Replacement internal battery? - MDA, XDA, 1010 General

Hi all, sorry this is my first post, Just got a XDA 1 from Ebay, and the battery doesn't hold a charge (same as a post down), is there a way to change the internal battery?
Also, is there any device that i can plug into the unit to give me blue tooth, so i can pair it with my Ipaq HP2210? or use My tom-tom with the XDA?
I looked in the wiki and searched the web, but all i found were links to XDA ii and the like.
Any help would be most appreciated

hmm, seems to be a distinct lack of replyage going on around here?
Ok, ill make it easier, would this battery fit the XDA original (wallaby)

Get your XDA back charging!!!...UPDATE

Hello
in the last few weeks i got some emails of ppl who had problems charging
their XDA's. So i decided to redo my Mod and make a few new pics.
First of all it seems like XDA Charger can't filter fluctuations in the powerline hence the fuse that is supposed to make sure your XDA wont be fried blows and you cant charge it anymore.
The fuse itself seems to be a 1.5 AMP fuse, unfortunatly i wasnt able to get one of these babies in...i could have used the 3.0 AMPs but i thought it
might be smarter to stick with the specs.
So where to get it from? Fortunatly i discovered that the same fuse is
built into the XDA twice. The second one is responsible for the extended battery pack, which i dont use. Perfect for my mod
Please DO NOT do this if you dont know anything about soldering.
I was just lucky Just call and expert...most will do it for free or charge a small fee.
@Peter Poelman : i hope you like this one better
Okay...lets start with the pics...
its upside down...lol
lucky the ones who preview
sorry for that
Before i forget...after this mod you should not use an extended battery pack anymore....i bought a 1800mAh battery from expansys.
which lasts me for 7 hours hard PDA gaming fun...
Aquasesh,
Your post will quite probably save my day as I have pluged the wrong cable in my XDA.
But I'm quite unclear on the exact order of your picture. I've seen it's been posted in reverse but I'm still confuse.
Could anyone put numbers instead of my X so that I can next search a techni guys to have him do it for me.
. X X
. X X
. X X

Tanguy
Ignore the bottom picture, then read right, left, right, left, right, left.
Where's the blown fuse?
I know it's been a while since you must have done this but how do I get the top cover off. I unscrewed the one black screw I could find and managed to get the 4-way cursor button out but I don't see how to get access to the front to do the soldering.
Thanks,
Daniel

hi
I have solder the fuse one month ago...and works fine...now after charge in my car the wallaby stay´s off...try to solder the fuses again...but nothing.
Is my wallaby dead?
to all
better replace fuse with same value, not bigger or with wires, and check your charger, maybe voltage is too high.otherwise you'll damage your device.abnormal voltage input may fry your xda.

XDA DEAD! Battery shows 3.5v!

Does anybody out there know what may be wrong with my wee Wallaby? The battery fuse is gone, so i've jumpered it out but despite the battery voltage being 3.5v the unit wont start at all. It doesn't respond to any reset and I cant get it to enter bootloader mode. Any info would be appreciated, i'm an electronic engineer and noticed there are quite a lot components involved in the battery circuit.
Thanks.
Buy a replacement on ebay for 10 us . LOL Upgrade your wallaby its olddddddddddd
Yeah, i've ordered one already! I was unsure though if this was going to be a waste of cash. A whole £13! I'll let you know how it works out. Thanks for the reply.
I think you have probably fried the logic on the battery. As for upgrading, I think the Wallaby is the best value pda/phone available anywhere.
Hi there,
Got my new battery and low and behold it has brought my Wee Wallby back from the grave! The battery IC's must have been faulty, there's five pins on the circuit board for the motherboard to connect to so I reckon the battery logic is quite sophisticated.
Thanks for the help guys, I tried O2 in Glasgow but they didn't want to help at all unless the XDA was a warranty job.
I've also upgraded my ROM to the one and only XDA Developers special and I have to say it's a real improvement all round.
Goodnight gadget lovers!

