem with S5 LTE+ on Android 4.4.4. (I hate this ****ing bad Samsung Software!!!!) The above two posts unfortunatly don't work for me because Google Now is not working and Home Button does nothing.
I will try to launch settings due adb if I find a PC to do this (Unfortunatly I'm on holiday at the moment)
Were you able to figure this out? Facing the same issue on my friends phone. Can't believe Samsung would takeover the phone like this.

Best I remember, it had something to do with disabling the stock launcher and I ended up reflashing.
thug_life_inc brought me to my personal solution. I had the problem with the Google Now Launcher. And there is the possibility to go to the app info by placing an app on the home screen, but not dropping it there, but above it (you know the area where you can access app info / delete the app).
That brought me to the settings page for the google app where i could delete the standard launching options.
I had very low battery (maybe 3 or 2%) and then i activated the ultra power saving mode. After a while, the phone battery died, so I recharged it. The problem now is that I got stucked in UPSM. Everything is black and white, I have no acces at any of my apps and the settings is incomplete, I mean I don`t find the "disable UPSM" function. I also cannot factory reset the phone, same reason, I only have acces to wi-fi, bluetooth, volume, brightness and location.
Thank you!!!!

Thank you! It worked for me!
I tried multiple methods include using microphone to trigger Google Now but still nothing in Settings. The idea is trigger the Launcher Picker. here are some notes
Wish I new this sooner, wasted a whole day figuring it out. This fix is way easier
The easy fix - just open the app drawer, drag the google app to app info and drop, clear defaults , when prompted choose you service providers origional default launcher

That is not possible .. in UPSM there is no app drawer or any apps settings.
