Cing/At&t wifi+medianet settings wm6 - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam Software Upgradin

I've googled this so many times...but I just can't seem to find out if this will work or not.
I just got a refurb 8525 for christmas the other day, spl 1.11, going to hard-spl and upgrade to a cooked mobile 6 ROM if someone can help me.
My edge/medianet/wap/whatever you want to call it co-exists peacefully with my wifi connection right now, with my stock WM5 at&t ROM on the device. if I upgrade to a non at&t ROM, I know it won't have the MediaNet settings, and I have the CAB file to auto add them.
The problem is, i used these settings when I flashed a ROM onto my friend's wizard/8125, and they did not work well with the wifi. his phone had a problem saving the setting under the "my work network > *checked box* this network connects to: the internet" It wouldn't keep the box checked.
Now, if i go through all of this with a cooked wm6 ROM on my at&t, will it have the same problem? Can I make it work?
I'm hesitant to go to WM6 unless i can get the settings to work.
No, I don't want to use the at&t wm6
Also, sorry if this is in the wrong section. I took a guess between upgrading and the general forum

try a different rom

Wizards are a LOT less stable with WM6 (people have very mixed results), mostly because the device was only used to develop the OS and not use it for production builds. As the person above mentioned, I would try a different ROM. I personally always licked "Jaguar", they are fast and bare-bone, so you can add whatever you want later.

Try one of Schapp's ROMs. His connection wizard worked like a champ for automatically setting up my att medianet connection, I never had to touch it and it worked flawlessly with my wifi. Happy new year

Try this cab

or this one:

Scrogg's cab worked like a charm on my friend's wizard.
And when I upgrade to WM6 on my hermes, i will be sure to try schap's.
Thank you everyone!

Works like a charm on my WM6.1!!!
Thanks!!

Cingular 8525 w/Cingular ROM 1.31.502.1

Title says it all. I had tried the HTC South African ROM, and liked it, but I couldnt get the keyboard to correspond with the 8525 symbols. Searched all day and decided that it wasn't worth the minimal speed increase. Instead of going back to the ROM I had, the 1.34...ROM, I decided to go with this one since it has AKU 2.6. I am so glad I did!
I live in Queens, and 3G has NEVER worked in my house. Only certain times throughout my day I would see the U symbol on my phone. And it was in south Middle Village, not near my house. Since I upgraded/downgraded the ROM, not only do I have U in my house, but after 8 dslreports.com tests, I averaged over 800 kbps and peaked at 972Kbps! Perhaps its a coincidence that U is up and running here today, but I seriously doubt it! I also upgraded the radio to 1.20 and noticed a slightly less wait time for 'locating" in PIE. The OS seems faster as well, but not much faster, than the newer Cingular ROM. To any Cingular 8525 owners out there this ROM is definitely worth a look!
There must be a reason that they decided 3 WEEKS LATER to go back to AKU 2.3. Is there a bug in this ROM that I haven't discovered yet?
The radio upgrade is what made UMTS more accessible. The OS portion of the ROM didn't have any effect on your wireless. AKU 2.6 is reported to have problems, but I never personally tried it or tried to track them after I read MS Voice Command wouldn't work with it. There was a lot of discussion about AKU 2.6 in the Wizard forum, you might find some info there.
Did you install the newer radio code independently, or did it come with the South Africa ROM?
I noticed the increase in UMTS accessibility after upgrading the ROM. I upgraded the radio only to minimize the "locating" delay in PIE, activesync, etc. It mihgt be a coincidence, who knows.
Cyberon works fine w/this ROM. I never really cared fpr VC, it uses too much RAM and is a lot slower than cyberon IMO
The reason for the thread was to hopefully find out what the problems are that have been reported. Seemse strange that Cingular made a new ROM a few weeks after and went back to 2.3
I don't know why they went back to aku 2.3, but for the problem you where having with the keyboard, you could have solved it by installing a cab in the cingular's extrom (don't remember now exactly wich one).

