I recently purchased a Verizon 6800. It comes installed with ArcSoft MMS Composer 4.2.8.1. I am unable to send, or receive picture messages. When I try to send, nothing makes it to the Sent folder. Likewise, when I try send/receive from the inbox, I get a message at the bottom stating "error synchronizing."
I know something about computers, but I am new to these PDA phones. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Regards, AARMD
where did you get the phone from? All XV6800's that I have seen come with a 'stock' version of MMS, it's like ver 3.0.15 or something similar....
yeah, the arcsoft version 4 is REALLY tricky to get working. azclown and i spent weeks messing with mine, and he had some really good ideas but i couldnt get it to keep working.
I guess I mis-spoke. Right after I bought the phone, an acquaintance installed some additional programs and deleted some others. I assumed that the ArcSoft came with the phone.
If the Arcsoft isn't going to work, what should I do?? Is there another, more dependable program that I can use??
Thanks, AARMD
Uninstall it and try to find a CAB of the original MMS, I used to have it, but since i use 4281 now, I got rid of it...
How did you get 4.2.8.1 to work? Is there a fix I can download? I'm not even sure my settings are accurate.

The arcsoft MMS program doesn't work anymore.. There are a few new workarounds in development, but they're all beta testing. Do a search on PPCgeeks for MMS app and you'll find No2Chem's nuemms.. I think it's the closest to complete right now...
http://216.139.227.226/alltel/RUU_TITAN_ALLTEL_WWE_3.35.671.9_RS_TITAN_03.37.20_Alltel_2.01_AM_PPST_Ship.exe
From HTC US (http://www.htc.com/us/FAQ_Detail.aspx?p_id=63&act=sd. )
Installing it now...
Adds video messaging? Can you confirm it allows a non-6800 phone to send to a 6800 phone? Holy crap, that might be worth it.... Still no GPS with this one though, right?
I am going to have a hard time giving up DCD's awesome work for an Alltel stock ROM, please report how well it's working.
Also, isn't the ROM pictured there the old one they had out a long time ago?
Windows Mobile 6.
I am uninstalling all the crap and will try google maps (GPS) after.
Add/Remove shows 3 I have not seen before:
"Customization Hide_cannedtxt"
"Customization Hidden"
"Customization PPSTCAB"
I will leave those there for now. More updates to come.
Downloaded, phone synced, and in the debate with myself if I want to do it.
There is a thread at PPCGeeks about it, seems to be working fine.
My plan is to install the ROM update for no other reason than the radio update, which appears to be newer, and hopefully the MMS messaging will FINALLY work on this phone.
Negative on GPS.
It's funny, I wont bat an eye to throw in the latest version of whatever ROm onto the phone, but have been sitting here for 15 minutes debating on flashing the official ROM.

At PPCGeeks, it was verified as working with flashing a different ROM over it, something like DCD's 3.04. Possibly like before with the Sprint update, just don't let the customizations run?
If anyone is wondering, this is the same OS build as the Sprint release but it is including a newer radio. When I'm home and have the time I'll check to see if the drivers are any different than what was included by Sprint.
[edit] I've just updated our Titan wiki for this new Alltel ROM and radio
After flashing this official ROM, picture and video MMS works. Didn't change a thing in settings, and just received a video from a non-ppc6800 phone.
Now the question is, how do we get GPS working. If we can do that and keep the functioning MMS, I will be one happy camper.
I really want some of the things 6.1 had, like the threaded messaging.
If I were to slap DCD's 3.04 on this thing, would whatever the hell they did to have working MMS be erased? Hopefully someone smarter than me can answer that, cuz I really want to.

Certainly. It may be one of the files in the extended ROM that are providing the service. In the previously mentioned PPCGeeks thread, vetvito has extracted those alltel apps and customisations and are available for download. Those of you on Alltel could test installing those CABs onto another ROM and see what they provide you.
If I'm around the next few days and not heading out for the weekend I may add the alltel settings as an option into my kitchen. Once done, those OEMs will be available for all. Or DCD or another may beat me to it.

Gimme a few, and I will.
It has version 3.0.26.11C for Arcsoft. I will get the registry now.
yeah, the mms settings can easily be setup in my kitchen.
hopefully they will work with 5.x, i really dont want to go back to arcsoft 3.
So anybody try this with the new arcsoft on DCD's 3.0.4. Dont want to reflash rom (again and again, again) with new arscoft to try unless someone else is having luck with it.

I haven't tried it yet. But, after successfully receiving one video message from a non-6800 phone, the next one gave me the same axxess pics crap as before. I suspect it might have been over the 300k limit, and that's what causes it to pop that up. If there is a way to increase the 300k limit, that might help also.
I will do some more checking on what works and what doesn't.
I think im gonna try tonite anyways, will post what happens...wont get my hopes up though.
everytime i change a setting on something, and okay/X out of it, the phone ap shows up, instead of the today screen. how do i get rid of this?
also, is there a way to get the old messager back? or disable the cluster style text message "converstation"?
pocket plus
this has been asked in another thread and I believe the problem was found to be caused by SPB pocket plus (some specific verion, anyway).

