slide 2 unlock is working on the athena - Advantage X7500, MDA Ameo ROM Development

You will have to get S2U2 .97
i have noticed on my device its a bit choppy but other than that its working perfectly

i found on mine in 96dpi the screen would freeze, couldnt unlock it, which is a pity as it looks pretty neat

just change format of these two wallpaper (wallpaper and wallpaperL) in gfx folder of s2u and it will qork perfectly !! formats should be 640x480 and 480x640

worked out whats going on in 96dpi, screen tap area isn't being scaled up, so it's only workingin top left quarter of screen

Working yet?
Does anyone know if s2u2 has been fixed to work with realvga yet?

Blue Flames VGA Wallpaper
I'm not sure who's the original artist on this one, but I took the very cool blue flames animated wallpaper that's been floating around the forums awhile and converted it to VGA for our athenas. Unfortunately, I haven't seen a landscape version of this one. It eats up your RAM but man is it mesmerizing...
Enjoy, and thanks to the original graphic designer!

gifs in 640x480 or 480x640 wont work. my "blue flames" works with 620x300 in landscape

Wallpapers

I have an image I wish to use as a wallpaper background on my home screen.
I have cropped the image in photoshop to the exact screen size, I have successfully blue-toothed it from my mac to my Hero, when I go to set it as my background it only takes a section of it and not the whole image itself.
When looking at the standard wallpapers they are all landscape and selecting one also only takes the middle section to use.
Any ideas?
Whenever I have set my own picture as a Home wallpaper, the Hero shows a green cropping rectangle that sets the correct aspect ratio.
Do you not get this ? If so make sure the green box is resized correctly to display your image.
Also... in case I read you wrong... the wallpaper covers all 7 Home screen's and is not supposed to be enclosed in just one. ie you will see a section of it and this will move slightly as you swipe between Home's.
BTW, what did you use to Bluetooth the file from your Mac ? My Mac won't see it in Bluetooth File Exchange.
Of course forgot that it was one giant screen...
Just using the regular built in bluetooth, (have a dual 2.8 imac, OSX 10.6 snow leopard)
On another note - do you know what size the image would have to be made to fit the entire 7 screens (pixels or mm)
Snow Leopard How's that going ??
Maybe 10.6 adds more functionality ?
Did you just pair it with Bluetooth setup ? I did try that but it failed to find any services.
I believe its 640 x 480 or any other size to that aspect ratio.
Snow Leopard is the mutts..... Little bit quicker and I gained approx 15gb on my HD (not really noticeable when you have 1tb internal and 1tb external though )
Various little tweaks and a few old things improved.
Could well be that Snow Leopard has improved functionality, I know my friend had probs running OSX 10.5 and it wasn't seeing his Hero but mine is fine
Sounds good... being ex-Apple its great when the company do things right
mrdavie, I've just installed 10.6 (finally arrived this morning), but the Hero is still not seen as having the necessary services for file transfer - how are you doing it ??

How to set any picture as wallpaper

How to set any picture as wallpaper? when i try to set a picture as wallpaper it asks me to crop the picture. but i want to set the whole picture as wallpaper. cheers
Hey,
I think if you want to have the whole image as your home wallpaper it has to be in 640x480 format. Lockscreen wallpaper has to be 320x480 if you want it without cropping.
the prob is that i have put some 640*480 pictures in sd card. went to gallery and then set 1 of these pictures as wallpaper. but found out that the middle part of a 640*480 picture was stretched and set as wallpaper. in samsung omnia hd which is 640*360 if i set a 640*360 picture as wallpaper the full picture is set from top to bottom.
is it some sort of prob with hero?

