Camera - JAMin, XDA Neo, S200 ROM Development

i have the standerd Camera installed on my phone is the any better software for it around? (upgrades etc.)

i know kaiser has a new htc camera software ver 5.0.4 something. not too sure whether can be ported over to prophet.

theres also a software named COOLCAMERA it works awesome in my older IMATE JAM.
My o2 atom exec is not fully supported, even thought is a better software for taking video at 21 fps instead of 7-9 fps!
You can findit with google.

i did download one htc camera update, but it made me hold my phone the opposite way round i think it was 4.0.6 does anyone know of away of switching it round?

QTEK 8500 & TomTom

Hi...
Anyone knows what is the deal with TomTom on the Qtek 8500? I have gotten one of those cracked versions available practically everywhere, to see what it looks like, but hey I get the screen wich is smaller then the physical screen plus that everything is blurred...
Anyone any experience ? The version I have downloaded was for the Windows Mobile smartphones, at least that is what it said, Which is by the way identical to the one wich is made for Symbian...
You need at least v5.2 for it to work with the QVGA display. You can download the v5.21 upgrade from tomtom.com. But of course this will overwrite any "patched" version you have...
Thanx mate, going to try that, although the version I am installing it says is 5.20...
Has anyone got a cracked version of TT 5 Mobile for me v5.20 for WM5 based smartphones
Thanx

HTC Manila

Anyone heard about HTC Manila? It is a new homescreen / interface which seems pretty good. Only seems to be in something like beta now (doesn't seem to be working really good). They are discussing this in kaiser thread (look here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=363500&highlight=htc+manila) atm, but I was hoping for something for our little prophets as well...
I tried it on my Neo yesterday but it's unbelievable slow and the version I've got running seems to be only for VGA screens!

Newbie question: opinions on which ROM?

Hi all,
I've been looking around the threads for a while now and while I'm excitedly waiting for my U1000 which I just bought on ebay I'm wondering if people have an opinion on which ROM to use. Are there pro's and cons on each or is it just mostly visual?
So far I've been reading about Black Dual by PK 3.0, AP ROM v4.0, v3.0 and the older Black one.
I thought it would be simply a case of going for the latest but that doesn't seem to be the case. The 4.0 and Black Dual seem to be the same age but don't seem to be the same. Is one better then the other? Does one suit a different use case better than another?
Thanks for any guidance.
Before deciding which ROM, I felt it will be safer to use your newly bought U1000 for awhile to ensure set stability and it’s characteristic. Then when you flash other ROM, you will have better understanding of your set.
PK is the head chef for the Athena Project (AP) it is not PK Dual 3 it is AP Dual 3 and it came out a long time before AP4 which is based on the 7510 ROM and is, by far, the latest and greatest.
AP4 is the one to go for IMHO.
The answer is always the same in ICT: the best is the second release of the latest so AP 4.1 (some bug fix, more ram and more system resources, may latest opera, and ..., SPL with a way to go back to the standard one, just in case). I am still using AP2 on mine but AP3 also works fine

How come you're still on AP2 if you don't mind me asking?
I thought I may just defualt to the latest and greatest and go with AP 4.1 but the black dual screen shots look nice and I like some of the Dual Touch features that seem to have been added to that one (I'm guessing they're not in the AP4?).
If it's the 7510 ROM does that mean the front camera on my U1000 won't work as the 7501/10 don't have a vga camera?

I haven't checked the video call application but in the camera application the Front Camera could'nt be used. In AP2, in the camera application, I have the front camera too
Video call doesn’t exist in AP3 and 4 unless the dial skin has the video button.
About the Front Camera (secondary VGA videocall camera), if that is what you are referring to,
can be activate from camera application top centre 3 buttons, on the left.

OOOPS! I haven't fully checked the camera app, I checked it now also in standard resolution. Yes, it has the video call feature, just uncheck "disable phone skin" button in REALVGA (and use the 192 DPI resolution)
If you leave the phone skin enabled in 96 or 128 DPI you can't check the number you are dialing, because the SKIN isnt' designed for 128 or 96 DPI.
But you STILL have video call feature
Video calls working great!
After reading, today I untick the “disable phone skin” on Real VGA before switch to other dpi.
Surprised to find in both dpi 192 and 128, I have the video button and can make video calls.
Video was clear and sharp provided the other party stay put.
Very happy to find it working wonderfully, many thanks to the AP teams.
Thanks sergiopi, otherwise I may still thinking it it not availabe.
Oh, why there is the need to tick the "disable phone skin" in the first place?
Find it strange way to disable a feature which is available all the time.