I have seen this problem based on which dialer I chose as well
i dont have spb pocket plus and the dialer still pops up...
same problem here, dcd 3.1.2. Funny, I looked forward to threaded sms when I upgraded
I had the same problem and was able to fix it by installing a new dialer. The new dialer doesn't look much different but the problem went away.
I have that problem on my Mogul, and I think it is PocketPlus

have the same problem and i never even seen the app
I think I got it, I installed the stock dialer over again and it hasn't popped up by itself since. I've attached the file I used so everyone else doesn't have to even bother searching for it.
edit: this is the gsm dialer sorry. I am removing it now

DO NOT use this dialer. This dialer is a GSM dialer and BREAKS your CDMA dialer functionality. I've seen so many people just post whatever works...then 5 more threads pop up with people asking "Why doesn't EPST work?" or "Why don't I have +1 dialing?"
Tanx for the warning - I have been flashing from Vetvitos black pill back and forth to DCD's 3.1.2 - was going to try this dialer on the next flash - will delete it immediately.

I recently found a pretty nice looking dialer designed for GSM, but does not break the CDMA functionality. It's based off the iphone dialer and looks pretty damn good. I'm not a big fan of the Diamond dialer (also maintains CDMA functionality) as I don't really care for how it looks.
^^^^ Hey brother - You holding out on me??? Let's see that dialer you just found..... please....!
Az
Here, check it out and let me know what you think...lol
So far I'm liking it.
Hey bud, downloaded it and installed fine... Looks great, and everything works except using the ## codes... Do they work for you?
## codes work fine for me....
Which codes are you trying?
I was trying the ##778#, just dials the phone.... doesn't open epst... Also, the only way I can open epst is by using the link, clicking directly on the .exe does nothing....
Is there a complete list of codes for our phone??
lol silly fool....
Sprint = ##778#
Verizon = ##778
I should have stopped the beer earlier.... So I had an off day.... It's all good... thx for the help G....

I got that too today when I was trying to send a pic to another TMO subscriber, I send it to ATT and it went through fine, try resending to TMO, and get the error.
Just tried resending it, and the error. I compiled a new MMS with the same pic to the same subscriber and it went through
I am having this same issue. When ever I try to send an mms I get that error. I am running one of masters 2.2 roms, but I have tried other 2.2 roms and I have gotten this same error. But when I flash back to my nandroid of a 2.1 rom the error goes away.
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
Thx guys. Wanted to make sure it wasnt just me.
Bump. This is really driving me nuts. No matter what 2.2 rom I flash I get this error

