GPS.STATION for Google Maps - Advantage X7500, MDA Ameo ROM Development

If you use True VGA screen resolution,
there is a plenty of space to display not only one windows, but more.
I try to write such solution, to use Google Mpas with some additional tracking application. Working title: GPS.STATION
As you can see on screenshot,
my application displays on the left side of screen with 160 pixels of width.
Google Maps display on the rest of the screen, and it's scaled to free space.
How to use:
1. install the latest Google Maps version
2. install GPS.STATION (new folder will become on Programs)
3. make sure you have GPS Settings correctly to share data (default Settings\System\External GPS)
4. run GPS.STATION
On the first time, it will start to search for GPS Rx. You can tap the right part of the screen to launch Google Maps. In the Options you can set to launch Google Maps automatically aftert GPS.STATION started. If GPS Rx will miss, you can alwyas start to search from Options.
Unfortunately, Google Maps cannot launch automatically with Use GPS option set. You have to do it manually every time whete it started.
Now, you can use Google Maps actual view, together with GPS.STATION where you can see:
- details of satellites and signals levels
- tracking of satellites positions (yellow dots)
- tracking of Altitude (blue bars), and Moving Speed (orange bars)
- total distance of moving (m, km), and the time (hh:mm)
- direction to Start Point (degrees), and direct distance to Start Point (m, km)
- actual moving speed, and averaged value (distance by time) in km/h
You can reset Start Point any time by a special graphic button.
The main purpose to use GPS.STATION together with Google Maps:
- Google Mpas shows the current position
- GPS.STATION tracks the moving, saves to .kml file, and uploading to the server
This Beta version will expire on the end of January.
No functions are working currently, no tracking of moving included, not yet.
No saving to .kml, and no uploading to web server, not yet.
Your comments or suggestions are welcome.

Hi, is it possible to route with the new version of google maps?

Routing with Google Maps in Windows Mobile device is hard.
Because it is making on server (not on your device).
You set two points to calculate routing, then it will send to google's server, there it will calculate on server, and then it will send back the result to your device. Request time, and charge you even more for wireless connetion.
For my experiences, it's hard.

It does work well, can calculate from current GPS position to another place... Good for getting a route overview, but not a full GPS solutions -- no announcements of turns (voice or on-screen display) and no dynamic recalculation of your route (you have to resubmit).

I haven't tried it yet but it looks good.
Anywhere to say give me directions from "current position" to "destination" without having to enter a near by address?

You have to install Google Maps (mobile software) from its source. in the main memory or microdrive or memorycard.

Felcus,
You can download it from here:

Enjoy.

Thanks to all,
Is there a way to save Google maps? We can not use it in driving if it is not stored locally. It is not good that we always download maps in refreshing especially when our connection (not WiFi) is slow.

Not that I'm aware of. If you want to use it for driving, you might want to explore Google Navigator rather than Google Maps.
Cheers.

I've tried many versions of Google Navigator, they are all painfully slow, nowhere near what Google Maps speed is, basically Google Navigator is useless, at least for so far.

When I launched the program in my Loox n560 with Windows Mobile 6, appeared an error: "This beta version expired"

CHESS GAME SMS EDITION

I work with my new software:
Chess Game SMS Edition.
It allows you to play the Chess via SMS from and between Phone Edition computers. The final version will allow you to play from Smartphone and desktop computers (via network and SMS gateway) too.
Why SMS Edition? Because it's cheap, time independent and useful.
Why "another" Chess Game? I could not found any good working Chess Game via TCP/IP or SMTP for mobile device. Any working on mobile computer. Any designed to play with friend - not with a machine. All available chess games work on mobile computer fine but only as chess engine - it's OK. But I want to play with my friend on the other side of the World. Some game try to do it via chess dedicated servers. But it's not work useful. And I do not want to give out too many dollars for my GPRS connection. SMS is fine.
This BETA will expire on the end of this year.
Pocket PC 2002, Windows Mobile 2003.
No Help, no descriptions, no web page, at this moment.
You can test and play on your own risk.
If you send me comment, improve idea or bug recognized, I will give you a final version when it will come. Well... first 10 persons I will.
Some Features:
- Play Chess Game
- Test the move availability and rules
- Test King's check
- Test capturing and castling
- Test pawn en passant capturing
- Various skins of table and pieces, incl. 3D figures
- Save the game file automatically
- Save games separated to the oponent's name and phone number
- Preview and replay any game step-by-step
- Send SMS with your move with/without additional comments
- Display some popup message when the new move arrived
- Start the program when the new move arrived
- The oponent's move (answer) is saved automatically in the background
- Quick-touch mode makes the move when you touch the target cell (no button request)
- Continuous Editing allow you to test engine move by move without SMS sending/receiving
- Basic sound announces

