First off let me say GREAT JOB by DCD and Co... I'm a former 6700 user (used to mod over at PPC6700users) and just recently upgraded to the Mogul... I'm new to the whole kitchen thing and with ease was able to use the new kitchen 2.3.0... Again, thanks to DCD and all other who contributed... I cannot begin to express how much we all appreciate the hard work and support you guys provide us...
Now to the question:
As mentined earlier, I have recently updated to 2.3.0 and as well updated the radio to 3.27.00... For some reason I am not able to get a lock with GPS... Can any one assist...?
I'm not sure if I missed something somewhere (the search feature in this forum is not the greatest). I have searched high and low with no luck...
Thanks in advance...
1st time take long time, u need to leave it outside running for 30 minutes and connect using GPS Immediate Driver.
Also, try making a couple of calls from your Mogul and let it connect to the call for a couple of minutes. Mine wouldn't get a lock until I made a phone call. Maybe, it needs to register your location thru whatever cell site it connects thru. Although, that's just my own opinion, not really sure, but after I made a few calls, Google maps found me in less than a minute.

I didn't know it would take that long... I had read previous post where people said it connected within a minute but sure enough I set it by the window went and had dinner and there they were, 4 pretty little satelites waiting for me when I checked...
I guess I was too impatient... ;O)
Thanks to both for the advise... Let me learn my way around this mogul and who know's, maybe one day I can return the favor...

You can always warm up the GPS with software.
GPSLAUNCHER is to warm up the GPS to work with Tom Tom. This application launches Tom Tom after it warms up the GPS.
Just extract and copy to your device -- \windows\start menu\programs
GPSVIEWER1.5 is for other applications such as google maps and so on.
This one is installed through your computer ( I believe )
If you need assistance feel free to ask.
Excellent... I'll give it a try...
Does 2.3.0 have aPGS enabled by default?
If not, go to HLKM\Software\HTC\SUPL AGPS
Set GPSMode to 4
Also, I would find and install QuickGPS.
Give that a shot and see if it speeds up your locks
Got GPS Working on VZW XV6800
I followed all the instructions:
Installed latest Unlocker (Hard-SPL-240-MFG.exe)
Installed latest Radio (Titan_Radio_3.27.00.exe )
Install DCD 2.3.1 (downloaded from this link): Size=37.16Mb
http://www.fileshex.com/download.php?file=1426af0da72a82fe758300e3980f7520
Got everything up and running. (Following directions from XDA forums)
Couldn't make a phone call. Send an SMS, or search the net on IE.
Figured out I needed to call Verizon for an A-key. (Authentication Key)
She asked why i needed it and I told her "i am doing some Windows Mobile sftware developing and had to do multiple HARD resets throughout the day). She said no prob and talked me through the A-key entry using ##778(I think its that. dont worry, CS will talk you through without hesitation.
Anyway. make sure you write the A-key down when customer service gives it to you cause its suppose to be the one assigned to your Phone number and should work every time you need to enter it. If it doesn't then just call them back and give them the same story and they will give you another A-key.
that fixed the data connection problem.
BTW: upgrading the Software deleted my Data connection password and user name.
Password is (Your 10 digit [email protected]) password is (VZW).
NOW, i am back to working conditions and DCD 2.3.1 is awesome.
Love the Iphone style SMS conversation format. Lets you view each conversation you have with a person in a straight separate list of texts. no more need to hop back and forth between Sent Box and Inbox to decipher conversations.
SO, everything works EXCEPT GPS. had all the settings right. like Location ON in Setting, Phone, Services Tab, Click on Location Settings, Get Settings, select "Location ON". Had Com 5 selected on software in external GPS settings. Hardware set to "None" 4800 Baud. Still nothing.
Google Maps keeps showing that its searching for satellites but to no avail.
Finally, came across a post about a free program called "GPS Today" Looked cool so gave it a shot.
Sure as **** it worked immediately. Got 5 satellites connected and there was the little blue dot on top of my house!!! YEEE HAAA
After a little trial and error i figured out the program.
Still i wanted Google Maps to work with GPS.
BA BA BA BAAAAAAA! I turned on Google Maps and all of a sudden it picked up 5 satellites and I was up and running.
Bottom line, I think GPS Today did something and it got Google Maps to start using GPS.
THANK YOU TO ALL WHO PUT UP AWESOME POSTS.
I think I might be retarded...
I did everything I think I was supposed to do, I unlocked, flashed the radio, then flashed DCD's ROM...
My screen says:
ROM Version dcd2.3.1
Radio Version 3.27.00
but, I can't get the GPS to work with TomTom6...
I tried using the GPSLauncher, AstroGPSLauncher, and QuickGPS...
Any ideas?