FIXED that Error on my phone
NEVERMIND: ONLY WORKED BRIEFLY THAN BACK TO SAME PROBLEM.....
I had same problem with Obsidian v2 & v4.2 ULF with picture messaging otherwise MMS.
This fixed it perfectly for me:
Go to your main menu settings.
Than Applications, Next Manage Applications, than Running Applications.
Click on "Messaging", Click "Clear Data"
Exit back to main screen.
Now open messaging.
Go to messaging settings by hitting the menu button on the phone.
While in messaging settings page, hit the phones menu button again,
only one option appears to "Restore Default Settings".
Click it & exit.
Now try to send a MMS/picture message. Worked like a charm for me.
Hope it helps some of you all out.
I just flashed today the axura 2.0.5, I am also having this same issue.
But this does not happen if the txt message has no picture attachment.
This is the only issue I have with the axura rom
I think I will have to go back to 2.1 if I can find a fix to this issue
The only way I have found to send an mms is to actually type the phone number I am sending it to. If I try to send an mms to one of my contacts then I get the error message. It is pretty anoying
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
Ditto axura 2.0.5. No MMS. Have tried every answer I could find but NG. Hope there is a fix soon.
***NEVERMIND: ONLY LOOKS LIKE IT WORKS BUT FRIENDS DONT RECEIVE THE ATTACHED PICTURE ONLY THE TEXT. f**K IT i GIVE UP. Just going to have to wait for a better ROM or newer froyo build or something. Frustrated but its ok. Whatever.
Below is for informational use only as it it still did not fix issue:
I eventually pulled the mms.apk from Obsidian V3 ROM. It is the AOSP mms version Team Whiskey modified to work with (android 2.2) & Obsidian in that release version. I also changed the icon to the touchwiz messaging icon to keep the look instead of the greem messaging icon. I will post the file later tonight for anyone interested. It does work fine for me. Tested several times using it in Obsidian V4.2 ULF.
You will simply have to close your current messaging application, clear data than use root explorer to delete the existing mms.apk in your system/app/ section and paste the one I'm using. Will have it posted after I get off work today. At least I have normal functionality this way.
Error in server response - axura ROM
Also using Axura 2.0.5
I been trying all kinds of get around. I nstalled handsent app , using a different mms app doesn't fix the issue. It worked only once , then error in server response again!
tried typing the tel number to send the mms, still error, very annoying.
And if I go back to 2.1 I can send out mms
Feelx77,
if you can post your solution with an installation procedure , alot of us will be happy
Heres the AOSP MMS that Team Whiskey had in their Obsidian V3 ROM. I pulled it and changed the default icon to the touchwiz icon.
As in my previous post one page back, it is useable and it looks like it sends your pictures but it really doesn't either for me. My friends only received the text that is included when I attached a picture. This mms.apk did not give me any errors, it just did not really send any pictures. Only looks like it does but no one receives them. If anything new comes to mind I will post later for everyone.
So, I just put back the regular MMS.apk on my phone for now. Out of ideas. Just have to wait to see if developers find a solution or fix it in new upcoming ROM releases or next froyo build.
Posting the file below if anyone wants to experiment with it. Installation instructions are in my previous post one page back.
Add area code to fix?
Master who made the ROM hnted how to fix the issue "he said: add the area code" I am posting the link to what he said
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=821468&page=218
read post #2172
I tried to read back but I can not find the original post stating how to fix the problem by adding the area code.
I don't understand what he means by adding the area code. Maybe someone can comment on this fix.
FYI
Yeah I've heard making sure you have the area code or adding "1" in front of number. Those ideas work if your typing in a number to picture text but if I select a contact saved on the phone thats when it errors.
Other suggested moving contacts over to SIM card and than it works but that defeats the luxury of having a smart phone if I cant keep the contacts on my phone with each contacts extra details that cant be saved to SIM cards.
So, I know I CAN picture text manually for each message I send but I am trying to find a natural way to send mms picture messages easily by selecting any contact in my drop down list that has been saved to the phone without trickery....just like it did exactly with eclair 2.1 before. Ya' know
I read back thru the post, it was discuss to add the area code. Obviously I add the area code because my parents lives in ohio and I am live in california. I tried the following to no success:
1-000-000-0000
000-000-0000
(000)000-0000
1 (000) 000-0000
Is there someone who can tell me how to retrieve the error log, so that I can send it to master for review
It is 10:30pm , I am in communication with master right now, about this issue. He gave me things I can try, but none of them has fixed the issue.
I will let you guys know once, I get a good fix to the issue.
The ROM is great, except for this hitch,
I gave up on this a month a go. I switched to the Handcent mms client. I keep checking to see if the stock client works as I don't want two mms.
I also about to give up on the axura 2.0.5 , the only thing is that the skype works because it based on the 2.2 froyo .
Based on the axura 2.0.5 thread that I read, master believes that there is no problem.
Based on this thread , there is a number of users with this issue. It maybe a fraction of the users, but it's real.
I've ask master, how to pull out the log, so that I can send it to him for analysis.

I don't believe there is no problem, there is deff a problem.
It just amazes me that only some of you have the issue.
Keep in mind, it isn't only my ROM.
If you want a fix for it right this second then you can install the CM6 MMS
Hello Master,
Thanks for responding.
I really like your ROM,
Hopefully you will find a fix for it, it maybe in the form of a patch.
Do you stilll want me to send you a log, just let me know how to do this, and I will send it to you immediately.
Thank you again for this great ROM
Ok so trying to send a picture mail/MMS. But it fails sending! giving me server response error. So I tried the setting fix posted under the development area.but still fails to send any MMS. Please help me out here! Running Leaked Stock Froyo JK6 Rom. Thanks a million!

yeah, I am also having this problem. tried almost everything. But nothing worked. I think it has something to do with the 2.2. I tried other custom roms based on the 2.2, I still get the same mms error.
Think I found a work around. Make sure the numbers in your contacts.don't have any dashes in them so say 2065551234 instead of 206-555-1234 worked for me. Works now! Try it and let me know!

^^^ this worked for me, you can also try using chompsms.
workaround solution
I had this same issue on AT&T Captivate (Samsung SGH-I897) Galaxy S phone after I updated to 2.2 (froyo).
Send as attachment
However I was able to get it to work if I went opened up a message to whomever I was sending MMS and then clicked on the options button and chose attachment and clicked on the media of my choosing. This did allow me to send successfully.
MMS Server response error - Possible Fix!
I've ready through and tried all of the "fixes" for the MMS but to no avail. However, after having read through many other sites, I discovered that it might be as simple as re-listing your contacts' phone numbers so that they are only 10-digit strings. For example: My phone number should be listed as 13032045999, not +1-303-204-5999, nor 303-204-5999, nor 303.204.5999, etc. Get it?
Try resetting the listing you're having difficulties sending an MMS or SMS to, and give it another try.
This might also help with syncing your contacts with your Gmail contacts online.
