plantronics 320 dosnt work! - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam Accessories

my plantronics320 which i have used on 3 other phones does not seem to work with my TYTNII... wtf! it dosnt even detect it.

Came across your post while looking for help with my 590A
Hi DirtAddsHP,
I came across your post while scanning for help with a problem with my Plantronics 590A BT Stereo Headset. My phone (ATT 8525, WM6) detects and sets up my headset, but if I turn off my phone, or my headset, no longer sees it or connects when I turn them back on. I have to delete the profile and recreate it every time I want to use the headset. I wonder if our problems are related?
Plantronics tells me there is some issue with HTC devices and the way they handle BT. When I pressed them, they said it was a "known problem," and that it wasn't at their end. (Interesting that it isn't mentioned anywhere on their website, or KB, FAQs, or anywhere in their product descriptions.)
I'll post anything I find that might be helpful on this thread. Will you do the same? Good Luck!

If you really have a TyTN II then please refer to the Kaiser thread.
What Rom are you using? Might be a Bluetooth software glitch.

its a at&t tilt.. and i have no idea what a rom is

Hi DirtAddsHP and sdemon,
its a at&t tilt.. and i have no idea what a rom is
DirtAddsHP: the "Tilt" is ATT's version of the TyTN II, and "ROM" is how we refer to the version of the OS and batched apps that the phone runs on. When you got your Tilt, it already had a ROM from ATT flashed onto it. The version information can be found by looking in the "settings" menu in the "system" tab, and tapping "Device Information."
sdemon: I will move my question into the Kaiser forums, as my 8525 was stolen from me on Sunday.
ATT let me upgrade to the Tilt, which was less than buying a new 8525.

Pioneer DEH-P9800BT CD Receiver with Bluetooth

I have the thing basically working. I am also getting a Vox 710s to try as well.
My primary concern at this point is auto connect. I am a consultant and get in an out of the car a lot. So it is pointless if I have to click the stereo 6 times each time I get in. I need the thing to just work. I may return the deck if I can't get it too work.
So I need to find out where the failure is. Then I can pursue it with the manufacturer. Why can't this stuff just work?
So if I find a bluetooth headset that does auto connect to the phone do you think that is enough I can't got to pioneer and say the problem is your deck?
If the head set doesn't auto connect which I find hard to believe then I can work with jetware or cingular to see what is up. I am guessing it is the deck.
Thoughts
opps
phone is a cingular 8125 up to date roms running the latest Jetware.
another poster on crutchfeild says tmobile dash does autoconnect
does this narrow down the cause?
I spent over a month working with Pioneer and Jetware with an AVIC Z2 GPS unit with Pioneer's ND-BT1 adapter. In the end, I had to pull the Z2 and installed a Kenwood. Pioneer tech Support finally admitted that they suffer problems with nearly all PDA type phones, especially when they 'sleep'. Seems the connection is dropped nearly as fast as it is made and the devices won't stay connected. Mine dropped EVERY call when the backlight went out after 60 seconds of non-pda use. If i set time timer up to 5 minutes, it dropped the call when the PDA went to sleep. Leaving the PDA on all of the time of course drained the battery.
My wife now has the HTC Touch in her car with the AVIC Z2 and the ND-BT1, however, the problem isn't there. Pioneer has come out with a 'Service' upgrade program for the Z2 and the Touch uses a newer WM6 version. The two seem to be compatible.
thanks for the insight
Having just read the mk6000 review I don't feel so bad. I was wondering how well as system between your speakers and you deck would work.
That said I ordered an unlocked 710 (vox) to test out with wm6 and bt 2.
I am hoping this will work. Do you think I will still need Jetware?

Try it first without Jetware. It is now with at 30 day free trial and limited features but good enough to test once you get your new unit. If you find out that you need it, then register it.
I have had a Pioneer DEH-P9800BT for many months now, and I am getting sick of having to click 6 times to connect the phone. You would think that the stupid thing could perform the same thing when you turned on the car/stereo. I wish I could get a firmware update or something to fix it.
Replace your Pioneer with the one of the Sonys (MEX-5000BT if you need preouts, MEX-2500BT if you don't). I've been using the 5000 since January -- once I did the initial pairing, it connects every time both in handsfree & A2DP.

Fm Radio Hack?

