This might be a very stupid question, but I can't find an answer. For some days an new icon appeared on the top bar " e" See picture.
Can anyone explain me what it means and how I can get rid of it?
thx for your help
That means Edge, the (American?) high-speed data network.
It's a faster alternative to GPRS. Where are you?
(wrong forum, I think )
Thx aul, but I am in Belgium.

I know it is Edge now, but the question is why did it pop-up only a few days ago. I guess it came after I installed one of the Vista roms and how can I get rid of it? I am not using GPRS or Edge at all and it is only taken space at the top bar.
if you really want get rid of the icon, maybe you can refer my experience.
I'm Chinese, user of China Mobile, I chosed to closed the operation of GPRS in China Mobile, no matter the G icon or E icon were disappeared.

it takes no space at top bar, isn't it.. It just replace the other one.. If you use wifi, this will change to wifi network.
Standard Icon is 3 icon at top bar. and you have still 3.. So that is the same, isn't it?

Hi,
When i have sent an MMS, the G ikon i still showing. Normale on Qtek 8310 i kan remove it by pressing the red button, but how do I do it on Qtek 8500?
The G icon is telling you that you have GPRS coverage. If you mean that your GPRS connection is still open after sending an MMS you can close it from the commanager clicking on button 4.
EDIT: To open the Comm Manager Click Start > Comm Manager or from Home Screen, simply highlight the area where the Operator name is shown and click. Then click button 4 do disconnect GPRS/EDGE.
Addition :: The "G" will show up in two places on your title bar. The big G in the center simply shows that you have a GPRS connection available. When you actually connect, a small "G" will show up in the right corner with your strength indicator. That means that you are actually connected to GPRS.
If you are worried about still being connected, then the small G is the one to look for.
absolutely correct...
Is there a way to get rid of the big "G" icon? It's consuming precious space on the title bar and I know that I always have GPRS coverage anyway... :?
Hey there!
I use AOKP build 25 on my SGS and it worked perfectly before three days ago a new entry in my notification bar showed up and I can't get rid of it (see attached screenshot).
It's German, so in the upper line it says something like "Delete", and below "Text selection". When I click it, the system's memory usage is being opened but it's not going away.
Yesterday I noticed, that my Gmail doesn't sync even all settings are correct and haven't changed ever.
Has anybody info bout that or experienced similar behaviour? Can you tell me what the hell that thingy is?
Thank you!
Tom

Hi Guys
I just purchased a H96 Pro Plus, in the status bar there is a solid circle icon that wont disappear no matter what I do, I also don't know what program it's tied to.
I'm just wondering if anyone has had a similar problem or if someone knows what it is, its freaking me out because it looks like a recording icon.
Android version of box is 7.1.1
I am posting here because I have no idea where else to post about this
Thanks in advanced! imgur.com/a/YXJf1
I cant submit an image

Hi, I just got this box with 7.1.1 and have the same circle icon. Not really sure what it is, but if i find out I'll post back here.
It wouldn't be the button to get back to the home screen like on any other Android device?

No, it's up top in the right hand corner where the time and wifi icon is.
When I click there all it shows is the wifi icon and a few others but the solid circle icon isn't there in the menu.
I'm thinking it's tied to a hidden system app but I have no idea what!
If you have a touchpad or mouse do a quick double click on the bar to make it show up fully.
Then you should be able to see what program is linked to it.
Go in the app manager and disable all notifications for that app - the circle should disappear.

I've done that, there's nothing there with the solid circle only the usual icons.
Even when I click on edit icons to either add or remove them; there is no solid circle icon there, this is what leads me to believe it's tied to a hidden app.
You wouldn't have the app "Sixaxis Controller" installed by any chance?

Nope, I have nothing like that installed.
Then I am running out of ideas here what could be represented by a solid circle
On my unit (7.1.1), the solid circle disappeared when I made change in system language. Just change it to anything, then change it back.
Another icon that may appear there is a circle with minus symbol in it. Thats means you mute the unit.

Wow that actually worked, how weird that it's related to language.
Thank You...
With the H96 Pro Plus (or others that are S912 devices) that have a solid white circle in the notification bar on the right side, this is a trojan indicator that is part of the Wireless Update utility. The updates for these boxes don't work anyway, even more so the wireless update. If you ran any decent anti-malware / anti-virus software on the device you would find the trojan. The solution is to uninstall the Wireless Update without running it and reboot.
For the white circle with the line in the middle, that is the DO NOT DISTURB icon. That can be changed in settings. Search for the word "Disturbed" in settings and turn it off.
Should you happen to get the White Trojan Token icon again, see what apps you have recently loaded. Run an app, like Malwarebytes against it and see if you possibly loaded something you really don't need on your device.
It should be noted a lot of MTK and S912 devices with hacked Chinese firmware may cause this icon to appear. It also shows up with hacked Yoka KB2 software upgrades. In this case, it is usually a BitCoin miner installed on your system, and it takes more than root permissions to remove it. Should this appear on an MTK device, run any form of benchmark software to test memory and you might be surprised the memory and CPU cores you thought you had were all a coded facade.
Hope this helps.
I permanently have EE in the top left corner of my screen as it's my network operator. But it's bloody annoying because at a glance i think I have a message/notification because I've never had that before on a phone. Any way I can get rid of it?

Settings + ? "Network Name" = untick
Thanks! I thought I'd looked all through the settings for that! Must have looked at it like 5 times and never actually seen it! Lol
Please advise how to get rid of it. I don't want to see it or use this function. Is it possible to do this. I am attaching a pix. I have tried several things in WiFi settings and advanced settings to no avail.

I figured it out the fix.
Ian B
How did you fix it then?
I want to get rid of that as well. Help please.

This should be possible with system ui tuner, you don't need root to do it
Can someone actually reply to this thread with a set of steps? I am getting pretty frustrated by that icon... and it seems like Samsung attempts the VPN connection even though I disabled it and interferes with AdGuard's VPN or other VPNs.
So. Beside the fact that it is bulls**t, it still tries to do some magic.

I got irritated as well with this. I went into settings>apps>SecureWifi, scrolled down to the notifications options, and selected muted/hidden on lockscreen.
I haven't seen that damn icon since.

I have the same settings. But that hides it from the lockscreen only. The icon and notification is still in the notification bar and list when the phone is unlocked.