HTC Flyer Battery needed

Long sad sad story short:
Bricked my Flyer to the point where it didn't boot up, had wrong radio roms and in the end, the battery died.. now it just blinks orange..
HTC Repairs said that the motherboard needs to be replaced, which I find very hard to believe, since it worked just "FINE" before the battery died
In my search for a Battery for the device I only came by chinese bulk sale pages, 100pcs minimum order.
Would be very grateful if anyone can point me to a page or person who can spare a full Flyer/Evo battery, or better yet, who knows how to manually charge the battery, if possible, using a power generator..
(And yes, I did a search on the forums but no clear lines of help in my question)

Battery Replacement on HP Touchpad

HI All,
I wasn't even sure I was going to post this or not but I thought it might help someone out. This is not meant to be a "how to" post and you should proceed at your own risk.
A friend of mine had a 16gb Touchpad that he hadn't used in several years. It was just sitting in a box for several years. When I told him I was still using mine to watch videos and such he decided to dig his out. Unfortunately it wasn't in very good shape. The battery had swollen and had practically pop the screen out of the case. I'm fairly handy at fixing things so I told him I would give it a shot to replace the battery.
I wasn't very hard to open the case because the swollen battery had pushed the screen up and gave me easy access to the clips that hold the screen in. By gently prying up under the screen to released the remaining clips the screen came away from the other half. There are 2 cables attaching the screen to the MB so be careful. I wish I would have taken more pics but I didn't think about posting a how to. There are a couple of good how to's online and batteries are available online for around $30.

Once I separated the screen from the body I had to pry the battery out. It is stuck down with some pretty sticky tape on the underside of the battery. You have to pry up pretty hard but you also have to be gentle as not to damage the copper foil that is under the battery. Once the battery is free you can give it a little pull to disconnect the cable from the motherboard. The online how to has you disconnecting all the little cables from the MB and actually removing the whole MB from the case. This is not necessary. The only thing that needs to be removed is the usb module and one or two screws from the MB near the battery connector. With a little patients, good light you should be able to mate the new battery plug to the connector. Just make sure you line the two connectors up and use a small tool to push the plug all the way onto the connector. Now once the battery is installed just replaced the parts in reverse order and you should be good to go.
Hope this helps someone,
Cheers
Thanks! My battery is equally swollen but working just fine, so I'm not sure if I need to do this before it fails. I hope it doesn't explode further or cause a fire!
It's curious, I was going to open a new thread right about that and I've found yours!
I extracted the old swallen battery from my touchpad many months ago but I still have to buy a new battery.
I believe that the batteries sold online were producted many years ago and, considering the value of the touchpad on the used market, 30 dollars are not little in my opinion.
Does anybody by chance know of any cheaper alternative battery that could be adapted to the touchpad?

They are lithium. If the pack is swollen it has gone bad.
Replace as soon as possible. The risks with lithium are too high.
Hi all,
It's over 4 years since the last posting in this thread, but thought I'd check in anyway.
The battery in my Touchpad does not appear to be swollen (no obvious bulging in the case. However, it seems the battery is not retaining a charge as long as it used to so I'm wondering if anyone has a legit source for a replacement. My backup plan is to take the TP apart and see if I can provide an access point for an external source (battery or P/S) and would be interested f anyone has done this, as well.
The TP is certainly not as fast or have as much memory capacity as current tablets, but its display is beautiful and the price was certainly right (firesale
Thanks in advance for any help.....cheers (and happy upcoming holidays!

You can look for all about the battery on this thread:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/hp-touchpad-poweroff-prevents-battery-drain.4002265/
If the Tablet boots, then just keep it charging.
This thread provides some information on how to wake up the battery:

Appreciate the links. They were helpful. However, it did not answer my specific question: Replacement battery and a reliable source for it. I will try some of the suggestions to see if I can "rebuild" the battery charging capacity, but at 11 years old, there will be limits to doing this.
Cheers and happy holidays back to you....