I know there are probally Diamond threads about this but I have been told that what Sprint did to disable the FM Radio on the Pro is not the same. Has anyone figured out a hack or any way to enable the FM Radio? I have the headphones from my mogul which I'm told will work!
Thanks
I've heard a few people think they are close, but nobody has actually done it yet.
over at ppcgeeks some have managed to get it to lock to stations, but without audio, I think it'll be a matter of time before they get it working, just like what happened with the GPS on the Mogul (Titan)

That was no hack. Via HTC to Sprint it was first simply a leak and then an official release of an OS ROM & appropriate radio with the GPS drivers.
For an active FM radio on the CDMA Touch Pro it'll come to us either in the form of the hack or a more mundane delivery as with the Titan GPS by a carrier including its functional state in their ROM. Multiple carriers have now released the phone so the chances of the latter are increased.

Yeah, I know, I just meant that people didn't believe the Titan had a GPS chip, and with a little patience were proven wrong. I really do think that there are some brilliant minds looking into this, and the phone is really new, so they may be able to get it working.
Let's hope so! I'm fairly sure that it'll happen.

lock ups and BT problem

Hi all,
I have bought 3 x HTC S740 for my company. They are SIM free versions running on Vodafone UK. CE OS 5.2.20279 (Build 20279.1.3.4) - Radio 12.23.30.06H_0.24.30.24 - Ril Version 2.002.
The phones keep locking up (at least once a day). Nothing happens if I press any buttons. If I wait 3/4 minutes the phone will come back to life (and it'll actually start doing the commands I send with the previous button presses). It looks like it's a CPU problem.
Also, the bluetooth keeps disconnecting in the car. It shows as turned off on the phone and you have to restart the phone to be able turn BT back on.
Of course, HTC is no help. Is it worth trying a different ROM?
Thanks

I would say yes. I have non of the problems you mentioned, so they could be Vodafone ROM's bugs.
It's not running the Vodafone ROM; it's running the HTC one (SIM free). I was actually thinking of trying the Vodafone ROM. What ROM are you running?
Oh, I misread your post. Mine runs:
Rom version: 1.14.401.1
Rom date: 10/06/08
Radio version: 0.24.30.24
No significant problems with it so far.
My ROM version is 1.14.405.1 dated 27/10/08. Any chance you could extract your ROM and post it?
See my post about the bluetooth. Yes I tend to notice it when I have been using it in the car (you don't drive a BMW do you) but not always.
I am not getting any lock ups though.
Yes I saw your post. I drive a push bike The guy who uses the phone drives a Saab 93. His HTC S730 worked perfectly in that car. HTC said we should have checked the phone was compatible. Duck & dive!!

I am not sure this is a car kit related issue because my phone does work fine with the car it's just that every now any then, I notice that the bluetooth has switched off.
it does not do this whilst it is connected to the car. It's just that I come to make a call and realize that the phone has not connected because the BT has turned itself off at sometime before I got into the car.
I've not been able to recreate the problem. The Saab belongs to a Sales guy, so he's always running around and I can't keep up on my push bike but what he says is that Bluetooth switches off whilst connected in the car and then he can't turn it back on unless he restarts the phone.
Same Proble
I hve the same Problem with a Opel Astra. And thers no help from HTC.
I recently installed the Bluetooth update from the HTC website.
Since then the disconnecting from the car problem seems to have got an awful lot better. It now only seems to happen if I have previously disconnected a BT headset and then walked out the door and got straight in the car.
anyone solve it?
I have soled it using this...

Plantronics Voyager Pro

I love this headset design, and it will be my future one, but in the Plantronics Website it says that it's incompatible with the HTC Touch Pro2.
If you use this headset, please post your comments about it and if it fully works with the Touch Pro2.
EDIT: I've been looking and it's full compatible... the movies from the website product are great, but how it was during use. Some reviews talk well about it, but still...
i was thinking of getting this one to, so BT v2.0 phone should work with v1.2 headset??
can some one let me know if this is rong?
thanks
็But I just bought the Jawbone Prime instead, waiting to receive it now.
I guess it will work with my T-mo. TP2.
I think the best choice for Bluetooth Headsets now are
1. Plantronics Pro
2. Plantronics 925 (a bit old)
3. Plantronics 975
4. Blueant Q1
5. Jawbone Prime
6. The new Moto one that will be released soon.
Cheers
Mine Plantronics Voyager Pro is coming... I will post news as also a small review about it as soon he arrives.
I have the Voyager Pro and it has worked perfectly with my Touch Pro 2. I have the Verizon version.
Works great with the Verizon Touch Pro 2. Even Voice Command works. Only problem I have is you can answer, use volume etc.... but you can't hang up from the headset. Thats probably why they list it as incompatible.

Should but the Voyager Pro is Bluetooth v2.1 +EDR according to the box mine came in. Maybe its been upgraded since the specs where released. The Verizon Touch Pro 2 is also v2.1 bluetooth which is probably why it works so well.
I have the VZW TP2 and have the Plantronics Voyager Pro. It works 100% fine. Everything works... Easy to sync and voice works too. NP at all.
I must say that I'm very impressed with the Voyager Pro... Yes is a great headset, it deserves what it costs for sure... But something is missing. I saw images from the website that states that the PVP comes with a case for holding it... No case came in my box...
The case is not included in the box, but is available for purchase via the Plantronics Website for about $12 or $13. It is a fairly decent case with a belt clip and magnetic closure.

I tried to find it on the european Plantronics website but no luck... I really want to avoid customs...
I am using it with a Verizon Touch Pro 2 and am having problems answering and ending calls using the Voyager controls. I find if I click it twice it will usually answer but I haven't been able to hang up.
I know, I know, it just goes against everything geek and everything manly to read a manual, but may I suggest a quick browse? http://www.plantronics.com/media/media_resources/literature/user_guides/voyagerpro_ug_en.pdf page 8
both answer and hang up are under one second taps. (actually I'd say under a half second tap, it seems if your tap could be mistaken for a 1 second push it doesn't do anything due to the ambiguity.

How about rather than critisizing those of us who have read the manual, you do some reading on this form and see that the "hang-up" via any bluetooth connected device is having issues on this phone. We are not idiots who don't read as you are trying to imply we are.
Some of us have used this headset on multiple phones, and only had the issue on this phone.

At the request of the Plantronics technical staff, I deleted the Voyager Pro, turned off the Touch Pro 2. Took out the battery for 20 seconds then rebooted and added the Voyager Pro again. Now it will answer with one (1) "tap". I still have to use the phone to hang up. The voice quality of this unit is good enough on both ends that I will put up with the hang up problem. Is there a chance that Windows 6.5 will help? (I used the Voyager Pro for two months with a SCH-i760 with no issues.)

I would have to disagree. This individual was clearly implying that we are either incapable or unwilling to read a manual.

voice command problem
I have the TP2 and the plantronics 975.
Everything works well except voice command (using the windows voice command 1.6).
I can get the voice command to start by pressing the tp2s answer button for several seconds. Yet I am not able to use the bluetooth headset to activate voice command. In the manual it says hold for 2 seconds. When I do so it only gives out the first long beep, but nothing happens after that.
Does anybody know how I have to configure my tp2 or the headset to get this to work?
Thanks

E100 - Remote headset from HTC for Android

Hi,
So I did a lot of searching and didn't get a definitive answer. Seems as if the
http://onlyandroid.mobihand.com/pro...410&n=HTC Wired Remote Control Stereo Headset
headset works for some people depending on the ROM they have flashed. I have a HTC Rogers Dream with the 32B board and MGLINS 3.1 ROM. I am really curious if I can get this working on my phone. I have the old school casette adaptors and this would sound great on my phone. Plus I am bed ridden for the next few months so I would really love to be able to listen to music then have my hot laptop blasting heat on my face.
Could anybody shed some light on this?
Your HTC device may require a driver for this audio accessory to function correctly. If you experience any problems, then please download the driver from here, once the driver is downloaded, the file name needs to be renamed to zip.