Please note: this program sends SMS message when you make your move with none additional message or ask. If you written correctly the oponent's phone number (when you started new game), it will send SMS right away. If you give response to the game began by someone, you don't need write phone numbers because it works automatically.
A short description: how to test the program via SMS gateway from web page (if your telephone operator allows you) is on Help file.
The Setup:
CHSMSBETA.zip
Email:
[email protected] with Subject: CHESS SMS EDITION
.
How it works?
I should explain one more.
There is two executable file:
CHESS GAME.exe is the main application and
GAMEENGINE.exe is the small engine to control SMS
the second file is opened/started automatically by the first main but not closed automatically when you close the first main application
AND it should be added to your Startup folder and runs after soft-reset
if you want to get your answer automatically when the main application is not running in some time
this small engine (15kB) controls SMS and connect the main application when the new move of the game arrived
it the BETA version you see both applications in your task manager (running process manager, for example PocketPlus) and there you can close both of them (this is only way because the engine has no interface)
in the final version the engine will not be visible and will work as hidden process
please redownload the setup, I fixed some poor 3D image, now the 3D view is:
the engine was built as the basic concept of my plan for more "sms-enabled" game in the future
What game would you want to see? Bridge, Otello? Let me know.
I think there is a lot of games who are fine to play message by message, time independently - opposite to the one-time fight.
Why SMS Edition? Because it's cheap, time independent and useful.

hhmmm sms is a pretty expensive way to sending data back and forth at least in most countrys where you have to pay for each sms not taking into acount how many letters are being sendt
unlike gprs where it's the data which deside the price
I agee.
BUT I think it is depend from what kind og game you want to play.
For example, I agree with friend that we have one day to the answer in Chess Game. In the average number of moves per game, for example 50, the game will go almost month and the cost of all SMS will around $1.5
How much do you pay by GPRS if you want to play one month?
As I tried to write, the sms-way of playing the game is a concept for some closed range of game types.
Of course the SMS way to play is not serious for games when you exchange lost of data and continuously, like role-play games, fights, simulators....
How much do you pay by GPRS if you want to play one month?

i suppose it comes down to the size of each packet
and how many packets are sendt during that month
because here i pay pr. MB when it comes to GPRS
UPDATED
I just updated the setup to the new.
A small fix.
In the previous version you had to use +XXXX format for phone/SMS numbers.
Now you can use your "network-depend" format. For some specified telecom network, users reported me they need 001XXXXXX format for exmample or even 01-XXX-XXXX format.
Now it works with that formats. ALthought I'm not sure if I know a whole World format and if this version will work in any/every Earth's position.

Thanks to Mr. Pruchnik who given me a feedback about this number localizations.

DESCRIPTION
Hi all,
I have been trying for a while to find some GPS/CellID tracking programs that work fine but most of them are buggy and not very accurate. That's why I decided to write my own!
Features:
- Ability to generate KML and GPX files that can be opened with any tool that supports that type of file.
- Realtime tracking with Google Earth or Google Maps.
- You can create and manage your own trips
- No internet connection is needed when using TrackMe (Offline mode)
- Ability to display your current position on your PDA
- Geofence with SMS and email notifications
- You can send your current position by email or sms to other person
- Ability to upload pictures. TrackMe will extract the GPS information/Creation date (if any)
from the pictures and it will match it with your existing GPS data
- Search for closest user based on your last uploaded position
- GPS powersave mode available
- You can use your own server instead of my free server
- Stealth mode
- You can force updates with your own custom icon and comments.

that's pretty dope! Where does it upload the data to? Any chance of sharing the source code and people could add to it? maybe open source it?
Thanks kireol.
Right now it's uploading the information to the mysql database that I have with my web hosting.
Regarding the source code... I think it could be a good idea. Maybe once the program is completely stable I may do it. Thanks for your suggestion.
for sure man, you did a great job! And I for one would love to get involved. I was a programmer at Ford for 15 years(C++/PHP/Perl/Java) until those jobs went to India and forced me to throw away my college degree. I've been dieing to get back into programming (5 years now). This last weekend I snagged MS visual studio .net and the wm6 sdk and started compiling. This might b a good transition for me to get back into thinking that way, if you decide you'd like to OS it that is

Thanks ishkatar.
You just need to go to Config, and enter there a username and password.
The account is created automatically as soon as you start uploading GPS data.
If for any reason the username already exists or there is any other error, you will be notified.
We always approve such moves!!!! Go on and keep up the good work!!!
Very cool.
Maybe you could release the table structure and a way for people to host their own data...like a personal web app.

