Cannot Copy ROM Files - HTC Startrek

Okay, I'm trying to pull out the new IE files from WM6.1 on my startrek, but it won't let me. I superCID unlocked and app unlocked, even redid it after flashing, still no good.
No matter what, when I try to copy "iexplore.exe" or "browser.dll" or any other file that is in ROM, I get access is denied.
Any thoughts on how I can get these out? Or if you know how to pull them right from the rom file, which I tried but failed at...

You can use this program to dump the rom in the folder on storage card. Remove cab extention, put it there and run it.

Sorry, what? Don't use the file in your last post?

Όχι, το ποστ αφορά. Μπήκε 2 φορές.

IE files from WM6.1. There are some hidden files in archive.
Rename ie61.zip to ie6.7z (or open by WinRAR)

Thanks Erofich! I tried copying them to my blackjack ii though, and wound up having to hard reset
Running the exe just from the folder though, doesn't have the zoom out feature. I'm not sure if it's running the wrong exe or something else is going on....

Extended ROM Unlocking

Hi guys,
I've got an XDAII and I want to be able to see / edit the extended rom...
I've found the cab files I need (elsewhere in this forum) but I have no idea whatsoever how to use them?!?!
I can't run them, so there must be either an app I need or somewhere I need to put them, right?
Please help
Thx
Have you transfeered the cab file to your phone and executed from there?
It's a cab file. You put it on the XDA II in a folder of your choice, then run it, after reboot you will find a new icon in Programs. The rest is simple.
When I try to run it I get:
The is no application associated with "00unhide". Run the application first, then open this file from within the application.
Click to collapse
Please post the link to the exact file so I can download and test it.
I just got it working...
After I downloaded the .cab, as I have WinRar I thought that it was something that needed extracting and it didn't!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/download.php?id=567
that's the link anyway, but it works perfectly!
Sorry for being such a idiot
No problem, hope its all sorted for you now.

Help with DCD

The file for sd card flashing a rom says it should be TITAIMG.nbh, why when i download just the rom is it dcd_titan_3.2.6.exe. I'm trying to load my phone up with 3.2.6 and radio 3.42.50, so far I have updated my bootloader to 2.47 and updated the radio, but now it is just stuck at the verizon screen everytime i load and the bootloader is not dectecting the .exe file.
You must RUN the exe. It will unpack a file called RUU_Signed.nbh or something (just look, you'll see it along with the rest of the stuff, just close the program when it opens). Rename that to TITAIMG.nbh and put it at the root of ur card.

If you have WinRAR or Winzip.... Right click on the EXE on the computer... extract the files.
In the extracted files list... find Ruu_signed.nbh.
Rename Ruu_signed.nbh > TITAIMG.nbh
Copy this file to the MicroSD card.. then get into bootloader.

You can do that as well. Either way, try it and let us know how it goes.
Ahhh, I thought it was an executeable lol. Ok well anyways, i just went ahead and ran the kitchen utility and had it make one for me and renamed it, just now booting into windows 6.1 for the first time. One question, since i had the kitchen build the rom for me and i just used what was already checked as far as features and added no additional ones, is that gonna be identical to the rom i would get from extracting this .exe file?

Yup, just don't forget to run your carrier cab when done.
-edit-
Since you r on verizon, you may have to get a new A-Key if this is the first time you flashed ur phone.

Congrats on getting it up and running
The mode 4 was a joke regarding one of the other threads in this forum (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=423231) which, incidentally, is where I would point you for GPS issues. Basically, you will need to get your phone into Service Programming mode via QPST and change some settings for the gpsOne chip. I say read through the thread (ignore some of the ehh....how should i put this....disagreements) and come come up with your own conclusion as to what the mode 4 issue is and what you need to do. Basically, If one doesn't work for you, try the other

[REQ/Q] Rogers Call Display. How to cook a dll file into a ROM?

Hi all, I'm trying to make Fido Call Display to work on my Device, and I found the solution here. However the solution requires me to cook the rilphone.dll file into the ROM that I'm using (NAFT's v2.3). I've never cooked a ROM before and I'm far from understanding the procedure, but I don't think it's that hard to add a file in a cooked ROM. Can you guys help me out with this?
Please show me how to add/replace rilphone.dll in NAFT's v2.3 ROM. Thank you.

Yes, the reason my method does not work is because the rilphone.dll is not signed with a trusted certificate as I stated..
Pretty much leaves the only option as cooking it in, unless you are already using a ROM with a modified nk.exe in XIP to disable certificate checking.. then you can just drag and drop rilphone.dll and reboot.. but since stock ROMs are not modified in such a way, you cook it in, as all files cooked into ROM are trusted..
Unfortunatly there is no way to modify XIP without cooking either.
If a ROM is unprotected (still has it's rgu's) - download a ROM kitchen for your device.. extract the rom of your choice.. replace rilphone.dll in \OEM\OEMDrivers.. then re-assemble the ROM.. no registry manipulation needed.
For the raphael ROM kitchen, name your ROM "RUU_Signed.nbh", put it in \BaseROM
Run RaphaelKitchen.bat
select "e" for extract, then "a" for "From RUU_Signed.nbh"
let it go through its motions, when it's done replace rilphone.dll in \OEM\OEMDrivers
again in RaphaelKitchen.bat select "cf" then "b"
click "BuildOS" tab
click "Load ROM" button
navigate to RaphaelKitcken folder (has subfolders OEM, ROM, SYS, etc), press ok
click green "Go" button
when done, close the window
again the kitchen will go through some motions, when it pops up XVI32 and says "Page Pool Changer" in the command prompt window simply close xvi32
now it should prompt to flash to your device.. and you're done

