Help Needed With Messed Splash Screen - JAMin, XDA Neo, S200 ROM Development

i was fumbling around with the hypercore kitchen and found a tool in a subfolder called "nb image tool". i was curious, since it suggested only a few simple clicks in order to create your own splash screen. so i flashed my creation but now i have TWO splash screens: one white HTC INNOVATION, and one OEM. the latter one can still be changed. but the first one seems to be branded into my device.
i found out that this tool was originally made for the himalaya which actually does have TWO splash screens. but i haven't found any hint how to reverse this **** again.
requesting immediate help, please!!!

Prophet has two splashscreens too! I think in your old situation they were identical. You can flash new splashscreens, but your old ones are replaced. So, if you don't have a picturefile of them....
BTW, most official ROM's contain the Vendor splashes.

Good to hear! BTW could you attach that original htc.nb file? I'm looking for it a while now. (That is, if it is not the old white 1st and blue clouded 2nd version).

it is not that white hct innovation screen. it looks as if this htc.nb file is either some kind of delete-splash for that white htc thingy or a suppression splash that just prevents that one from showing up making the "second" splash display the whole boot phase.
just use the ruu for the nbf-file or nb2nbf.exe for the htc.nb. for the latter you have to select "splash" for image name and change the start address manually to 9d000000, otherwise i will not work out.
let me know how it worked.
and a happy new year.

It did work, I get the impression that this file places a blackscreen as splashscreen. Now I'm looking for an up-to-date HTC screen.
Happy New Year to you too!
Thanks!

damn it!!! i forgot!!!
the nbf-file i sent you was my modified one, since i wanted a complete black boot screen. the htc.nb file is the original one. just make an nbf of it and flash it again. or let me know if i should provide you with the proper one.
cheers.

I did convert the HTC.nb to nk.nbf but it still blacks out the splashscreens (no big deal, even black is better then the ugly outdated originals). But if you could upload a nk.nbf containing the recent htc splash, I would be thankfull (again )

try this one. found it here on the forum. if you used the htc.nb before, it SHOULD display the second splash throughout the entire boot phase; at least it worked this way for me. it is (probably) the most recent htc splash in black. i don't know though. i don't care much about htc apps and stuff.
just report back, what you think.
cheerio.

ROM Leftovers

OK, so I try a few ROMs last night and the last I put on was the one I knew I was gunna keep, the Energy Warhawk.
Problem is the ROM before this one, AYCE 0811, has left a startup image I don't like. The very first image when the phone starts.
How do I get rid of this? I'm surprised the Energy ROM didn't nuke it.
You need to flash a new splash screen. I recommend the one below. Here's a link to the download, as well as a bunch of others.

Install Splash Screen without loosing data ?
Dear all,
Can we install Splash Screen without loosing data ? (read no hard reset)
I've installed a custom ROM & everything tht I need...but a nice Splash screen !
If can....I'll love it
If can''t...well I can always flash it on my next ROM flashing.
Appreciate reply. Thanks.
You don't lose data. It's like flashing a radio. But it's always a good idea to do a backup first.
That splash screen is glorious, isn't it?
i love the flash whore splash its my fav in my collection. splash screens are basically just for fun flashes. its painless. no data loss and its way easier to flash than a rom. like FT said its similar to flashing a radio. no data loss, no need for hard reset. you can flash it from the computer or the sd card. whichever way you prefer. i never really stray to this forum unless im linked so if you guys have any questions about splash screens or anything im always available over at mobilitydigest.com/forums. haha and good job on suggesting the flashwhoresplash ft lmao

No, before MAGLDR before. I have tested this build last april and from this test I have this 2nd spalsh customized .

Then consider your problem solved, just follow my posts in his thread :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=10239678
Nothing, the 2 splash remain also after your flash......
I can't seem to be able to find such "Second Splash" , There is only first , the second one is replaced with MAGLDR ..
But if you see http://www.prestige-x.com/Download.php
(this is the site of the build that I had tested....)
in description of two last build is declared:
This build replaces all splashscreens with Htc's Splash Screen inlcuding Splash 1 and Splash 2.
This is do to the fact that your first release change these splash and seems that any flash can change that.
Since it replaces the 2nd splash, It should've replaced MAGLDR 'cause Magldr does not replace your bootloader but instead it replaces the 2nd splash (the one with red written)
I can confirm that magldr replaced my second splash.
Care to post up a vid of your bootup?
Here the video.....
hmm, and you definately have magldr on there? it boots to android after where your clip ends? and/or if you hold power all the way through the bootup, it goes to the magldr menu? (it should)

Sorry for my mistake: if I install MAGLDR I haven't the 2nd screen, but I have it when reflash a win stock ROM. The video is related a WM stock ROM reflashed after MAGDLR.

Yes, you are right. When I flash MAGLDR I don't have this flash, but after, when I flash a stock rom ( 3.14 ITA in my case) I have the PRESTIGE flash. I have make a task29 more times, and flash a stock 1.66 and after a 3.14 but I don't have the original splash!
Oh well, we couldn't remove the second splash before magldr,so I guess it makes no difference, heh.
Sorry to bump an old thread but ive got the same issue where i have the 2nd splash and cant get rid to sell the phone on, anyone had any luck removing this?