Wow ... works perfectly!!! I just did a test walk around my office and it mapped it perfectly!!! Good work Staryon. I'm really eager to see how you did it.
Thanks a lot for all your comments. That really encourages me to keep updating the software.
laakness, at this moment the data is inserted into the mysql tables by using HTTP calls. My website gets the HTTP call and depending on the command it will do the specified task. That means that what you mention it would work if they have a website with PHP and a mysql database. A nice feature that I could add in the future is to make the inserts directly to the database instead of using HTTP calls.
However this is something that may not work for many web hostings because they usually don't allow access to mysql from external applications (which is my case by the way)
For the KML files (Google Earth's files) I used a structure that I liked in one of the tools that I found that does something similar to this. I made some modifications though.
I edited my previous post. Obviously where I said URL calls I meant HTTP calls.
Sorry for the confusion!
I have not yet installed it but it looks really cool from the screen shots. I have been using 3DTracking (free) but it is not without its problems and does not look as comprehensive as this. Does it carry on logging position after you power-down (standby) the Kaiser? 3DTracking does and its a real pain as it means you have to keep the screen on all the time!!
Thanks for the info.
I actually do host my own site using PHP/Apache/Mysql which is why I was asking

Very good. In that case I can provide everything that you need to use your website.
However, I will have to make it some changes in my code because at this moment the HTTP calls are hardcoded to my website. Once I have this done I will post it here.

Very cool indeed…
We must be neighbors of a sort. I work in Herndon (Worldgate) and was pretty surprised to a bird’s eye view of my office. Hope you aren’t getting stuck doing that toll road shuffle for an am commute – lol.
I installed it on my Wing, but it is not responding.
first error I got. unable to open port 4
I changed to port 1 and what I get is - waiting for gps respond.
not working for me.
Do I have to be outside the house for this or online?

This program looks great!
Will there be any prepackaged maps for download? For Example, Canada, New York, London, Paris, France?
Great Tool, I like it really.
But some time the PC-Tool crash. After the next crash I will post the message.
@Maedhros
I think this is not easy, because the file for a whole country with every zoom level is a fat file (many GB great).
@NaviComputer
A great feature is a map update over the Smartphone (3G, WLAN, ...), or a auto download for missing tiles.
looks finger friendly... thanks for this
crash all the time...
Unfortunately the desktop software doesn't even want to start on Windows 7 x64:-( The process starts up, but UI never shows up:-(
P.S. Be careful with Google maps, caching their maps is against user agreement. Microsoft, however, allows it to some extend (though you have to get a Virtual Earth dev. license).
Very nice job, thanks for the hard work!
Hi,
here idea for a new feature.
A merge feature for the PC-Tool. So it is easy to download some segments and merge to one layer. I think this is not a great problem for the sqlite-DB that you are using as single file store, or?

I have downloaded maps of several European cities such as Rome, Valencia, Hamburg, Cannes,... all about 5-10MB. I usually use zoomlevels 10-15 for cities. Anyway, downloading your own maps only takes a few minutes (if you have broadband internet connection)

Thanks for that idea. Indeed I will put that on my todo list. The PC Tool will need some work to be done anyway (also stability issues ...)
'NO dataplan needed'
That sounds great!
Will try.
THanks
The PC Tool isn't working on x64 Windows 7 installations. As mentioned before the process starts but somehow fails to initialize the user interface.
Thanks
Same as Terracrosser but according to the description and comments looks WAY BETTER and maybe even faster to download the maps. Good work
issues with x64 Windows 7 installations
The PC Tool isn't working on x64 Windows 7 installations. The UI never showed up and the CPU goes 100%. Otherwise the concept looks great.
I can confirm the win7 x64 problem tried running with all admin rights on and in xp and vista compatability modes. always uses 13% of my corei7 920 and about 28Meg ram.
I can also confirm the problem with Windows 7 x64 - the process starts, no program UI loads, and the navimapper process loads a single core to maximum.
A Help file will be great.
Nice looking application....
BUT..............
On my XDA orbit (QVGA wm6.1) the buttons look a little squashed... Also so few options!!!! would love to seem more, such as the ability to change coordinates to a user one or distance from Kilometers to miles and vice versa. And may be the ability to specify the gps port.
Also the pc app is a little slow and the PPC apps doesn't see the maps when downloaded and transfered to device(for me at least)

I'm going to add some FAQ here... Is there anything special which would like to be explained? I thought the PPC software is pretty much self explaining, however the map download procedure needs some more explanation. What do you think?