It will answer all your questions about GPS with Tom Tom
Everything seems to be in order now... Thanks everyone for all the advise... Now I'm going to play around and find an app that I like... I've tried TomTom (don't like it)... GoogleMaps is very basic but to be honest I'm looking for something a bit basic but functional as well which gMaps is not that functional as a GPS software plus it downloads from the net which seems to be a bit laggy... I'll find something but suggestions are welcome too...
Thanks again everyone...

When asking for help, would it be helpful to let others know what you are looking for in a GPS software? Basic but functional isn't a very good description.
TomTom6 paired with AstroGPSLauncher is a great combination. I don't have to start GMaps or other program to get the GPS going, I have GPS that doesn't have to have a data connection, for when I'm in the U.P. and there is no signal.
GoogleMaps is Basic in the sense that it is a 2D Map, which I like for use on the phone... Let's face it, this phone has a lot going on in the background besides just the GPS and Map app which to me makes it a bit slow and less responsive than normal when trying to process the graphical 3D maps... I don't need 3D mapping, virtual views or anything like that... A 2D Map is perfect... but GooleMaps lacks TTS, a decent search engine, Route recalculation, etc... which are characteristics of a good GPS unit... I like MioMaps for the fact that you can change your means of trasportation from car to bus to taxi to bike to pedestrian, etc, etc, etc... These types of options make more sence to me on a mobile device such as our phones since we could be traveling and need to switch from one means to another...
I'm going to look into MioMaps and see... but in the mean time, if anyone has other suggestions or experience with MioMaps on the Titan, your input would be greatly valued...

Hey... I think I remember you as "davidew98" on PPC6700users... am I right? We had all kinds of fun trying to dissect the 6700 through QPST... still have the thread bookmarked in Firefox.
I'll throw in a plug for Odyssey Mobile (http://www.infogation.com) as a navigation program that I really like. It came bundled with my Holux GPSlim 236 BT unit that I bought after I gave up on getting internal GPS to work with the 6700. The only thing it's missing that the others like TomTom have is text-to-speech... it doesn't say "Turn right on Main Street" but instead just says "Turn right in 200 feet". Other than that it does everything else really well.
And, I have had zero problems with it working with the 6800's internal GPS... just point Odyssey at COM port 4 and it just works... no launcher or "priming" required.

Hi everyone
does anyone know how to get TomTom Navigator 6 to run on the Lobster 700TV?
I have managed to get the application lock sorted now but not TT N6. I know that TT N6 lists in its code the phones that it will run on but the Monet is not one of them. I have used a hex editor to overwrite another HTC phone in the code in the hope that this may work. Although the phone now starts to run TT N6, it stops with the error: "not digitally signed ...". There must be something else that needs changing but I am not sure what.
Has anyone got any ideas?
Regards ...
I got it working, but it would not find the map, or should I say it crashed when it got to that stage.
TomTom MOBILE (v5.2) works fine
I know that this may not help, but I've got TomTom MOBILE (App Version 5.200 (4450)) working on the Lobster.
I think you've found out that version 6 does not work.

It seems that TomTom Navigator 6 is a step backwards. I have had to do a lot of hacking with the software but without success so far although a breakthrough seems close.

Hi ringp3ace
I have now tried TT Mobile 5.2 and yes, it works. I went on eBay and found this software for sale at £22 including PP. If anyone is intrested, there are 4 more left so be quick.
All the best,

Well, thanks to ringp3ace, I now have fully functional Tomtom Mobile working on my Lobster. Problem is, my bluetooth GPS device (GRB-288), wont play ball. I can pair and connect ok but there's no communication going on. I know there are some bluetooth devices that sulk when they are used with some phones but does anyone know which bluetooth GPS will work with the Lobster?
Regards
I'm having problems installing 5.20 on my Monet - using the download from the tomtom site it instals successfully up to the Jane voice then fails saying it isn't compatible with this device and backs out all the previous instals. Any ideas? I have a proper product key as I bought tomtom 6 for my pda and I can move tomtom 5 to the monet. Cheers

Thanks for your input but I have already found that the BT GPS 77 device also works well. I now have TT 5.2 running well on the Lobster.

