hermes with 128MB RAM? possible? - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam Software Upgradin

is it possible to upgrade our hermes to 128mb of ram??
anyone done it yet?

I've seen somebdy changed in China..
I ve seen a thread in my home's forum, and the key of RAM upgrade is that we must find a technical manual for Hermes' original RAM and the RAM series that will be supported by the mainboard. If u've done this and have got a RAM chip...do it.

Na, i've found the thread.
I'll translate them into English line by line
I placed a pic of Hermes' RAM in attachment.
CHT 9000 可以升级到 2G 内存!(仅供参考)
CHT 9000 can upgrade to 2G RAM (for REFERENCE only)
HTC Hermes (CHT9000)系列的产品采用的是 三星 K5D5657ACA-D090 估计可以换成同品牌型号类似的字库 ,至少 HTC 公司内部有人就成功了
HTC Hermes uses product of Samsung K5D5657ACA-D090, and it may be replaced by the same product. At least we have some successful examples from a staff in HTC.
Samsung K5D5657ACA-D0900
The K5D5657ACA is a Multi Chip Package Memory which combines 128Mbit Nand Flash Memory and 64Mbit synchronous high data rate Dynamic RAM. 128Mbit NAND Flash memory is organized as 16M x8 bits and 64Mbit SDRAM is organized as 1M x16 bits x4 banks. In 128Mbit NAND Flash, a 528-Byte page program can be typically achieved within 200us and an 16K-Byte block erase can be typically achieved within 2ms. In serial read operation, a byte can be read by 50ns. DQ pins serve as the ports for address and data input/output as well as command inputs. Even the write-intensive systems can take advantage of FLASH¢s extended reliability of 100K program/erase cycles with real time mapping-out algorithm. These algorithms have been implemented in many mass storage applications. In 64Mbit SDRAM, Synchronous design make a device controlled precisely with the use of system clock and I/O transactions are possible on every clock cycle. Range of operating frequencies, programmable burst length and programmable latencies allow the same device to be useful for a variety of high bandwidth, high performance memory system applications. The K5D5657ACA is suitable for use in data memory of mobile communication system to reduce not only mount area but also power consumption. This device is available in 107-ball FBGA Type.

is it possible to get the chip from other htc model?
i have a number of bricked htc himalayas, blueangel, even universal.
what about from hard drive? or computer ram?

Could you post the link of your home's forum here? Cause I am very interested in this upgrading for Hermes!
By the way, I can read simplified-Chinese!
Thanks in advance!

you may not read this thread until u've got ID.

Problem is, because this is an FBGA type chip, it's a PITA to remove and resolder. You really do need special tools for it.

Since TYTn II is the upgrade of CHT9000, could it be a reference?
Since TYTn II is the upgrade of CHT9000, could it be a reference?
I think we need to prepare at least three things:
1. We need to know if the design of the motherboard can support 128MB RAM;
2. We need to know which IC can be used in CHT9000;
3. We already have ROM that can support 128MB RAM.
I mention TYTn II is beacause we may get imformation from it about point 1 to point 3.
Suppose we can use the same chip that TyTn II is using, we can take a risk to do the upgrade.

BGA packaging is a royal arseache to try and do manually, infact im pretty sure its not possible using traditional methods, we are talking pick-n-place reflow soldering here, not using an iron.

I think, samsung processor cannot address more than 64 MB RAM.Some one posted this already in this forum. So as of now it is not possible

mission impossible

.. additionally it would be even harder to remove the RAM and FLASH MultiChipPackage from the Samsung MCU.
The picture shown above is the MCP for the radio chipset!!
Have a look at the detailed user manual.
... think wiki link to this manual does not work anymore???
P.S.: if someone's interested i may upload the manual

Pocketpctechs 128mb RAM Upgrade

I purchased an SX56 with PPCtech RAM upgrade only to discover that flashing the rom leaves one with a non-functioning battery consuming memory chip that can not be read. UNLESS THESE GUYS HAVE A PRACTICAL SOLUTION TO THIS PROBLEM I THINK THE 128mb RAM UPGRADE SHOULD BE AVOIDED. I CAN HARDLY SEE THE ADVANTAGE ANYWAY. OVER A REMOVABLE SD CARD.
I think you need to email them for a new code to enable access to the memory upgrade,
Take a look at

How Can WALLABY Memory be increased

Wallaby has a 32 mb built in memory. How can this be increased. If so How MUCH & How?
Note i have installed a 128 mb SD card and have installed most of the softwares on it but my system shows low memory while the SD card is nearly 50% empty.
I have tried to use the slider in the settings to increase the momory but it slides back and is not releasing more memory for the system.
kindly advise how to increase the momory
regards