CoPilot

Introduction
CoPilot is an application designed to manage all information about your car. You can record and keep refueling and information about your avarage consumption, prices of fuel and visited petrol stations. Records of upkeep will help you track information about what everything on the car repaired, when and price.
CoPilot also allows you to record videos of your trip. This can help solve some complicated situations or accidents . The video is automatically saved position so you can see where and through which route the video was acquired. You can also take individual photos.
CoPilot is also designed to communicate with OBD module, through which it can read information about the car from its control unit. All data are recorded and saved during the ride. CoPilot can also be controlled by voice. The guidelines as start recording , photographing or add a new refueling is possible to do so while driving just using dictation application information.
Manage your maintenance and add reminders for technical inspection or insurance. You can enter reminders that are bound with the odometer and you will be notified in advance. You can also enter reminders, which are bound with date, such as technical inspection or extension of your liability insurance.
The web interface allows you to access the data via a web browser. Just connect a mobile device to WiFi network and enter into your browser address that was generated by CoPilot. Then you enter this adress into your browser and you get a simple interface where you can view the data from the application.

Version 1.0.3.5 is available
Currently there is a new version of CoPilot app. And what new offers? Better evaluation of the speed from a GPS sensor, which enables better use the application without connected OBD module. Than has been improved upload of large files, so you can upload videos on SkyDrive around one gigabyte of size. Unfortunately, this can not be done in the background. When uploading is therefore necessary to have application running on foreground. This is a limitation of the Windows Phone platform, and it can not be otherwise resolved.
Change log for this verison:
Code:
[feature] better speed measuring throught GPS
[new] instructions for using the OBD and where to buy it
[fixed] fixed host resolving
[fixed] fixed large files upload
I have to admit, this looks very cool! Can you, for us that aren't familiar with how a car communicates with the phone, explain what cars this will be compatible with and what it takes to connect?
dude! you steal copyrighted name CoPilot?
http://windowsphone.com/s?appId=ec860657-f89d-4740-866b-97c44b49a20c
You can't copyright a name, so I assume you meant Trademarked. If it is trademarked, you may need to rename your app or it will be blocked from the store.
Reaction on questions and app name
Hello,
I apologize for writing so late, but I was outside. I will try to reply to all responses.
Regarding the application name.

When I started writing the application I did not know about CoPilot GPS at all. I was coming out of it that my app is a "the second pilot" which is a "co-pilot" but the dash is not like for me. Anyway, this is nothing against CoPilot GPS and certainly I did not want steal anything. There is no problem to rename application. I wrote them an email, but so far nobody response.
Regarding to connectivity.

It is possbile with OBD module (10 - 20 $) and OBD connector contains 99% of the cars after 1995. With the application communicates via BT and allows you to read information that will provide a car. That depends on the type and year of manufacture. However, most of the cars is the ability to provide speed, rpm, load, temperature and engine oil.
I hope I answered to all.
Sincerely,
Stanislav Hacker

and Nyoom (only for fun )
On the movies I tried with Nokia Lumia 820, but now I have Lumia 1520 and all working great too

Yes it is exactly this module I know of only one application from videos, however I use to diagnose CarDash that it also capable enough. Anyway CoPilot is not a diagnostic tool but mainly a tool for recording and presenting data .
CoPilot WebInterface
I have taken up a few flies, and I would like to introduce you to work with video on the web interface.
Perhaps you will like it and if you have a suggestion for improvement, I will be very happy.

