Hi I was wondering if there was a program or cab file that would disable the keyboard light from ever turning on. The light is unnecessary for me and I would like to turn it off. Also I would like to know if there is a program that would apply a progress bar when you are sending files through bluetooth. Thanks in advance.
why you don't swith on the option, that the keybord light ist controled by the lightsensor? then your keybord light only goes on when it's dark outside.....
I dont want the keyboard light to turn on. Even when im outside. I hate when it turns on when i dont want to waisting battery.
I beleave this registry change will do it for you (dword 0 is off & 1 is on):
This value is responsible for turning Keyboard Led on/off in general:
HKCU\ControlPanel\Backlight\"QKeyLedOnOff"=dword:00000000
I've just noticed my HD2 back light completely turns off ,and it is frequent.I can only weak up it by turning off and turning on again, I assume therer some problems with the light sensor? The backlight turns off is just like when you are talking on a phone and put your phone close to your ear. Aslo, when I plug it to charge via Ac power(via usb to PC is fine), the drak orange led light is always flashing which is abnormal.
I have tired a clean boot and unplug SIM card, micro sd card, the issue is still here, I guess I have got a hardware problem? I have used it very carefully, how come it has that issue?
Any fellows here have the same issues so far?
Thanks.

You can set up the backlighting behaviour as follows:
Go to: Settings tab > Sound & Display > Backlight
Find the entry "Dim Backlight if device is not used for"
Change the value to whichever duration suits you
You can set this up for when the device is unplugged or when it is on external power.
Thanks for the reply, however, it does't solve my problem, the backlight is completely turned off, theres no backlight at all, which mean you can see nothing even under completely dark condition.
Btw, this issue is gone while on charging(PC/AC).

So I am the only one so far has this issue?
After a clean boot(hard reset)it still happened, some times the backlight is even turned off when it's booting up, and I cannot active the backlight by tapping the screen.The only solution is press the power off button twice.
This is really weird...
Someone please help...
After the battery fully charged, the backlight won't turn off until the power drop to 50%, the only solutions I found is keeping the coreplayer running in the background, and the coreplayer will stop "something" to turn the damn backlight off.
I guess it's hopeless to find out what the problem is, as I have used WM phones for many years and first time has such weird problem.
OK,HD2, I am giving up you.

The only thing I can think of is an additional program that you may have installed... hmm but after a hard reset it should work.. well i could suggest that you flash the stock ROM over the current one... I mean not HR.. but flash the ROM in active sync mode connected to the PC. Could be that your shipped ROM has some errors.. which ROM are you on? Check the wiki to download the official ROM that match yours.. download and flash over the current one...
Try this:
HKCU -> ControlPanel -> BackLight -> BatteryTimeoutUnchecked
HKCU -> ControlPanel -> BackLight -> ACTimeoutUnchecked
or
HKCU -> ControlPanel -> BackLight -> BatteryTimeoutTemp
HKCU -> ControlPanel -> BackLight -> ACTimeoutTemp
Play around with these.
It's not always helpful but sometimes
My current rom is 1.48.832.0,which is a Asian WWE rom, I can only find the Asian 1.48.832.1 ROM, but it said this rom dosen't fit my phone when at 2% progress...
I am enough with it, this issue is only disappeared when battery is full, when battery drops to about 70%, it happens again.
So I can consider this is a hardware issue after charging on a AC power, and the led is flashing during chagring .

