it will not work.
I bought a HD2 with a broken touch screen, I ordered a replacement, put it in but it didn't work.
I soldered it and no connections touch eachother (tested with a multimeter).
do I have to close my HD2 completely before testing it out or something?

Yea of course please tell me you didn't try it with the screen of if so you may of screwed it up more
The device was off when I replaced it if that is what you mean By closing it I meant putting it back together, but I tried that with no positive results.
So any solutions?
buy a new one or buy selling the parts you have or keep them and buy a new one.
So what do you think the problem is?
Bump, does anybody have an idea on why it doesn't work? I really want to fix this phone so I can upgrade from a htc magic

Have you done this before? I mean replaceing the touch screen on a HD2? Did You follow all instructions?
I have trawled the net for weeks on end. It appears no one is selling either the digitizer or lcd/digitizer combo for this unit. My unit's touch panel is cracked and I was hoping I could find a replacement and fix it myself. I can't even find a cheap Chinese knock-off. The closest thing available on the net is the LCD panel without the digitizer. My LCD is working fine.
If anybody has a dead Archos 101 with a good working LCD/Digitizer, I am willing to buy.
Anybody knows the technical specification for the LCD/digitizer? any part numbers? any substitutes that can work? I pulled mine apart but cannot identify any relevant manufacturer code/part numbers.
Thanks folks.
How much do you want to pay?
Sent from my A101IT using xda premium
@pitflyer, PMed you about this.
Anyone know where you can get a replacement screen/Digitizer?
Mine is smashed and parts aren't easy to find for it
If not whats the best way to wipe all personal info from it when screen and touch aren't working? If its going in the bin I'd like to wipe it first
Had the same problem with my A70... you can find the LCD easily, but It seems like it's impossible to get the touch Digitizer ...
perhaps...

1) Connect to computer and install new firmware ?
2) Break it open and remove the SD ?
3) Set it on fire ?
4) All of the above in that order !

Archos 101 IT LCD Touch Screen seems to be a CHI MEI N101L6-L02

If the display itself is still working, but touchscreen is cracked you might enter recovery and wipe data partition and stuff.
Only power and vol+/vol- buttons are necessary.

I once did some research on the parts used for the A101 devices.
See this post:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=16452190&postcount=12
There's a datasheet collection ready for download.
- TFT-Display is Chimei N101L6-L02
- Touchscreen is probably made by Pixcir using a Touchplus TR16C0 controller

Hey I just got a T-MOBILE HTC TP2 from Craig's list, and the G and V keys on the Physical Keyboard dont work!
Would this be a problem with and Keyboard or the Motherboard?
Thanks, G

Probably keyboard, but how can we tell? It is probably difficult to tell even with a visual inspection, whether the mobo or keys themselves are at fault....
If you're brave, you can try to pull it apart and see if anything is awry. Otherwise, you might have just bought a dud.
The buttons can be separated and the contacts cleaned. It might fix the issue, and is not too bad of a job. You will need some t-5 bits/screwdriver.

Alright I'll try it out! thanks!
I think I found the problem: It's the MOBO. Right above the G circuit there's a short, and the V being connected to it, therefore doesn't work.
Is there any way to fix a short circuit?

Um, remove what is shorting it? Repair broken path ways? Take it to a electronics repair shop perhaps...
Pics might help us understand what you are talking about. Your description is so vague.
I can't seem to find this thing ANYWHERE.
Does anyone know where I can get one of these?
Try ebay for parts