Hi guys, I'm glad to announce a Windows Phone port of PrBoom, called D00M (Di-zero-zero-Em)
This port supports all mods (original and custom wad files), supported by desktop PrBoom, i.e. original Doom demo, Doom.wad & Doom2.wad, Plutonia, TNT etc.
But store version came with FreeDoom.wad only (because of copyright limitation). Trial version has only one limitation: you can't add new wads to the game and should stay with FreeDoom.wad.
Here are working TNT & Plutiona mods (working with this PrBoom engine version):View attachment wads.zip
W10M store: https://www.microsoft.com/store/apps/9nblggh4rql0
WP81 store: http://windowsphone.com/s?appid=a3ec4994-9f7c-438a-a12f-abb3c3542e87
Enjoy!
Work's fine.
Thanks
If i install Doom and Doom2, the saved games are stored in different files or the same?
On PC
if i launch Doom with "prboom-plus"
Play game and save game, saved games are stored in "prboom-plus-savegame0.dsg" and if i launch Doom2, go to "load saved games" Doom saved games appears in the list.
The only way i found is create a batch file who rename file before launch.
Hmm, very good question... I'll take a look and will apply a fix (if needed). Thanks a lot for testing and asking that kind of questions!
[UPDATE] It looks like game published in store has some problems with saving games; I'll try to fix it ASAP.
OK, I've fixed the bug (it was my fault, instead of "LocalState" save/load path was pointed to the app's install directory). Also, now games will be saved or loaded for the selected wad only so you may enjoy multi-wad game stage saving
P.S. Small tip from my experience: right after starting, game is kinda busy by loading and starting demo playback; from the user experience it may looks like "load" game is not working or failed. It's not true; give game engine a little rest (demo should start playing) and try to load saved game...
So, new version 1.2.0 is on the way to the store. BTW, now you may check an actual game version on the game's "help" page.
Thank you, Can you add Import and Export Saved Games on One Drive?
To play on my 830 and my 950XL.

Hmm, another good question What about synchronization via "RoamingFolder"? It's a built-in feature of WP8.1 and up. But in that case you must have the same LiveId on both handsets.
All my phones have the same LiveID
Hmm, unfortunately, MS limited roaming folder quota to 100K only; average doom save game file size is more than 100K Sorry, you should wait for another solution (maybe with OneDrive).
I just submitted update 1.4.0 to the store.
Changes:
game controls redesigned: right on-screen "joystick" replaced with tree buttons, one for run forward, and two for strafes. From the practice, instant action buttons are much more useful than triggering 'cause you don't need to synchronize both finger at the same time
added external (USB or BT) keyboard support
cheat codes now working
added ability to backup & restore saved games
joystick sensitivity control added
various bugs fixed
@titi66200, especially for your feature request, I've added ability to import/export saves. Unfortunately, standard folder picker dialog don't have an "OneDrive" location, just a device & sd-card (however, the file picker has this option; I can't completely understand m$ devs logic at all!) so you'll need an extra-step to synchronize saves between handsets. Maybe later I'll add zipping/unzipping all saves to one archive but for now it's OK.
Thank you sensboston. :good:
You're welcome! By the way, I have a question to you: could you please test updated controls on ultra violence complexity and tell me what do you think? Please check controls settings page, you may want to play with "sensitivity" setting...
I can't test now because crash of my 950 XL on update to last RS.
Reflashing my phone but now i must paid again D00M.
I am waiting if MS can solve my issue.
OK. If you want, I can send you a code. However latest game update still on certification, not published yet Hope, it will be published tomorrow.
Hi, I bought D00M and looking forward to play Plutonia.wad, but this wad and others can't load, because if I want start it (wad) D00M will shutdown. Only doom.wad (but shareware) is working. Please, help.
@Smog1995, I've added working freeware mods archive link to the first post. You may find a lil-bit more on the FP of Russian support forum (use Google translate)
On Lumia 1020 and Lumia 950 XL in 'Save Game' when I tap a name for the backup it shows twice the letter.
Ex:
Titi01
TTiittii0011
But not on the Lumia 830.
With the previous version this worked on my 3 Lumia.
Hmm, it's weird I tested on L-950 (official bits), L-635 (WP8.1) and emulator, everything is working fine (I've added external keyboard support and has "double chars" before releasing (SDL keyboard codes was submitted twice) but already implemented fix for 1.4.0 release (submitted to the store). Right now I've re-tested downloaded version on L-950 & L-635, looks good to me.
@titi66200, could you please try to re-install the game (just in case)? Unfortunately, I don't have 1020 or 950XL right now for tests (btw, what kind of OS bits are installed?)
Reinstalled and same thing.
Lumia 1020 OS Win10.0.14385.0
Lumia 950 XL OS Win10.0.14385.0
Lumia 830 OS Win10.0.10586.456

Yeah, kinda... Usually, I don't support "dev preview" (aka "tricky free m$ QA replacement") bits but will try to find a solution just for you. I don't promise anything; first I need to find a handset good for the Redstone build (I've sold good old ones L-920/925 on ebay and now have only cheap WPs in stock, like L-635, L-520 etc. excluding L-950 but I don't want to become a "free ms tester" at all, sorry!)