Ya, I tried it with NAFT's v2.3, but it seems that the file is protected... the file can't be read.
I'm not sure I understand, you tried to cook the file into ROM and it gave you an error about it being protected? Or do you mean you tried to copy the file to the device, and it wouldn't let you overwrite? If that's the case that's why I suggest renaming rilphone.dll to rilphone2.dll before you copy to device, and then change the registry to point to that.. that way you don't have to overwrite the file that's already on the device.

i tried what you told me to do on the other post; Rename the file, and extract it... I have no problem renaming the file, but when I tried to extract it with Raphael Kitchen, I got error like "Cannot read the file" or something like that... here is the dump log

Nothing was extract.
hmm, sounds like the ROM kitchen is having a problem handing the .nbh you fed it, try it with a stock nbh and see if it works..
the rom you are trying to extract may be protected from extraction.
Just to make sure, you are trying to extract the ruu_shipped.nbh in \baserom.. which is the ROM image, somewhere in the range of 50 to 200mb large..

I redownload the Rom and it seems to work now. I can finally extract it.
As for the rilphone.dll... do you have the right one for Rogers Display? and the one that will work for Fido as well?
edit: I successfully reflashed my ROM, but the display thing doesn't work. Beside replacing rilphone.dll is there any reg I need to change? (can you give me the right rilphone.dll file?
I got the rilphone.dll file here
Sucessfully cooked in NaFT's v3.1, however it still doesn't work. It always show unknown Caller.
any help here would be much appreciated

Problem that only an expert chef can answer :)

Ok so here is my problem....
everytime my phone starts it copies over the following files to the root of my storage card "pim.vol, eT9Cdb.Cdb, eT9Rudb.Rdb" so when i do a hard reset i put into the initflashfiles.dat
Directory("\"):-File("pim.vol","\storage card\pim.vol")
Directory("\Windows"):-File("eT9Rudb.Rdb","\storage card\eT9Rudb.Rdb")
Directory("\Windows"):-File("eT9Cdb.Cdb","\storage card\eT9Cdb.Cdb")
I also tried, as a test to copy them to my documents and that also did not work. Now the rom still loads and it does not freeze during first boot, if you were thinking that i did not delete the first two bytes. it just does not copy them from the storage card to the device i had it setup like this on my x7500 and it worked perfectly so im not sure what the problem is. Any thoughts ?
thanks for looking

You could try using a provxml file operation instead? Not sure if initflashfiles generally is happy about copying from a removable storage device such as the sd slot (just a guess), since in your Athena it is a fixed disk it may behave differently??
Another thing you could try is to do the copy operation as a stage of the customization process, use an xml file in there?? Perhaps the SD bus driver is not loaded until after initflashfiles has completed since really it has to run that before alot of other operations on first boot?

I'd use CPY1/CPY2 in a UC script
Code:
CPY1:\storage card\pim.vol
CPY2:\pim.vol
CPY1:\storage card\eT9Rudb.Rdb
CPY2:\Windows\eT9Rudb.Rdb
CPY1:\storage card\eT9Cdb.Cdb
CPY2:\Windows\eT9Cdb.Cdb

ok so i tried using the cpy1/cpy2 and it actully worked however it did not copy over the pim.vol so i tried to copy it over manually and it let me but after i did that i could no longer press on contacts, calender, or get to the phone pad any thoughts?
I think you'll probably need to close down any process actively using the pim database before copying it over, it's probably open when you're overwriting it and getting corrupted..

i changed the reg values to my documents then changed them back, i am kindof thinking that htc may have set this up a little differently on the TP which is why i am having so much trouble but thats is only my guess
ok so im thinking part of the problem is that the pim.vol file is working with some other file for contacts, here is why: i copied the pim.vol file from my rom renamed it pim.vol_ put it into my rom and flashed it, of course i put Directory("\Windows"):-File("pim.vol","\Windows\pim.vol_") into the initflashfiles.dat file and still not contacts. so i have no idea why this does not work any thoughts. thanks

[Q] update utility problems, help a noob please,

hi!
i am currently using an HTC HD2- ROM version: 1.72.206.3 (86372) WWE
Radio version: 2.07.51.22_2
as you can see i have made no changes to the software since i got it.
i have tried to load in a new radio and a new rom- Leo_RADIO_2.12.50.02_2 and
Miri_Steve0007_Elegancia_V3.0_FINAL... but when i go to load them usoing the update utility i get the message in the image.
thanks, harry.
Hi
From the looks of it, the filename might be incorrect or in the wrong location.
First, put the update utility file(s) in a folder along with the radio file that you want to use. Rename the radio file to ruu_signed.nbh (exactly like that). The try run the update - it should work.
If you follow the above instructions for your ROM file (Miri_Steve0007_Elegancia_V3.0_FINAL... ) then that should work too! Make sure you rename it as I have said above.
PS you can only update the Radio OR the ROM not both at the same time (as far as I know), so do one after the other.
Latz
Thanks for your reply. i done what you said, but am now getting "ERROR [238] : file read" :S
any ideas?
thanks, harry
Couple of things here
1) did you hardspl the deivce yet?
2) did you try and mount the files with a cd image mounter?
If you haven't done 1 then you can't flash anything that isn't a stock rom and if you did 2 you'll probably want to redownload the files. Also ensure that the path to the file doesn't exceed 256 characters. Some programs still have issues with really long file names
in post 1 that long filename, you didn't show the file extension, you are unzipping the downloaded file? (assuming it comes zipped, most do, zip, rar, 7z file extensions all need unpacking.
you shouldn't actually need to rename the file ruu signed, and you can't have two rom/radio .nbh files in the same folder.

Start with your phone off, hold the volume down Button and power the phone on. If the multi colored screen says HSPL on it, you should be able to flash just fine.