Hero has by default (SenseUI) 7 home screens so the background is behind all of those screens. Im not totally sure what do you mean by streching?
If your image is 640x480 you can select the whole image with the green cropping box and then you will have the whole image as a background. Works for me at least.
Pume: i understand what u r saying and i found in the net that many user follow the same method but in my hero if i select whole image with the crop green box it doesnt save the whole image as wallpaper. it still sets a portion of the image as wallpaper. and all my pictures are 640*480.
This definitely isn't a problem with the Hero in general as it works fine on my phone as well. I set the picture to the background by going through the settings, personalise, home screen menus. If you're using a different method, maybe that's the problem...
works fine on mine. Obviously you know that you can NEVER see the whole of the wallpaper at once, bot if you scroll left all the way, you should see the left edge of the wallpaper, and if you scroll all the way to the right you see the right hand side of the wallpaper.
Is that not happening?
There's a good free app on the market called 'Wallpaper Set and Save' that allows you to use the full image - it also uses the full quality image so wallpapers look much better

[Q] Wallpaper size and resolution

Hey guys and gals,
How about wallpaper size and resolution?
What size and resolution of wallpaper are you guys using for the Archos 101. I'm currently trying to find the best size of wallpaper that will allow me to see the whole picture on the screen without having to cut a large chunk out of it.
What are you guys experiencing and have observed.

If you just use the stock wallpaper app, that is never going to happen. It will fore you to cut the picture in a square, and then zooms in.
Use something like Wallpaper Set and Save, or MultiPicture Live Wallpaper. I prefer the latter as it does not cut or crop my picture.
Same as every other Android device.
Double the narrow resolution.
So in our case, wallpaper for the 1024x600 display is 1024x1200.
For some reason though, not sure if it's Archos or Android, the quality is still degraded a bit. Not noticeable for a lot of images unless there's text that's already on the verge of illegible.
thanks, TempestDK! MultiPicture Live Wallpaper worked like a charm
I found that on my A70, I had to use a 1280x1040 image was perfect and gave me the full image. I have a great Super Mario wallpaper on currently (see attachment).
for A70 -> 960 x 800 or 800 x 960 and will work in vertical and horizontal position too
Here is a list of the recommended wallpaper resolutions for each Generation 8 devices
Archos 28 - 320x480 or 480x320
Archos 32 - 400x480 or 480x400
Archos 43 - 854x960 or 960x854
Archos 70 - 800x960 or 960x800
Archos 101 - 1024x1200 or 1200x1024

how about when it is on horizontal??does it fits?
I tried a 1024 x 1200 on my Archos 101 and it didnt look great. It lost the bottom of the picture. Looked OK in Portrait. There's something going on with the way Archos is resizing the pics.....

[Q]Wallpaper size/resolution

Ok so I've decided to stop using live wallpapers as they eat up battery and break launcher pro if I underclock my CPU to save battery.
However I'm having problems getting wallpapers the right size.
I've tried resizing them to 320x480 but when setting them it still asks me to crop them and the crop box isn't even the right shape rectangle when maximised!
So what size should my backgrounds be to fit nicely on the screen?
Try 640 x 480. It worked for me, on Zeam.
For Optimus One wallpaper must be a resolution of 640x480, and all other phones with resolution 320x480.
thanks for the replies, i'll try it out.
It's because the background moves as you swipe home screens. Basically, android wallpapers should have the same height as the screen but twice the width.
Good article on it: http://m.lifehacker.com/5657727/whats-the-deal-with-androids-weird-wallpaper-requirements

[Q] Having issues with wallpaper..

So I have a wallpaper I just want on my homescreen as an image, not chopped out.
Like I have a picture of an animal and want it as my homescreen wallpaper but it just gets all chopped up and zoomed in.
What size do I need to make the wallpaper or what is the trick?
Thanks for any help.
Ed
Standard screen resolution is 480x854 at 240dpi, this means the native is 960x864 at 240dpi; if you take a picture with your camera and want to use the image for your screen wallpaper you'll see that, in the process, it tries to crop it down. During this process you'll have to move the crop boxes, dragging them in order to cover the whole area of the image (not just a piece).
You have to remember that those wallpapers are made to be scrolled so they are in such 3:4 aspect ratio - just see your device so to have the idea of the dimensions of the wallpaper.
Using a custom made wallpaper - an image - is fine but be careful about the dimension: the bigger, the fitter.
So check out the dimensions of the image you are using: a smaller image will be zoomed.
Thank you
You're welcome indeed =)