I flashed the second splash R.G.D and it's ok, BUT when I flash other roms, like NGR, the second splash R.G.D still there and I don't want it anymore and I don't have the same pictures like in the custom ROMs.
Before I did this crap second splash was time when I flashed just 1 first splash both of them changed with the same picture! Now it is impossible, all the time I have to flash 2nd similar splash to the rom which I installed.
How make it work back like it was at the beginning, 1 FLASH change both 2 splash screens? HELP!

a few options come immediately to mind, , flash a stock rom, from sd card, which should remove both and replace it with a single carrier/htc splash *however* ive seen this not work, on occasion, for whatever reason,
the other is make an identical 1st and 2nd splash, flash them both, or make a blank 2nd splahs, or flash magldr, it lives in teh area where the 2nd splash goes, perhaps that will shift it.

[Q] Change Vibrant Splash Screen

Im no help, I just wanted to add that I am interested in changing the splash screen as well. I know its gotta be possible because Ive seen it done with the DoW kernel where "vibrant" was replaced with a pretty sweet picture of a dragon. Just thought Id chime in.
Should be possible somehow... i added a rom to my friends captivate (i know different phone) and its splash screen was changed to go with the rom... so there SHOULD be a way to go in and change it... heres a link to a video of that rom, you'll see what im talking about..... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LnZSQsfVhFk
I realize it is possible. I am just wondering the steps needed to do it. Usually a image editing program is neede also.

I think you're referring the the boot screen. He's talking about the splash screen that says VIBRANT in plain black and white.
The boot animation is different from the splash screen. The splash its the Samsung vibrant screen you see before the boot animation. You will probably have to chmod the directory before you can change anything in there
Sent via my Samsung Galaxy S
I have sent
a message to the creators of the D.O.W. and have had no luck receiving anything back.
Opening a DOW zip file has the directory as such:
kernel_update
redbend_ua (307kb)
zImage (5685kb)
system
bin
sqlite3 (24kb)
etc
vold.conf (1kb)
vold.fstab (2kb)
build.prop (3kb)
So it would appear that it's either zImage or redbend_ua.

No, I was talking about the splash screen, not the boot screen. Instead of having the black and white vibrant screen, they have a picture of a bomb going off on the DOW Kernals. Download it and check it out.

all
of my prior splash screen changes have been done through adb or fastboot. I am pretty sure I shouldn't have to mess with a zimage to change this.

I know that it was a lot easier on the HTC devices and that's what I'm coming from pesonally. But I'm actually pretty certain that it is compiled in the zImage file. Which would mean that it would have to be decompiled, edited and recompiled with your desired image. It sounds like a lot of work but I'm sure that once you get everything set up it would be a breeze!
hmm
So what would I use to open this zimage and edit it?

Here is a link to a thread from January-February time frame...has some info for creating the .img file used in the PG06IMG.zip out of a .bmp file.
We used to do this in adb, but this method appears to be slicker and has the advantage of being able to change between any number of splash screens on a whim...without needing a computer.

Flashable Zips for A7 Boot Logos

This is for flashable zip "Boot Logos". Firstly I must say that all credit and thanks go to @GokulNC for his "Splash Image Tool" which makes it possible to create the splash.img" files. As we all know the A 7 is a testy and finicky device and therefore I must make the point that I am not responsible for any problems that occur by your use of these boot logos. Having said that my device is an A2017U and I have successfully installed each of the logos that I publish.
Important points to consider.....
(1) These logos only replace the initial ZTE logo they do not replace the unlocked bootloader screen.
(2) Sure as eggs come at Easter if you try to flash these to the partition occupied by the warning
unlocked notice then you will probably brick your device (I can speak with authority on this point
having done it!)
(3) Flash these through custom recovery (i.e. TWRP).
Unfortunately because it is only replacing the initial boot logo the display time is very short and is soon overtaken by the unlocked bootloader screen. The only way you can see it for a longer period is when you reboot into TWRP when it stays on the screen longer.
The attached zip files are the flashable zips and the attached jpg thumbnails show you what they look like. I've posted an initial 5 screens (2 for the Justice League and 3 which I have called ZTE for the sake of calling them something). Hopefully someone will come up with a way of getting rid of that lousy unlocked screen so that we can see a decent logo.
I really want to make my own custom one. Can you help me?

I suggest you search XDA for posts by GokulNC there you will find a recent post in which he describes using his script "Splash Image Tool".
I saw your post in another thread ..... To start with you need a png graphic file measuring 1440x2560 ..... It must be png can't be jpg or bmp or tiff or gif. This is all presuming you are using ZTE Axon 7 phone.

Here are a couple more.
What was written in Post#1 still applies.
I tried to avoid splashing text all over but if anyone desperately wants text on one of them post here and I'll see what I can do.
Another 3 same blurb as before.
@nujackk I really appreciate your "thanks", to me it means that someone is gracious enough to show their liking for what I do.
We all should show our appreciation more. I really appreciate folks like you who allow me to have choices, please keep up the work

Thanks guys I'm encouraged to keep up the search for graphics that become our boot logos.
Here are 3 more, all Justice League this time.
A couple more.
Just a quick note ..... I've made a logo with a "Ghost Rider" theme but because of it's nature it doesn't fit well alone, to complement it I have made a Ghost Rider Animation that the logo suits. Both the logo and the animation can be found in the thread I have previously created in "Themes and Mods" named "Flashable zip Boot Animations".
Should anyone just want a logo then let me know and I will see what I can do.
TWRP flashable "Android Eats Apple" splash screen.
I made one. It's copy/pasted because I have no artistic skill. I think I laid out a pretty good one though. I found high resolution .png files. Looks nice and crisp.
@Doc Ames ... Nice one. :highfive:
