HELP!!!
Since I downloaded and installed the latest O2 ROM update (from Source O2) I now don't seem to be able to connect to GPRS.
The message I get is "The answering modem has disconnected. To check your connection settings and change them if needed, tap Settings." If I select settings everthing seems as it should.
After the update I ran the auto configuration within the O2 Active for UK, PostPaid and GPRS. So things should be OK shouldn't they? When I try and rerun the auto config it preselects Germany (is this just a default or is does this read from the settings in the system?)
Within GPRS settings the authentication is set for PAP (I've tried CHAP but it still doesn't work) and I'm using it as a Class 8 (4R1T) device.
I am also not getting the GPRS "G" appear at any point, so this might indicate that my local cell is not allowing GPRS at the moment, although it's been like this now since Thursday/Friday and I would have thought that it would have been fixed. (Southampton East - if anyone wonders)
Also it worked before the update so I know that GPRS is working on my account.
Does anyone have any ideas? I am stumped!
There is a bug on the xda2, I had the same problem with the German settings, even when I chose uk it still rebooted to the German, if you do it again, choose the uk, assuming you are in uk, wait a bit, then tap it again before doing ok, it took me 4 attempts.
I'm pretty sure that the autoconfig applet only loads settings if you have the check box selected and then close the applet. It doesn't really matter what is displayed in the check box when you actualy open the applet as these setting will not be loaded (unless you select the tick and then close auto config).
I have updated my XDA II with the ROM from the Asian site and have been using GPRS without issue. If you are not getting the G displayed it may be like you said that your telco's GPRS is currently offline?
Ed
Panic Over - I can confirm it's just my local cell not liking GPRS at the moment, Phew!! I think I paniced too soon
I've visitied my parents today across the country and GPRS works for me there so must be O2 in Southampton East - rotten lot
Hi there, I am wondering if it is possible for the XDA to work in Australia. I have the upgraded rom from Xda devellopers and have removed the sim lock, but it dosen't seem to pick up the Aus networks.
Any help would be great
What for device are you using? PW10A or PW10B?
Maybe it's a problem with the GSM-networks. PW10A is for 900/1800MHz and PW10B for 900/1900
Have you tried to search manual for any available services?
Stefan
How do I find out the PW10a or b info.... The other version info is as follows
ROM Version; 3.17.03 ENG
Radio Version; 4.21.00
Protocol Version ; 32s54
Sorry, found it....PW10A1
I am guessing no one has any help or info about this. what a wasted purchase.
The XDA/XDA II/XDA III (IIs) do work in Australia.
Where is your XDA from, country? What network are you trying to connect too down here?
I have been told it is from the UK. I purchased it 3rd hand so I can only go by what the previous owner has told me.
In the auto config screen, I get the options for 02 network from UK, Ireland, De and a few others.
I am wanting to connect it to an Optus network preferrably, but any would do.
I have tried Optus (plan and prepaid) and telstra plan, but no signal shows up.
Just clarifying, you have tried Optus and Telstra phone services or data services?
You verified the SIM's worked in another phone?
The sims are able to be swapped into various phones, I have a panasonic gd50, a nokia 7250 and a motorola v600, and an ericson (can't remember what model) and they all work in each other.
The sims are set up as phone service, ie: normal mobile usage, I have even tried an optus prepaid in it.
I am only wanting to use it for the phone service, gprs and net usage is not of interest as yet.
Howdy, I have the same model and it works fine on Telstra. I originally had problems with SIM lock and GID lock, but after upgrading to 2003 from lumpistefans kitchen I've had no problems with it! Good reception and minimal drop out. It's not a waste of money. The ROM i used was the O2 one and did not use the auto config, it finds it for itself and aknowledges the telstra network fine. If you go to an Optus shop they should be able to help, they also have pretty good phone help and should be able to talk you through the settings,
Good luck!
Peace,
Robert
Thanks Ryap. I am thinking that it should automatically find the network tho......is this not the case
I know on XDA II and PDA2K you can select the network or set it to Automatic. Might want to check this setting.
SETTINGS > PERSONAL TAB > PHONE > NETWORK TAB