I am having a slightly different issue, but it is also related the backlight option. I have set up my phone so that the backlight should automatically turn off if not used for 1 minute (I have ticked this box in settings). Unfortunately, for some reason the box keeps getting automatically unticked, so the backlight remains on even if I am not using the device, unless I press the stand-by button. As you can imagine, this is really affecting the phone's battery life.
I don't have any major registry editor installed, except BSB tweaks (set on Low power mode) and have a stock ROM (WWE 1.66). Anyone have any ideas?
Hi
I seem to experience this problem on all HD2s. I activated the phonelock on HD2 and used a simple PIN for unlocking it. When I'm in the LockScreen, keying my PIN, the phone goes to suspend mode (or it seems like it, since the screen just blacks out and i need to press the power button again to see the lockscreen) after about 13 sec, everytime. This phenomenon happens only when phone is using battery power. It works fine when running on external power.
Is there a way disable this issue, or extend the time it blacks out. I'm using the default WM6.5 rom 1.66.707.1
Please help, Thank you.
same problem with me ! any solutions ???
settings menu all settings system power backlight
try increasing the timeout.
also settings menu all settings lock
see what options are in there. (mine won't start so i can't test it.)
I have tried all the settings i can find on the phone. I even tried changing Registry values that might be related to the timeouts. but still the same.
The screen will black out even while you are typing, so this rules out all the timers that will suspend the phone when idle for too long.
Please help, as this is a big issue for me.
Thanks.
My home key and screen lock stopped working spontaneously overnight. When I push the power button, my i9100 goes to sleep, but pressing it again results in it waking to the screen I left it on, rather than my lock screen (pattern/PIN etc). My home key no longer does anything either; installing and running https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=aws.apps.keyeventdisplay&hl=en shows it not generating any KeyEvents.
Most of the posts here relate to missing /efs/imei/keystr or it not containing ON, but I have keystr and it only contains ON. I've echo'ed to it for good measure, but (unsurprisingly) that had no effect. I've tried clearing my credentials so I could disable the screen lock altogether, and re-enable it, but that doesn't help either.
EDIT: I do have a backup of /efs from about a month ago, just after I upgraded from GB 2.3.5 to ICS 4.0.3. The only differences between it and a backup taken after this point are a) nv_data.bin and nv_data.bin.md5 differ (presumably as a result of disabling/re-enabling the lock protection) and b) there is a 1 byte file named sdkm1 (ess dee kay em one, not sdkml) which simply contains 0x31.
The only thing that might have provoked this is my editing of /system/usr/keylayout/Generic.kl as per http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=28752382 so revert ICS' change to the function of my wired headset skip buttons. I added 'WAKE' to the MEDIA_NEXT, MEDIA_PREVIOUS and MEDIA_PLAY_PAUSE to try to overcome intermittent responses to those buttons. I've since reverted that change and power cycled, but that didn't help either (I didn't really expect it to).
Anyone else experienced this and/or got a fix?
Weird. I just noticed that along with a lot of my other settings (ringtone, default notification, default keyboard, sound effects), my Samsung DIVE stuff was disabled too. I couldn't re-enable 'SIM change alert' and 'remote controls' (they would just automatically untick after a brief delay). Due to a bug in Samsung's ICS, I was able to remove my Samsung account (this was disallowed without a factory reset in previous versions, for obvious security reasons!). Upon recreating it, DIVE started working again, and eventually, I was able to send the 'lock my mobile' command from DIVE's web console. Eventually (a few minutes), my mobile acted upon that, I unlocked it with the PIN I set, and then the lock screen and home key started working again.
/efs/sdkm1 still exists, so I guess that's unrelated.
Hi. Today I rooted my phone using Odin 3.7 and Siyah-s2-v6.0b5 kernel, everything went fine, installed few applications like Smart Launcher, customized everything and messed around with a phone but after few hours noticed that my menu and back button lights stay always on. I tried everything, turning energy saver on and off, changing button light duration (off to on etc) and nothing helped. Lights kept staying no matter what. They only turn off with the screen (I changed the setting to 15 seconds). Why is that?
Yes, I did factory reset too actually. All my applications are now gone (I hate doing backups, but whatever) and I thought it will sort this issue out but it didn't help. Is there something that could be done without flashing ROM or kernel again? I'm paranoid of bricking my phone.
I googled and seems like I'm the only one with this problem. Android version 4.1.2. First time noticed this problem today after rooting.
P.S. I tried also some moderators solution here: sys/class/misc/notification/led_timeout change value to -1 but no effect, value doesn't change, reverts back.
EDIT: sorry I don't find the option to delete the thread. The problem was solved using STweaks application (got the idea from some member here to edit option in BLN folder) and I set timeout to 1 sec and everything is fine now. Thank you stranger very much.