TomTom6 working (sort of)
I managed to install TomTom6 onto the Monet. It runs OK, but the lack of a touchscreen is the killler though - just too difficult to use without one.
Certain screens require the touch screen (setting up the GPS, selecting a postcode). The fakecursor/touch screen emulator is not an ideal solution either as I can't see how to assign the fakecursor program to a hardkey on the Monet.
I went back to 5.2 which runs fine. 5.0 doesn't as the screen goes garbled.
Can anyone help, I keep getting "set up is not a valid windows ce application" when trying to run tomtom mobile 5.2
hard to say without more info.
sounds like you are trying to run a .exe file on the monet that should really be run on the PC (if its the setup file)
The executable file that should be run on the monet is TomTom Mobile.exe
Can anyone help me,
when trying to install tomtom mobile 5.2 it freezes on the voice selection.
Anyone any ideas
Thanks in advance

Help with TT Navigator 5.2
To all those how are still trying to get Lobby to play with TT.
First, make sure your Lobster is 'application unlocked' (see start of this thread)
Next, ensure that you are trying to install version 5.2 of TT Navigator and that it is a Windows Mobile version (there are several versions). The Symbian version for some phones will load but not run.
Once loaded correctly, TT Navigator 5.2 will self install from the software loaded to the phone using the HOME application on your PC. This application will 'see' the connected Lobster and memory card.
I have spent hours trying to find the 'secret' and I can tell that it does work. If you read through this thread you will find others that have too.
If you still have problems, let me know
Regards
Thank you for the help Leadweight

Many thanks again

1) Why not check on the developer's website or email the developer regarding this issue?
2) FWIW, I've found that so far all the WM5 or higher apps that I use work fine on the display.

iGuidance is fine in QVGA mode. Some of the set-up screens do not adapt as well to VGA (96dpi) but the mapping portion looks good and works well with both VGA and QVGA--high-res maps! Very nice! Overall, it is usable, although I have now switched to TeleNav as my primary GPS solution, with iGuidance as a back-up. (PS: This is with version 4.)

I feel it is worth it. Google Maps is limited in that it does not active routing or voice directions as you drive. TeleNav does this, plus searching is pretty good, maybe not quite as good as Google. But decent. Both Google Maps and TeleNav are limited in that you have to have an active data connection (not good for wilderness). Commerical packages (I use iGuidance) don't need the data connection and have good voice and routing features. But you have to wait for your annual (expensive) update to get the latest maps and search info. All in all, TeleNav ends up costing a little more than the annual update but I think it delivers the goods.

I get a "failed to create empty document" using quickgps under the new WM6.1 DCD rom 2.1. I tried the registry hack and verified that the region says US. Is this just incompatible with this version of WM at this point? Still uncertain if it really helps with initial lock but would like to try. Thanks.

i am not familiar with quickgps and im just guessing here, but does it require sqlcemobile maybe?
Use the patched quickgps and registry settings here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=1862269&postcount=2
You will need registry edditing software such are resco to import the reg file. I used to use the free PHM regedit, but it is not capable of importing .reg files. So I installed Resco file explorer/registry editor and it is well worth the $25.