I think you are confusing the autoconfig of the device with the network setup for the phone.
You can cancel the autoconfig that appears at the end of a hard reset. This just gives you some quick settings for the GPRS and MMS networks - you can add these later after talking to Optus.
Once the SIM is in, you need to make sure the phone is on by switching OFF flight mode. This kicks the phone in. Then if Optus is not picked up as your default network you just go into Settings>Phone>Network and then use the Find Network button and then the Set Networks button. After that you can check the Automatic Network selection button to make the settings stay.

Hi all, thanks for the support so far,
As of now, I can't get any network at all....still.
when i insert the sim and enable the phone it says serching, but thats about it.
I have no idea where to find the flight mode, and when I click on the phone in the settings screen, nothing happens.
I don't get any carrier name or logo come up and appear.
Cheers
Michael
On XDA II (don't have XDA) when the phone senses a service it puts four vetical bars next to the speaker/volume icon at the top of the screen. If you tap the bars it should bring up a pop-up, this is where there should be a line (link) to click on that says "Turn off flight mode". I am not sure if this is part of the original XDA though.
When you clicked on the PHONE icon under SETTINGS it didn't do anything?
At the top bar, next to the speeker, I have a tree type logo and when i tap it it says searching. When i open the phone and then click options, it freezes for about 5 maybe 7 mins and then the settings screen opens, from there it freezes and i can't select anything
Hi all.
I am greatful for you help and support up till now.
I have managed to fixmy problem.
When putting the xda devellopers rom on the pda, ther eis an option calledGSM Band in the programs list.
Well turns out it was set to 900, so i changed it to 900/1800 and rebooted the xda.
WELL HEY PRESTO, IT FOUND THE OPTUS NETWORK
So all is good and all works.
As I mentioned before I am greatful for all the support and thankyou to all who racked their brains over this.
I upgraded to the "Shadow ROM My Edition" and each time I synchronize my mail in GPRS/EDGE, I get the message:
"You are currently roaming. Synchronization may result in addtional charges"
In fact, I AM NOT roaming, since I am in France and sync my mobile in France (with Orange).
Is there a parameter that I have to change so I do not get this message in France (of course, I should get it when I am abroad)?
Thanks for your help.
This happens when you are on a different network in france. I think you can disable it by adding other networks to the allowed list (Start->Settings->Phone->Network tab) then click the set networks button and select the allowed networks/add them to the list.

Hello,
I have the same problem than mazerolle, on the French Orange Network :
Afert a sim update, the celphone did not detect the orange network as the home network.
Is anyone can tell me where in the registry I can find the list of all the known netwoks (I presume that Orange F has changed his networkID and I would like to chache it in the registry for matching with te sim data).
regards
Olivier
I'm not sure about the registry, but to check (and change) the list, load the phone program, click the right soft key and select options (may be called something else if it's a french ROM) then go to the "network" tab. There should be a drop down menu that you can change the preferred network.

Good idea, but, Orange F is already in the list at the top position. That’s why I’m looking for the location of the preferred networks on registry. I think that the ID of Orange F is different in the SIM and in the HTC

Have you tried using HTC Network Wizard to set the settings up? It might also change the network orders...

i m not sure but maybe this reg setting helpful:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\RIL\OperatorNames]
"20801"="Orange F"
"20802"="Orange F"
add these 2 string values.
There are 2 network codes seen in the mobile network code list on wikipedia:

I recently bought an lg wing Korean version, and it had trouble with really slow internet and being stuck on lte band 20. It turned out my APN settings were bad. I looked upy carrier APN settings and mine didn't match up. So I typed in the correct ones and now I can connect to lte band 3 and 1 also.
Did you go into the hidden menu?
What did you modify?
Settings/network and internet/mobile networks/access point names.
Where are you located and what carrier?
What did you change it to?
Finland, apn settings are carrier specific. Look up your carrier APN settings and check if they are the same as the one in your phone settings.