Looking at your post, i was interested until i saw this. im a little confused on that. But if anyone can confirm this works on the dream on most roms, or what roms, it'd be nice. good find bro
First thing I noticed:
Compatible Devices:
HTC: HTC Hero, HTC Magic
Sprint: Sprint HTC Hero
T-Mobile: T-Mobile myTouch 3G
(One of these phones has built in FM radio?)
Dream/G1 not listed.
I wonder if it would work.
It has a built in microphone and uses any ear phones for the audio.
I can use my Skull candy ear phones with my calls! SWEET!
The file they offer for DL is an .exe file which opens up some cab files.
Funny thing...when I ran the install on my computer, with out the phone hooked up...it told me that I had the latest drivers on my phone and I did not need the file. I guess it's psychic.
Looks like a very nice headset. I wonder how long the cord is?
$7 cheaper on ebay, but they come from China.
Hmmm

Before you blow 30 dollars on this wired remote, lemme tell you this.....it DOESN'T WORK for Android phone. I bought the exact remote from a trusted ebay seller (his actual store/warehouse is literally 10 minutes away from my place, and I have meet the person).
The remote function doesn't work at all. Can't start/pause, skip track, etc. on my G1. Although, I tried it on my Tmo Wing (a WinMo phone), and it works flawlessly.
And the .exe file for the supposely driver download, it's WinMo drivers since it the exe file unzips a bunch of .cab files. As far as I know, there's no WIRED remote control for Android phone yet. The only thing that closely resemble that function would be a A2DP bluetooth headset, but bluetooth will suck your phone's battery juice worse that Edward Cullen from Twilight trying to be a vampire.
ichigoismyhomie - it does work for Android phones.
The manufacturer's site specifically states HTC Hero, HTC Magic, Sprint HTC Hero, T-Mobile myTouch 3G
All of which are Android phones.
Did you mean to say that it did not work on your G1?
Seems odd that it it will work on the mt3g, and not even be viable to work on the g1.
The 2 phones are sharing several other things, I wonder if its a simply a line in build.trout.prop file that activates the ability to use the headset.
So the questions are...
Can it be hacked to work?
and
What's it gonna take to do it?
and
Where can we get a headset to test on?

This is getting fishy. I was doing my own investigation on this wired remote. Apparently, the one I bought was a different but quite similar wired remote.
I found the same wired remote that OP mentioned on eBay, but there's 2 different model, E100 and W100. It's probably related to color but whatever.
I'm trying to get an official support from the HTC itself, because I can't see any official, 1st party online store from HTC at all. Every time I google'd "HTC store" or "HTC official store", I keep getting links to 3rd party sites that claims that they carry "official" HTC OEM accessories.
And also just like you said, it seems very odd that the product page for the remote that OP mentioned stated that it will work on mt3g and hero, but G1 is not listed as the compatible device. Those 3 phones are basically almost has the same hardware and inter-compatible software (with some mods of course).
Also, another yellow flag for me is that both eBay and OP's product page says that only use the remote on devices with integrated FM function, which is the feature that none of the HTC's current Android devices has.
so to answer your questions:
Can it be hacked to work (on G1, i presume)?
If anyone can confirm this remote works on mt3g/hero with a video proof, then I'm pretty sure this community can find the patch to make it work on G1.
What's it gonna take to do it?
see answer above
Where can we get a headset to test on?
I think you can always order it from OP's link or eBay. Feel free to try if you have 30 something bucks to burn. As for me, I think I would stay away because all these questionable indications (i.e. self-proclaim OEM title, non-existence for official HTC accessory store/page/info, contradicting product description with the FM-integration and no G1 compatibilty).
It would be really nice if it does work on G1/mt3g/hero, but until I get further info from HTC rep, or someone posted a video of it working properly on an android phone, I wouldn't waste my hard-earned 30 dollars on it.
OK here is what I have discovered...
The OP device. The actual E100 headset is getting mixed reviews.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=550377
They are on Hero. Some of them have E100's that work fine, others have faulty ones. Some have exchanged them for units that work, and some are waiting for HTC customer service to respond.
I think that there is either a quality control issue.
OR...
Another possible reason these are not working is the fact that they are equipped with a "HOLD to lock" button. If people are getting remotes that are set to the locked setting, and they don't know how to deactivate the lock, none of the buttons would work. Which is the primary complaint, the headphones work, but none of the buttons do.
By googling - HTC RC E100 Music Remote Control Dream -
I found these things for sale all over the place.
A few list the G1 as a viable phone, MOST do not. Almost all do list the mt3g.
HTC does not appear to sell accessories directly. They sell through the carriers. So I am going to see if I can find one at the Tmo store tomorrow. If I can, I will plug it in on the spot and try it out. If it doesn't work I'll try a few more.
ichigoismyhomie - If you look at the ads, they say "Also, with the built-in FM antenna giving a signal boost, listening to FM radio stations* is crystal clear*"
The note below states "only on devices which have a radio."
The e100 is actually usable on several phones some of which do have radios.
The best list I found was this one:
Code:
Works with: Alltel PPC-6800, Touch, Touch Diamond, Touch Pro / AT&T Tilt2, HTC Pure, Fuze, Tilt / CellularSouth HTC Touch Diamond, HTC 6800 / Cingular 8525 / HTC Hero, Magic, Snap, TyTN II, Touch, P4351, Titan, Apache, S411, Touch Pro2, Touch Diamond2, Touch Pro, Touch Diamond, Touch Cruise, Touch Dual / Sprint Touch, Mogul, Snap, Hero, Touch Pro2, Touch Pro, Touch Diamond / T-Mobile myTouch 3G, Dash 3G, Shadow II, Shadow, Wing, myTouch 3G Fender, Touch Pro2 / US Cellular HTC TouchPro2, HTC TouchPro, HTC Touch / Verizon Touch Diamond, XV6900, XV6800, SMT5800, Ozone, HTC Imagio, Touch Pro2, Touch Pro
Another item of note is that several people who do have working e100 units have stated that the remote buttons only work on the default music player.
Tunewiki has a setting under preferences. Maybe that will allow tunewiki to be used instead.
I also found this, which is listed as working with the G1 specifically.