Looks like you've got one more choice to try, courtesy of Irus. Especially if your unit is still under warranty.

I found the reason today, bad experience with the video button available.
Contact name list and keyed phone number most of the time not shown.
Revert back to normal, without video button...sign.
I think it's sort of worse now
I have seen so many choices, vanilla 3, black dual, AP2,3,4 ahhhhh.
I might just try the stock one with the spb or whatever that add on is called and see how i go for a while.
p.s. what's an SPL?

Apps from Diamond Rom working on Titan

There are the OEM applications from the HTC Diamond rom here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=395400
I am curious how many of these could be ported to the Titan? It looks like even though the Diamond is VGA, some are QVGA capable.
I am most curious about the Camera app, and if it could possibly work on the Titan.
Can someone create CABs from these OEM packages?

Everyone's so impatient lol. Diamond packages are already being worked on, don't worry. It's the Stanley Cup Finals!!!
Oh I can wait...
I did notice the Opera that is in the ROM is already in cab form, but is most likely VGA. I wonder if it's newer than 9.5.1165?

i havent seen 1165. i have 1024, but you have to use a skin from an old build.
i am more interested in rsshub and usbtopcpopup
new x-button 2.1 is decent but i like the huge button version thats already out better.
My Bad, it's build 1126:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=395121
You don't need to re-apply the skin, and the font works just fine right after install n QVGA.
BTW - I just re-flashed to the latest DCD, and I swear my device is running much smoother and faster, good work!
It might be the placebo affect however

Thinking of trading my HTC Tattoo for a Mini

I've been thinking of trading my HTC Tattoo for a Xperia X10 mini (maybe pro) what do you guys have to say?
I'd like to know what are tha main advantages/disadvantages of the mini if possible
Thanks in advance,
K.
hello,
it depends from your expectations...
why do you want exchange HTC Tattoo?
do you have any problems with it? because your phone has almost similar parameters, x10 mini has slightly better HW specifications, specially 5Mpx photo camera with autofocus and led flash is very good, better processor, but smaller battery capacity, in real life battery holds 2 days max. My record is 3 days but it was on business trip and I didn't used mobile data because of rooming, on other side I used GPS navigation and photo camera lot so it was a very good performance.

Thanks for your reply : )
Well my major factor for choosing one is that it's one of the phones I can afford on a contract (selling my Tattoo would get me the cash needed for it) and the fact that I can have Android 2.x with working camera and fm radio (if the x10 does have one xD)
I like my Tattoo (because of its size mainly) and the mini boasts of being the smallest Android so it doesn't seem like a bad change.
My main problem with my Tattoo is that HTC dropped us at Android 1.6 without caring because of the release of the Wildfire, and because of that xda devs never were able to get their hands on camera/radio 2.x drivers therefore one has to choose between camera (crappy) and radio or 2.x apps support. Really ungrateful position to be in.

in this case, x10 mini is good for you
Go for the Mini mate
The Mini is the best phone I've had so far and believe me I've had a LOT... you wont regret buying it (it won an award for being the best phone for 2010 and 2011 which you probably know) its on android 2.1, it runs games fast @ 43FPS! for example runs Angry birds great but on the Hero which I had it lagged (23FPS on the Hero) and PSX4droid runs pretty great too =]
I have Apps2SD enabled, installed about 70+ apps/games (most of the big games work perfectly e.g. Pocket Legends, Fifa 10, Fruit Ninja etc) whereas normally without Apps2SD you wouldn't be able to get more than 4-5 big games on it.. so yeah
Do the wise thing and get the damn thing!!
PS. The disadvantage is that it has no Multi-touch but afaik that may change soon
I can also vouch for the x10 mini pro, and I too came from having a tattoo. The x10 is as good as technically and id argue better than the tattoo and I can tell you I wouldnt be writing this on my tatoo but I am happily on my mini pro
