Back when I owned an XDA II, someone created an online ROM cooker that you could customise on the website... choose which programs and tweaks you wanted to install and then it cooked it for you and provided it for download.
Will something like this ever be available for the Hermes or is this idea dead now that MS won't allow ROMS for download? I have been reading about the ROM Koch and love the progress but am wondering if it will ever be streamlined to a simple click & cook type of interface...

can you provide a link as to this site??
M$ will come down on top of us, like a ton of bricks i rekon....but id LOVE to see this
/t
walshieau, this was about 4 years ago when the XDA II was at its most popular. Maybe someone else here who owned an XDA II may recall it or know how it worked.
I just did a quick Google hoping something would jog my memory and I found a thread on xda-developers!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=226272
The site is shutdown now though.
a quick google comes back with http://www.romkitchen.de/ as one of the first results
well since Olipro and dutty have managed to port all of the tools to .NET im happy to host the website if they want their code ported to online applications....
There was another provided by a guy named Yorch I recall as well that was a good online one... I think it died off though
Yorch that was it!
That site was fantastic! If we could do the same for the Hermes, that'd be... even more...... fantastic!
Anyone know how to get some of the stock verizon ringers back on to the xv6800 after flashing with a cooked rom from dcd's kitchen?
They are in your extended ROm if you have unlocked that. If not, get them from the PPCGeeks FTP.
I have "unlocked" my extended rom by making a registry change. Now I can see the extended rom and the files. I'm not really sure what to do at this point though because I can't do anything with the files, they don't do anything. I'm probably just doing something wrong.
The cab files say they install, but no new ringers appear. The autorun file doesn't do anything. I've read several other threads stating that the registry hack I made just "unhides" the extrom, and now I have to unlock it. Anyone got any ideas for what I need to do next?
Oops, didn't notice this thread earlier.. lol. You may need to OEMize the cabs if they don't install properly.
So that means I'd have to OEMize the cabs in the extended rom, then import them into dcd's kitchen? If so, does that mean I have to reflash again with another cooked rom with the OEM's that i make? Or is there a way to use the OEM's without reflashing?
Also, after looking over the cab files in the extended rom, none of them contain a _setup.xml file. OEMizer won't import the cabs from the extended rom because of this.
All I want is a few of the stock ringers from the original vanilla rom, and this is starting to become a huge headache. :-(

Let me look at them later on today and see if I can grab them for you.
Yeah, I tried just dragging and dropping the cabs into OEMizer, which worked when I ran BuildOS. Cooked my rom, flashed, and the cabs were in my /Windows directory. Didn't do anything though because they still wouldn't install correctly.
Thanks blazing!
Here you go. You should be able to put them in the Windows/Rings folder.
Edit (12/26/07): Missed some the first time and they are named correctly.
EXCELLENT! You are the man.
May I ask what you did?
I extracted them from the cab file.
Please re-download the file as I missed a couple the first time. Plus they are now named correctly.
thanks a lot for your help.
just one more question...are these the stock rings off the verizon xv6800 that come with ROM 2.09? there seems to be one particular ring i've always had, both with my xv6700, and again with my xv6800 (before flashing) that's not there...it's weird.
anyway, thanks again.
I got them from the Extended ROM that is in the 2.09 ROM.
Can you tell me which ringer you are looking for? I might be able to find it and get it for you.
I'm not sure what they're called on the xv6800 cuz I flashed it right away and can't remember. On the xv6700, they are called telephone ring 2, and telephone ring 3.

I will look tomorrow.
Here are some more. I think the 2 you want are in here.
I did a full upgrade on my phone this weekend (very easy thanks to all of the info on these forums) but just realized that some of the neat ringers that came with the phone are gone. I looked through these zips but didn't see them all. I had Halloween (Michael Myers theme music) and Flight of the Bumblebee and some other cool ones. Anyone have any thoughts on a source to find them again? Thanks.
Wow this is an old thread lol. I think my first xda post was made in this thread, back when I was wet behind the ears.
Yeah...I've been reading these forums for a couple weeks now and I was shocked to find a thread with gc14 asking for help.
I guess we all start somewhere.

Try using Google! Noobs.
Took me a minute to realize the date here!
Does anybody know where I can find it since PPCGeeks is down?
I need whichever one is needed to flash the latest SPrint rom.
Thanks in advance.
I put it into my user folder at the ppcgeeks ftp.
ftp://ppcgeeks:[email protected]/Titan/Users/fly2279/Hard-SPL-MFG.exe
I believe it was always in imcokeman's ftp on ppcgeeks.
Guess it doesn't hurt to have it in two places, but its sorta redundant.
sweet.. was looking for this.. thankz !
So I'm just now starting to get into the whole customizing of the kitchen thing... I have quite a few apps I need installed and some don't have cabs and/or take way too long to get installed...
sooo OEM packages seem like the quickest way to get stuff installed right...
My question is.. do all OEM packages work with all devices??? I see lots of info on forums about OEM stuff but nothing really specific to Titan. What I"m really looking for is a master list of pre-packaged OEMs I might be able to just drop in without going through the struggle of trying to get them to work right... I tried OEMizer and out of 20 or so apps I think it actually worked with 2 of them....
Can I use the OEMs listed in this thread?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/archive/index.php/t-333359.html
Is there possibly another thread someone can point me to that has lots of OEMs posted?
Thnx much
they are all pretty much universal unless the app is to old to work with wm6.
i'll look for the link with alex's oem .rar its got a bunch in there.
having problems finding a good way to convert cab to oem somewhat easily... oemizer doesn't work for most apps...
I was browsing a Orange Outlet today and saw the Hurricane for 20 pounds, I was tempted to buy it just to see how much I could upgrade it.
I've never been to this side of the forum before, I own a Trinity but, let me ask, is wm6.1 cooked roms working ok on the hurricane?
For those of you in Britain, I'll be more than happy to tell you where i saw the Hurricane for 20 pounds.
Then again, maybe that's expensive, is it?
i don't know what prices are in Britain, but in Poland 20 pounds it's real good price for this device.
At this moment you can upgrade it to WM 6.1 Standard (Chinese/English) or to WM 6.1 Prof
ps. very soon, maybe tomorrow i will upload my wm 6.1 Standard rom
I think I am going to buy that phone and give it go, too bad it isn't 3G. Thanks for the info, i truly appreciate it.

where abouts?also what does it come with (box, manuals etc etc)
There's a Orange outlet Clearance store in Braintree, Essex at the Freeport Designer Village. http://www.freeport-braintree.com/
I don't know exactly where you are but, if you are close or passing by check it out. It does come in the box with Manuals and everything the only drawback is, it is locked to Orange (no problem for you) and you must buy it with 10 pounds topup from Orange, bummer.

When you upload your WM 6.1 Pro, please let me know. I have bought the phone and unlocked it after several tries. Anyway it is unlocked and good get a cooked rom on it now. My thing is I don't know how to use the bin rom, this is real new to me. If I could get a ruu rom that would be real good for me, if not you might have to give me detail destructions on how to use a bin Rom.
there are no ruu wm6/6.1 roms. only *.bin format.
if you don't know how to upgrade rom with this file format, read other threads.
i must change Arcsoft MMS to better and add Java Emulator, then i will upload my rom

I am looking forward to your ROM, in the meanwhile I'll search the threads and find out if I can learn anything about flashing with a .bin file, thanks for the reply.