thank you, but please thank TalynOne for this one, all I did is drag and drop a couple files he was nice enough to provide.
Well let's see, the program dumps ephemeris data to a file called: xtra.bin
If you grep the gps drivers (and or the entire roms we use) you will find ZERO references to this file. So, congragulations, you're running a program which is entirely worthless on our device with our current drivers.
Just in case someone didn't understand that, this is not supported by our gps driver, it does nothing for us.
Yeah, if QuickGPS data is actually used on a cold GPS boot is unknown. That's why I wrote the warning in the FAQ that it hasn't been verified that QuickGPS actually does anything. A couple of people indicated that it does, but it may be due to a soft reset. I'm wondering shadowmite, do you know if there are any references to the xtra.bin file in the Kaiser GPS drivers?
I'm trying to determine that now, unless this quickgps app loads it directly into the gps's memory (which is possible, there is a reference to the port in the exe file) it doesn't do anything. I'm taking it apart trying to decide.
after playing a little more, it seems i am not getting a fix any faster, but i am picking up more sats- 10 now, ive always seen 4-6 before. but, maybe its just the conditions outside? im awaiting shadowmite's results.
It seems to be making a big difference for me. After a soft reset I'm getting an initial lock in tomtom in under 10 seconds indoors. Prior to running download in the exe it was taking a few minutes if it would get an indoor lock at all.
i'm too lazy right now to go outside and test this. just wondering if this is a standalone app that activates gps, or if it just updates sat data. i've gotta go grab some food soon so i might just find my answer.
Supposed to just download satellite position data I believe to help lock faster but as Shadowmite said, it is still unclear if it helps on the Titan.
Hey Shadowmite, firstly I just want to thank you also for everything you have done for all of the smartphone groups. I have been a big fan since your days on the treocentral forums helping us all with the Treos. The quickgps may be just a placebo effect but I never used to be able to start up a native gps satellite sync indoors in my home office. I used to have to go outside to start up then come inside and it would sometimes keep a satellite or two locked. Now I can get initial sync inside even after a cold start. I do notice that occasionally I have to soft reset to get the GPS kick started as it occasionally isn't recognized by TomTom even using the astrogpslauncher app. Obviously this isn't scientific and I will wait to see what your dissection shows. Thanks for working on this. One other question for you programmers, would it be feasible to create some kind of external LED sequence or task bar icon that would indicate that the GPS is active and/or locked on satellites? Right now it requires an app. I know you guys aren't just sitting around waiting for people to suggest new functionality but it's just an idea to throw out there. Thanks again.
I don't think it will help, while both Titan and devices like Kaiser use Qualcomm MSMs, they do so in completely different ways. The CDMA gpsOne spec doesn't need to know what satellites are in the sky... it can pull that data from the network.
I think the major GPS delays on Titan are bugs in the radio stack... HTC has never tried to enable gpsOne on CDMA2000 before, and there are likely to be many bugs. If there weren't, well, we would have had GPS on the Harrier.

A couple things...
The radio version of your phone (GSM vs CDMA) has nothing to do with the Pandora ap.
Secondly, what everyone is telling you about it not being VGA is correct. That's why the pictures are small and screwy.
That is as good as it gets until they decide to fix it... at least it still works.
thanks for your help.....so can i use apps from just the CDMA thread or i can go to Raphael software and use those too???
It depends on what the application does.
Think of it this way...
Your phone is like a Dell Computer running XP.
Any program designed to run on XP will work, but if the program is strictly for Dell Computers, it will only work if you have a Dell.
CDMA or GSM is like the Dell Computer part of it.
Any application that is designed to run on a PPC/WinMobile will work on your phone.
But if the application is designed for a specific brand... like unlocking the GPS feature on a VZW Touch Pro, or a custom ROM for the ATT Fuze, you don't even think about running it unless you've got that exact model or you're willing to brick your phone.
Hope that helps.

Did a small research on XTRA and perhaps this might help us. I still have QuickGPS fresh, another 6 days to go, and then without updating it will try GpsFix to see if it helps ... anyways try and let us know .... http://www.appbrain.com/app/gpsfix/c...roidlab.gpsfix
This thing works on HD2 and some other WinMo devices when running Android!
UPDATE: With above situation I got fix in less than 10 seconds.
This was already posted in a thread, that has fallen down a few pages IIRC.
It's not actually affixing the agps data to the radio like QuickGPS does. There is no interface for XTRA to work - so agps in Android is broken, same applies to HD2.
As I asked in the other thread before you decided this needed a new thread... this app only keeps the radio up, it does not do anything like QuickGPS does in relation to agps. There is an app that does - GPS Test, but without XTRA being functional it's pretty useless, other than to confirm if you indeed have a lock or not .
Understood, if you are sure about this then perhaps mod can take this tread down. Thanks.

Well I'm positive the XTRA interface isn't present - so agps is definitely broken.
I'm also fairly confident this app simply keeps the GPS radio on so that apps don't fail out when trying to get a fix... that app has nothing to do with agps - read the link you posted .
However, there is an app called GPS Test - that when we get the XTRA interface working will actually be a replacement app for QuickGPS from what I can tell.