There is a company that adds physical ram to the phone but now that prices for the xda 1 are so low I would not consider that as a realistic option. You could maybe buy an xda 1 with 64 megs of memory and a broken screen and transplant the mother board to your phone.
I think he might not know that he might free up some memmory on his devices rom. If I were you sir, I would sync my data (not backup), hard reset, reinstall everything into where I wanted it, and resync. If you have experience with hot air rework, or have a friend, you might aquire the chips and do it yourseld. THen again, if you didn't know you could add memmory to a wallaby, then you probably shouldn't do that. Be careful and good luck!
PS I'm not responsable if you junk your device, I am only giving suggestions of what could be done, not telling you it should be done!
Even by physically adding the memory chips you can get only 64meg, anything above that has to be software driven paged memory I think, bit like using a fast sd card.
I know that 128+ mb requires a driver.... I wonder if you could get in 96 somehow???? anyone done that?
I think the hardware limits direct memory access above 64.
can the chips be stacked? I thought I had read that somewhere; cut a certain pin(s) and solder/joint a second chip ontop of the origionals?????
are the user accessable ram and rom on the same chip or are they seperate chips?
could the rom size be increased? (never looked into it)
Where would one acquire the chips?

Possible to Install bigger RAM chip???

Anyone capable of doing such upgrade??? guys Mogul needs a memory boost to be an ultimate device. it must be possible to preform a Ram upgrade lets brain storm this and make a step by stem mod chip like mod or even some one could start a service perhaps.
what is needed......

Someone with intimate knowledge of the memory map and microcode for the Qualcomm processor inside. This person would have to determine if there is sufficent address space above or below the existing RAM and impliment it in a new firmware flash. I am wondering myself if the reason for the small RAM might be that there is or was no address range available for it, or just maybe short sighted designer decided that this was all that would be needed. If the latter is true then it would be possible. Lastly I would mention that a really good station and tech would be required to change out the RAM for a larger chip, assumeing that one existed in the same package. Might have better luck doing a RAM based add to the microSD slot by adding to a custom engineered card. If someone did that then the applications could be mapped to addresses that already exist and are known. You would end up with a microSD card with maybe 4 gigs of flash and a few gigs of RAM ??????? That might be easier. Food for thought.

Asus P750 and 128MB RAM?

Hi, is there a way to upgrade my Asus Ram memory to 128MB?
I already have the new firmware VGA from Sorg.
Thanks for your help!
not sure how much ram it have to begin with but adding more ram
would include solvering out smd memory chips which is something
best left to people who are pro at it
you can try searching for threads about the stores who offer it for surden
htc devices and see if they do it for other devices
Yes, it is possible. just google
asus p750 128 ram site:asusmobile.ru
and you`ll find the make of the ram you need to solder. anyone who can solder bga can do it for you
mod ram asus P750 bay Ram O2xdaII?
Ram has replaced O2xdaii for P750? same name but O2xdaii Ram chips have 64MB? I do not understand, O2xdaII there is 128MB RAM. thanks all! Hepl pls!

RAPH500 with 192mb ram is it possible

I have a raph500 and all the forums say it has crippled ram and in my eyes crippled means its there but you can't use it so i browsed the net and found this info here
pdadb.net/index.php?m=pdacomparer&id1=1389&id2=1311&id3=1386&id4=1547&del_id=1389[/url]
it says the raph500 has 192mb and only 113 is usable
and i also read about the XIP and how it controls everything including ram addresses and blocks so i was wondering if it is possible to get that info from the XIP on the phones with the same ram size (raph100,raph110,diam400) and put it in for the raph500 to use the rest of the ram i dont have the knowledge to do this to try it out its just an idea that makes sense if some one finds a way to do this i am willing to help any way i can
sorry for the lack of grammar
It is crippled because everyone else has 288 MB RAM. Usable RAM is Base memory minus OS Load = Usable. For example, on my TP2 I have 288MB Ram ... System steals 100 MB, leaving 188..... open processes use 90 so I have only 98 out of 288. You would only have 6 MB free in this same scenario. Hope this helps.
question
first off i have touch pro verizon and i'm trying to find some or some way to uncripple my phone if possible. i have raph 800 (i believe) and its unlocked and where can i get raph 500 so that i can put it on my phone and what is the difference be 500 and 800.
Touch Pro and Touch Pro 2 are all the same guts (288 MB RAM and 528 MB ROM)
You cannot "uncripple" your phone. Sorry it is just the way Verizon ordered them from HTC.
RAPH 800 (288MB RAM) is the sprint touch pro. RAPH 500 (192 MB RAM) is Verizon. So you already have a RAPH 500. These device codes are specifically different varieties that HTC makes per order of the Telecom Company...... nothing you can do to change it.
Sorry, but your only option for a fast system is to find a Light Rom. You may want to check out Lunacie on PPCGeeks. He makes a pretty good light rom for the Touch Pro.
is it possible to have raph 800 on a verizon phone?
not anymore. Used to be able to have verizon re-program your ESN..... but they wont do it anymore. If you used some creative web searching, there is also information about *faking* certain information to get a sprint phone on verizon network. (or you could use any other CDMA carriers phone.)
i have a phone from 08, but you said that its not possible to do anymore?
Please see above comment about "creative searching" if you look on either google or this site about changing providers and keeping your phone, you would be amazed what you can find.