Yeah, I had searched, and searched, and found one of your posts that spoke about a cab with "keypad.." in the name, but I downloaded TWO Cingular ExtROMS and that file was not in either of them. When I first installed the 1.35 ROM, I replaced its extrom with the newest Cingular extROM, to no avail. I don't mind though, I like this ROM so far and it hasn't caused any issues for me. And its Cingular-issued, so all of the settings were there for me.

Best ROM for Titan

Any recommendations of which cooked ROM would be good for a Sprint Mogul aka Titan? I want to flash one that still has the live search bar on the today screen, I use it constantly and would like to keep it.
I have been testing multiple ROM's over the past few weeks and here's what my experience/opinion is. You can load any ROM and then download Windows Live since it's not included in cooked ROM's.
The 2.17 stock ROM loads up with approx 25mb free if you bypass the customizations. I don't run this one, it comes with too much crap I don't need.
DCD's clean ROM 1.5.7 loads up with approx 26mb free with the 1.40 radio. Very stable, and runs great.
DCD's alpha 2.17 based ROM loads with approx 26mb free with the 1.47 radio. Didn't seem as quick as the 1.5.7 and I experienced issues receiving calls with this ROM (had to press the answer button twice and sometimes three times). I have not run this ROM with the 1.40 radio but DCD thinks it may fix the issue I had with receiving calls. I had to soft reset with this ROM alot more than the 1.5.7. This ROM also changes the initial HTC logo that you see on a soft reset with the words "dcd's clean rom" below it. A minor issue, but I didn't like having that there.
Custel's 1.1 4MB pagepool loads with approx 28mb free on the 1.40 radio. This ROM is the quickest and most stable ROM I have ran. My only gripe, albeit a minor one, is that the data connection is named Alltel Wireless and resets itself to Alltel Wireless on a soft reset even if you change it. I use Sprint so it kind of bugs me, though it does not affect your data connection and you do not roam to another network.
I recommend using the 1.40 radio in lieu of the 1.47 radio with any ROM. I get a much better and more consistent signal with it.
HTH
Im going to try out Custels' ROM, so all I have to do is downlaod windows live and istall it on my phone? I really just want the search bar in the today screen, because then I edit the key to search google instead of live.
Yup, that's what I've done in the past. Trying to find a link for you...

I don't know why you don't just try them all out. There are so few that could try them all out from the time you finish eating dinner to the time you go to bed at night.

Thanks! dcd, I tried your cab as well as your rom and its seems to be working good for me, I also saw that you posted a thread with your kitchen, so here comes the noob question! how hard is it to use that to cook up a rom, is there a tut around to read about that? thanks again for the help and keep up the good work.

I'll download your kitchen and see what I can do. Building ROMs is not my specialty but who knows, maybe it'll grow on me...

Its not that hard, only gets complicated when adding stuff not already included in the buildOS packages. DCD put together a nice little list of commonly used options, you click what you want, hit go, run a script which creates your .nbh, and flash it!
Actually I was able to make one and then test it but just ended up removing hardspl and putting the official Sprint Rom back on until I could figure out how to make something better. The only questions I have now is how add OEMS to the kitchen and will OEMS made for Wizard Windows Mobile 6 ROMs work in this kitchen for the Titan?

wm6 oems are wm6 oems. gsm stuff might have gsm stuff. it will (probably) build, and then you can fix/tweak it from there. if it fails due to conflicts, you need to identify the files in question, and decide which of the two needs to go. an oem is just a cab laid out. if the cab would install on wizard or titan, its oem probably would.