Similar idea, your headphones/ their mic. But no fancy nav buttons.
Serves the same function otherwise, which is my main concern.
Thank you all for looking into it further. I still can't seem to find any solid answer as well so I will hold off on dropping 30 bucks (plus duty etc for Canada).
OK I have called about 20 stores in the Seattle area.
No one carries these things, and those who made recommendations said, "The Web"
Global Marketing pisses me off! If everyone is going to suggest the web as a shopping outlet then we need to just close down physical locations and be done with it!
Sorry side tracked there.
Anyone know a place with a super great return policy?
I'll pony out the cash as long as I can return it if I can't get it working.
Someone with fast shipping, and no BS.
Let me know.
(Damn it now my mouse just broke....Not having a good day.)
So in my fit of rage at my mouse....
I went to ebay and found an OEM headset that allows you to add your own head phones.
Since this is the basics of what I want for my phone, and they were only $6 with shipping, I bought them.
I could not find the rc e100 for less than $25 and I was willing to lose the $6, but not the $25.
Also the OEM version is supposedly made for the G1.
I'll let you know how it does when it gets here.
I will continue to look for the rc e100.
But I have come across a few more forums which state that the HTC rc e100 does not work properly in a lot of phones.
Ironically, some of the more detailed feed back has been under our noses the whole time.
Go to the main xda forum page and do search for HTC RC E100 You'll get 200 hits in the XDA forums alone. (201 if you include this post. )

That's the exact adapter that I use right now in my car for my hands-free calling. I've had several different type, but this one has the best built quality. I hooked it up to my tape deck (or you can also hook it up to AUX in if you have one) and I can have the same function as having a fancy BT stereo system in my car.
Until the E100 is confirmed to work on G1, that adapter won't be going anywhere soon.

I bought an OEM/clone RC-E100 remote (branded 'Well' on the clip) for my T-Mobile G2 (aka HTC Hero) from eBay: cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=200430375837

I can confirm that the play/pause and skip buttons do not work with any player I tested (Last.fm, HTC default) but DO work with TuneWiki. Thanks for the hint!
I live in the Netherlands and bought the G1 the day it came out, and hence never received a mini-usb -> 3.5 adapter. I've looked everywhere in stores here and in the states and in the UK (I travel a lot) but I can't seem to find it anywhere in stores. Something like this would be ideal.

This is the adapter that came with the G1 in some cases. It's nice, but I find the adapter to be way too long without having to bundle it with twist tie.

You can get the same one here at Cnn.cn for only $8.99 plus S&H:
http://cnn.cn/shop/u110-headset-p-5472.html
I just ordered one. I don't have experience with this remote but I've had many positive experiences with cnn.cn. Everything they say is OEM is in fact OEM and genuine.