Great to know. I will start building a new ROM in the morning. It's 12:27am right now and I have to get some sleep. I've been up for over 26 hours thanks to working 2 jobs. I'm off tomorrow though thanks to a huge ice storm blanketing the area I live in. Sucks to drive in but hell I needed the time off...
I honestly believe Imcokeman's Clean alltelwm5 rom is the best. It boots with 28-29mb and is way stable. I haven't had one crash for 2 weeks. Thats saying a lot (for the titan lol).
I love DCD's 1.6.8 Rom over the stock rom. i have verizon.
it is very clean and i love the memory and speed on it. it feels faster than the stock as well and i do not know why i waited so long. doing the upgrade was a bit scary at first.
Some Points:
*All the skins look smoking hot compared to the default skins, The dialer is highly functional now, almost like the spb mobile shell dialer but without the bloat or memory waste.
*i didnt even have to do a *228 to program the phone after the rom update, everything just worked, email sync, text messages, get and make calls and internet.
*27.76 megs ram free after soft reset, i bet i would have more if i used a memory releasing program like oxios hibernate. 1.71.36 megs of storage free. that was more free than i had total before for internal storage.
*it has lots of tweaks pre-applied. like the text message sent confirmation turned off. the audio volume increase tweak, the 5 meg page pool.
*very polished feel, more so than the stock rom
*faster than the stock rom. i would say 50% faster? hard to gauge, but i notice it is speedier.
I have not tried custel's rom or any other rom's, installed this one and was very happy with it.
I've recently downloaded DCD kitchen and love it. I've also starting using OEMizer and making my own ROM's. It's a lot of fun and addicting. DCD Rom's seem to be the best for me. I like the clean approach and it gives me the option to install what I want and customize my phone. The other ROMs include to much stuff I don't find useful.

help me decide

I just got my 8525 and so far i like it, i have WM 5 on it and it seems a little outdated. I want a new ROM and i need help deciding. The rom needs to be good with texts, phone calls and wifi primarily. Other options would be cool like the possiblity to get GPS. Please help me out.
Hey Rockman!!!!
Listen it carefully once you have unlocked succesfully your hermes go to the Windows mobile 6 subforum and try one by one... The text i dont know what do you mean with that but with cellphone signal is better to try different Radio Roms... on my country The 1.5X.XX dont works well I better get the 1.40.30 Radio Rom. On Wifi... well the wifi doesnt seems to be directly performed on the Rom is more Hardware...
So I can recomend to you the Final V10 Full Halloween By JoshKoss 6.1 Real Big Storage Normal ROM is great!!!
But who we are to say this is the wors this is the best...? if we dont cooks hahahaha whatever... try it all!!! once you upgrade you never stops to flash your device.
As + Que PPC said, you need to look at the roms yourself. What I use and what you want may be completely different.
Make sure you Hard SPL your Phone first...
I've tried many popular fancy roms and settled on this one:
Pays 3.05 windows 6.1.
Keeps the speed and gives you what you need.

Hermes 8525
The only thing it needs is a direct access icon to IM somewhere on the home screen. I don't IM so Not important to me.

NFSFAN Verizon GPS not working?

I just bought a Touch Pro because my XV6800 quit working. It is a brand new Touch Pro, if the version of software that ships on it matters. I flashed NFSFAN 6.5 on it and GPS isn't working. Is there a fix that I have to do to the phone first, or should the GPS just work with this rom. Sorry for the noob question, but it is hard to find these things coming so late to the game if you get what I am saying. Any help would be great.
PS, my friend was using my phone to drunk dial people and he told me that the interface was the most user friendly he had ever used on a phone. Props to NFSFAN I guess HAHAHA, thanks for a great rom.
quickgps
I couldn't get mine to work until I found a working QuickGPS cab.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...86&postcount=6
You can try that one, it works well on NFSFAN's latest ROM. Also, make sure you have location settings on and you've installed the appropriate provisioning cab for Verizon.
I suggest you look at this:

[Q] HD2 Android Connectivity Issues.... PleaseHELP!!

Ill try to keep this brief, as I am disappointed that I couldn't solve it myself! I am on Tmobile USA, with an HD2 Leo. I'm currently running KBWR 6.5 rom, with MattC Leo froyo android, latest build. I just loaded this rom and OS today, where about two months ago I first did Miri6.5 rom and Darkstone froyo 2.2. The Darkstone build never had working 3g, so I finally ditched it.
Problem now is, I first booted the phone on this new setup today, and was on the "edge" network, but not 3g. Now, for no apparent reason, I have no net connectivity. Also, I do experience the "sleep of death" once in a while. Not cool. Any ideas? I did not change radios, as calls were perfect, and like I said, the edge network was running fine, and I'm ok with just that.
Like I said, PLEASE help me =$
-Clark
(I'd label my skill with this sort of thing as intermediate... Not so great. Any assistance would be appreciated...)
